Just doing things a bit differently this time around to see what happens.
Our David has just taken over the role of The Captain in ANYTHING GOES - so he will be in and out for a couple of weeks.....why can't we all just get along? The original Captain - one of the worst actors in The Play That Goes Wrong - had a disagreement with the actor playing Billy - who has a rather inflated vision of his own talents. I'm not surprised there was friction.

Hap-Hap-Happy Wednesday!!
It is currently 83 degrees of temperature in Johnston SC.
AQI is 55. Haven't had rain in a few days, so there are atmospheric particles from some place or other.
Wednesdays and Saturdays, our post office is open only until Noon. I find it difficult to get myself out of my house and to the post office before it closes on those days.
The rest of the week, I am usually there by 10:30 a.m. which is the "all mail posted by" time each day.
Of course, it is closed on Sundays and on federal holidays.

I slept very well, and I dreamed.
Oddly, because it is so rare, I dreamed I was back in the Navy (I retired 30 years ago!!)
The details remain clear to me, but I won't go into them other than to say that an unqualified officer had been temporarily assigned to public affairs (which is the field in which I worked) and (1) didn't want any staff in the office when he was there, and (2) wanted me to handle all public affairs projects because he knew nothing about them.
There were attempts to bring him up to speed, to coax him into representing our department with the senior officers on the ship, and -- failing in all of that -- to bring my department head in to help me coordinate working with upper brass to get projects underway.
I have absolutely no idea where any of this came from. I never experienced this in real life. And I haven't been reading or watching anything remotely suggesting a similar dilemma.
Sigh.

I must reboot my cable box. Last night I watched about 3/4 of Tick Tick . . . Boom on Netflix, which kept freezing. It finally died with a "Try again later: popup. I liked the movie very much, bit I'm also a big fan of Rent, which I saw several times in the theatre. Nver saw the film version.

Once I set out, I realized I had a large quantity of cardboard and styrofoam in the back and I opted to drive to the recycling center first.
Post office surprised me with quite a bit of mail. Bottom line: I order too much stuff.

I may be remembering wrong, but I've carried an image of that with me for years, partly in recognition of how rich we were in such places back then.

I've noticed a lot of animal/pet reels showing up in my FB feed. Some of them are pretty entertaining.

My DH and his brothers have finally persuaded their mother (my mother-in-law) to move.

She will transfer from the Assisted Living facility where she is now to one in the Twin Cities.

The move is scheduled for late August.

We will now be able to travel to visit her in 20 minutes, instead of 2.75 hours.

And the whole extended family is here, so it makes sense.

But I understand the fear and hesitancy: change is hard at 91 years old.

And she's lived in her small rural town for 70 years.

But all her friends have either been moved up here as well, or have passed.

So overall, it is a good thing, I think.

And I wasn't sure we would see this day.
