Well, you've read the notes, the notes were designed, and now it is time for you to post until the designing dummy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PAREIDOLIA!
-
I am up early because I could not get back to sleep after awakening and discovering my left ear is stopped up.
That's right...I cannot hear out of my left ear. I have no idea why. I have not immersed or submerged it in water, and I am not otherwise ill. But the sensation is rather unpleasant. It throws off my sense of balance, as well.
-
I shall endeavor to live with it for a day or so.
My impulse, however, is to rush to a specialist and ask for help,
-
Good morning, all!
-
You don't think you should call your doctor, DR Ron Pulliam? Perhaps you should drive to a pharmacy and purchase an ear wax kit?
-
I was awake from 3:30 thinking about the curtain calls music. The alarm rang at 5:00. Access-a-Ride is picking me up early to take me to a Northwell Health lab for a PSA test. I need it for tomorrow's doctor's appointment.
-
This morning is a first I gave the cats their breakfast around 5:45, and none of them has rushed to eat it.
-
Last night, around 6:30, Doug called me about the ballet's conclusion. So, I went to my worktable, tore up the last page I had written, and rescored the ending. I finished a little before 9:00 and went straight to bed.
-
Notes waxed. Waned.
-
Good morn Dear Elmore. I’m another who can’t sleep. Daughter hopped into our bed a bit ago and she’s kicking the shit out of me.
-
Peculiar about your hearing DR Ron. Hope it gets back to normal soon.
-
First day of school went well. In Canada they really start em off gently. For the first several days, you go to your teacher from the prior year. Not sure the value of it. Then for Kindergarten, it’s only 45 min the first few days and gradually increases. Makes for many trips over the border for me.
-
But it sure beats sending them on a bus for 45 min to the Washington schools.
-
John asked, yes I’m looking for editorial work before AI gets all the jobs. I’ve had a few freelance clients over my dad years, but none of those are fulltime options.

Good morning, friends.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good luck and job-hunting vibes, Rodzinski.
-
Access-a-Ride says my ride will be here in 15 minutes. I hope he's on time since I have no idea how long I will end up waiting at the lab before they see me.
-
The AC people yesterday were the first crew in my apartment to be afraid of the cats. Stella likes visitors, and she kept hanging around one of them. I guess I'm getting a new AC, but I don't know when it will arrive or what the landlord is going to charge me for it. I kept it off all day yesterday and turnewd it on when I sent to bed. This morning I had a large puddle in the middle of my living space. The neighbor below me has called the landlord to repair her ceiling from my leak. I advised her to wait until the new AC is installed.
-
Good luck and job-hunting vibes, Rodzinski.
Ditto!

Well it turns out my friend Suzanne will be unable to attend the Trail Talk that has been changed to Sunday, November 5, because she will be in NYC.
I shall be the one that started at the Phoenix the earliest. I am reticent....OH YES.....I'm reticent.
-
Are tickets on sale yet DR singdaw?
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Productions at CBS Television City are moving to Haven Studios in Glendale. Did you ever attend any tapings at Television City....or was the DINAH! Show recorded there?
-
Are tickets on sale yet DR singdaw?
Hot off the presses! But we won't open until M@7 closes.

Classical music shake-up: Universal bought Hyperion, and now Apple Classical has bought BIS.
There are practically no significant independent classical labels left.

I have made an appointment with an ENT specialist, but it's not until the 19th. I am also on a list to be called in the event an earlier appointment is cancelled.
I have a WUSH...powered earwax remover unit which I have never used. Am charging it up right now and will carefully attempt to resolve this issue myself, but I won't be too aggressive about it.

This is really the strangest sensation I have had in a long time. All my hearing is in my right ear, but it's all off balance.

DR Singdaw I briefly used a cold compress.

This morning, around the time I normally get out of bed, I was in the dentist chair getting my permanent crown put on.
-
Now I have a headache and my teeth are more sensitive than usual.

The price tag didn't help the mild headache ;D
-
I don't know why anyone would prefer to have an injection over dealing with the brief pain during this stage of the process.

DR JANE beware the closet.
LOL. I knew at the time I was being stupid for rushing.
-
Thanks Vixmom, all still looks good on my head.

Good Morning - today is the "Day off" for the week. I have errands to do, a bike tire to fix and maybe get a ride in. Need to go get guitar strings at Guitar Center as I popped a string yesterday - always the same one. I'll probably go to Trader Joes as well and we'll see how much damage I can do there. Things are moving rather quickly these days!

Well, today was "Access-a-Ride from Hell" day. Both drivers were kind and helpful, but here's the layout:
the ride to the lab was about 10 minutes late, and he had aother passenger going to St Luke's Roosevelt hospital at 114th Street; he dropped her off and then drove me to East 77th Street. The entire ride took me over 45 minutes.
the driver on the return called me and told me he would be there in two minutes; I went outside and waited; I called the driver who told me he was stuck behind a fire truck. 25 minutes he showed up.

I just spoke to Joshie to plan our day on Friday, and I told him about the latest health issue. During that discussion, I had a panic attack, and broke down and wept. If the heart is bad and the surgery is cancelled, I can live on that damned walker. If the heart is bad, I am frightened of my mortality; I am not ready to die yet. Color me scared until Tuesday.
-
On a happier note, I am about to write a raucous Charleston to finish the ballet.
-
Well, I guess it's going to happen!

Jrand, yes Dinah was taped at Television City, same stage as Red Skelton and Danny Kaye. I attended many tapings there when I was young. Several Skelton shows, several Kaye shows, People Are Funny, etc.

Wanting it before we travel to see the kids, I have been hoping to get the new covid vaccination before we leave.
-
Now it might be available on the 13th of this month but that is still iffy. What we can get is our RSV on Friday, not that I expect to need it yet. We will still do that since two weeks time difference is recommended between getting covid and RSV.
-
For sure, DR Rodzinski.

I hope we don't catch anything in Milwaukee before we visit Craig. I haven't seen him in a long time :(

Progress:
My doctor specializes in all three ENT disciplines. Before we even got to my ear, he detected my severe sinus issues.
He said I have polyps in both nostrils and an infection behind the polyps.. Meds prescribed for that.
I have no fluid or wax built up in my ear -- prognostication is that it is a viral infection linked to the sinus infection. Meds prescribed for that.
Am on Prednisone the next three weeks, Amoxicillin the next two weeks and Valacyclovir the next 10 days. All of that plus a nasal spray.
The doctor was very professional, very encouraging and very happy I came to him the same day I lost my hearing in my left ear.
Whew!
-
Thanks for the update, and thank goodness there was a cancellation today.

Two new Amazon reviews for Preview Harvey. Here's one:
Allen Blank
5.0 out of 5 stars A must read to all movie buffs
Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2023
Verified Purchase
Bruce Kimmel has crafted a novel about a long forgotten practice by the movie studios, the Major Studio sneak preview. This was where studios would show an upcoming movie in a double feature to test audience reaction so they know if they're going to have a hit or not. The main character is a special person who has a condition nobody at the time, 1940's and 50's knew exactly what it was, but basically had a mind of a child. He gets fixated on going to these previews and becomes a fixture at these events. He gets the attention of the studio representatives who begin to value his opinion. Director Blake Edwards thinks of him as a good luck charm and Jerry Lewis nicknames him Preview Harvey, which is the book's title.
It's a great look back to the movie going experience of a bygone era. Harvey talks about the different theaters he sees the movies at, as well as the movies he sees in general. The book brings back old memories for me of the sneak previews I saw growing up in Queens NY and like Harvey I saw a lot of them. It's a sweet and lovely story and I highly recommend it to people who like me when to these advance previews when we were young.

Here's the second:
Allen F. Hollis
5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Trip To The Days Of Major Studio Movie Previews
Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2023
Author Bruce Kimmel has spun a wonderful tale of not old Hollywood or new Hollywood but from what I call mid Hollywood. Set in in tinsel town in 1954 and follows the life of a strange person called Preview Harvey into the 1970’s. His story is different in that he’s not famous and is just a average person that loves movies, especially a Major Studio Preview.
I immediately fell in love with the story and how Mr. Kimmel crafted it with Harvey’s recollections of all the Previews he had seen and which famous Hollywood theatre he saw the movies in. You can tell that Mr. Kimmel knows and loves the the theaters of that era, which is a huge plus. As the story unfolds he becomes a regular at Major Studio Previews and he makes no bones about what his feelings are concerning each movie with studio representatives, as they are anxious to hear from him at the end of each preview.
There is a lot heart also in this story with the loving interaction with his parents, especially his mother, who only wants him to be happy. There is fun in reading of Harvey’s interaction with a group of other preview ‘nuts’ and how their strange friendship grows.
You will need to find a Hollywood Stars Baseball Cap to wear and munch on a box of Dots as you read this and be taken back to the 50’s and 60’s Hollywood from an outsiders view.

That's too bad, Jrand. :-\

My rehearsal went well, I guess.

I got there, and I wasn't really sure if I needed to be there because they went through act three and the only thing I do is sing in the big group number "By the Light of the Silvery Moon."

But since no one told me that I didn't need to be there, I stayed.
-
I do not care for page seven.

And it was a good thing that I did stay.

A slight noise or a rustling.
-
In the show, there's a scene where the Chamber of Commerce Glee Club (it's in the script and not a real glee club) sings "Look for the Silver Lining."
-
And yet.
-
And we wouldn't BE on page seven had George not shown up at midnight rather than earlier, due to stuffing his face with free tacos and going down rabbit holes.
Tonight, I was over at my friend Shelly's playing Phase 10 and chatting about important things...for once.
-
Anyway, the author of the play asked if I would be part of that glee club scene because they only had two men in the group (and probably five or six women) and it would be nice to have another lower voice, so I said yes.

We ran act three a couple of times, and then we left.
