Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fixed, and now it is time for you to post until the fixed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: QUIESCENT!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I found a new rain gauge for DR Laura, and it is really quite inexpensive!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Too warm, too humid, and I could not get to sleep Once I did, I had many strange dreams I no longer remember, except for this: I don't remember what I was up to but I had two strange hand-held players and earphones. Each player emitted different synthesized tunes and rhythms. Then, my friend Stan Luce, who died about fifteen years ago, showed up with a third player, and we passed them around.
Stan was a professor in the French Dept., and I met him in the first summer season of Miami University Summer Theatre, 1966, in which he played the romantic lead in the mystery-comedy The Bat. When I was a grad student, I took a course in contemporary French drama with him. We were never close friends, but I admired him greatly.
-
So, our DR ChasSmith will show up late thus morning to tote nine cartons of books, CDs, and DVDs out of my hair, visit, and have lunch. Annabelle is excited since she considers him her court photographer. I'm looking forward to the visit.
-
Good morning, all.
-
My night was rocky, too, but I had trouble deciding if it was too warm or too cool. This weather is just awful for that.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Looking forward to visiting with DR Elmore and seeing those kitties again. Can you believe it’s been over two years since the last time? And that it was two years prior to that, too, because of Covid?
-
Infringe at your peril.
-
Good morning
-
I nearly slept uninterrupted through the night
-
Except at 5:17 am some alarm went off on Vixdad’s phone, no doubt alerting us to bad weather or somesuch
-
We never found out because he made it stop and we went back to sleep
-
So if we were being warned to move to the basement because of a tornado or such , just know we’d rather be blown to Oz and back then get out of our comfy bed or put on our spectacles to see what the phone is yelling about
-
My arm isn’t hurting !
-
( I just realized that)
-
To night I am meeting two of my friends to see the stand up comedy act of Rhys Darby, somewhere in the deep dark wilds of Brooklyn
-
I hate driving in Brooklyn
-
I don’t know Rhys Darby at all
-
Well actually one of my other friends explained he’s the guy driving the Jeep in the Jumanji movie with The Rock and Jack Black
-
So there’s that
-
But unless the guy drove up in a Jeep and leaped out calling me Doctor whatever I wouldn’t recognize him
-
BUT I love hanging with Allison and Robyn and they’re always right when they say “ you’ll love this show…restaurant…movie”
-
So I shall be driving to Brooklyn directly after work today
-
But for now I am finishing my coffee
-
And just for a change of pace….

I look forward to DR VIXMOM's precis of Rhys Darby's so-called comedy act.
-
Good morning.
-
Vixmom, it was the fatigue and slight fever that got me with the shingles shot. I came home and took a nap, which tells you how serious that was. It hit about 18 hours later.
-
Good morning, good muffin to you! Here we are, I'm about to go meet the 23 new Kindergarten kids and we'll see if they sing in tune. LOL. Looks like the show is a go this evening as everyone seems healthy - including me as my Covid test was negative!
Vibes to all who need them.
Have a lovely day!

Definitely good enough reasons enough to go!
-
From Vixmom:
I didn’t have any other symptoms
That's good. Sorry I didn't mention last night that I found ice helped.
-
DR George the Kitchen Aid mixer looked about the same only in white. I like the red one.
-
I think that is a newer version of the one I have. They are very similar. I got mine when we stilled lived in Ashland.

I did that during a tornado warning years ago, though I hadn't actually heard the warning yet. I just watched the dead tree swaying in the high winds that had it gone down would have landed on me.

Awww, those little kids are so cute. Congrats on being covid free.

I imagine when DR VIXMOM meets up with her friends in the wilds of Brooklyn that she will say: "Dr. Livingston, I presume."
-
It is 91 degrees here with a "feels like" of 101 because of the hoo-middity.
Oh, the humidity!
-
I am watching AT THE EARTH'S CORE merely because I enjoy looking at Doug McClure....even though he has very dark hair in this particular opus.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about six hours of sleep.

Six is not enough.

Feel better vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.

DR George, I am interested to see what mixer you end up getting.

Isn't there a line in Wicked about having a "private little mixer"?

Six is not enough.
But with six you get eggroll.

My eyes are crossed... I've been color-coding an Excel spreadsheet all this livelong day.

We got a knock on our door this morning from building maintenance. Apparently there is water dripping down the wall and ceiling in the unit below ours.
It is frustrating because we've been reporting a problem with our A/C condenser for the past two months. Management came to paint over the black mold in our walls, but never addressed or fixed the underlying problem, and now it has come home to roost. I feel bad for the downstairs neighbor. A pox on management. Until they can fix the problem, they've asked us not to run our A/C. I hope it doesn't get too hot in the meantime.

That was the story of my working-from-home life throughout my last ten years on the job. I lived by Excel spreadsheets, and plenty of customizing went into them.

I doubt they didn't explain the reason for not fixing the problem before it became an issue.

I didn't know that you could just paint over black mold. Was it treated first?

Played a funeral today for a guy I actually knew. Alcoholism finally caught up with him. He left behind 3 sons, I taught them all at some point. The oldest is a Junior in high school and his eulogie was a letter to his dad. He mentioned twice how his dad's alcoholism was tough on his family. I was very proud of him for being open. It wasn't really a secret, but to hear it from his son made me tear up for sure.
Anyway - off to the show. We have a healthy cast! Let's see how much they'll remember!

As the child of an alcoholic, I think the fact it wasn't a secret, and the son could talk about it at the funeral is absolutely wonderful. I wish it hadn't been a "secret" in my family.

The first time I read this hack my heart skipped a beat and I almost opened it. Fortunately it came from a good friend who of course would have simply told me the name of the friend that died.

There are some KitchenAid hand mixers on eBay that cost less than Fred Meyer's sale prices...even in red. :)
-
But they may be older models, too. I don't know.
-
Yes, that one is going around a lot, DR Jane.
-
;D
-
But they may be older models, too. I don't know.
True. And what if it doesn't work well? I guess it depends if the price is worth it.

Well, I bought a new red KitchenAid hand mixer on eBay for only $45.99 (including tax and with free shipping). :)

Last time I used mine was when we had company. While not a year, it had been awhile prior to that.

Oh, what a day I had today!
I slept late! Went to the post office and got mail which remains in my car, because I also went to Third Generation and got my Friday baked catfish, baked sweet potato, green beans and GRITS!
I then took a nap. After the nap, I noshed on an ice cream cone.
And then I decided to find something new to watch. While I know there are plenty of Max offerings I wish to view, I found what I wanted on Netflix.
That's correct. I found a show on Netflix, and I think it's a humdinger.
I have watched all of Season 1 of "The Umbrella Academy".
Two seaons to go, plus a final Season 4 will be up at some point in near future.
-
Last night before torpor set in, I fully, wholly and completely enjoyed Episode 4 of the current "Only Murders in the Building."
This episode is called "The White Room". It was blindingly amusing once I got the idea of what the title means. Have never heard of it, but it seems to be a "thing".
-
But I could be wrong.
Of course, you are wrong. A hand mixer can certainly be placed inside the pot in which corn will be popped while it pops.
It will be messy, of course, but it CAN be done.
-
That's all I know.
Sorry.
So sue me!
Tomorrow IS another day.
-
Well, fiddle-dee-dee, Scarlett!
-
'Tis another day indeed.
-
And a Saturday at that.
-
Good night, friends.

I remember being ashamed of my dad's alcoholism when I was in junior high and high schools.
I didn't want anyone to come over for supper or a sleepover because I never knew what kind of day he might have that would lead to drink. It didn't take that much, either.
A lot of holiday visits, once I was in the Navy, were ruined by his drinking. He would be fine for a few days, and then would disappear one evening and come rolling in stinking drunk in the early hours. There would be scenes of remorse and weeping, and I was absolutely/resolutely unmoved by it. He had been in and out of AA a number of times.
All of that said, when he had his stroke, he was set up for the longest streak of sobriety he had ever known as an adult. In ICU, post-surgery (they drained blood by drilling a hole in the back of his head to relieve the pressure on the brain), he went into DTs.
He lived another 11 years. As defenseless as he was during that time, he also became the sweetest guy...temperate, agreeable, and a guy I wish I could have known in my earlier life.
-
'Tis another day indeed.
And a Saturday at that.
I live on the east coast, DRslotcaw. It is NOT yet Saturday here. More than half an hour remains.

I’m bored.

Finished with my viewing. An interesting experience.

Where's page nine, for heaven's sake?
-
What a slowwwwwwwwwww posting day.
-
Just shaved and will shower before bed, then I don't have to do that stuff in the morning.
-
Haven't figured out where I'll breakfast yet. I just get so irritated at the prices, frankly.
-
I'm home.
-
Tonight, we had 32 people!
-
That's been our largest audience, so far!
-
Amd they did enjoy tonight's show.

After the show, I did a little shopping at Fred Meyer, and then came home...which is where I am now.

Tonight, we had almost a full house. It was a great show. I had a sub in for banjo and that worked out well, I'm happy about that. The cast was great and we all received a standing ovation. Maybe our 2nd or 3rd in this run. There are a few seats left for tomorrow and we are sold out on Sunday and then we are done.
Tomorrow, I have a callback for White Christmas - that should be fun. I have to dance.

But noooooo.

-
No?
