Well, you've read the notes, the notes labored, and now it is time for you to post until the laborious cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PETRICHOR!
-
Good morning, all!
-
After I finished the laundry yesterday morning, I had a really bad and extremely gross spell of poor health. It was bad. When I finished cleaning up the bathroom, it was past noon. I lay down for a spell, then got up and worked on the Act Two Finale. Ann and Jen stopped by to visit, and aftter they left, I put the clean laundry away, fed the cats, and lay down to watch a bootleg DVD of the Scottish Opera broadcast of Candide. When Act One ended, I cleaned the cat' dinner dishes, changed their water, and went back to bed to watch Act Two.
-
When Candide was over, I read a bit. At 8:30, I went to bed and slept very well. Around 5:15 Annabelle crawled into bed to cuddle. I fell asleep for a bit and woke at 6:10. Today. I don't as poorly as I did yesterday, and I intend to finish the ballet score today.
-
DR vixmom, you had quite a full day yesterday! I loved the photos and the East Village tour.
-
Hope today is better, DR elmore3003.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
What is it, a holiday or something?
-
Thanks for the travelogue, DR vixmom. Fun and entertaining.
-
Thanks to DR Rodzinski and DR George for your Herculean efforts last night.
-
Today we are going to visit the mother in law, do some errands, and attending a cookout.
-
The heat index is supposed to be over 100.

You'll look better

Good morning, all.

Feel better vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
We saw The Bad News Bears at the cinema and laughed our heads off.
-
I, too, enjoyed DR VIXMOM's travelogue yesterday.
-
Just learned I’m going to see Here We Are on Nov. 11. The matinee is early. I think it’s 1 p.m. So I will be in NYC that day.

We have a full dress run thru tonight, and I will see the lighting design for the first time.
I have chosen some jewelry and watches for the sisters and Myrtle....so we shall see what works.
I also have some nice cuff links and a tie bar for the gentleman who wears a suit and tie.....the other gentleman wears a bow tie so he is good to go.

Good morning, all.

Vixmom’s postings wore me the hell out.
-
Labor Day!
And we’re in for a hot week. Hang onto yer ASSes, everyone.
-
Just learned I’m going to see Here We Are on Nov. 11. The matinee is early. I think it’s 1 p.m. So I will be in NYC that day.
Ooh! WFO and I were talking about getting tickets for that
-
I have to make one quick trip out for a couple of things, and I’ll do that soon. Because otherwise I’m taking it easy today and watching movies. For food later I’m grilling a couple of burgers. And then watching more movies.
-
Just had a long chat with Vixter and Vixhubby
-
Now I must Wordle and get going there are Things To Do
-
Since I played all weekend
-
On a sudden whim last night I took out the AIRPORT set of movies, and watched the original AIRPORT. I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but I was stunned at how damned good it really is. The second half is rather mind-blowing in quality suspense and fine movie making all around. I’m sad that I never went to see it in the theeder, that I can recall. It had to have been incredible on the big screen.

Labor Day greetings! We have been busy since Wednesday evening when Charlotte, Hannah, and their parents arrived. They left about an hour ago and our house is too, too quiet.
-
DR Ron, sorry I missed your birthday - hope you had a great day!
-
Today is Rob and Mary Linda’s 12th wedding anniversary.
-
DR vixmom, are there any tickets left now for the Sondheim production? I think DR John G was very lucky. I look forward to his NYC arrival.
-
I'm moving very cautiously today. Happily, I'm halfway through the Act Two Finale.
-
Happy anniversary, Rob and Mary Linda.
-
DR vixmom, are there any tickets left now for the Sondheim production? I think DR John G was very lucky. I look forward to his NYC arrival.
I was lucky in that Carol was in charge of getting the tickets.
-
Very exciting DR JOHN G.
-
Of course because of a serious conflict with two cast members we are rehearsing today instead of Friday.....but that gives me a three day weekend coming right up!
-
DR Ron, sorry I missed your birthday - hope you had a great day!
Thank you, Ginny!
-
My, how quickly time passes when you sleep until 10:30 a.m. and then try to ketchup at the computer.
I am still in "breakfast" mode and it's nearly 2 p.m.

Thanks, Singdaw!

Just learned I’m going to see Here We Are on Nov. 11.
How wonderful!!!!
-
We saw The Bad News Bears at the cinema and laughed our heads off.
I never saw it in the theater, but I remember watching it on HBO when I was younger and loving it.
-
I think my sister and I saw "The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training" in the theater. That was really funny, too (to us, at least)...but Walter Matthau wasn't in that one. ::)
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
Hoping for proofer two's second half soon so I can get done.
-
Just learned I’m going to see Here We Are on Nov. 11. The matinee is early. I think it’s 1 p.m. So I will be in NYC that day.
That fantastic!! Have a great time, John! I'm so jealous!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Rob and Mary Linda!!!!
-
I'm back from the errands, and shouldn't have to go back out for a couple of days.
Man, it's hot out there.
It really is the "ideal" summer holiday weekend that we so rarely see in these parts. This kind of hot isn't so much my cup of tea, but taken in moderation (and plenty of shade), I'm all for it being good for everyone else.
The bizarre thing will be tomorrow through Thursday, and maybe even Friday, but it's rising gradually each day with Thursday peaking in the mid-90s. That will indeed seem "unseasonal", but believe me, any delay to winter is fine in my book.
-
I'm thinking of following up AIRPORT with HOTEL.
I want to run through the three AIRPORT sequels, too, silliness and all, but I'd like to savor the goodness of HOTEL before moving on to those.
-
Topic of the Day (in addition to the aforementioned The Bad News Bears):
Goodbye, Charlie
The Grass Harp
Hello, Dolly!
Hopscotch
House Calls
I Ought to Be in Pictures
A New Leaf
The Odd Couple

:)
-
DR Vixmom are you enjoying season two of Good Omens?
-
Suspecting it would not come close to season one, which I LOVED, I really didn't want to watch it.
-
We have two episodes left and doubt we will return to the show.
-
Vixmom, nice photo at the street fair.
-
I also enjoyed the rest of the photos from your lovely day.
-
Willow Cats Books is very cute.
-
I would like to take Freyja shopping there.
-
Of course I want to pet the cat in the shop.

Look what I found online.

Beauty Bar
"In 1995, two guys approached an elderly woman who had owned a beauty salon for quite some time and offered to take over her space. She agreed, upon learning that her 1930s décor would remain. To this day, Beauty Bar has stayed true to its original character. Hair dryers from the 1950s and 1960s and barbershop chairs line the walls. Even manicures are offered nightly, but the rest is all about being a bar. And there is a back room where they have comedy nights, burlesque shows and DJs with dancing. The owners described the mix of people who frequent the bar as everyone from tourists to neighborhood regulars, gay to straight, and cross dressers to guys in business suits. In short, everyone."

There will be a "Ring of Fire" solar eclipse on October 14 with limited U.S. viewability. If you're in the orange band below, you're in luck.

From DR Rodzinski:
To answer Jane’s query, they are to me like a slightly coffee-flavored Whatchamacallit.
LOL, not sure I have ever had a Whatchmacallit. I did look it up.

My nephew, the French horn player, just called. He’s joining the Marine Corps band, if he passes his drug test.
-
He tells me he’s been studying for that.
-
He also told me that he’s getting married to his girlfriend of five years.
-
They’ll have a civil ceremony this month and a reception next May.
-
So, some happy news.
-
I wonder if he’ll like the Marine Corps.
-
I started doing dishes.
-
Plenty more to do.

Five!

Congratulations to your nephew, DR John G, on both counts!

Thank you, Ginny and Jane, on Herman’s behalf.

Watching Miss Joan Crawford in The Damned Don’t Cry.

You are welcome.
-
Herman is not a name you see very often anymore.
-
My mother’s brother — and a favorite uncle — is named Herman.
-
Thanks for the backstory on the name.
-
I had been reading I Have Some Questions for You and couldn't finish it.
-
The only reason I read this is that my brother pushed me to read it.
-
Now I have to tell him why I didn't like it.
-
CONGRATULATIONS to DN Herman. You have to be pretty darn good at your instrument to achieve that level!
-
Starting Four Quartets, a film of Ralph Fiennes reciting T.S. Eliot’s poem.
-
One issue is due to my eyes. It is difficult this style of writing, too much information coming at me too fast. A bit like Harvey on steroids without his charm.
-
The author added the names of dozens of people who donated to a charity. All that useless name dropping drove me nuts.
-
One thing my brother did get right, is it would make for a good book group discussion.

Kathleen Turner was demonically brilliant. She kills Patty Hearst because Patty was wearing white shoes after Labor Day, an etiquette faux pas.
-
That movie was unexpectedly moving. I read along with a copy of the poem, which is both brilliant and occasionally puerile. (I know some English profs who’d slay me fir tgst remark.)
-
But if you like poetry or the power of one-person shows, it’s worth an investment of 87 minutes of your time.

Singer of “Dream Weaver,” Gary Wright has passed on.

Gary was in the original Broadway cast of “Fanny.”

We just finished season 2 of Good Omens . I didn’t like it as well as the first season

But if there is a 3rd season I will probably watch it

Oh, no. :(
-
Every now and again, a movie is playing on TV that I think I have seen. Today, a channel was playing "The Dark Knight" followed by "The Dark Knight Rises". They had two showings of each.
I turned on "The Dark Knight" to see if I remembered how it ended, and I did. And then "The Dark Knight Rises" started up and, whaddayaknow, I had never seen it!
So, I watched it, and I revelled in it, and very much enjoyed it for what it was. I read up on it in terms of how Christopher Nolan was skeptical about doing a third Batman film (he had done "Batman Begins" and followed it a couple of years later with "The Dark Knight"). Oddly enough, he thought he found a way to write a new film that wouldn't be too repetitious of the previous two, and I think he nailed it.
Oddly enough, I read a comment by someone who said it was based on the French Revolution, and indeed it shared elements with what we know of that event.
It was made quite clear that none of the players would be making any other Batman films even though it left the door wide open for someone else to try.
And that led, circuitously via so-so Ben-Affleck-as-Batman films, to "The Batman" which I also think is quite wonderful.
All of that said, I really don't care to see any newer Batman films unless something truly extraordinary is made of a story.

I spent most of the day going through stored stuff and locating baby stuff

Oh, spit!
I have started the dreaded page 7.

I have a number of hand made blankets and quilts that were made for the Vixter.

Goodness Ron, I think we are now obligated to move the page forward to eight

I have to go back to work tomorrow

Good news from DR GINNY.

Exciting news from DR JOHN G.
-
I am not in the orange band.
-
Tonight was first night off book......it was worse than I expected....especially after everyone having THREE DAYS OFF in a row.....to prepare.
Interminable.....and of course it's always somebody else's fault...."they didn't say....."
You still wouldn't have known what YOU say after that, dumb bell.
-
I am happy about all of the love for Goodbye, Charlie here today....it always makes me laugh.....Debbie Reynolds, Pat Boone, and Joanna Barnes are all so funny.....as is of course Mr. Walter M.
-
I have sent out the notes!
They have been declassified....and I hope everyone reads them.
-
Alexa just played the title song from Barry Manilow’s Harmony. I liked it.
-
I don’t think I have seen either The Dark Knight or its sequel.

I saw a church production of Goodbye, Charlie when I was a wee bairn. Maybe 7 or 8.

Good night, all.

Here's how the day without Labor went. Seven hours of sleep. Proofer two's second half of fixes arrived. I put those in or not, save for the six I had to run by Muse Margaret. We talked and I finished up. I then spent four HOURS putting it all into the little initial design program with proper margins and font. I still need to put in the chapter headings, as those are in a different font that Doug has to send to me and talk me through installing. Meanwhile, Muse Margaret liked the cover but had one thing she didn't care for so we're addressing that now - there are two ways to deal with - Doug will start with the easiest of them first - if that doesn't do it, then he'll do the harder one. Second blurber has the book now. First blurber asked for a deadline and I told him September 15.
-
Some day without Labor.
-
Watched some videos but not a whole movie - no time.
-
Had faux chicken stroganoff over rice - excellent. Under 1000 calories.
-
That's three days in a row and since I have ground beef left, tomorrow will be Taco Tuesday, so that will be four days of 1000 calories. If I can then keep that up for the next three months, I may actually shed some poundage and boy do I need to.
-
Well, this is pretty cool...BK's reached a very unique posting millstone number! ;D
-
So today, the family went to my mom's for some of her "enchiladas."
-
They were good, but what they were were bean and cheese burritos put in a baking pan and covered with green enchilada sauce (she had gotten some homemade sauce from someone she knows), and then covered in shredded cheddar cheese.
-
Simple, and not really enchiladas at all, but still quite good.
-
I brought some home for later. :)
-
Gratuitous Post #222!!
-
She also made a plum cake.
-
It's a very simple cake-like base, covered in cut up plums, and then covered in a streusel.
-
I don't know how else to describe it.
-
I'll take a picture of what I brought home and be right back.
-
And here it is:
-
It's not very sweet because the crust doesn't have a lot of sugar in it and there's no sugar added to the plums...just the streusel topping.
-
It's quite yummy. :)
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Notes will be read.
