Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Laffy Taffy and Flavored Linoleum, and now it is time for you to post until the flavored cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PAMPER!
-
Good early morning to all. I wish everyone a happy and healthy Independence Day and a fantastic rest of the week.
-
Good morning, HHW!
-
Topic Of Discussion:
Bangkok, Thailand
Hong Kong, before 1997, and still a British colony
French Polynesia…the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora
All wonderful and unforgettable.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Enjoyed last evening's quotes, DR George.

For everyone's edification, blushing peach pie:

Because, you know. Pie.

I had to reboot this damned computer.

~~~CONTINUED MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!!!
Today I have to turn a 19th century second-rate composition into a Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers number. I fear I may be creating a third-rate composition. I've been thinking about what to do with this number for the past day, and I'm still not sure I know what to do with it.
-
TOD:
Like DR DR Iris, I was also in Hong Kong and China. In the late 1970's. An amazing trip.
-
That sounds like a challenge indeed, DR elmore3003.
-
Doug sent me an mp3 file of his piano reduction from the original Russian score, so I think I'll listen t that for a bit and see if anything strikes me.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Weird dreams that I had had before. I was working on maps of Paris and getting no help.
But not an inactive one.
Elmore, channel your inner Cole Porter/Irving Berlin/Vincent Youmans on that foxtrot and have fun with it. Love that slinky, playful sound. Sexy, brassy, beautiful.
We had thunder and rain last night after midnight that were among the most intense I’ve heard.
-
Reviewing my lines.
-
I think we will have all of the light cues in place tonight - that is the rumor....we shall see.
I hope that includes the lights backstage.
-
Chance of more storms tomorrow, too, but I don’t know the timing.
We’ll be at our friends’ annual bash tomorrow evening. I remember one year they had to have their big outdoor picnic indoors. I wonder if there might be a repeat of that this year.
-
Reviewing my lines.
I would suggest reviewing the situation, too, DR Jrand72.
-
We had thunder and rain last night after midnight that were among the most intense I’ve heard.
We had a burst of thunder around 7:30 last night that sent Thatch under the bed for over an hour.
-
And dammit, I forgot I had an eye appointment this morning. I just rescheduled: Aug. 2.
Exotic to me, includes...
Venice, italy
Rome, italy
Florence, Italy
Beatenberg, Switzerland
Athens, Greece
Hong Kong
Perth, Australia
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Mombasa, Kenya
...and London, England
Anything other than "here" is "exotic". I guess I could add Los Angeles to that. Certainly different from anywhere else I have been.
Good early morning to all. I wish everyone a happy and healthy Independence Day and a fantastic rest of the week.
Same to you, Michael!
Another swell night's sleep.
Loads of vanished dreams.
Can it be the third of July already?
My Sunday Zoom chat was invigorating and fun. We had a nice assemblage of disparate characters and opinions. Alway interesting.
Our Pakistani member was not in attendance, though. He recently moved his family into a new house and has been working days and unpacking at nights. Two kids, as well.
I am wondering who here has ever seen the film "Shattered Glass". That was a topic of discussion by the two members who had seen it, and I am now looking forward to seeing it.
-
We had thunder and rain last night after midnight that were among the most intense I’ve heard.
This was forecast for us, as well, but I heard nothing. Looking out my window, everything still looks dry, so missed us.
-
I have a small RANT!
Phone just rang.
Jerry from some warranty company was informing me that the warranty on my 2012 Nissan Frontier was expiring and that I had not responded to the letter they recently sent me,
Grrrrrr!
I informed Jerry that my used Frontier came with NO warranty, that I have never done business with his so-called company and that I would appreciate it if he would stop calling me.
He hung up before I could finish.
While I realize that is an awful lot of STUPID out there in the world, it does not enter my door.
-
Listening to MSNBC in background.
So sick of DeSantis, Pence, and the pustule that won't go away.
-
Shattered Glass is a very good film. I’ve watched it several times. The kid who was in Star Wars sequels is excellent.
-
Suriname is the most exotic place I’ve been, and I’d like to return.
-
Botswana was my favorite exotic locale, and it was the best trip because of all the animals on safari. I wish I had had more than a day in Morocco.
I didn't go get my Burger King Bundle yesterday afternoon because it was raining so hard.
So I went this morning at 10:50 a.m. since breakfast service starts at 10:30 a.m.
I went in, some folks sitting in booths.....no one else at the counter. I handed the young lady my coupon and asked for the Family Bundle. She said: "We don't do that no more."
And then she started laughing and said: "I'm just foolin' witchu."
It didn't take too long.....and now everything is put away to be eaten over the next few days. But I am having a WHOPPER for lunch right now.
-
I don't think I'll have to eat anything else today.
-
Nice photos DR JOHN G. Or did I say that already?
DR RON PULLIAM about that warranty......
...Yes??
-
I have the first round of Wimbledon 2023 on the TV.
Listening more than watching.
-
Who here remembers Janet Cook and her Pulitzer-prize winning story "Jimmy's World"?
And the scandal that ensued??
-
Tonight is a Buck Full Moon - so named by Native Americans because this is the time of year that a buck's antlers are full grown.
Venus & Mars will be visible to the west and Saturn and Jupiter will rise early on Tuesday morning......
-
Good time to make a wish at 11:11 p.m. in your time zone.
-
I have never been to an exotic location.....and I've never been to me.
-
That story is not ringing a bell DR RON PULLIAM.
-
My only travel has been to London and Dublin, but I do think I live in the most exotic place I've ever been.
-
Blossom Dearie is singing "I Won't Dance." And I almost believe her.
From George:
I drove by Fred Meyer and their non-discounted price was $4.79
We buy their discounted gas.
-
From Rodzinski:
However expensive gas gets, the Canadians come here in droves to buy our cheaper American gas.
WOW!
-
From George:
As much as Americans complain about how much gas costs, we still pay comparatively less than a lot of the world.
https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/gasoline_prices/
Interesting. I had no idea.
-
From George:
A bicycle is a bike, a tricycle is a trike, but a motorcycle is not a moke.
I like this one. It would be less confusing if it were a moke instead of a bike.
I don't think I'll have to eat anything else today.
My friend Shelly invited me over for some turkey chili today. Hopefully, it's for lunch because I'm going to a new (to me) casino, and we'll most likely eat dinner there.
Back from cashing a check - three minutes, in and out. Walked over to my bank and deposited the cash - fifteen minutes in and out due to only one teller.
-
I ordered a Marco's Pizza on the phone then picked it up, thereby saving seven bucks for DoorDash. The pizza is two bucks cheaper at the place - they tack on two bucks to help alleviate what DoorDash takes from them.
-
I had sausage and pepperoni this time - very good.
-
Now, I'm full.
-
DR vixmom, your book meme is exactly right.
-
My FedEx package was delivered!
-
YAY!
Now I can relax and go for a walk.
How much would DoorDash be from LA to the Twin Cities? I want Marco's.
DR Jane - but this was NOT your meds, correct?
We are going to two different social gatherings tomorrow, so I'll be errant and truant most of the day.
It's a little messy, but it's very secure.
I have started getting things from Amazon Vine. I wore one shirt and have two more to wear. Pants coming tomorrow or Wednesday. Got a tool to shred chicken. Another provides motion detector lights in low places. Meant for a walk-in closet.
Preview Harvey is on my stack - on the top - the play opens a week from Thursday, but I am hoping I have time to read it this weekend!
Now I am on my way to rehearsal.
When in doubt, I just say, "Drop that mess like a hot potato."
DR Jane - but this was NOT your meds, correct?
What arrived in my mailbox was a gift. The FedEx delivery was my, just in time, meds delivery.
The meds I received are in a bottle that is almost identical to the container from New Zealand, except for the name of the manufacturer. I know the formula is the same as the discounted manufacturer purchased the formula when they manufactured the drugs in the States.
-
I can only hope the $27 more I am paying every 90 days is going to the employees who work in the lower paying jobs vs the top level people.
Interesting. I thought the delivery service would charge the customer receiving the order, not the restaurant.
Aside from the locations I commented on, I include Greenland and the Canadian Arctic as exotic places we have visited.
I'm so tired
God dammit I'm exhausted!"
Okay, maybe not quite that tired.
-
I didn’t feel like watching anything last night.
-
Tonight, first up is Secret of the Indes with Charlton Heston, Robert Young, Thomas Mitchell and warbling sensation Yma Sumac.
-
Went to Applebee’s last night and managed to get a free ticket to the new Indiana Jones movie.
-
I like free.
-
It’s in my price range.
-
The most exotic vacation i had was to Hawaii about 40 years ago.
-
My other trips have been more mundane
-
Last night my niece flew back in from the UK
-
It was slso my BFF's last day with us befire she flew home to Michigan this morning
-
So Vixdad and I took Mom, Shelly and the niece to dinner at a local Chinese restaurant.
-
It us right up the rosd from my house and I always thought it was a take away place
-
But there were some good reviews on the web so we gave it a chance
-
It is a small but lovely restaurant and the food was delicous and plentiful
So, Secret of the Incas is definitely a precursor of Raiders of the Lost Ark, except Charlton Heston here is no substitute for Harrison Ford. And some of the camera angles make him resemble one of Singdaw’s ID badgers.
Eight?
Eight.
-
Tonight we watched the series finale of Endeavor. It was a nice coda.
-
We've got local yokels shooting off fireworks here, too.
-
We don't need no stinkin' fireworks.
-
Good night, friends.
-
The pace of the movie is slooow.
-
I remember watching that INCA movie on tv with commercials many years ago....I thought the color was good.
-
DR RON PULLIAM thanks for the link - yes I remember the story now....even now I wonder if some of her editors didn't quite believe the story - why did they run it?
And what else had/have they let go? Of course now - journalism isn't held to a very high standard and truth be damned in some quarters.
-
Rehearsal was okay tonight....we are rehearsing tomorrow night - wearing our microphones....and recording an interview with the director.....so it will be a full night.
-
I just had to call for a line twice......I really just needed the first word....
-
DR JANE we can only hope the money is distributed equitably.
-
When I was growing up we had linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom....my mother used Spic And Span to keep it shiny!
-
Linoleum is linseed oil solidified by oxidation.
They even nominated it for a Pulitzer!
-
Starting the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers. What fun. And definitely faster paced. It pack a lot into 80 minutes.
-
Ran to the grocery tonight. It was surprisingly empty on the night before a holiday.
-
Great Carmen Dragon score. He was the father of the Captain, not Tennille.
-
I think Moms for Liberty are the real pod people.
-
And the Republicans who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Fireworks going off like crazy.
-
Poor dogs.
-
What?
-
What what?
-
Onward.
-
Nine!
-
Ann-Margaret has a new album coming out. Pete Townsend duets with her on one cut.
-
I just realized what Yma Sumac’s singing reminds me of: a Theremin.
-
That was good. I hadn’t seen that in ages.
-
Good night, all.
That's so cool! Congrats, Larry!
Today, my mom and I went to the Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, Washington, just to go somewhere different that the usual Red Wind Casino near Yelm.
-
We both lost some money, but what do you really expect at a casino. ;)
-
You play the slots?
-
Anyway, it wasn't as good a casino as the Red Wind, so after less than an hour (not much more than half an hour, I'm sure), we decided to go to Yelm and lose some money there.
-
Gratuitous Post #250!!
-
You play the slots?
Nothing but. I've never played any card games at a casino.
-
You can't play Phase 10 for money. ::)
-
:))
-
Anyway, we lost more money at the Red Wind, but we also ate there.
-
I had the battered cod with garlic bread (that's what's included in the meal), and my side-of-choice was tater tots.
-
My mom had a roast beef sandwich.
-
We both enjoyed our meals.
-
After dining, we played (and lost) a little bit more, and we finally decided to leave.
-
I bought a cup of sugar-free strawberry cheesecake ice cream just as we were leaving the casino, and it was quite tasty.
-
I ate a little bit as I was driving, but not much...my mom held on to it until we got to her house, where I finished it safely. ;)
-
We watched a little bit of MSNBC, and then I left to come home.
-
But first, I had to get some milk from Fred Meyer, so I did.
-
I also got some Nutter Butter peanut butter cookies that had extra peanut butter cream! :D
-
I've never seen that before!
