Well, you've read the notes, the notes said what they haven't already said, and now it is time for you to post until the already said cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COGITATION!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Must stir and have at it.

TOD:
The Bandwagon

-
Good morning, friends.
-
It's too marvelous for words.
-
But words are all we have.
-
If Sunday is fun day, what is Saturday?
-
The day we all sat around?
-
DR John G. is definitely not sitting around today.
-
I suppose Saturday could be Caturday.
-
Good morning, all!
-
My computer finished transferring files around 7:15 last night. At some point this morning, after 10:00, Jason will come by and finish the set-up.
-
Last night, we watched the first two episodes of the original Tales of the City. It's so wonderful, and the cast is so perfect. It did get me wondering, whatever happened to Parker Posey?
I now have the urge to read all the books again . . . if I could locate them.

Good morning, all.
-
It sounds like DR Matthew's having a fine weekend with the show.
-
We never have gottten to the outdoor theeder. yet. I was going to go this evening but a friend wants us to come over for a visit and I need to do that, so probably tomorrow night, and that will be that.
-
So today, a three-hour rehearsal starting at 2 p.m., then the friend's house, and tomorrow morning another shorter rehearsal and then the outdoor Music Man in the evening. And that will be that, as well.
-
Everything will be that.
-
On this recital thingy, "I Know Things Now" is out and "On the Steps of the Palace" is in.
I'd much rather be playing the former. But it is what it is.
And that will be that.

I went through a li'l rice pudding phase a few years ago. It was before Covid, when I was getting frequent takeout meals from Stew Leonard's. They always had rice pudding in their salad & dessert section, and I always filled a container with it and added a lot of raisins. After the pandemic they cut that whole takeout area down to a fraction of its former size, and frankly, I don't even know what the offerings are any more because the new prices are ridiculous. Last time I looked they were charging ten bucks a pound, or more, for whatever you'd take. I can remember a couple of decades ago when it was - I kid you not - three dollars. It was three dollars for quite a while, and when they first opened the department, they ran it at $2.49/lb initially. Ah, the old days.
-
But I wouldn't mind getting back to some rice pudding and raisins again. I found it to be a refreshing and delightful sweet-but-not-too-sweet treat.
-
More coffee!

Happy Saturday to all!
Tis a beautiful morning in Johnston SC. Temperature is currently 74 degrees. Doesn't that sound moderate?

I had a most excellent night of sleep. I dreamed, but nothing traumatic or troubling or memorable. I have slight recall of a scene or two, but may be confusing those with having watched the movie "Dune" before going to bed. My dream scenes were not in a desert, but there were vast flat spaces involved that I did not wish to cross on foot. All right, that is a bit memorable, but I have no context for it.
-
I have so little to do and so much time.
And you need not reverse that.
Even if the reverse is true.
-
And since no one else is here....not even a single guest or ghost...I shall have to turn the page by myself.

Saturday is a what's the matter day.
-
Good Morning - Our opening was successful with our little theatre practically sold out, which is unheard of. Hopefully that will bode well for the next three weekends. The audience was very appreciative, except for the laughter in penultimate scene where the "truth" comes out. People laugh when they don't know how to react to things. It was uncomfortable to say the least. Bright Star really is a Lifetime movie - drama, drama, a little comedy, more drama and everything is wrapped up in 5 minutes and everyone lives happily ever after. Gotta love it.

I'm not a fan of raisins (but I don't mind a good oatmeal raisins cookie ;) ), but I don't like the texture of the rice in rice pudding. I do love me some tapioca pudding, though. :)

I read something that said Washington now has higher gas prices than Oregon. I searched thinking Oregon prices might have been why our price yesterday was so high.
There was an article a few weeks ago (at least) that said Washington had the highest average price of gas in the nation. :o
-
I don't remember if that included Alaska and Hawaii, though...probably not.
-
It's been sprinkling a bit this morning! :D
-
Still not enough, but it'll probably be a nice cool day.

I will, of course, be inside at TAO's tech rehearsal for The Mystery Plays, which opens on Thursday!

I find it interesting you like the texture of tapioca pudding and not rice pudding. I don't care for either texture.

Yes, and what I read was more recent, so I guess nothing has changed-lol
-
I got a call from Marko about not meeting at the theeder until noon instead of 11:00 a.m., which was fine by me, but now, I gotta go.
Until later!
-
I don't remember if that included Alaska and Hawaii, though...probably not.
Probably not. I didn't read the recent article but it said something about Washington being one of the highest. I suppose those two could be worse.
-
Because so many Canadians come to my town just to buy our cheaper gas, the price is listed by the liter. So I just pretend it’s by the gallon so I feel like I’m getting a real steal.
-
It's been sprinkling a bit this morning! :D
I haven't been outside yet. It was pretty muggy yesterday so sprinkles wouldn't surprise me.
-
To successfully do this, I must also ignore the final total on the pump.
-
No the most recent list I can find is from July. In order from highest down:
Washington
California
Hawaii
Oregon
Alaska
-
As of August 3rd gas finder has the same list, only with Washington & California switching spots.

I used to have a record by Tommy Sands where he sang “Hello Young Lovers” with, to my memory, the most gorgeous Nelson Riddle arrangement. I have turned the internet inside-out and cannot find it to listen to.
Can one of you Tommy Sands freaks out there please digitize it and upload to youtube for me, thx!!
-
How did I wake up in a world where I can’t instantly access any Tommy Sands song I damn well want to hear? We truly are regressing to the dark ages.
-
I hope you can find it.
-
For my 19th birthday my parent's gifted me a Shell gas credit card.
-
Gas was around 34 cents then, and I really didn't use all that much gas.
-
I loved having that card, plus I got Green Stamps I could use to buy things I needed.
-
I forgot to mention the card was good for a year.
-
On and off I would receive new cards as gifts.
-
DR Rodzinski curious about Hello Young Lovers sung by Tommy Sands I googled it. Annoying were the links I opened that indicated they were Tommy Sands only to have a different singer.
-
I couldn't find Tommy, either.

I'm very impressed with your Internet sleuthing skills, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
Before today, I had never heard of Mr. Sands.
-
Sorry, too tired to post more tonight.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Before today, I had never heard of Mr. Sands.
Had you heard of Georgia Gibbs before I mentioned her the other day?
-
At various points in my day, I have presumed it to be Sunday instead of Saturday...and had a small panic attack about missing my zoom chat.
Oh, well.
I did have a busy day of watching films. The most enjoyable, because it had been more than 20 years since I last watched it, was "Hobson's Choice." Splendid film; beautifully acted, especially by John Mills and Brenda de Banzie.
Next was "Mary Poppins", because it has been forever since I last watched it. BUT...I couldn't get far into it because the streaming kept buffering. It took more than a half an hour to get through half of "Jolly Holiday"...and that wasn't so jolly. So that was enough for me.
I then watched "The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex", and just finished watching half of "The Sea Hawk". Am recording it, so I'll finish it tomorrow.
I guess I was a bit out of sorts with Ben Mankiewicz when he informed the audience, at the start of the first film, that Bette Davis despised working with Errol Flynn. She thought him thoroughly unprofessional. She lobbied for Laurence Olivier, and she is said to have written that she imagined her scenes with Flynn as if he were Olivier. As much as I love and admire Ms. Davis, I am a major fan of Errol Flynn in his prime.
-
I’ve been watching The Handmaid’s Tale
-
I’m in season 5
-
I’m in season 5
That seems like a very long tale.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
No air people tonight. I've got the kitchen window open - first time ever. Not really helping.
-
Page six is not really helping either.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I just finished a two-parter of Silent Witness. I watched the show in the early years and have now returned to it.
-
Good night, all.
-
Bruce, your AC filter may need to be cleaned or replaced. It could be clogged with dust. Didn’t you have this problem some time back? I seem to recall you buying a replacement filter. Did you happen to buy two? They’re not difficult to replace, but you must have the right size.
-
Before today, I had never heard of Mr. Sands.
Me, either. Quite a voice, though. The photo on the album cover shows a young man, but the voice is mature. Same person? And, yes, lush orchestrations.
-
Does anyone else enjoy his books?
Jane, I read a number of them many years ago. He was a capable storyteller.
-
Hi, John G.
Good night, John G.
-
I find the thought of that terrifying.
Me,too. I won’t be one of the first to try it.
-
Good night.
-
I'll go buy a new filter tomorrow.
-
Fourteen pages. We'll see how I feel when I read them, but I think all the idea are right.
-
I find the thought of that terrifying.
I do, too!!
-
Since then, I've done nine pages and will do another four or five after I ate a nice break. The good news is I'm done with this section that could have ended up as fifty or sixty pages, but will now be twenty-five compact pages.
That's great, BK!
-
Before today, I had never heard of Mr. Sands.
And nor did I (a Sunday in the Park with George reference). ;)
-
Page Seven Stephen Sondheim Dance!!
-
This afternoon, I went to the OlyTheater theeder at Capitol Mall where I'll be running sound for Theater Artists Olympia's next production, The Mystery Plays by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, for the purpose of the first tech rehearsal.
-
We got through the whole show and jumped a lot of scenes so that we really only had to work on the tech cues.
-
I got there at about 1:15 or so, and the sound designer and I were able to write most of the sound and projection cues into my copy of the script.
-
I have a little over 100 cues, which isn't too many.
-
The actors arrived around 4:30 and started the cue-to-cue run about 15 minutes later.
-
We adjusted and added and deleted cues as necessary.
-
The actors were most accommodating, and no one complained.
-
They all seemed to have a good time and stayed in good spirits.
-
We got through the whole show (though more adjustments are still needed).
-
We didn't go through the end of act one when we got to that spot because some cues still needed to be built, so we actually waited until after the whole run to work that last scene.
-
It only involved three actors, so the rest of the cast was let go until tomorrow night.
-
Nice tech work, George!
-
For tomorrow night's rehearsal, the actors' call is 6:30, but I'm needed at 6:00 so that Marko and I can work on any other adjusted cues and get them into my script, if necessary.
-
Nice tech work, George!
Thanks, Rodzinski!
-
Tommy Sands was married to Nancy Sinatra.
He starred in Babes in Toyland.
He sang the theme to The Parent Trap, a duet with Annette Funicello.
He had a #2 hit with “Teen-Age Crush.”

Do enough people use Truth Social to make it worthwhile to protest Vs potentially whipping the usual foaming-mouth suspects into a frenzy about “censorship” that the platform gets more attention than if it was just ignored?

That was too wordy. I’m asking if ignoring the platform is better than giving it the attention an Apple Store ban would give it.

-
Page eight my ASS.
-
Must write some damn notes, so I think someone should get us to page nine as I do so.
-
Oh boy. Can it be done?
-
George, what browser do you use most often?
-
A good movie is Richard Fleischer’s “Violent Saturday.”
-
Also Fleischer’s autobiography is most excellent.
-
He tells a story of Kirk Douglas on 20,000 Leagues
-
Ol Kirk was trying on method acting and in nearly every take he’d try some different thing, then ask Fleischer, “Do you see any value in that?”
-
Everyone was getting quite sick of Kirk.
-
George, what browser do you use most often?
Mostly Chrome.
-
Mid-shoot, some lighting guy on the crew makes an adjustment to a gel or something, while Kirk’s standing there. The lighting guy asks Fleischer about his small adjustment. “Do you see any value in that?”
-
The whole cast/crew erupts in laughter. Except Kirk.
-
Fleischer thought he was going to walk off set till Kirk’s ego begrudgingly allowed himself to laugh along.
-
All this and more you can find in Just Tell Me When To Cry by Richard Fleischer.
-
Fleischer thought he was going to walk off set till Kirk’s ego begrudgingly allowed himself to laugh along.
Good for Kirk!
-
Long out of print.
-
Great stories too about the casting of Doctor Dolittle and how insane Rex Harrison was.
-
And how insane Daryl Zanuck was when it came to Julie Greco. Lots of good stuff.
-
Maybe I’ll try the a Chrome browser on my phone.
-
New browser, new outlook on life, I always say.
-
Brave browser is good too. Supposedly better with privacy stuff.
-
