Well, you've read the notes, you know the meaning of August, and now it is time for you to post until the august August cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ZHUZH!
-
I use that word all the time, but I had no idea it was an actual word or that it was spelled like that.
-
I use that word all the time, but I had no idea it was an actual word or that it was spelled like that.
I'd never seen it spelled, either! Who knew?
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Can "zhuzhy" be an adjective? Or "zhuzhily"?
-
Or can "zhuzh" be a used as a verb?
-
Glad I woke up early. The site was down - some Firewall issue - have no idea what that means, but all is well now.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It was down for at least three hours, approximately 6:30 to 9:30 am, here on the right coast.
-
Notes juvenated. Rejuvenated.

After I couldn’t get to the site for love or money.

After I couldn’t get to the site for love or money.
You tried BOTH??

After I couldn’t get to the site for love or money.
You tried BOTH??
Simultaneously!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Glad the site is running.
-
Yes, I was bullied. I don’t think back on the past too much. Just glad it’s over.
-
I was bullied in middle school. I choose not dwell on it.
Not so much in high school; I found my music people and my theater people and it abated.
-
Glad the site is back.
-
TOD:
I guess I was, but really wasn't important enough for the bullies to waste their time on.....so I just stuck close to my friends and we always had a good time.
One time I did hide a pair of shoes belonging to a bully when we were in gym class and he had to wear his sneakers the rest of the day......the next day I put his shoes in the shower......

I have a dilemma:
I was friends with a guy when I was in the Navy at NAS Jacksonville FL some 50 years ago. We were very good friends, and I was godfather (in name only) to his first-born.
But...he was transferred, and so was I later, and we lost touch before either of us knew how to contact the other.
During a tour in Washington DC at the Navy Annex, I had access to records of all active duty sailors and tried locating him, but he wasn't in the system. I puzzled over that for many years. Often, I wondered if he was still alive.
Late last year, he found me on Facebook, and we have been communicating since. He has invited himself to visit me during one of his annual trips to the east coast (from Arizona).
I am not looking forward to hosting him as I am certain we are very different people now. I suggested we meet up somewhere, have a meal and visit for a few hours. That wasn't what he wants.
I have been going along with this for many months, but he is visiting family over the next week, part of which will be a few hundred miles from here. He has said he will drop by for a day or two before he needs to go back.
My dilemma is that I do not want to host anyone, especially someone I truly do not know. We are different people now, and I think it would be better to visit for only a few hours.
What would you do?
-
I was bullied in middle school. I choose not dwell on it.
Not so much in high school; I found my music people and my theater people and it abated.
Plus, you "grew"...and were likely taller than many of them.
-
TOD:
Not really bullied. More just ignored or passed over. I didn't really begin asserting myself/blossoming (as it were) until college, by which time bullies were figuring out that their futures were limited.
-
Good Morning. It is cold and windy here in the Bay Area on the first day of August. I guess summer will start right when school begins!!!
TOD - I was bullied all through middle school and high school - at school and at home by a jerk of a step-father. I'd like to think I came out on top of all this.
-
DR Ron - send your friend a list of hotels in your area just so he has them if he decides to stay overnight in your area. Be firm if he asks/tells you that he was planning on staying with you with a simple "I am not set-up to host anyone at my place". If he gives your grief or suddenly decides to skip your town, then it was probably not meant to happen.
-
I whole-heartedly concur with DR Matthew above.
Does this "friend" have your address? If not, you are in control. Unless they can find it on the Internet.
-
That's a nice solution DR MATTHEW.
I'm not sure I would be so nice.
-
Thanks to DR IRIS for the videos from the Sondheim Tribute last night!
-
Glad I woke up early. The site was down - some Firewall issue - have no idea what that means, but all is well now.
Whew! I couldn't get in before I went to sleep.
-
So now I can post my post for the Topic of the Day: fortunately, I was never bullied in school. Even though I was always overweight and probably most people knew that I was gay (totally in the closet...I only remember two classmates who were "out"), but I was in the choir and so I was with friends throughout my entire middle and high school years. :)
-
Thanks to DR IRIS for the videos from the Sondheim Tribute last night!
Yes, thank you very much, Iris!
-
Oh, look! It's Page Two!! ;D
-
I wonder what I missed from the Sondheim concert. I found Patti LuPone erratic. Loved her Ladies Who Lunch and somewhat rushed Being Alive, but did not like her Send in the Clowns. Stokes was great on the Flag Song and Epiphany, loved his one-man Getting Married Today. Skylar Astin and Sierra Boggess were both good.
-
I kept wondering when Sondheim wrote so many power ballads and realized they were singing in the Hollywood Bowl.
-
Thanks to DR IRIS for the videos from the Sondheim Tribute last night!
DITTO!!

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of non-consecutive sleep.

Heard from someone I contacted about the musical we want to do. I have a long history with this person and he's very involved with one of the writers of the show, so he'll try to move the approval along. Hopefully he can.

A Weekend in the Country
-
Hello, everybody!
-
I tried to log on between 6:30am and 7:15, when I decided life was too short and went to play on Facebook.
-
Yesterday, Doug sent me a pdf of the first proof of the first act of the ballet, 254 pages of score. I kept looking at it and thinking I wrote all of this? I've got through number 9 and I've sent him some errors to be correct, some mine and a few his.
-
Wow, DR elmore3003. I wish you were getting paid by the measure.

Glad I went to my guy. The agent approved us and sent that approval to the licensing company, so the theater should hear from them in a day or two and onward we go. :)

Last night I watched Act Two of the George Hearn-Angela Lansbury tour of Sweeney Todd. We watched Act One several days ago. I was surprised how much of the staging I had forgotten. I think Lansbury's acting had broadened quite a bit from what I remember seeing her in six performances on Broadway, but it was nice to see my friends Ken Jennings and Cris Groenendaal before age ravaged the three of us.
-
Slo day here today
-
Futzed and finessed. Wrote three new pages. Lunch meeting in forty minutes, then I'll come right back and write three or four more pages, take a break, and then write more after that. Today's goal is ten to twelve pages.
-
Picked up both important envelopes and thankfully no lines at either bank.
-

Thanks, DR Singdaw. I listened a little today as well. Trying to get some ideas to make our 5 piece bluegrass band sound a little more full.

Is it a slow HHW day or...?
I, too, had no luck logging onto this here site this a.m. Kept getting a message telling me I wasn't connected to the internet.
I had no problems with other wi-fi thingies, but finally just rebooted my drive.
And then HHW.com popped right up.

I appreciate the comments about ways to handle my friend.
He is renting a car in Nashville today and spending a day or two, then he is driving to Myrtle Beach to stay with family and then driving here to stay with me.
I don't think renting a hotel room is something he budgeted for, although local hotels would not be that expensive.
That said, there are none within 20 miles I would think of recommending.
I think I may tell him I am not going to be able to provide the hospitality I would want to show him, suggest I drive somewhere to meet him for a meal and chat on his route back to Nashville, and simply give up half a day rather than an overnight.
I actually don't want to do any of it, but don't want to offend at. There will be other occasions in the future (should we both survive the years) when he will return to my state to visit his relatives.
Working up the wording in my head.

Ahh! You were the one on the right side, right?

It’s very possible that Donald Trump will be indicted by the D.C. Grand Jury any minute now.
Good time to follow a trusted news source.
-
It’s official.
Trump indicted by Grand Jury in the election probe.
FOUR CRIMINAL COUNTS
-
Count one, conspiracy to defraud the United States. Count two, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding. Count three, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding. And count four, conspiracy against rights.
-
The Trump indictment lists six co-conspirators but does not name them: four attorneys, a Justice Department official and a political consultant.
-
So, we still have Atlanta to go.
-
NEW: Special Counsel Jack Smith will issue a statement momentarily, to be carried live.
-
Merrick Garland will also be speaking momentarily.

Page four my ASS.

Eight pages so far. Will definitely do two to four more.
-
Great news about the indictment.
-
He should not be allowed to run for president now.
-
Watching From Here to Eternity. What an excellent screenplay. It boils so much down to its essentials.
-
I'm sure the MAGA's heads are exploding with their usual BS. And if Georgia's next, maybe there will be justice at long last.

And then some more.

Good night, friends.
-
We are home after dropping our guests off at the airport.
-
Now Keith is about to make popcorn.
-
We plan to relax.
-
We did have a very nice time.
-
We spent the day in Portland.
-
First stop was Powell's Books.
-
Keith was bullied because of his weight.
-
Jr. High was very hard for me socially. I wouldn't exactly say I was bullied.
-

Congrats to MR BK on the approval and the two important envelopes.....the grain full moon is WORKING.

Good rehearsal tonight.....and I come home to the news of the indictments!!!
Grain full moon INDEED!!!

Sinatra just got in trouble. His character is more of an alcoholic with problems at being called a horrible name because he’s Italian, not because he’s gay, like in the book.

If the site had been available this morning, we’d be at post 124 by now.
-
Gratuitous post 123!
-
Now we’re at 124.
-
All caught up.
-
I was locked out this morning, getting messages that “ the server doesn’t exist”
-
But you all knew that already
-
I arrived at WFO’s tonight to be greeted with , “Hooray! He’s been indicted again!”
-
Then we watched Jack Smith make his statement
-
After it was over we decided that the entire clip that woukd be shown on FAUX was Jack Smith saying “…he should be presumed innocent…”
-
Then we decided to do something we’ve neither of us done before…willingly watched FAUX

I’m so happy that you posted this!
I posted a different video of that performance last night, but mine only showed one kiss!

Glad I went to my guy. The agent approved us and sent that approval to the licensing company, so the theater should hear from them in a day or two and onward we go. :)
Oh hell yeah!

I haven’t found any solo songs for Sierra Boggess from last night. Just her Not a Day Goes By, which she sang while Sutton sang Losing My Mind.

Wife took her mom to a medical appointment in Canada today. Was ten minutes late about which she had phoned to let them know. The doctor couldn’t be bothered to wait, and left. Then wife got a flat tire, so I had to go rescue her. This made me late for my own doctor appointment here in my town, but the doctor said, “come when you can, it’s fine.” Score one for US healthcare.

Movie over. Excellent. Just fine Hollywood filmmaking.

Good night, all.

Okay, let's make up for the three hours we were down this morning.
-
George could be helpful but - he's not here.
-
He's not here.
-
I had a visit and have a nice photograph to post in the notes.
-
Meanwhile, I want to write a few more pages and finish the section I'm in. The last four pages were a complete surprise. I had no idea they'd be what they are but boy did I have fun writing it. I love the unexpected things that pop into one's head.
-
I just do.
-
I do not care for page seven, so let's get there and get past it.
-
What?
-
Did somebody say something.
-
Visitor brought donuts - I had a third of the chocolate peanut butter thing and less than a third of an apple fritter thing. Hope I don't regret that later.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Sinatra just got in trouble. His character is more of an alcoholic with problems at being called a horrible name because he’s Italian, not because he’s gay, like in the book.
And they kept the character gay in the musical.

Did you know that one is the loneliest number?
-
Did you know that I'm quite bored of page six.

George, take us home, damn it.

I'll be back after I write three more pages.
-
Thirteen pages. Will do one more before bed.

Meanwhile, has George deserted us?

Has he gone down a damn rabbit hole?
-
Is he stuffing his face with free tacos?
-
Is he watching Sondheim videos?

We need help making up for lost time.

Mrs R and I just passed 10 years since we met.
Happy meeting anniversary, Rodzinski!
-
And…
if I had to choose just one day
To last my whole life through
It would surely be
That Sunday
The day that I met you
-
Newborn whippoorwills were calling from the hills
Summer was a-comin’ in but fast
-
Lots of daffodils were showing off their skills
Nodding all together I could almost hear them whisper
“Go on, kiss her, go on and kiss her!”
-
If I had to choose one moment
To live within my heart
It would be that tender moment
Recalling how we started…
-
Darling it would be
-
When you smiled at me
-
That way
-
That Sunday
-
That Summer.
-
And that, dear readers, is more or less a true story.
-
Give or take a whippoorwill.

Very nice!
-
Well, I need to clean out my car.
-
Tomorrow, my mom, my niece and I are going to spend the day at Westport, which is on the coast of Washington state.
-
I'll drive my new(ish...it's a year old already!) car, so I need to remove stuff that takes up room and we don't need to bring with us.
-
I'll also need to get gas, but I can get that in the morning after I pick up my niece.
-
Fortunately, there's not a lot that I need to take out of my car, so it won't take too long.
-
Westport? Come up to Birch Bay, at least!
-
So, I'll do it now.
But first...

Westport? Come up to Birch Bay, at least!
Sounds like fun! However, my niece wants to go west, young man!

Cool!

The two highway borders back into the US had long waits, so I tried the 3rd border over, into Lynden, WA. Less of a wait, but boy, you drive that half hour over and suddenly you are in real hillbilly country. I expected Bo and Luke Duke to come speeding by me on the run from Roscoe.
-
Which goes to show what I always said, even in NYC. You’re never as far from rural Georgia as you think.
-
Page eight. Can we get to nine? I've done fourteen pages and now must write some notes, so feel free to post pithy posts filled with pith.
-
Can we get to 9?
-
Will we?
-
May we?
-
Mais oui!
-
We must!
-
But I’m all alone here so maybe we mustn’t.

1 guest is here but he/she doesn’t help at all.

Mrs R and I just passed 10 years since we met.
Happy Anniversary!

Although it is long past her bedtime

I was just have a chat with some friends
-
Vixmom, how can you be awake at this hour?

They informed me that they were informed that some people believe the phrase “you’re welcome” is passive aggressive
-
Therefore they only say “mmmmmmmm” when someone says thank you
-
They informed me that they were informed that some people believe the phrase “you’re welcome” is passive aggressive
Lame.
-
Or “ no problem”
-
Oooh I did it Mr. R!
-
Is “thank you” passive aggressive?
-
You’re welcome!
-
Holy smokes vixmom! You brought us home.
-
Mmmmmm
-
I think you’re welcome is a perfectly polite answer. “No problem” I think is rude when said by someone in a service industry, I didn’t think it was a problem for you to do your job until you advised me it might have
-
I'll drive my new(ish...it's a year old already!) car, so I need to remove stuff that takes up room and we don't need to bring with us.
Fortunately, there's not a lot that I need to take out of my car, so it won't take too long.
Well, that took longer than expected. ::)
-
I’m happy anytime anyone says anything to me at all.
-
On the other hand if I’m asking you to do something that truly is an inconvenience, like drive me to the airport or help me move house, “no problem” is a fine response because yeah, that certainly was a problem of my making.
-
I mean “you’re welcome “ could be said in a sarcastic passive aggressive way
-
Like when you hold a door open for someone and they walk through without acknowledging you
-
I have certainly intentionally used a passive aggressive “you’re welcome “ in that case.
-
Maybe the people who think “you’re welcome “ is passive aggressive are rude AHs that constantly ignore people doing them small favors and that’s the only time they hear it because they never thank anyone
-
I do hate when people say “you’re welcome” before I’ve said “thank you.” Now that’s passive-aggressive.
-
At least give a moment for someone to say thanks. After that, I simply reverse whatever nice thing I did.
-
Did I hold the door for you? Ok, didn’t thank me within 6 seconds? Now I grab you and pull you backwards through the door.
-
That's aggressive-aggressive.
-
Page ten now within reach.
-
Anyways feel free to discuss this amongst yourselves
-
I cannot wake up in 4 hours if I don’t ever go to sleep

Did I hold the door for you? Ok, didn’t thank me within 6 seconds? Now I grab you and pull you backwards through the door.

PAGE TEN DANCE!!
-
Whew!! :D
-
Tomorrow is going to be fun.
-
I'll take pictures but I probably won't be able to post any until I get home.
-
...which will be whenever I get home.
-
I certainly do expect to be back before the end of the day.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And now, they must be read.
