Well, you've read the notes, the notes, like I, spied July, and now it is time for you to post until the July cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WHIMSICAL!
-
Notes espied. Detected.
-
Chandos not to be confused with Chandu the Magician.
-
Last time I saw Barry Pearl he had a big ol’ brain on his head in the NYC “Brain” production.
-
I liked Gibson in “Payback.”
-
Not to be confused with “Tayback,” about another famous Mel.
-
Topic of the Day:
Mad Max
Road Warrior (and I think I saw Beyond Thunderdome, but I don't remember)
Pocahontas
Those are (I think) the only Mel Gibson movies I've seen.
-
Not to be confused with “Tayback,” about another famous Mel.

Well, today is Olympia's Pride (https://www.capitalcitypride.net/mission). I'll be down there to help PFLAG Olympia (http://pflag-olympia.org/) set up their tent/booth and just be there for a while. My sister and her boyfriend are on the board, so I don't have much choice. ::)
;)
-
I'm sure I'll check in every once in a while.
Good night, Rodzinski, and have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I await an Amazon Fresh delivery. It is three stops away, so I expect it around 6:45a.m.
-
I did sleep very well. Annabelle stayed with me last night. Lately, she's been sleeping up in her bookcase aerie. Thatch was with me most of the night, but Stella showed up in the middle of the night and stayed with me and Thatch until 5:15 or so.
-
BK, I am very happy and excited that the Moonshine & Mistletoe recording will soon be a reality. I also hope it's a nice seller for Kritzerland. I'd love it if "My Love Brought Me Summer on a Cold Winter's Day" became a commercial hit, but counting chickens never went anywhere.
-
DR JohnG, I was curious about this Magic Flute film, but you confirmed my worst fears. As to F. Murray Abraham, he's a good actor but a rude asshole.
-
As to Mozart's Magic Flute on film, I rave about the Ingmar Bergman film in Swedish or Kenneth Branagh's strange but lovely film in English, in which my - and DR Laura's - friend Ben Davis plays Papageno.
-
The Bergman film is now on Criterion, and I need to get it the next time thei have a sale.
-
Amazon Fresh is now one stop away.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Thrilled about the news of a release of DR elmore3003's show.
-
Coincidentally, I also listened to the Wuthering Heights opera excerpts yesterday for the first time. and really enjoyed the recording - quite a lot. Such hyper-romantic music.
-
Amazon Fresh arrived just after 6:45, and it took me about 30 minutes to put it away. Stella got hyper-excited and leaped about checking out the various bags and playing in the empty ones. Thatch wisely stayed out of the way.
-
I've been thinking about yesterday's Supreme Court (which needs a machete taken to it) decisions: the Republican party's goal is to keep America white, Christian, heterosexual (ha!), and stupid; and six morons - including a black man who clearly suffers from dreams of white supremacy and self loathing and three questionable thinkers appointed by a dim-witted con man, rapist, and fraud - shamelessy flaunt this GOP goal.
-
I am not caught up and must run to a breakfast date
-
But I’ll Wordle first

Good morning, all.
-
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to BK and DR Elmore on the upcoming Moonshine & Mistletoe recording!
This is truly fantastic news.
-
I must get the Wuthering Heights CD - which actually looks to be an SACD, so all the better for the likes of me when listening in the Music Room.
Also have to get out the vocal score which I haven’t opened in a very long time.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Two!
-
Elmore, I have two copies of Bergman’s Magic Flute on DVD. If you’d like one, it’s yours.
-
As to Mozart's Magic Flute on film, I rave about the Ingmar Bergman film in Swedish or Kenneth Branagh's strange but lovely film in English, in which my - and DR Laura's - friend Ben Davis plays Papageno.
I thought I was going to watch the Branagh version.

I'm up, I'm up - about five hours of sleep.

I did shave last night, so all I have to do this morning is shower.
-
Hoping someone reads the new book this weekend.
-
Hello, mates!
I had a really super-good night's sleep.
I dreamed dreams, I did. I can even remember the start of one of them. You have several people in a room and you have a card you give to each of them. Each card has some picture or symbol on it that represents that person. You give each person a pen and instruct them to write FREE across the face of the card. They then take the cards, place them under their pillows, and then they report back on what their dreams were.
Odd, isn't it, how detailed the premise remains? i do recall dreaming that these folks revealed the results, and that the results were interesting. Yet, equally odd to me is that I do not recollect a single instance of any result. Only that there were some.
But, i feel so rested, I don't care at all.

Question for BK:
You talk about the Pye release of the Wuthering Heights LP box set. Mine is the Unicorn, bought at Phil Harris in 1972 or maybe 1973. Are there any appreciable differences that you’re aware of?

Pye release was first, but it seems like it showed up on Unicorn later that year, although that makes no sense at all, so Discogs may be wrong. It was reissued by Unicorn after they absorbed Pye in 1971. Unicorn was not known for wonderful vinyl pressings, but I'm sure they're close.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to breakfast and then the Hollywood Show.
-
Hooray for Hollywood!

Will BK have a hot cross bun?

Only his hairdresser knows for sure.

I could really use a strawberry pandowdy right about now.
-
One more.
-
THREE!
-
"Yankee Doodle Dandy" is playing on TCM right now.
One of the tidbits of info about it offered by Mr. DaveKarger was that, at one time, both Mickey Rooney and Fred Astaire were being considered for playing Cohan.
I think Rooney would have been awful. Not sure what I think it would have been like with Astaire.
We are fortunate that Cagney did it!!!
-
People come and go so fast here on Saturday mornings.
-
My grass is being cut right now.
Denny is out in the heat today because, he said, the yard looked awful. It's 86 degrees, very sunny and the heat is like a "baking" heat.
We had a couple of torrential rains this past week. The yard looked fine until the last one, and then all the grass went wild.
"Awful", to Denny, is "okay" for most other folks, so I didn't take it personally.
Next week will likely be hellishly hot, so it's likely best to have it done today anyway.

I am excited to hear about Moonshine & Mistletoe

Thanks DR ELMORE!

Bruce, congrats on you excellent news yesterday.
-
DR Rodzinski, once the kids get dual citizenship will you be switching to doctors in Vancouver?
-
From Rodzinski:
“The day commemorates the anniversary of the Constitution Act, which consolidated three territories into the single nation of Canada, way back in 1867.“
Thanks, I tend to forget this.

From George:
I recently discovered that putting some Everything Bagel seasoning in the chow mein is a very good thing!

Kitty when she lived with us.

When Craig wasn't home I would keep her with me.
-
Because of her coloring it was difficult to get a good photo of her.
-
Of course she enjoyed my keyboard.
-
I love her!
-
So do I.
-
I realized after our last video chat with Craig I hadn't seen her. He was at his desk and I don't think she can jump up that high on her own anymore.

Mel Gibson:
Mad Max films
Lethal Weapon films
Maverick
Braveheart
-
It is a shame I really don't want to watch Gibson anymore.
-
TOD
Mel Gibson isn't someone I think about or look for. I've enjoyed him fine in Lethal Weapon (I've only seen the first two) and Signs, but nothing else I might have known him in comes to mind. I never saw the other ones named here because the movies themselves didn't interest me...though there might be one or two I should see.
-
DR Rodzinski, once the kids get dual citizenship will you be switching to doctors in Vancouver?
No. Canadian healthcare is for people who live and pay taxes in Canada.
-
It is a shame I really don't want to watch Gibson anymore.
Shame on him. F that guy.
-
New Indiana Jones underwhelming at the box office so far.

I think we will see it in Bend. I guess it is best not to expect too much.

That's partly why I pay him no mind now, but he never was one who interested me before, either.

New Indiana Jones underwhelming at the box office so far.
$24 million in its first day (yesterday). I don't know how wide its opening was or what was expected. Only time will tell with the 4th of July weekend looming.
It likely will be a major uphill battle to make back what it cost ($245 million!!!).

I re-watched "Glass Onion" this afternoon. It's always a rewarding watch. I caught more things I had missed in past viewings.

It's 93 degrees and not a breeze to be found anywhere.
Quite warm.
Air Quality is 64...better than previous days, but still high. We are still getting air pollution from Canadian smoke.

Nice.

Back from a breakfast, then the Hollywood Show, then lunch.
-
I'm exhausted.
-
I could have been in and out of there in an hour, but Barry likes to schmooze with people whether he knows them or not, so we spent a lot of time doing that. But I met some wonderful folks, most importantly Kristy McNichol, who looks great at sixty. I told her the story of how we first met - at the Playboy Mansion back in 1982 or thereabouts - in the game room, me playing Frogger, her making out with whichever female she was with. She loved the story. Also, Walter Koenig, who knew my work from my acting days - he was very sweet. My old pal Leslie Eastabrook, who was in my show Start at the Top, Carol Its White, spent time yakking with George Chakiris, who has finally let his hair and beard go natural - full gray - and he looks great. I don't think he's sold on the look yet, but both Barry and I were effusive in our praise. Then we spent some nice time with Adrian Zmed and that was fun, plus some nice time with Donna Pescow. There were others I didn't really know and I don't remember their names. Barry also spoke for a brief minute to William Shatner who I was surprised to see had no line at all.
-
Prior to that, I had breakfast with Yacko at a place near him - I'd been there a couple of times before. Had the best omelet I've ever had - simple, perfect size, and so tasty - bacon and cheese, along with some excellent hash browns.
-
Barry and I went to the Daily Grill for lunch. We both had exactly the same thing - cup of clam chowder and a wedge salad with ranch dressing - very good.
-
Barry wanted to say bye to another couple of people and I have no doubt he's still there.
-
The shocker was the admission price for one day - 30 bucks. And had I not lucked out, it would have been another ten for parking.
-
But I pulled in where I usually do and both entrance and exit arms were up. So, I parked near the medical building that's close to the Marriott and exited that same way, avoiding the gate they want you to exit from, where they charge.
-
So, that was good.
-
I stopped at the mail place and thankfully both important envelopes were there. Now, hopefully banks are open on Monday.
-
And why are we on page four?
-
You'd think it was a holiday weekend or something.
-
And why are we on page five?
-
And why am I the only one in the jernt?
-
Many questions with no answers.
-
Barry and I went to the Daily Grill for lunch. We both had exactly the same thing - cup of clam chowder and a wedge salad with ranch dressing - very good.
I always liked their mashed potatoes and broccoli.

I haven't been to a Daily Grill in years.
-

Congrats on avoiding the price of parking.
-
Bruce, it seems you had a very good day.
-
The Daily Grill near my brother closed years ago.
-
When we moved here there was one in Portland. That too is gone.
-
I thought The Daily Grill was a newspaper.
-
Watching MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION......it's followed on TCM by TARNISHED ANGELS which I haven't ever seen all the away through.
I like Agnes Moorehead in MO and ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS so much more than in her other movies or TV appearances because she doesn't use that annoying voice she did when ACTING......
-
I guess it made her stand out on radio....but wow!
I call it her Mrs. Kane & Aunt Fanny voice.....
-
I thought The Daily Grill was a newspaper.
:)
-
I do hope Jrand is also reading a book, since it IS the weekend. :)
-
I just finished reading Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano.
-
I had planned to read this even before my book group chose it for our July read.
-
I am sorry I will miss the discussion, it should be interesting.
-
Where is Blossom Dearie when you need her?
-
Glad the two envelopes are where they should be.
-
Having my baby.
-
What a lovely way of sayin' what you're thinkin' of me.
-
Oy. I don't even like that song.
-
What put that into my head?
-
Paul Anka was Canadian.
-
I wonder if Paul Anka drank Sanka.
-
And if he lived in Boston, whether he drove a tanker.
-
Did he put the guy in Long Island?
-
Stuff and nonsense.
-
With an emphasis on the latter.
-
SIX!
-
Not much happened here today.
-
Went out for breakfast. I had "Mo's Cajun Special." Eggs and ground beef over hashbrowns with a cheese sauce and Cajun spices. Delicious.
-
I believe that banks and the Post Office are open on Monday.
-
Air quality here is still moderately unhealthy.
-
We are supposed to have thunderstorms on July 4.
-
But there are supposed to be no fireworks due to how dry it is.
-
The neighborhood idiots will probably disregard the warning.
-
Dunderheads.
-
Demons.
-
You could just plotz.
-
And I have done.
-
I've plotzed all over page six.
-
And yet I persist.
-
Mushing on.
-
One plaintive post after another.
-
Taking up unwarranted space.
-
A frenzied frenzy.
-
Jack Ryan has returned to Amazon Prime.
-
Baying at the moon.
-
We are going to watch the first episode tonight.
-
Did Amazon Prime welcome Jack Ryan back with open arms?
-
I believe that banks and the Post Office are open on Monday.
They are.
-
Or arms akimbo?
-
The neighborhood idiots will probably disregard the warning.
Sad but likely true.

Walk like an Egyptian.

Walk this way.

Walk on By.

One more walk around the corner.
-
Onward!

I expected my medication to arrive through the post office and had been relieved to find out mail will be delivered on Monday.
-
SEVEN
-
Now it doesn't matter since the package is arriving by Fed-X.
-
That is good, DR Jane. Is your travel schedule different this coming week?
-
My package has been sitting in Portland for two days.
-
I had hoped it might arrive today, but they stuck to the two business days for delivery.
-
I saw the Fed-x truck deliver to someone in our building today. Oh well.
-
Just saw a recipe for tomato cobbler with pimiento cheese biscuits.
-
That is good, DR Jane. Is your travel schedule different this coming week?
Thank goodness it is. We are leaving on the 5th and staying through the weekend. Keith will be all done on Tuesday morning :)
-
'night
-
Oh, that is great, DR Jane. Good night.
-
We didn't make much of a dent on page seven, but at least we're not on page five.
-
It weren't for lack of trying.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Where is Blossom Dearie when you need her?
Exactly
-
I just finished reading Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano.
Did you like it?
-
I wonder if Paul Anka drank Sanka.
And if he ever sang Bianca.
-
Went to a movie party at a friend’s house. We watched Secondhand Lions, which I hadn’t seen in years. Really wonderful.
-
I wonder whatever happened to Rupert Holmes’s musical version.
-
I’m home now.
-
Gratuitous post 200!
-
I’m now watching a little more Rocky and Bullwinkle.
-
I wonder if Paul Anka drank Sanka.
And if he ever sang Bianca.
You better answer yes or Papa’ll spanka.
-
A wonderful song from Kiss Me, Kate.
-
Just read about Chita being in Kiss Me, Kate with Hal Linden.
-
When she got better reviews than he did, his spanking scene apparently got worse.
-
That’s according to Chita and her backside.
-
She didn’t care for Meredith Willson and his 1491 score.
-
But she loved John Cullum.
-
It’s a fun read.
-
Eight.
-
Well, at least we’re off page seven.

Darn it! I’m going to miss it by a month on either side. We’re down the end of October and the end of January
-
I’m excited to hear that BK will be releasing the cd of M & M
-
I spent the day with my Shelly
-
First Vixdad, Shelly, her nephew and his wife, and I all met for breakfast at a lovely diner
-
We had a lovely time and were there for two hours
-
Then everyone else went on their way and Shelly and I went to the cemetery, stopping at a flower shop on the way
-
There we visited my father and grandfather’s graves, and the graves of her grandfather and cousin
-
While in the national cemetery we met a volunteer who told us many interesting things about the cemetery
-
After that we went to the Cradke of Aviation museum
-
Our enjoyment of the exhibits was greatly enhanced by meeting a volunteer docent right at the first exhibit.
-
He proceeded to give us a private tour, telling many interesting anecdotes
-
The museum closes at 5 , and we left just before then
-
This love letter to Into the Woods is just a little too much.
https://variety.com/2023/legit/news/into-the-woods-review-ahmanson-theater-stephen-sondheim-broadway-tour-1235660010/
-
Then drove back towards my mom’s house, stopping on the way to order and buy a large pizza
-
Back at my mom’s we were joined by Vixdad and my brother and the five of us had a grand time laughing send telling stories until after 9
-
I am now exhausted and must get some sleep
-
Church in the morning!
-
Good night
-
Good night.
-
Are you telling me that George is gone AGAIN?
-
Dear, dear, dear.
-
Whatever shall we do?
-
I have a few things in mind.
-
Oh yes, I have a few things in mind.
-
One of the things I have in mind involves deadly tsetse flies.
-
Another involves listening to Love Changes Everything six hundred times in a row.
-
Another involves the Chinese water torture.
-
Another involves Chinese chestnuts.
-
Another involves page nine.

See?

Well, today is Olympia's Pride (https://www.capitalcitypride.net/mission). I'll be down there to help PFLAG Olympia (http://pflag-olympia.org/) set up their tent/booth and just be there for a while. My sister and her boyfriend are on the board, so I don't have much choice. ::)
;)
Today was a LONG day!
-
I got to the space where the PFLAG booth was at about 9:20 and helped set up.
-
We had stickers and books and flags and bracelets and lots of other things set up on the tables.
-
Once people started coming to the event, they pretty much never stopped!
-
I didn't know when the parade was supposed to start, but we heard a lot of noise about 10:45, and then my sister said that it was supposed to start at 10:30, so we didn't walk in the parade. Oh, well.
-
It was really warm, and the first time that I went to get some food, the Demo Burger booth was taking so long, so I didn't get one at that time.
-
I walked around a little more and got a deluxe hot dog with cream cheese, bacon, vegetarian chili, pineapple, and a couple of other toppings, and it was pretty darned good!
-
Here's a picture of me early in the day:
-
Gratuitous Post #250!!
-
And here's a picture of me and my sister later in the afternoon:
-
You can see that my shirt has been adorned with stickers and buttons. ;D
-
And here's a picture of the front of the booth showing the new tent/canopy:
-
That's the last of my pictures.
-
I eventually did get a Demo Burger, but they were out of the regular beef burgers, so I got a DemoImpossible burger made with an Impossible burger patty.
-
With all the regular burger toppings, it was pretty tasty.
-
At sometime around 6:00, we finally started taking everything apart and bringing them to our cars.
-
And thus ended the 2023 Olympia Pride Event!
-
Dana, the president of Olympia's PFLAG chapter, suggested going out to eat to end the day.
-
Everyone agreed and six of us went to the local Mercato Ristorante (https://www.mercatoristorante.com/).
-
I had the dinner Caesar salad with chicken, and it was as good as it always is. :)
-
Everyone enjoyed what they all had, too.
-
We all ate and chatted and drank water (I had a diet Coke with lemon...I asked for lime, though ::) ) and had a good meal as a celebratory ending to the whole day.
-
We all went to our respective homes (I assume) and then I took a much needed nap. ::)
-
;)
-
And now, I'm here.
-
Time to ketchup on all of today's posts...unless BK closes the day before I get through it all.
-
I did get Wordle done in four, but I didn't copy the grid, but it's after midnight, so it's a new Wordle now.
-
And since we're so close...
-
PAGE TEN DANCE!!

Our Romanian grandcat, Kitty, is 19 today.

I have been listening to Flaherty and Ahrens’s score for Knoxville a few times recently. I really love it.
I do, too.

OMG! SIGNS!!! I love this film!!
I forgot about Signs, too! I also really liked that one.

That's really cool, BK (except the part about William Shatner not having a line ::) ).

Prior to that, I had breakfast with Yacko at a place near him - I'd been there a couple of times before. Had the best omelet I've ever had - simple, perfect size, and so tasty - bacon and cheese, along with some excellent hash browns.
That sounds really good.

I stopped at the mail place and thankfully both important envelopes were there. Now, hopefully banks are open on Monday.
The holiday is Tuesday. Both my credit unions are open on Monday, so I would expect that banks are, too.

I wonder if Paul Anka drank Sanka.

Sounds like a nice Pride event. I wonder if they'll have a Prejudice event next to it next year.

New notes are up.

Went out for breakfast. I had "Mo's Cajun Special." Eggs and ground beef over hashbrowns with a cheese sauce and Cajun spices. Delicious.
That sounds good, too!

Up are new notes.

I've seen them.

I've read them.
