Well, you've read the notes, the notes wore shorts, and now it is time for you to post until the short cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HELPFUL!
-
Welcome, 157 GUESTS!
-
Notes perceived. Experienced.
-
Thanks for the Ratings Game recollections, BK. Goomba Goomba Goomba…
Did you produce your contributions yourself?
Did you do some of the instrumental themes, like the Hill Strret Blues takeoff for The Dawn Patrol? Or only the vocal songs.
How involved was DeVito with the music?

Goombas Theme

-
Also the MBC promo theme is so perfectly real. “We’ve got the shows…”
-
George, I attended a benefit concert of In Trousers in 1993.
I think it was recorded.
Will investigate.
-

Yes!
They recorded some of it, if you’re interested.
Please excuse the language.
Chip Zien is Marvin…this was before Michael Rupert was involved.
-
I know they recorded that Falsettos reunion, but I can’t find it in their extensive catalog.
The catalog from L.A. Theater Works is wonderful, and everything is available for purchase.
-

I have a feeling this will be of interest to many here on HHW.
-
One more note on Falsettos.
I was watching some of the songs on YouTube, and was surprised to see Mandy Patinkin in the role of Marvin.
Am I the last to know?
-
TOD:
I frequently look forward to seeing film versions of musicals, and am almost always disappointed.
Examples:
Nine
Hello Again
Sweeney Todd
Into The Woods
Thr Producers
-
I no longer have high expectations for any musical-film adaptations.
Am open for suggestions.

Thanks for the link, Iris! And I knew about the "language." Of course, it doesn't offend me, at all. ;)

I definitely knew about this website.

Am I the last to know?
No, you weren't the last to know! I didn't know about Mandy being in the show.
-
George, after listening to both, I much prefer the original recording of In Trousers.
Pass The Sugar Please is one of the saddest end of marriage songs I’ve ever heard.
I think the title of the song is actually A Breakfast Over Sugar.

Mandy as Marvin.
-
I wrote all the music for all the themes like The Dawn Patrol and all those music-only things, and the lyrics for those that had lyrics. DeVito had nothing to say about the music. I'd worked with the producer several times and he loved my parodies and the stuff we did together, so he knew I could deliver. The composer of the score did the orchestrations for my stuff and I was at all those sessions. I know DeVito was super happy with the themes.
-

I have MP3s of this concert. It's my understanding that it was only broadcast on the radio, so no physical product was made available to purchase.

Cool!

Good morning, sirrahs!
And Damen.
-
Otherwise, "Hey, y'all".
-
Today is day 1 of Amazon's two-day deals extravaganza.
I was up rather early and bought a new electric toothbrush. This one may be special because it seemingly talks to you and tells you how to brush various segments of your teeth.
I may have to bitch-slap it if it gets annoying, but otherwise, I'm looking forward to using it.
-
FWIW, it is 6:15 a.m. here in Johnston SC on this 11th day of July 2023.
The skies are clear and it is 68 degrees of temperature. High should reach 90.
-
That's it.
That's all I know.
From here on, it will be gibberish (moreso than before, that is).
-
Slept okay. Not brag-worthy.
Dreamed dumb dreams, one of which had to do with some associates doing a negative video review of something that for which they had already done a positive video review for.
They needed my help with some aspect of starting their recording, but they stupidly thought i did not realize what it was they were doing.
I knew, as they didn't, that they were only allowed ONE review and it had already been recorded.
I was bemused.
-
With that silly thought...

...Page 2.
-
It is now time for a cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin (I have two left).
-
Good morning, all!
-
I woke up to an email that has be puzzled, perplexed, and pissed. I've been obsessing over it for the past 30-45 minutes, trying to decide whether I respond or drop the friend.
-
This morning is a laundry one. This afternoon, my goddaughter Charlotte is coming by to visit. I don't think I've seen her since the pandemic closed everything down. I look forward to her visit.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, friends.

Apparently BK was doing drag before it became illegal.

I know that "shorts" pop up randomly on FB, but I don't know how you can see specific ones, or ones from a specific poster. 'Tis a mystery to me.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I never saw The Ratings Game, so seeing (and hearing) those excerpts is a pleasure.
-
The shorts thing is a complete mystery here, too, but I do want to know something about it.
-

That having been said, I did NOT notice the error in the Harvey scrapbook, so I must get back on that.
-
Thank you DR Iris.
-
With the chill factor it is only 51 degrees here.
-
Since Keith only has summer clothes he decided not to walk over for mediocre coffee and we drove to Dutch Brothers instead.
-
Since there wasn't a line, and it is only a short drive, it look less time then when we walk to the closer location.
-
I miss having the walk, especially on a day when we will be sitting in the car.
-
DR Iris, while you are planning your escape from Maryland I occasionally think about moving there. I would have preferred the weather this last winter.
-
Iris, where is it you want to make your escape?
-

I am pretty sure I would find a talking toothbrush very annoying.

A Talking Toothbrush - a suspense film by Alfred Hitchcock.
-
Finished the slideshow about 1 a.m.
-
Did some grocery shopping, etc, this morning.
And now I will work on the lobby display.
-
Another dress rehearsal tonight.
-
No word from AMAZON yet about my review being posted.
They are too busy selling electric toothbrushes.

I'm not up, I'm not up - four hours of sleep. I'll go back to bed as soon as there's quiet.
-
Tree trimming somewhere on this street, some loud what sounds like a generator on this street. Began at eight. And now - it all just stopped, but I'll wait and see if it's going to start up again.
-
So, I believe what I see on Facebook are really Instagram posts or shorts made on Facebook and shared there. So, the YouTube things I did last night are on YouTube but I have no idea who sees them.
-
Generator thing just started up and it sounds like it's coming from Grant's place next door.
-
And - it is. Damn them, damn them all the HELL.
-
Sounds like they're trimming the trees in his yard or maybe it's the house he's restoring next to that. It's not HERE. But this is gonna go on for some time.
-
And they're blocking the driveway.
-
I never saw The Ratings Game, so seeing (and hearing) those excerpts is a pleasure.
Ditto.
-
BK - maybe you should tell them to eat YOUR SHORTS.
-
That'll show 'em.
-
Happy birthday, Dr Vixmommom.
-
Thursday is Mom’s 96th.
-
Wow! 96.
-
Had myriad disjointed dreams last night.
-
Since I did not win the Powerball last night, I will not be quitting my job today.
-
Just in case you were wondering.
-
With 650 million, I could have set myself up as a philanthropist.
-
And charity begins at home.
-
Or so I've heard.
-
Sweet Charity.
-
They tried Sour Charity.
-
But Sweet Charity seemed to work better.

-
And folks kept getting it confused with sour cherries, for some reason.

-
DR Ron Pulliam, will your talking toothbrush tell jokes? Read the weather forecast? Run down your stock portfolio? Suggest recipes?
-
The possibilities are almost endless!
-
I am breathless with anticipation!
-
Thursday is Mom’s 96th.
Wonderful. How is she doing?
-
Happy birthday, Dr Vixmommom.

They're re-making Wonka AGAIN??
-
Oy.
-
I've never listened to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida...
But if Ina Garten married Danny Devito, she's be Ina Garten Devito.

The REAL reason why BK didn't get any sleep last night:
-
They're re-making Wonka AGAIN??
:o
-
Who is going to star in the Wonka remake?
-
I looked it up, not a remake.
-
It is a prequel about a young Willy Wonka and how he met the Oompa-Loompas.
-
I am super tired.
-
At least I'm not driving.
-
Thirty minutes to the car wash 🙂
-
Then a stp at Safeway for veggies and fruit.
-
Then home.
-
Bruce and Jeanne, did you see that the Village Theater is for sale?

The Simpsons did a hilarious riff of this with an organist playing it in church. Homer turns to Marge and whispers something lije, “Remember when we used to make out to that hymn?”

Tuesday afternoon greetings! Long time, no see…
-
Two days after the last time I posted, we drove to Michigan to help my niece (from Florida) help her parents (my sister and her husband) prepare to move to a senior citizens apartment. On the way we stopped in Findlay, OH, for a fun lunch with niece Rev. Amy and her family.
-
At my sister’s there was lots of talk, lots of laughter, some tears, and a great deal of sorting and distributing of stuff. The day before we were to leave there was some reconsideration which eventually resulted in their deciding to stay in their home and hire some help.
-
We left there on July 4 and drove as far as Lima, OH, where we stayed overnight so that Fr. Richard could conduct the Wednesday funeral of a former parishioner. By the time we got home that evening we were both exhausted.
-
By Sunday I was ready to resume our own downsizing process, so I culled the CD collection. We’ll take 2 boxes to the AAUW book sale site next week.
-
Today, I tackled the travel files, resulting in 3 bags of recycling.
-
Happiest of birthdays to the mothers of DRs Vixmom and John G!

Thursday is Mom’s 96th.
A Very Happy (early) Birthday to John's Mom!

That's a lot, DR Ginny. No wonder you're exhausted.
-
I am sure that you and DH Keith are glad to be a the end of this particular journey, DR Jane.

They're re-making Wonka AGAIN??
I'd heard about that...with Timothée Chalamet...and it's going to be a musical...and Hugh Grant is a (the?) Oompa Loompa.

Iris, where is it you want to make your escape?
Jane, I’m considering a retirement community in a wooded area, an hour train ride to Manhattan. It’s a fairly large community on 1000 acres.
The town is Somers, NY, which looks like it’s not too far from where DR Chas lives.
-
I'm up again - I think I got three more hours of sleep. And a modern major miracle.
Hoo and ray.
Hoo and Ray is right! Congrats, BK!
-
If my daughter and her husband had not settled in Brooklyn, I would have probably moved to a beach community in California.
There is no reason for me to stay in Baltimore now that my family members have passed away.
-
Jane, there are some exceptionally lovely areas in Maryland if you’re considering moving here.
Chevy Chase, Potomac, Bethesda and Columbia are all very nice.
I have lived in Silver Spring, which I liked. Baltimore is just not the right place for me.

Preview, the built-in image reader in macOS, does indeed do this. Just display the sidebar with page thumbnails, and move 'em around. I think there are other PDF capabilities as well, I just haven't explored them.

It was a helluva morning. After kitty cleanup, I went to the basement and washed some clothes. The primary reason to do the laundry was the bathroom rug that Annabelle had thrown up on. I put the laundry in the two dryers and came upstairs to make the bed and call Access-a-Ride. I also replied to the bothersome email I received this morning.
-
Forty-five minutes later, I returned to the basement to find that one dryer was not blowing hot air; Ihad wasted $2.00 and 45 minutes of my life, So, I put the damp rug and a few other wet items into the good dryer and sat for 45 minutes while the things dried ands I screamed several choice four-letter words for about thirty minutes.

It sounds like a nice trip, only with more of what you have been doing already with your home ;)
-
At my sister’s there was lots of talk, lots of laughter, some tears, and a great deal of sorting and distributing of stuff. The day before we were to leave there was some reconsideration which eventually resulted in their deciding to stay in their home and hire some help.

It was nice he could be there to conduct the service.
-
When everything was dry, I brought the laundry up, watched my soap, took a needed bath, dressed, fed the cats their dinner, and Charlotte arrived. We had a loverly vist, and I showed her all of Jeremy's illustrations for Annabelle & Thatch, which she loved. Our visit lasted a little more than 90 minutes. When she left, I ordered dinner from MacDonalds - it was too late to cook anything - and then I washed the cats' dishes, gave them clean water, gave them a treat, and my dinner arrived. I'm ready to close shop for the evening. I think I may watch Tick Tick . . . Boom.
-
And what a coinkydink! Today is my sister's boyfriend's seventy-somethingth birthday!
Happy birthday to him.
-
I am sure that you and DH Keith are glad to be a the end of this particular journey, DR Jane.
We sure are.

The treatments continue to work and kill the cancer cells. We return in six weeks to confirm it worked.

Right, closer to your daughter makes more sense. Have you looked at Brooklyn? A wooded retirement community does sound nice.
-

Chevy Chase, Potomac, Bethesda and Columbia are all very nice.
I have lived in Silver Spring, which I liked. Baltimore is just not the right place for me.
Our son worked in Chevy Chase for awhile. I participated in a four year study at the NIH and liked Bethesda, and the surrounding areas. I toy with the idea of moving there but doubt we ever will.
-
I'm up again - I think I got three more hours of sleep. And a modern major miracle.
Congratulations.
-
We also toy with the idea of moving to Las Vegas as we have family there, and friends, plus it is closer to LA. It is also terribly hot in the summer and there is a constant drought.
-
And what a coinkydink! Today is my sister's boyfriend's seventy-somethingth birthday!
Happy birthday to him.
Thanks, Jane.

I am like George of a few weeks back, riding in a loaner as my car needed service so I drove down to “normie” Washington. Drove around Bellingham in the loaner. Bellingham is like a mini Portland. Big hippie vibes and related charm, some big money, and some people living in all kinds of flux, like they don’t give a flux. I hit up a couple thrifts and a big antique mall. Then mechanic said they should do my brakes, which I expected. So the ol’ RX 350 is gone for the night.
-
Checked with our local hardware store on the status of a window I ordered to replace the one into which a bird smashed. Turns out they HAD the window last week, but their forklift guy accidentally destroyed three windows of which mine was one of the unlucky. And that’s the breaks.

Our niece is the United Methodist district superintendent for NW Ohio and they bought her predecessor’s house.
-
DR Rodzinski is it more expensive to have work done on your car in Canada?
-
Jane, why would you leave WA?
I am restless, and I wouldn't mind being closer to our children. We don't see them enough.
-
We do like Washington, though we still miss Ashland.

Jane, it was my son-in-law’s dream to move to Ashland as a cast member of the Oregon Shakespeare Theater Festival. He auditioned for years, but finally gave up.
My daughter also loved Ashland, after visiting with her high school classmates for several years in a row.
They are very happy in Brooklyn, but that dream of Ashland persisted for many years.
-
They still talk about productions that they attended 20 years ago.
What made you decide to move?
They’ve been having problems with smoke, but so are we.
-
I love visiting Manhattan and Brooklyn, but I prefer a less crowded and noisy environment as a permanent location.
-

I totally understand. The years seem to go by way too fast.

I understand it is hard to get jobs in the festival. It is a wonderful small town.

Twenty years ago we were there.
-
Finished the tuna pasta salad and some ice cream.
-
I am now sated.
-
Full.
-
And now, back to writing a few more pages.
-
DR Iris we had a beautiful home on twenty acres outside of town. We loved the house, the landscaping, the views of both the Cascades and Siskiyou mountains. Twenty acres, four of which were landscaped, was a lot of work. Simply taking care of the long driveway and road when it snowed was hard work for Keith. I couldn't help with most of the yard work.
-
Had we been able to find another single story home, with an attached garage, in town we would have stayed.

I understand that.

The smoke settles in Ashland and has been a problem for years. We would have smoke from California, Washington, and Oregon settle on us.
-
Our house sold so quickly we hadn't even had time to decide where we wanted to move. We chose here because we had good friends here, plus we had hopes Bryan would move back to Portland. He had talked about doing just that. We also wanted to be close to an airport with more non-stop options.
-
We looked in Portland but decided to stay on the Washington side of the river, and enjoy not having income tax.
-
Often we still go to Oregon to shop without paying sales tax.
-
Checked with our local hardware store on the status of a window I ordered to replace the one into which a bird smashed. Turns out they HAD the window last week, but their forklift guy accidentally destroyed three windows of which mine was one of the unlucky. And that’s the breaks.
Yikes! :o

Not with the Canadian dollar. But the dealership for my make has terrible reviews.

Hello, everyone.

Happy Birthday to various HHW extended family members.

Me, too. Do you know of a good independent? I loved my Volvo, but I so loathed the dealer that I couldn’t bring myself to do business with them again. I take my Audi to an independent and they’ve saved me a ton of money.

Today was errand day. When I came home my neighbor, whose parking spot is adjacent to mine, was washing his car. “Wanna do mine?” I asked. I didn’t expect a yes, but felt it was worth a try. “I didn’t even want to do mine,” was the reply. I came in and put away my groceries. By the time I was finished eating my tacos there was a knock on my door. Said neighbor said he’d hosed down my car and gotten 90% of the dirt off. His OCD gets the best of him. Once his car is clean he doesn’t like it sitting next to a dirty car. I offered him a snack bar or som ChocZero milk chocolate with raspberry. He chose the snack bar. I’ll have to keep some treats on hand. He washes his car a lot and I wouldn’t mind making a habit of this.

Sadly, no, and I'd like to. She always comes here (or back East, when I lived there).

Thanks for posting that, singdaw!

*****
Sounds heavenly!
-
It does sound like it would take tons of upkeep.
Still…
-
I ate too much today and didn't exercise. Now I am paying for my crime.
-
Just the usual when I eat, stomach ache which in turn causes my back to ache plus I'm a bit nauseated. Overall, not bad for me.
-
It does sound like it would take tons of upkeep.
Still…
I know. We also had to cancel trips due to the land requiring our attention. Life is simple here but not as pretty-lol

I am going to get comfy on the heating pad which makes me feel better.

My name is Talking Toothbrush and I'm going to kill you.

Fell asleep for an hour.

In five minutes I'll finish the section I'm writing.

If you watch the video tour of Sondheim's house you will hear in the background my recording of Who's That Woman from Follies. :)
-
Therefore, I think the house should be given to ME.
-
I wonder if all the Sondheim stuff comes with?
-
I sent him many of my books - wonder if they're all on the shelves.
-
I wish I had an OCD neighbor who would come over and clean my house lest it gives her pains to be next door to my mess.

So, seriously: No one else bought anything on this, the first day of the Amazon two-day super sale?
I am glad the notion of a talking toothbrush has amused/bemused some of you.

Rehearsal was okay tonight....one more and then OPENING NIGHT!

It's in the paper so I guess we have to do it.
-
The box office was a'buzzin' tonight with folks wanting to buy tickets!
-
So there you are.

Curious and interested about MR BK's new writing project.
I think I will go ahead and do an Amazon review.

Maybe by the time the project is realized - the review will be posted.

I finished Better Living Through Birding, Christian Cooper’s memoir. He was the Central Park birder who video taped the woman who wouldn’t put her dog on his leash.

Black, gay and fascinating, he has a good story to tell.

I’ve now started something called Starring Adele Astaire. It’s a novel. It’s only sorta interesting so far. I may hold off on finishing it.
-
Too much of the first chapter was taken from Royal Wedding. Adele even says, “Too late now.”
-
Figured out how to share the YouTube Shorts to Instagram (and Facebook) as a Reel. I am WITH IT, baby. I haven't mastered the art of the clips yet, but I'll get there. It could be much easier, but why would they want to do THAT.

Oh, you want to know what we bought? The things Amazon discounts aren’t usually the things I’m looking for, but I did plan to purchase a portable DVD player. Guess what? The one I had in mind was reduced from $90 to $71.99, then down to $67.67. I also needed AA batteries and those were marked down, too.
I’m very last century.

DR Iris, the retirement community sounds lovely. Near NYC, but not right in it. I’d make the same choice.

Sondheim’s townhouse is fabulous. I’m surprised it’s not more than $7 million.
I wonder who all the artwork goes to. There’s lots of it. Surely it’s not being sold with the house. Some may go to auction.

It seems like a perfect balance, right?
Gardens, birds, lakes, walks in nature, combined with the excitement, culture, theater, and experiences that only Manhattan can provide.
-
Hi, Jeanne. Doing good. I went to my acupuncturist today for a tuneup. Feel good.

Good night, all.

Perhaps we should all pool our resources and purchase Sondheim’s home for future HHW get-togethers.
Would be worth $7 million, don’t you think?

and…me.😂

George, are you referring to Jane’s Ashland home? We had just been discussing the upkeep involved in her former home. Or are you referring to Sondheim’s townhouse?
I did read that property taxes for Sondheim’s townhouse would be approximately $72,000 annually.

I'm thinking about doing a Go Fund Me to purchase the Sondheim house.

It's the one thing that could ever get me to move to New York.

We only need 1.1 million down and then the payments are a very reasonable 43K a month. But I'm thinking the Go Fund Me can raise all seven million and we'll pay cash.
