Well, you've read the notes, the notes were funny as pavement, and now it is time for you to post until the funny as pavement cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SALVO!
-
Today, I'm going to IKEA with my sister and her boyfriend. I don't know what she wants to get, but we'll eat there. It's been a few years since I've been, so I'm looking forward to the meatballs. :)
-
I don't know what she wants to get
Whatever it is, it'll have to be assembled. Unless it's the meatballs.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I really don't understand the TikTok interface. It is just so non-intuitive.
-
But I finally managed to like the Outside the Box clips.
-
I do hope that BK can find a way to stream the Sami soundtrack.
-
Good morning, all!
-
To quote Mother Hare, I'm so mad I could spit!
-
I purchased the computer on Wednesday at noon. The debit card went through. I noticed on Thursday that the charge had not yet posted, so I called my bank. They had no record of the charge, so I called the Apple Store and spoke to a nice young lady. She explained the charge would not go through until the computer was ready. So, this morning around 4:15a.m., I got an email from my bank wanting to know if the Apple charge ad several others were mine or was there fraud?
-
Now, who in the fat hell responds to an email at 4:15a.m? Then along came a second email around 6:30a.m. from my bank wanting me to respond yes ir no to these charges. Apple sent me a email stating they were having a problem with my payment.
This is maybe the fourth time that my goddamned fucking bank has pulled this crap and screwed up an order. I am frankly fed up with it.
-
In this case they screwed up around 5-6 orders, the computer purchase and everything after it.
-
Now that I've vented, can I ask you to please sign this petition?

Good morning, all.
-
To say Henry Jaglom is as funny as pavement is an insult to pavement.
-
Wordle 6, Phoodle 4
-
Good morning, all.
-
I got to lounge in bed a little later than usual, which is nice.
-
This evening I must make an attempt to see my friends’ ADDAMS FAMILY at the local outdoor theeder. I say “attempt” because of this never-ending rain cycle we’re in that stands to shut down a show even if not in the forecasts. But it only plays one more weekend and I have to work other things in, too. So this shall be their one chance to entertain me.
-
The good news is the situation is resolved after two phone calls:
1. 8:00a.m. phone call to my bank where I cursed the rep in the debit card dept. I think when I slammed the phone down that the situation was resolved in my favor.
2. 9:15 call to the Apple Store on the Upper West Side where I bought the computer. I spoke to a lovely lady named Ruth who ran the debit card again,. and it went through. I then checked my bank balance, all it's verified.
Now the bad new: I can no onger afford to keep my helper. I only have so much ballet money left to cover the electricity bills for the AC and other living expenses for the next couple of months.
-
Notes reconnoitered. Copied.
-
Ugh, Elmore. That happened to us recently. Wife paid for something. Bank robocalled to verify but phone service was spotty and she didn’t get the message for a couple hours by which time they’d blocked the purchase. I guess it’s for our protection, but sheesh.
-
No Henry Jaglom fans here? I’ve never seen anything of his but he was able to make a lot of movies.
-
TOD: Wheeler & Woolsey
-
Yes, banks do screw up transactions at times. I always have my phone with me, but I keep the volume down. The bank sends an alert at the time of a charge, but I don't hear it and only learn about it hours after transaction.
Thus far, I have managed to salvage all those purchases after-the-fact. The bank is making sure my card hasn't been stolen. BUT I am not always being challenged by the bank when I make a purchase and find some of them are typical for me, rather than something they should find suspicious.
Ah, well.
-
Good Saturday to one and all.
It's overcast, 83 and thunderstorms "may" occur this afternoon when the heat should reach 91 degrees of temperature and well over 100 in "feels like" terms.
-
No Henry Jaglom fans here? I’ve never seen anything of his but he was able to make a lot of movies.
Have never been tempted to view his films.

TOD:
Abbott and Costello
Laurel and Hardy
The Marx Brothers
The Three Stooges
Tom and Jerry
Rowan and Martin
-
Let's get off this page.
-
TWO!!
-
Now what?
-
What say?
-
Air quality here is over 100 and back to unhealthy.
-
So sorry DR ELMORE....yes AC is murder on the electric bill!
Glad the bank fracas was solved.
-
Don't stop breathing DR singdaw - even if the air is hazardous to your health.
-
So tonight it our fabulous first Saturday night and I am hoping for a big responsive audience.
Time will tell.
-
Hmmmm TOD:
Abbott & Costello - although their tv series had so many extra folks I couldn't take at all i.e. Joe Besser in a kid's suit.
The Three Stooges can still make me laugh....best with Curly, Larry, and Moe.
The Smothers Brothers

~~~HEFTY MITTS AND HEARTY LAUGHS VIBES~~~ for DR Jrand72 & Company!!!!!!
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep but it was good, sound sleep so, I'll take it.
-
I know nothing of TikTok and hate it but I did an account when we did the Sami the Series account, so I could like stuff. But I was curious about how many views we'd get on the same Shorts there, so I posted them. As on Instagram and YouTube, The Miracle Worker is the one that really gets the views - not sure why that is. As of last night, that one had over 840 on TikTok as opposed to the others that were all under three hundred.
-
Good thing I got up at eight. She of the Evil Eye gets here earlier and earlier and this time it was 8:35.
-
I don't know what she wants to get
Whatever it is, it'll have to be assembled. Unless it's the meatballs.
Yup...and I'll probably have to assemble it/them. ::)
That's great about the charges and the bank, but not about the helper. :-\
DR George I suggest you stop opening the links to TikTok that your friend sends ;D
Good morning.
TOD:
Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis
Most of the renowned comedy teams didn't cause me to crack a smile. I appreciate the classic silliness ofthe Marx Bros.,, and Abbott and Costello as well as Laurel and Hardy.
They never made me laugh, however, and Martin and Lewis did.
-
We had one hellacious rainfall for about 25 minutes.
It is now a bit sunnier, with dark clouds intermingled with blue sky.
-
Things that made me laugh when I was a kid:
Snagglepuss
Yakky Doodle
Loved both these characters....on shows like "Huckleberry Hound" and "Yogi Bear".
I also liked Natasha and Boris on "Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Saturday afternoon greetings! We had planned an outing for today, but postponed it to Monday because of all-day thunderstorms. Basement work continues and, so far, I’ve shredded cancelled checks from my “Mary Richards” era (1973-78) and weeded through an AAUW archival box. I have no idea how THAT ended up in our basement.
-
Back from breakfast (eggs Benedict at the Coral Cafe), visiting some nearby thrift shops, picking up mail from the mail place, including a little residual that will buy three or four meals.
-
I am back from a nice walk.
-
I could have gone farther than four miles, but it is hot out there.
-
I should have started earlier.
-
I was able to do much of it in the shade.
-
The sunny part was done first. Since there was a nice breeze at the time I was comfortable.
DR Ginny, mark my words --
I give it a week, maybe two, before you suddenly have need to pull out one of those checks...
Graeter’s today: Vienna coffee and lemon sorbet
Mom doesn’t like changing channels on her TV. So it stays on CbS because of Jeopardy and, to a lesser extent, Wheel of Fortune. As a result, she had on golf this morning and Big 3 basketball now.
Think lemon peel with espresso
No.
I enjoy William Kent Krueger's books and have been slowly working my way through his Cork O'Connor mysteries.
-
Next up to read is the 10th book, however, it seems the library is now only carrying eBooks in three book collections.
-
I went to Barnes & Noble to see how much the eBook is selling for. Guess what, all they have are the three book collections.
-
I can buy single books on Kindle, but you know that is my last resort.
-
Kindle seems to be shutting out B&N more and more.
-
DR George, I have a question for you regarding William Kent Krueger Collection #4..........
-
Is this book on a limited number of times it can be checked out before a new book needs to be purchased?
-
I really prefer not to read three books in a row.
-
I doubt I would like either even though I love coffee ice cream.
I like Häagen-Dazs coffee which, to me, is not as strong a coffee flavor as other brands.
-
Thanks for the vibes all.
-
I liked all of the things DR RON PULLIAM mentioned, especially Boris & Natasha.
I liked Martin & Lewis - in MOST of their movies.
-
There were some single stand up comedians that Ed Sullivan had on over & over who just made me cringe:
Sam Levinson
Myron Cohen
the duos Wayne & Shuster and Burns & Schreiber
OMG, this is so sad. Since January, about 300,000 have died on Cyprus from feline coronavirus that causes feline infectious peritonitis :(
The island is known for the stray cats, which I gather are fed by the locals. The article says domesticated cats are being held at clinics to avoid infection.
-
Off to do show three.
Pray for Rosemary's Baby.
Have a great evening.
Just read earlier that Cyprus was facing 105+ temperatures now. I loved that island.
Watching the end of Joyful Noise. What a cast. Dolly Parton, Queen Latifah, Keke Palmer, Jeremy Jordan, Andy Karl, Kris Kristofferson, more.
No. There’s no air conditioning in most places like that.
No air, not good. Unfortunately we never made it to Cyprus. If we return to Greece I would like to stop there.
Watching a motion picture, after which I'll write some pages.
Too late now, DR ChasSmith!
-
BK, are you aware of these two sets? The Dorati monaural set contains IMO the definitive recordings of Tchaikovsky's three ballets Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker.
-
Those look great, DR elmore3003. Not in my price range at the moment, however.
-
But I was able to download the 3 ballets from Apple Music.
-
So I am happy about that.
-
Lucky #100.
-
And speaking of lucky - the Powerball jackpot that DR John G. mentioned has a drawing tonight.
-
I think.
-
We've got to get some postin' goin; on.
-
And a lot of living to do.
-
Much to do about nothing.
-
elmore, yes, am aware and will get it at some point.
-
What the HELL are we doing on page four?
-
This is ridic.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Certainly not here.
A sad day at our house. The carbonator machine broke. It is like a soda stream, but from Kitchen Aide and much more heavy duty.
However, the built in locking gaskets are plastic, and one apparently cracked. The whole machine has to be trashed. And Kitchen Aide no longer makes them.
We go through about 3 large bottles of carbonated water per day, so we need something heavy duty, and the Soda Stream machines don't look durable.
Researching other options.
-
I think I found one. It's a bit pricey, however.
-
But it is compatible with our CO2 cannisters and water bottles.
-
I have been lazing about all this livelong day.
-
With nothing to show for it.
Ouch.
-
But it is compatible with our CO2 cannisters and water bottles.
That helps.
-
We had a Soda Stream when they first became popular. I had a couple of sips and that was it.
-
Wasn't The Carbonator and Arnold Schwarzenegger movie?
-
;D
-
I have gotten used to not lugging heavy bottles of seltzer home from the store, and then having to recycle or return the empties for deposit.
-
Of course, I could just settle for filtered plain water.
-
Which would be much more economical.
-
FIVE, by the way. :)
-
Not ten, by a long shot.
-
Not even seven.
-
I have gotten used to not lugging heavy bottles of seltzer home from the store, and then having to recycle or return the empties for deposit.
I rarely have carbonated drinks, and when I do it is the occasional Pepsi or Champagne.
-
The days are getting noticeably shorter.
-
Of course, I could just settle for filtered plain water.
True-lol
-
The days are getting noticeably shorter.
Hmmm, I have noticed.
-
There will be corn popping tonight :)
-
I am hungry so that is a good thing.
-
'night
-
The Dorati 'Nutcracker' appears to be 1 hour, 20 minutes. Considerably shorter than the other two ballets. Can that be right?
-
Apple Music Classical lists 296 recordings of Tchaikovsky's 'Nutcracker,' and they do seem to hover at around 1 hour 30 minutes.
So I guess that answers that.
-
My sympathies, Singdaw.
-
I love me some seltzer, especially grapefruit.
-
Had a nice dinner with a friend who lost her father to covid recently. He was almost 98.
-
We talked about aging parents.
-
And other things.
-
Has anyone seen the Netflix series From Scratch, based on Tembi Locke’s memoir?
-
I loved the book but didn’t know they’d filmed it.
-
Listening to a fun novel from the ‘90s called Right by My Side.
-
It’s a high school story about a kid with a bright future who’s got some great friends, odd teachers and a terrible home life.
-
Can we get off this page?
-
We’ll soon be one page closer to seven.
-
If we get off this page first.
-
Bye bye.
-
Hello, six!
-
I love me some seltzer, especially grapefruit.
A different thing, but one of the best flavors of Sparkling Ice, in my opinion.
-
I am Six, going on Seventeen?
-
Sorry to leave you in the lurch, but...
-
Good night, friends.
I finished watching "John Adams". I had four more episodes, vice two more. It's just as well, 'cause a lot of history would have been lost if they had tried to do it in only two more.
It's one hell of a great mini-series. We get some really excellent looks at Adams, Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Sadly, or not, it does not get to the duel in which Burr slays Hamilton. But, oh, well. Lin-Manuel Miranda covered all that in "Hamilton".
-
I’m exhausted
-
I have to go to bed
-
But I’ll try to check in tomorrow
-
Goodnight
-
I just had a fun thing on Facebook, which I'll talk about in the notes.
-
I've been watching a movie but I'm antsy and so will finish it some other time.
-
Corn.
-
Antsy is a good descriptive word.
-
Well DR RODZINSKI & DR JOHN G got their wishes.
The audience was laughing hysterically from the beginning of the chaos and all the way to the end. Applause interrupted the proceedings at least five times - one FOR me.....
It was our best audience so far - so they got our best show so far.
And when some script pages flew off the stage and landed on the floor, I asked an audience member to hand them back.
Then I asked her if she was in show business.....and the director got nervous.....because during rehearsal when I did that, I gave the usual Lily Von Schtup answer to Tex the Cowboy.....but I didn't dare do that....
-
We all traipsed over to Buffalo Wild Wings and a good time was had by all.....and we are OFF until Tuesday evening.
-
And I must go to bed....
The CD's shared by DR ELMORE look most intriguing.
I am hoping that DR singdaw gets his carbonation machine at a reasonable price....
I am wishing everyone a pleasant evening and night.
-
Still on page six, eh?
-
Something is rotten in the state of HHW.
-
And someone is doing some serious gaslighting right about now.
-
There is no possible way we're still on this stupid page.
-
And yet, gaslighting continues.
-
There must be fifty posts on this page that only holds thirty.
-
See?
-
You can only gaslight for so long.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
And dearest George, who has been absent way too many evenings, will hopefully get his act together and take it on the road.
-
I don’t pay good money to post here and see us only on page 7 with midnight nigh.
-
Great news, JRand. There’s nothing like that feeling when an audience is with you from the first scene. You just know a good time will be had by all.
-
I finished Success, which was the umpteenth edit of The American Success Company, and features additional scenes and I think recent narration by Jeff Bridges to clear up the plot, never a good sign. The movie remains basically incoherent and wastes much goodwill.
-
I painted some wood around our front doorframe today, completing a job undone by our contractor.
-
DR George I suggest you stop opening the links to TikTok that your friend sends ;D
Well, I figure if HE views them first, they should be okay. ::)
-
Oh, and I'm home. :)
-
And if that is the news I have to share, then it is certainly a slow day here at HHW.
-
Hello, Rodzinski.
-
At last! George is here. I feel we can get to page 8 now.
-
Hello my fellow Washingtonian!
Haven't there been several discovered identities of Jack the Ripper?
At least, it's not lemon sorbet IN the coffee! :P
Anyone ever see a production of the Comden-Green musical, Do Re Mi?
-
Anyone ever see a production of the Comden-Green musical, Do Re Mi?
I haven't seen it performed.
-
I've only heard the cast recording. :-\
-
I haven't heard it in quite a while, but I remember really enjoying the 1999 Encores cast recording (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Do-Re-Mi-1999-New-York-Concert-Cast/1297/).
-
I always forget that "Make Someone Happy" is from that show.
-
The original Do Re Mi cast lp on RCA had a really cool die-cut cover.
-
So, today I went to IKEA with my sister and her boyfriend.
-
The original Do Re Mi cast lp on RCA had a really cool die-cut cover.
I've only seen pictures:
-
But that is pretty cool.
-
WHEW!! We made it to Page Eight!!
-
So, my sister bought a mirror online from IKEA that arrived damaged, and we went to the closest store to return it, and for her to get a new one...and some other stuff.
-
That’s it!
-
When she was at the returns area, Larry and I went to the deli and I had the Swedish meatball plate.
-
The picture of the lp cover, that is.
-
We got there around 10:30 or 10:45, and as early as that was, none of the food was really hot...pretty warm, but not freshly hot.
-
Anyway, it did taste good.
-
After my sister was done with the return, she joined us upstairs at the deli, and she ate the peas-carrots-and-other-veggies veggie medley that I didn't eat, and then we went through the store.
-
We pretty much went through most, if not all, of the store...it's HUGE!
-
We were there for at least two and a half hours, but didn't fill an entire cart, so that was good.
-
However, over $300 was spent by my sister, so there's that. ::)
;)
-
Then, when we left, they (I was sitting in the back seat, minding my own business) couldn't figure out how to get back home while trying to avoid slow downs all over the place, but it still took us almost two hours to get home, when it only took about an hour and 15 minutes to get there.
-
I hate it when that happens. :P
-
Anyway, we did get home.
-
I then went to my home and changed my clothes because I ushered for Falsettos again.
-
I picked up Margo and the idea was to go downtown to the annual Lakefair celebration to get some Demo burgers (burgers sold to help support local Democrat candidates), but it really was MUCH too hot, so we drove through Wendy's and took our food to the theater.
-
The show was still really good and very well done.
-
I’ve never had IKEA meatballs or any of their food. Except maybe ice cream.
-
After the show, I drove Margo and another usher who lives fairly close to Margo home, and then I got myself something to eat and came home.
-
Certainly have had their shelves though.
-
I’ve never had IKEA meatballs or any of their food. Except maybe ice cream.
I didn't realize it, but they now also offer plant-based "meat" balls. I was thinking about getting them, but then I didn't. ::)
-
There will always be a next time!
-
Certainly have had their shelves though.
Ditto!!
-
Demo Burger! Yum!
-
I held the fort until your arrival but I cannot continue to page 9. Sadly, I must part ways with you here. The gods of sleep are summoning me with haste. I bid you farewell for now.
-
I held the fort until your arrival but I cannot continue to page 9. Sadly, I must part ways with you here. The gods of sleep are summoning me with haste. I bid you farewell for now.
Good night, Rodzinski.
-
Until the next time!
-
And now...
-
...since we're so close...
-
PAGE NINE DANCE!!
Researching other options.
Oh, no! That's terrible!
-
I get the grapefruit and orange Soda Stream syrups and just add them to tap water in my bottles, and I like those.
-
Once in a great while I'll get some bubbly water and use that, but not too often...mostly because I don't always think about it. ::)
;D
-
I think I found one. It's a bit pricey, however.
Darn. :-\
-
But it is compatible with our CO2 cannisters and water bottles.
That's a big consideration, though.
-
Hopefully, you might be able to find one a little less expensive (without it being "cheaper").
-
The Dorati 'Nutcracker' appears to be 1 hour, 20 minutes. Considerably shorter than the other two ballets. Can that be right?
Most recordings don't add extra time for applause that usually happens when it's actually performed live. ;)
-
I love me some seltzer, especially grapefruit.
Ditto!
-
Had a nice dinner with a friend who lost her father to covid recently. He was almost 98.
Oh, no. :( Glad you had a nice dinner, though.
-
But wow...98 years old! That's something to celebrate.
Hope it went well!
Well DR RODZINSKI & DR JOHN G got their wishes.
The audience was laughing hysterically from the beginning of the chaos and all the way to the end. Applause interrupted the proceedings at least five times - one FOR me.....
It was our best audience so far - so they got our best show so far.
And when some script pages flew off the stage and landed on the floor, I asked an audience member to hand them back.
Then I asked her if she was in show business.....and the director got nervous.....because during rehearsal when I did that, I gave the usual Lily Von Schtup answer to Tex the Cowboy.....but I didn't dare do that....
That's wonderful, Jrand! Congrats to you and the rest of the cast and crew!!
And dearest George, who has been absent way too many evenings, will hopefully get his act together and take it on the road.
I definitely was on the road today. ::)
-
Once in a great while I'll get some bubbly water and use that, but not too often...mostly because I don't always think about it. ::)
;D
Someday, I want to do a taste test between the different kinds of bubbly water: club soda, seltzer, sparkling water, tonic water and mineral water (and anything else I can easily get).
-
Tomorrow (if I get out of my house early enough), I might go down to the last day of Lakefair to get the Demo burger, but we'll see.
-
Rodzinski - if you go to the Tube of You and search Do Re Mi and Ed Sullivan, they do about twenty minutes of the show.
-
The family is getting together at my sister's for early dinner and probably some game.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
They are VERY long.
-
But there IS a point.
-
There must always be a point.
-
That is the point of a point.
-
I smell page ten lurking around here somewhere.
-
The ten is nigh.
-
I feel it in my bones.
-
What it is doing in my bones is a question for another day.
-
Page ten has made its entrance.
-
Did George go down some damn rabbit hole?
-
Did George go down some damn rabbit hole?
No, downstairs to the loo.
-
And welcome to Page Ten by way of BK!
