Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in the pudding, and now it is time for you to post until the proofed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FRISSON!
-
Raining again.
-
Internet went down for about ten minutes.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I've been up and about since 5:00. I like to get all my errands accomplished with time to settle before dealing with the Access-a-Ride tsuris.
-
I was asked to provide a short piece about my work on the ballet. I threw something together fast yesterday and sent it off. To my surprise, they liked it,and I just pent thirty minutes polishing what I had written.
-
Yesterday, I got the full score and mp3 playback for No. 36 and I am very happy with it.
-
That's great, DR elmore3003.
-
I don't know what happened. I finished cleaning thew litter, rose up from the floor and my left leg didn't want to support me or move. I managed to get to the kitchen where I washed the cat's breakfast dishes. I had no problem walking into the living area, but the first thing I did was to call Access-a-Ride and cancel today's trips. I probably should have just gone in to my appointment, but I panicked. I have to call now and rebook today's appointment.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vibes and hugs for Elmore.

TOD:
I was on board the Victory Chimes when Hurricane Ike passed over Maine. We were in a harbor with several other clipper ships and Ringo Starr’s massive yacht. The weather itself was fierce and the boat rocked all night, but it was the wait that was perhaps more terrifying.
In the morning, we sailed to our docked and disembarked in the rain. The trip was over a day before schedule.
-
The time before this trip had been during Hurricane Katrina.

Well, if I must.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am completely worn out from spending all afternoon yesterday at the local Bridgewater Country Fair. It was great to be there and to see people I haven't seen in a while and to walk around and see silly things and eat silly things and all, but it was quite warm and it was a LOT of walking, and I am done. Today I have things to do, but indoors, and I'm taking it easy.
-
I also was under the mistaken impression that the overnight temperatures were supposed to be nice sleeping weather again, and I was wrong. They were not, and I tossed and turned when I should have been in a sound sleep.
-
A nap sometime today might be in order.
-
A nap is always in order.

Reporting to work early today to assist in some software testing.
-
OH, and speaking of pudding...
-
I was on a CANDIDE kick yesterday. I listened to the OBC as well as the complete Scottish Opera performance. That got me curious about poster art for several non-Broadway productions. Some were dreadful, but I liked these
-
Nice posters DR ELMORE.
I almost listened to CANDIDE yesterday as well....maybe one day this week.
-
Callback vibes for MR BK.
-
Today I have to stop by the doctor's office to ask a question, then go to OLLIE'S to replenish my supply of candles, gas station for gasoline for the lawn mower, and may another stop - we shall see.
-
Tonight is our last rehearsal in the Rehearsal Center.....we are minus our COVID actor.
Sunday is set building day and Monday we start ONSTAGE.

TOD:
When I was 8 years old - a terrible storm with wind, rain, thunder, and lightning happened in the middle of the night.
Our parents came rushing upstairs and took all 4 of us to the basement where we stayed until it passed over.
Another storm on Easter Sunday in 1963 or 1964 a tornado came through town but luckily skipped our street.
And then two years ago, another tornado came through town knocked down some old buildings in the downtown area.....they were finally demolished last year after valiant efforts to save them failed.
-
And that was that.

Well, if I must.
Arteries!!!!!

TOD:
The worst I ever experienced was in Lawrence, Indiana (a suburb of Indianapolis) circa 1981.
It was summertime. My parents were to visit, and I had cut my grass in sunny weather. After I had showered and dressed, I noticed it was getting overcast. It got darker and darker.
My parents arrived from South Carolina, and my mom was very scared because the sky looked green.
We had a hellacious storm, and we all huddled in the bathroom.
Once it passed, we watched the news and learned a tornado had passed just a couple of streets over from where I lived. A lot of damage was done, but we were just fine.
-
This morning has been hell. I tried to call Dr Glickman, whose office opens at 8:00am, according to Google, then I decided to order cat food from Petsmart. I entered my debit card and placed the order. A popup told me there was a oriblem, try again. I never got an order confirmation, but I now have seven approved charges on my card for $1022 each! The past hour has been calls to Petsmart customer service and the bank. I have no idea if the situation is now cleared up or not.
-
The moon IS a balloon...
-
Good morning.
-
So far there is not a drop in my rain gauge. I probably got about 25 drops on my tshirt while I was walking this morning.
-
TOD: I was in Hurricane Bob while visiting my sister a long long time ago. We had a microburst here in 2006, which did a lot of damage locally. Then, of course, the microburst in 2021, which took out my saguaro, my acacia tree, and my living room ceiling.
-
Storms are glorious in their ferocity.
-
I paid $3.579 gasoline this morning. I bought $30 worth and put about $7.60 in my gas can for the lawn mower and the rest in Petey the PT Cruiser......which brought him up from just above a quarter tank to just below F U L L.
-
Tomorrow I may have to fill up Dennis the Smart Car.....at $4.779 per gallon....I usually just get $25 worth and he's almost full....not sure where he sits now - gauge wise....but I will drive him tonight and find out.
-
And that is the Indiana Gas Repor.
-
Money back vibes for DR ELMORE.
Or you're gonna be up to your eyebrows in CAT DETRITUS.

From Bruce:
The news of course does their thing to panic everyone. Endless images of horrible flooding in "Southern California" only what they're showing you is Baja. I have seen nothing like that here or anywhere in the Valley. Some of the streets had a bit of water buildup.
I found it very annoying to open articles that were supposedly up to date info on the storm, mostly to find images of Baja flooding.

Harlequin Productions (https://harlequinproductions.org/), the local semi-professional theater company here in Olympia, has announced their new season (https://harlequinproductions.org/our-exciting-2024-season/):

My cousin out in Leona Valley had 6.5 inches of rain as of 8:00pm. I don't know yet what her final number is yet. She is probably dealing with a lot of mud today.

Oh, my goodness!
-
Up, up, up…
I love this!
-
Yup.
-
They beat out 5 other locations listed on the news for the most amount of rain, lucky them.
-
Beverly Hills only had 3.14 inches.
-
While not the worst storm, we had major clean-up to do in Ashland after heavy rains. It flooded a large area near our driveway, and did some major damage. Keith spent two days shoveling mud, plus he helped the neighbor above us get the road passable so they could use it.
-
The neighbors had called our road guy who left his out of town company to help, still Keith was needed to shovel up there.
-
Just as the road was finally able to be driven their daughter came rushing up in her car very sick and needed to get home FAST. Later we saw the wife driving back out to pick up medication. They really appreciated Keith's help, and we all appreciated the road guy rushing out to us.
-
We split the cost of the road guy with the neighbor to be nice.
-
We were planning to leave town as were the neighbors. Someone had to stay in case there were more problems with the road so we volunteered. It was easier for us since they were flying to Hawaii with their entire family.
-
Getting ready to board a ship. Not sure how much connectivity we’ll have. Got my Preview Harvey to enjoy.
-
Have a great trip.
-
My cousin said the official figure for total rain is 6.97 inches. Her horse now has a pond and she has been shoveling mud all morning in the dog yard, and there is still a ton left.

TOD 2:
I was in the basement in April 3, 1974. A series of tornadoes touched down in Louisville. The devastation was amazing and brutal. Our neighborhood was untouched. A school mate came over to work on a project. All he wanted to do was look at all the tall oaks we had standing.

The news follows the most damage. Quite a bit was done in east L.A.
Storms do not impact every area equally. Major storms like a tropical one do cover more area than passing storm systems.
I'd say thank your lucky stars if your area was spared. There are many areas where devastation occurred.

I can understand why he was fascinated with your untouched oaks.
-
First week when we moved to Delaware (the 2nd time) we had tropical storm rains that flooded our basement; 2nd week a tornado that led to more basement flooding and trees down. It mellowed out after that.

Vibes for dear Larry’s leg and bank account!

$4.65 mid grade before our discount.
-
We paid $4.55.
-
Keith did not see what regular was, sorry.
-
We had a bit of a scare as the gas tank wouldn't open.
-
We drove away, parked, tried again and it opened.
-
Fingers crossed we don't have a problem again before returning home.

We have had too many flooded basements to remember them all.

Passing another Fred Meyer gas station. It says $4.55 regular.

We made a pit stop. Before getting back in the car Keith tried to open the gas tank door.

It wouldn't open.

He said we have enough gas in the tank to get us home ⛽️

That's a relief.

Conveniently we already have an appointment on Friday to have the car serviced.

I myself have been feeling vaguely scattered all day.

I just don't seem to be able to get it all quite together.

Nevertheless, I persist.

Ronan Farrow has an fascinating (and slightly terrifying) take on Elon Musk in the latest New Yorker. Top-level recap:
The meddling of oligarchs in the fate of nations is not new. But Elon Musk’s current influence on global affairs is especially “brazen and expansive.” As Ronan Farrow explains in a deeply reported story from this week’s issue (https://link.newyorker.com/click/32465754.1122412/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubmV3eW9ya2VyLmNvbS9tYWdhemluZS8yMDIzLzA4LzI4L2Vsb24tbXVza3Mtc2hhZG93LXJ1bGU_dXRtX3NvdXJjZT1ubCZ1dG1fYnJhbmQ9dG55JnV0bV9tYWlsaW5nPVROWV9EYWlseV8wODIxMjMmdXRtX2NhbXBhaWduPWF1ZC1kZXYmdXRtX21lZGl1bT1lbWFpbCZ1dG1fdGVybT10bnlfZGFpbHlfZGlnZXN0JmJ4aWQ9NWJlYTBkYTgyZGRmOWM3MmRjOGUxYzU1JmNuZGlkPTI2MTQ1MjcyJmhhc2hhPWVhZThjNjljYmFhZjU1YzNiYjBkMzc4ODY2MTZjN2JmJmhhc2hiPWM5N2EwYTE3MzJkZWY2NTVhMGVmZGFmNDAxY2RhOTg3OGE2OTY1MTcmaGFzaGM9NzUxNmMyNDA2NGEzZWI0NzlmMDNmM2FiODk0MDU1NmNjMjdiYTM0NDc5MGZmODg2ZTg5NDU0ZWEyOTM3YzUyMSZlc3JjPUFVVE9fUFJJTlQmbWJpZD1DUk1OWVIwMTIwMTk/5bea0da82ddf9c72dc8e1c55Dd1e80d84), Musk’s SpaceX is currently the sole means by which NASA transports crew from U.S. soil into space. The government’s plan to move the auto industry toward electric cars requires increasing access to charging stations, many of which are owned by another Musk enterprise, Tesla. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military has relied on Musk’s Starlink mobile Internet terminals for communications in its fight against Russia. “We are living off his good graces,” a Pentagon official said, of Musk’s role in the war. “That sucks.”
Farrow added that it is easy to become distracted by the flurry of strange news and controversies that Musk invites and incites. “For all the arresting details about him, say, using ketamine and speaking with the Kremlin, I was in the end less transfixed by Musk and more by what his influence shows us about the systems around him,” he said. “There’s a lot to learn here about the consequences of extreme capitalism and the way in which declining state investment in important areas of progress has empowered private entities to fill new spaces—with consequences both positive and dangerous.”

Good Afternoon! Well, the kids are back. It's good for what ailes you for sure. Sometimes it's like there was no time between the end of last year and the beginning of this year. We have very little turn over and just a handful of new kids - well, there are 24 new kindergarteners - and I popped in there this morning and they are cute! I'll see them for music next Monday. Today, I did a lot of tech admin things that needed to be done, and tomorrow I'll do much of the same. I'll see each Jr High class for 10 minutes to talk about religion and music, and that's about it. I'm off on Wednesday, then I'll see the Jr High on Thursday and then the rest of the school for music next week. I'm glad the kids are back because then my motivation to get things done really begins. It can be exciting for sure. The rest of the day was a quick meeting and now I'm with the the boys.
-
I see what you did there, DR Jand72.
-
The weather in the Bay Area is very humid and sticky today. It's been cloudy all day and it rained for about 5 minutes this afternoon. It's also been gusty windy, so no bike ride today. The ceiling fan in the apartment works quite well so it's not too warm in here today. If they wind wasn't crazy, I'd definitely go for a ride, I love to ride in the humidity and such -but gusty wind, no way.

But have you felt your sackbut today.

Which reminds me of one of my favorite videos. You may not be able to make it very far.

Finishing up Ann Beattie’s book of short stories (actually a couple of novellas, my ASS), Onlookers. It’s a wonderful look at liberals in the Charlottesville area during covid and in the aftermath of the Unite the Right rally. Really good stuff. Unflinching portrait of the recent past, the bewildering legacy of Trump and more.

I think you should throw in a gunshot cue unexpectedly just to shake things up a bit.
Wish I could.

The best (worst) that I could do is set off a cue early or late, or jump a cue.
-
On second thought, that's not a very good idea.
No, it's not.

;)
-
I've made enough genuine mistakes that I don't want to deliberately screw things up.
-
And you could throw up a slide of a beach.
That would be funny, but they rarely look upstage, so they probably wouldn't notice it, just be wondering why the audience is laughing inappropriately.
-
Well, tonight's Monday night show went quite well.
-
There were industry friends in the audience, and they really enjoyed the show.
-
After the show, I drove through Wendy's and got a bacon double cheeseburger and a chicken sandwich (they're on their value menu).
-
I also got a Junior Strawberry Frosty.
-
That was free!
-
During January, Wendy's sells keychain fob things for $2.00, and every time you go to Wendy's (and show the thing, if they ask), you can get a free Junior Frosty for an entire year!
-
The first time that you get a free one, you've paid for the thing!
-
After that, you're ahead of the game...every time!
-
Gratuitous Post #200!! :D
-
And speaking of Wendy:
Peter Pan:
We'll need lots of wood
Need lots of leaves
Need lots of paint
But hush hush hush hush hush...
-
Let's be quiet as a mouse
And build a lovely little house
For Wendy
Oh for Wendy
She's come to stay
-
All:
We have a mother,
At last we have a mother!
-
Peter Pan:
Home sweet home
Upon the wall
A welcome mat
Down in the hall for Wendy
So that Wendy
Won't go away!
-
All:
We have a mother,
At last we have a mother!
-
Peter Pan:
Oh what pleasure
She'll bring to us
Make us pockets and sing to us
Tell us stories we've been longing to hear
Over and over!
-
She'll be waiting at the door
We won't be lonely anymore
Since Wendy
Lovely Wendy's here to stay
-
(Whistling)
-
All:
We have a mother,
At last we have a mother!
-
PAGE EIGHT (Whistling) DANCE!! ;)
-
All:
We have a mother,
At last we have a mother!
-
Peter Pan:
Oh what pleasure
She'll bring to us
Make us pockets and sing to us
Tell us stories we've been longing to hear
Over and over!
-
She'll be waiting at the door
We won't be lonely anymore
Since Wendy
-
All:
Lovely Wendy's here to stay
We have a mother,
At last we have a mother!
-
Peter Pan:
She'll be our mother,
It's nice to have a mother!
-
All:
Wendy's here to stay!
