Well, you've read the notes, the notes imitated the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the imitation cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: REBOUND!
-
Topic of the Day: the NEW Broadway cast recording to Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Sweeney-Todd-The-Demon-Barber-of-Fleet-Street-2023-Broadway-Cast/47947/)!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I needed a bathroom break around 4:30, and then I spent the next thirty minutes waiting for the alarm to ring. At 5:10 it did, and I really want to go back to bed. Instead, I must go to City Center to see Joshie this morning. This moring, we start work on our attept to restore the original orchestrations for Once Upon a Mattress. It will be a fun project.
-
All I need is Access-a-Ride to cooperate.
-
First thing I did this morning when I got up was to turn on the AC. I'm hoping there's little flooding before I turn it off when I leave.
-
DR vixmom, what an exciting life you lead! It wore me out to read about it.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
So excited about your new project, DR elmor3003.
-
~~~A/C VIBES~~~
-
Thanks for your heroic narrative last night, DR vixmom. Glad all turned out well.
-
Nice package, DR George! ;)
-
:)
-
DR George, thanks for letting us all know that the new Sweeney has finally been released!
-
Good morning.
Thanks, Bruce, for the reminder that it is Friday.
-
Good morning, all.
Speaking of fish sticks, I don't believe I have ever had any that were better than those served in the Greenville County (South Carolina) school system. They were large, crispy on outside, flaky on inside and very tasty.
Ditto that system's yeast rolls. OMG! Students would offer anything to have your roll...their dessert, their meat, even money.
I never yielded to the offers because those rolls were heavenly. I posited this on a Greenville-specific facebook page once, and got hundreds of responses, all of us wondering where/how to get that school system recipe. I neve got it, though.
-
Good morning, all.
This "one" greets you back.
-
I have to report that last night's sleep was very strange.
First, I don't believe I slept a wink. I remember thinking through the night that I didn't feel sleepy and that I should be sleeping.
I think I must have slept lightly, but I don't know. I have been out of bed since 5:30 am. I have had coffee and a muffin, am up-to-date on my meds, and am listening to Morning Joe in the background (Joe went on two major rants this morning, one truly epic about Senator Tommy Tuberville. CALLED HIM A "JACKASS"!! The other on how Joe Biden needs to up his game when he begins campaigning for president by calling out the GOP-presumptive nominee as a rapist, a cheat, a criminal facing prison time and a man who stole nuclear secrets and shared them with folks not remotely cleared to see them. Joe did all of this without his usual stuttering or getting sidetracked. Mika beamed at his ferocity).
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR Jrand73, you should add saxophones to M@7. That oughta liven them up.
-
TOD
I finished my trip through the AIRPORTs - which was actually fun, more fun than it had any right to be, seeing them all together. Until number four, CONCORDE. Oh my dear lord what a stinker. Seriously. A seriously stinking stinker. I had watched it once before, years ago, but had remembered nothing. Well, I was right to have remembered nothing, because nothing is what it is. But I love the original and am entertained enough by ‘75 and ‘77. It was a time, those ‘70s.
Good morning
Got through the first half of the new Sweeney on the treadmill this morning. It was much, much better than I expected it might be. I kind of liked it.
Well, here's a how-de-do: Thirty minutes early; Access-a-Ride has just shown up. I told the driver to wait; I wasn't ready. If I get to City Center before Joshie, then I have to wait outside until he arrives. This is why I detest AAR.
-
GRRRRRRRRRRR......vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
DR singdaw does the new recording have the factory whistle?
-
Rehearsal vibes for MR BK.
-
DR RON PULLIAM maybe the theeder group is looking for a director, suggest a show you might like to do.....they won't get better until better people join them.
-
DR singdaw I just posted that photo on the M@7 Facebook group as the four Gibbs sisters in their high school band.
I expect much mirth and merriment.
-
I am happy to have a day off....I hope you know who - both of them - are looking at their scripts.
-
Good morn, crew!
vixmom, your tale of getting to the show sounded like a particularly harrowing episode of Mission Impossible.
-
I loved DR VIXMOM's story yesterday.....I was on the edge of my seat.
-
Those who do not get off book when they are supposed to be off book are scoundrels.
-
George! Glad you got the goods. I was in fear that the Coffee Crisps would be melted.
-
Box was supposed to arrive on Wednesday, by the way :/
-
Did I miss what show Vixmom was endeavoring to see?
-
I’m no Jimmy Fallon fan, but this exposé on him seems like pretty thin gruel. He sounds like a moody, crappy boss. No excuses for that. But there’s really little specific in the piece. “Nobody had anything nice to say” is not great but vague as heck.
-
DR Jrand72 - so far, no whistle.
Roseate spoonbill in flight.
They don't do anything you've ever heard of. The last one I saw was four men acting at playing golf (only one of whom knew how to actually approach and swing at a pretend ball - and the performance was for the Pine Ridge Country Club, a golfing club!!). A couple of the guys were good enough in their monologues to carry the others. It's a character piece about four men who were in school together, had aspirations, challenges and lives that became very different from what they expected. I enjoyed it but I cringed a lot, too.
I just don't know...ya know?
-
Thanks for your heroic narrative last night, DR vixmom. Glad all turned out well.
Because so many commented on it, I have made my way through the entirety of vixmom's evening exploits.
What a night! But I must say it's tough for me to follow a story that fills two pages in one-sentence posts.
-
I'm up, I'm up - have no idea how much sleep I got - maybe four hours.
Good Morning, Good Muffin to you. DR Vixmom - I loved your story. I hope the concert was great. Not much happening around these parts today. Tonight, I have a rehearsal for a Gala tomorrow night at the theatre company where I've seem to have made my home. We will be announcing next season tomorrow night with musical numbers from the musicals. Today at work is just "another day" - as Paul McCartney and his "other" group "Wings" said back in the 70's
-
From DR Ron:
No. I have shoes I buy from an online specialist shop called Orthofeet that I have been buying from for several years. The orthotics specialist examined one of them and said it was deep enough for the inserts that I will get.
I can, however, go back and order shoes when I need new ones (as long as they are stylish, that is).
LOL, stylish is important.
I am familiar with Orthofeet. To clarify, insurance didn't cover the shoes you purchased from them, but will cover shoes if you purchase a pair from the doctor?
-
Bruce, don't forget to purchase a new spare pair of reading glasses.
-
Jane, that's the plan and soon.
-
From DR Vixmom:
So technology was truly my friend today
Technology and a good support team.
-
Vixmom:
So what started out looking like a disaster turned out well…
I am amazed you made it with time to spare.
-
I'm glad the stress to get there was worth it for a great evening.
-
Funny how Vixdad's forgetfulness saved him from being caught in the Brooklyn mess.
-
WOW, regarding that collection of keychains from DR Rodzinski to DR George.
-
The Coffee Crisp also looks good.
Thankfully I have never experienced a complete shutdown of a train. I have been stopped a good while waiting to move again.
-
The car ride experience I have dealt with. Before GPS I did a number of phone calls while Keith was on the computer reading the directions to me.
-
Last night I decided to stop read Palmares by Gayl Jones. While I was interested in reading the book, I was hesitant when I saw it was an Oprah book club pick. But heck, sometimes I agree with her book picks.
-
I probably would have finished reading the book if I hadn't seen something that said this is the first book in a series.
-
Going back to reviews, I found that readers from Brazil, where the book takes place, are very unhappy with the lack of research and errors in their culture and language :o
Our garage door is being replaced today. Curious how the work is progressing I took our recycling down to the garage. It looks like it will be awhile before they are done.
-
Keith went down early this morning to bring our car up to our guest parking circle.
-
The parking garage is about half empty. It appears a good number of the couples only took one car out of the garage for the day.
-
It is only 63 degrees out. I was hoping it would be warmer.
-
DR RODZINSKI and DR singdaw - scoundrel and cretin are two mild words compared to those I was thinking last night.
-
Yes nice gift for DR GEORGE from DR RODZINSKI.
-
I broke down and bought the Cd for Diana: The Musical. What was I thinking? Was I thinking?
-
DR RON PULLIAM the presentation you have described is not encouraging....
-
Four!
-
Since I can't get to my PEACOCK through my Xfinity Box - I tried to connect through the built in ROKU in my television machine.....and lo and behold.....I can watch it there....
I watched Asteroid City - which I think DR JOHN G mentioned here a few days ago.....I have to watch it again....but it was most entertaining and unusual and self consciously bizarre.
I broke down and bought the Cd for Diana: The Musical. What was I thinking? Was I thinking?
Fun fact: the conductor/music director is Ian Eisendrath and is from Olympia!
-
I knew him when he was a kid and he directed and music directed a production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown when he was in 8th grade!
-
Access-a-Ride to City Center was hell, thanks to an early dimwitted drive, but the ride home was super.
-
I have my first assignment from Joshie, and I had a great time with him today. He played for me his choral arrangement and orchestration for a 15-minute Christmas piece he had arranged. It was quite delightful, and I really liked his choral writing.
-
Listening to Glenn Gould play the collected works of J.S Bach. The app says this will take 16 hours.
Interesting. I have digital downloads of James Kibbie playing the Complete Organ Works of J.S. Bach, and that totals 18 hours and 6 minutes.
The notes were most entertaining.
I love Hollywood stories.
However I don't think I would be interested in watching Chatterbox.
-
OnPATROL LIVE is back on live tonight on REELZ at 9 p.m. so I shall be watching that.
I'd really rather not go to this thing tonight, but I must.
-
The school day went rather quickly. The last part of the day was the Student Council retreat - which went very well. Now to get them to do what we talked about. I'm about ready to leave for rehearsal. Looking forward to seeing my theatre pals and try and make some magic happen.
I am knackered.
What the HELL is this? Page six??? No George? Someone WILL be held accountable.
No posts in two and a half hours.
What?
-
Back from a play, a farce. The problem with farce is you need someone who understands the mechanics of farce. The pace of farce. And that ultimately, in the most farcical situations it's more choreography than blocking.
-
And the every two week computer crash just happened just as I was about to write notes
-
Well, this is pretty cool.
-
Sean Patrick Flahaven in the Cast Album Collectors group on Facebook posted that a studio cast recording of a new show has just been released.
-
The show is called THE BIG TIME and you can find out about the show here:
https://www.thebigtimemusical.com/ (https://www.thebigtimemusical.com/)
-
And BK's close and personal friend Debbie Gravitte is on the recording!
And here's Douglas Cohen's website where there are three demos and videos of a concert version (I guess):
https://douglasjcohen.com/shows/the-big-time/ (https://douglasjcohen.com/shows/the-big-time/)
-
The YouTube videos are from 10 years ago!
-
Who knew that it's been around for that long?
-
Anyway, I'm interested in hearing the whole thing. :)
-
Tonight's rehearsal went really well.
-
We ran act 2 three times.
-
I only have one line in act two, and I yell them to the stage from the audience, so I had it REAL easy!
-
We have no rehearsal this weekend, but will on Monday.
-
Tomorrow, however, will be a busy day!
-
In the morning, I'm going to help my sister and other members of Olympia's chapter of PFLAG set up a table at the Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention (https://www.thurstontalk.com/event/out-of-the-darkness-walk-for-suicide-prevention/).
-
Join us for the largest fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, which raises millions for suicide prevention programs, unites those who have been affected by suicide, and creates communities that are smart about mental health. Join a quarter of a million people from hundreds of cities across all 50 states to raise awareness and funds that will save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. #LetsbetheVoice #Outofthedarkness
HERE (https://supporting.afsp.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.event&eventID=9510) is another link with information.
-
This also has a map of the short walk, which is just around Capitol Lake.
-
It doesn't take very long, but it's for a very good cause.
-
I've helped and even walked in previous years.
-
It's all fairly low key, but definitely worth it.
-
Then tomorrow night, I got the call (well, e-mail) to work concessions for the standup comedy of Tig Notaro (https://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/tig-notaro-hello-again/)!
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
Doug Cohen is, of course, in an episode of Sami, episode two, I believe. I recorded his No Way to Treat a Lady cast recording.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I originally didn't sign up for it because the Hotel Olympian show people had tomorrow as "save the day for rehearsals."
-
I wrote them.
-
And now they can be read.
-
If one so chooses.
-
But then they didn't schedule rehearsal, so I put myself on the backup list.
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
-
I guess I'll enter some fixes for a while.
-
Someone cancelled, and I received an e-mail (and then a text when I didn't answer quickly enough) asking if I could work concessions, and I could!
-
Doug Cohen is, of course, in an episode of Sami, episode two, I believe. I recorded his No Way to Treat a Lady cast recording.
I really like that recording!
-
So, I'm working concessions tomorrow night and will get to see a great show. :)
