Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a timeline, and now it is time for you to post until the timeline cows come home.

And the word of the day is: GADABOUT!
-
Good morning, all!

I'm waiting for Amazon Fresh to arrve with replacements the ruined frozen foods in yesterday's delivery.
-
At the moment I have no more news.
-
Today would have been the 100th birthday of my mother. This is her high school graduation photo when she was full of optimism, dreams, and what were once called high hopes. Sadly, the Great Depression and family issues crushed most of them, and my father, brothers, and I lived with the unhappy woman who once had big dreams.
-
Amazon Fresh is pissing on my shoes and telling me it's raining: at 6:00am, their tracking said I was one stop away. Well, i've waited over 90 minutes and it hasn't arrived. So I just called amazon and spoke to a young lady who said, At 6:52 I was the next stop. I said, that was 30 minutes ago. Where is the driver?
And she said, that's why we have a delivery space of 6:00am-8:00am. God damn!
-
Good morning, all.

Good morning

I haven’t checked yet to see if I’m rich as Crassus
-
Hmmmm
-
Well for heaven’s sake, they sold me a defective ticket!
-
I should put in a PayPal dispute!
-
Or speak to a manager!
-
This sort of sloppy customer service is unacceptable,
-
Guess I’ll have to hold off putting in my bid for Sondheims house until tomorrow when I claim my Mega millions winnings from tonight’s drawing
-
It does throw my plans into disarray.
-
Oh well
-
Guess I’ll go to work

But first….

Well, after my complaints about packing frozen foods yesterday, today's delivery was poorly packaged. They expect frozen foods in a paper bag with no cooling agent to stay frozen in a heatwave? So, at 8:05 I got an email saying my order was delivered. The delivery person never rang the front door bell to be let into the building when he showed up at - get this -7:59, one minute before the delivery window was up. I called Amazon Fresh and threw a fit, and the lady I spole to gave me a credit of $35.00 for the missing package. At 8:45, when I headed to the basement to drop off the litter and recyclables, two Amazon paper bags sat at my door. The jerk delivery person just dropped them off in front of my door and never botherede to ring my bell.
-
I woke up in a good mood, and now all I want to do is become a serial killer.

I trust that this is an error of omission arising from your having to rush out the door, lest you be late for work. I completely understand, and there are no hard feelings. But please do clarify when you have a moment?

It’s funny, I have a book that came out for the 50th Anniversary of the Warner Bros record label, and it’s the same story. Starts out fun and then too much time is spent on the last 15 years when the execs are bragging about the art of their 360 degree artist package deals and the music became terrible.

These dogs have their tongues out because they're anticipating a huge MegaMillions haul tonight!
-
Great notes about the supposed infallibility of our memories.
One absurd example of mine involving movies and theaters: Practically since 1977 I firmly recalled a friend and I going to the first morning or noon showing of EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC at the Pantages. I even remembered how we had parked around the corner on the east side of the theater and had walked around the block. And then just a couple of years ago, I had the incontrovertible proof that it played the Pacific. Oops.
-
HEY!!! Number Two doesn't have his tongue out!
-
I do believe that when I venture out for my mail this morning, I shall hie me hence to the BP gas station to fill up my Nissan Rogue and then buy a Powerball and MegaMillions ticket.
Who knows! I may awaken in the morning to learn that I will be rich as Croesus myself.
Of course, that will create all sorts of problems I wish to avoid, like everyone knowing about it and wanting a piece of it.
Winning is one thing...dealing with the fallout is another.
-
HEY!!! Number Two doesn't have his tongue out!
I believe that his union demanded he not do that, even though he could be in the picture.

I slept extremely well last night. Used my CPAP again (than goodness for open airways).
There were dreams. Oh, yes, there were dreams! Happily, they did not cling to my memories.
My Amazon Echo unit has alerted me to an air quality issue for Johnston today. The AQI is 87 right now. That's a lot higher than yesterday.
Still, it isn't in the same league with those of you experiencing the AQIs in the hundreds and higher.

I haven't watched Angels in America in a long while and probably should again soon.

Saw the original production on Broadway in the same day (Part 1 as a matinee and Part 2 in the evening). That was a bit overwhelming.

-
Ron, have you ever been to Beaufort, SC?
No, I haven't. Have wanted to for quite some time.
-
One of the things I had hoped to do with my mom before she passed was to drive to the coast and see places we never saw when I was growing up. Beaufort was among those places, and it's very near Savannah GA.
Beaufort is 141 miles from here, so it's extremely doable as a day trip, but I'd really rather spend time exploring. Would like to go back to Folly Beach. As a family, we made a day trip there when I was very young to show my dad's mother the ocean, which she had never seen.
Gallingly, she was unimpressed.
-
As a teen in Georgia, I had a friend whose family stayed in the summer on Fripp Island not far from Beaufort, and I tagged along a couple times. Great area.

Did somebody say: Corn?
-
Corn on the cob sounds good.

I do not put butter on my corn.

Aside from not needing the butter, I think it reduces the flavor of good sweet corn.

BK posted about watching the 1964 film Shock Treatment, which I have just downloaded. Looking forward to sitting back and watching it later.
I discovered this one either through seeing a trailer back then, or in finding the movie tie-in paperback. I was crazy about those, and I scarfed up anything that looked interesting, especially thrillers.
What's insane is that, to this day, I have no idea whether it ever came around to where we were living, or if I ended up seeing it, or didn't see it. It's all a blank. I'm thrilled that this copy is up there, and l'll just have to see if any of it seems familiar to me.
-
I was in a small city when this movie came out, DR Chassmith. "Shock Treatment" played at the Carolina Theater in Greenville SC. As was true with other 20th-Fox films that came in, if it wasn't packing them into theaters in the major cities, their play dates were usually Monday through Thursday in Greenville. I missed quite a few films back in the day, including "A High Wind in Jamaica". That latter film I saw on TV years later and was surprised/delighted to find it wasn't a Disneyesque kiddie film but an actual adult action film with talented youngsters in key roles.
Fox blew the publicity on quite a few films as did all the other studios (except, possibly, Disney).
-
Conversely, when re-releases came out, they also filled the Monday-Thursday slots. I did get to see "The Robe" and "South Pacific" that way.
Oddly, "The King and I" hit town, but was across town at The Plaza Theater which took way too long to get to and back home. That theater usually showed MGM and Paramount and United Artist film, but, inexplicably, got the re-release of "The King and I" and the first-run roadshow dates for "My Fair Lady". It played for about 9 weeks, so I did get to see it.
-
Sidenote: For my money, Shock Treatment of 1981 is a great movie, better than Rocky Horror and ahead of its time as a media-saturation satire.
Shock Corridor is another good shocker.

To me, there is a big difference between walking outside and on a treadmill. I need someplace interesting for my eyes and brain.

Yes, on a treadmill. I get thoroughly immersed in my music.

Austin Pendleton, who has been a huge part of Steppenwolf’s season, has withdrawn from the Pinter play, No Man’s Land, which he specifically wanted to do. For personal reasons. Hope he’s ok. Wonder what’s going on there.
-
Had Panda Express for food, had some telephonic calls, but mostly I spent hours futzing and finessing and moving stuff around, resulting in about four new pages, maybe more and as soon as I'm finished with the sequence I'm in, which should be another three pages or so, then things get much easier.

I took my car to the dealer today for an overdue recall they’d been hounding me about. I’ve been dreading it. My experiences with dealers have not been good and the Volvo dealer used to push repairs that I seriously doubt were needed. I was afraid this dealer would do that, too, particularly since the recall repair is free. I’ve been taking this car to an independent mechanic and have been very happy with them. Much, much cheaper and the car runs well.
But they didn’t push repairs and it went relatively smoothly. I didn’t have to go into stand-my-ground mode.
-
Glad to hear that Singdaw’s tests were normal. It’s easy to sweat over these things, I think, even when you don’t really think anything is wrong.

Just did this myself. I looked up dealers around here and the reviews are so bad, and I just hate that upsell environment. Found a mechanic I like and had them do my 100k service and brakes and they were great. F a dealer!

Austin's a friend, and I haven't seen him in years. I hope he's okay.
He’s been a favorite since I saw with in June Moon with Jack Cassidy, Susan Sarandon and Sondheim.
I first heard of him from the movie What's Up, Doc?
Same. Later I got to interview him and he was very cool.
That's really cool, Rodzinski!

What a revoltin' development this is.
-
Oh, look who showed up.
-
The prodigal George.
-
Back from heaven knows where.
-
Perhaps we'll be enlightened.
-
I think my laptop is dying.
RIP John's laptop. :(

Just did this myself. I looked up dealers around here and the reviews are so bad, and I just hate that upsell environment. Found a mechanic I like and had them do my 100k service and brakes and they were great. F a dealer!
My car is still too new to need much servicing (other than the smashed window and the defective dash board lights ::) ), but I got good service from the dealer. But we'll see as the regular servicing starts to happen on a more consistent basis.

Dare I ask where's George?
I have arrived!
-
I'd been chatting with a friend and we chatted for quite a while.
-
And now, we're done chatting...for now. :)
-
We're actually going to get together in person on Sunday to dine and ketchup, so that'll be fun.
-
Stuffing his face with free tacos?
I wish!
-
I went to Red Wagon in Tumwater (https://www.redwagontumwater.com/) for lunch, and then had a Costco hotdog for dinner.
-
Both were quite delish.
-
New notes are up.
-
Tomorrow, I'm going to be ushering for Falsettos again.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
I'll pick up my friend Margo, then we'll head down to the theeder, then will probably dine afterward.
-
We may eat downtown...there are several places from which to choose.
-
Or we may go up to the west side, closer to where she lives and pick some place there.
-
Either way, we'll pick somewhere with good food...or, at least, good enough. ;D
