Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the problem with Big Sugar Bakeshop, and now it is time for you to post until the big problem cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PHILOMUSE!
-
Wow...the last time that Hisaka posted was almost 16 years ago.
-
So long ago that I remember her!
-
I vow to never eat at Big Sugar Bakeshop in solidarity with BK’s unhappy gut.

Q for BK:
Regarding special movie previews, Harvey doesn’t get into comment cards much. Were there always comment cards or people talking to the audience after the films? Or sometimes was the goal just to watch an audience’s general reaction? I’m curious if there was some sort of feedback generally asked of the preview audiences, or could you enjoy previews and never get asked your opinion at all?
-
Only preview I ever saw was during grad school at Bowling Green. Someone passed around postcards for a free screening at the campus theater. We were handed comment cards with little pencils. The movie was a dreadful Xmas comedy with Nic Cage, Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz as criminal brothers. It was from hunger.

Good morning, all!

DR Rodzinski. welcome home! I enjoyed your family photos.
-
I slept well. Today I need to book Access-a-Ride for tomorrow's doctor visit and send a most important email to Dr Kassapidis about the hip replacement.
-
DR vixmom since I know little about Florida geography, are the vixter and hubby worried about the hurricane?
-
Good morning, all.

Great photos, Rodzinski.

Lucky guessing, I guess.

Good morning, all.

I was awake way too early this morning, for all the pleasant exhaustion from yesterday and last night.
And what was I rewarded with, for all of that? One stupid dream that went on forever, that I can't even remember now. No wait, there's a vague image of it. But nothing I can describe, even to myself. It was absolutely meaningless and a waste of good sleep.
-
Welcome back and nice pictures, DR Rodzinski!
-
Good morning!
-
I heard from the Vixter that it is raining hard but they are not in the direct path of the hurricane so feel confident they’ll be ok
-
They are also both working from home now
-
Both these things relieved me no end
-
Hastings on the Hudson was indeed beautiful
-
I ended up not stating to explore because of all the roadworks I encountered on the way up. I could see the roads had limited lighting fixtures so decided I wanted to depart in the day
-
Fortunately the traffic was with me and I experienced no long delays
-
I was exhausted however I fell asleep shortly after arriving home

Wonderful photos from the prodigal DR RODZINSKI.

I liked DR ELMORE's story of his day yesterday.....similar sentiments are the only thing keeping me around this theeder again next season.

Congrats to DR GENERAL MATTHEW.
What are we going to do with him?

Thank you. I saw The Boy With Green Hair when I was a kid and I still can’t get the song the boy and his friends sing out of my head. “Chip, chip my little horse. Chip, chip again, sir…”

Good morrow, gentle folk!
We are under an intense rain/high winds watch.
I tried watching Morning Joe earlier...and it was all centered on Hurricane Idalia's landfall.
On the one hand, it was quite refreshing to have a few hours of ZERO mention of Trump.
On the other hand, I wanted to tell them we have the Weather Channel for continuous updates about weather.
Oh, well. It's news. I only hope it doesn't do anything newsworthy in my neck of the woods.
-
I shall soon hie me hence to the postal office. it being Wednesday, the office closes at noon.
I don't actually expect anything, but any time I miss picking up mail (or checking it), I find a stuffed mailbox the day after.
-
I have hied me thence and returned.
In today's mail, a legitimate, Disney-issued CD of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" soundtrack by John Williams.
Sounds like a ho-hum comment, I know, but it's an accomplishment inasmuch as Disney only printed a modest amount of the CDs in its first run and sold all very quickly. Little did they know that thousands of Williams fans would raise hell. There have been two subsequent re-dos by Disney after initially saying the limited run would not be re-done.
-
By the way:
Rodzinski, I see you!

Good Morning - it's Wednesday, my official day off, but I'm heading to school in a bit nonetheless. I'm one of the Student Council "advisors" and we have our first school mass tomorrow and Student Council is doing the mass - it's also the swearing in of the Student Council. So, there I shall be. I'm playing some callbacks for a local high school this afternoon, that should be fun for sure.

Or sometimes was the goal just to watch an audience’s general reaction? I’m curious if there was some sort of feedback generally asked of the preview audiences, or could you enjoy previews and never get asked your opinion at all?
My experience with previews, and I saw as many as Preview Harvey, was that comment cards were a rarity. I actually can't ever remember seeing a comment card before or after a preview. If the filmmakers and studio were there, they'd gauge the audience reaction. The only time I remember huge amounts of redos being done based on bad previews were The Sandpiper and Return of the Pink Panther. The latter had a huge number of fixes and reshoots after the preview I saw. Same with The Sandpiper.
Mel Brooks did it very differently. He'd screen the film for an audience on the Fox lot. I saw three or four of his movies that way because I was friends with his assistant. I don't recall any heavy changes, though, just trims and stuff. The fun part was there was no music in the films when we saw those screenings.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep. Again.
-
I would hate to have only one swearing day a week.....especially when I'm directing a show.
-
Checked DoorDash for the order before five thing, but there's none today unless they start it after the lunch hour, which may be the case. I can wait. Feeling a bit better.
-
Music cues are finished.
I use a nice free program called Ocenaudio when I need to edit an MP3 or add an early fade.......it's obviously easy to use because I can do it.
There are several effects that I have never even used....but it seems to be a program that can accomplish much.
-
Glad MR BK is feeling better.
-
I am nervous about the full run thru this evening....but survive we shall.....if history is any indication.
-
I get more nervous as a director than I do as an actor.
-
Ran a couple of errands, and since I take a shortcut through BJ's driveway to cut through to the main road, I can report that gas is still $3.56, where I think it's been holding for a couple of weeks.
-
Weather-wise, we are now supposedly in a nice dry and not-too-hot pattern for the next few days, but I see that they're threatening us with another few days of 90 or just above in the middle of next week.
-
Question for Bruce:
Did you see a preview for "Young Frankenstein" on the Fox lot? If so, is it true there was a backstage scene (during the theater presentation of the Monster) in which Dr. Frankenstein sees Igor in a tux without a hump and asks him what happened to his hump? Allegedly, Igor said, "Never with tails".
-
Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain.
All day long.
But...that's good as long as the winds don't get too strong.
-
Good afternoon.
-
They are promising more rain tomorrow.
There's one big problem with that statement.
We can't have "more" if we haven't had any yet.
-
Today is my DH's birthday. We went to the buffet to celebrate because we are old people.
I filled my plate with meat items. I gave of myself until I became anemic, apparently.

I think I'd remember that so I don't think so. It was pretty much the finished film without music. I don't remember any scenes being cut, maybe just trims.
-
No rain here. HOT.

Been working on the project with David Wechter. No mail at the mail place. Important envelopes are due, hopefully tomorrow.

Yesterday DR Ron Pulliam said:
Yes, I have had several varieties of smashburgers, and I have loved all of them, for the most part.
I like the crispy patties more than any chewy patty. It's pure flavor. Cheese adds the chewiness, and I love grilled onions and pickles on them, too.
Thank you, sir. A voice out of the wilderness. That makes two of us in this jernt who know and understand smash burgers. Right down to the onions and pickles which of course work on many styles of burger, but they're incredibly well matched to these.
I love many kinds of burgers, but we have here, 15 minutes from my house, one of the greatest and most lovable of original drive-ins whose style of burger has always been this, though it was never called that because the word is a new trendy thing. It's one of the best smash burgers you could hope to stuff into your pie hole. The picture below shows them on a typical summer Saturday evening when they host a "cruise night" for showing off yer vintage automobile. You can't do better on a Saturday than to wander through there admiring the cars and eating your fill of the most scrumptious cheeseburgers, fries, shakes, and homemade root beer.
So yes, they're nothing new, but someone finally gave a name to the method. They're easy to make at home on a very hot griddle or frying pan, and I really steamed up my kitchen when I first tried it. Must revisit that.
Sadly, I'm not too surprised BK's didn't impress. I don't see a fast-made serve-it-hot burger like that retaining all of its qualities on a home delivery basis. You really want to sit right at the counter where you can see them being made, and eat 'em as they come off the grill.

Earlier tonight, I went to my friend Kyle's house and brought Meconi's subs (https://www.meconissubs.com/) for us and his partner Danielle to eat for dinner.
-
Kyle and I were in Sunday in the Park with George together a few months ago.
-
While in the show, we'd talk in the dressing room and every once in a while, I'd through out these useless nuggets of musical theater history or information, and since the other guys weren't as much into musicals as I am, they were all somewhat impressed. ::)
-
;D
-
Anyway, Kyle got it into his head that he and I should do a podcast together with us just talking about musicals and theater other stuff.
-
And tonight's dinner/meeting was to discuss what kind of format it should be, and what guests we should have, if any, and things like that.
-
I'm not completely sold on it, but I said that I'd do it, but that I really didn't want to think about it until after the Hotel Olympian show is over.
-
He's got more time, so he'll start thinking about things, and talking to a few people, and we'll see what happens.
