And the word of the day is: ATOP!

Good morning, all!
-
I'm expecting Amazon Fresh shortly, which I why I was up at 5:30, When it arrives, I can have breakfast since there is nothing - zip, zilch, nand = in the house to eat.
-
I slept rather well for the first time in days, so I'm very pleased about that. What wasn't so pleasing was Annabelle's decision to throw up a hairball next to where I lay. Yuck.
-
My new air conditioner arrives this morning, so I need to clear some space around the old one for easy access. Groceries and organization, that's my morning.
-
BK, I am sorry to hear about your actor's death. I mist say, though, I'd rather go in my sleep than qny other way.
-
I spent some time yesterday thinking about the A & T audiobook. Rather than have someone read it, I'd prefer to do it as a radio drama with a cast of actors since so much of it is dialogue. I've had some casting thoughts, but I'm keeping mum since I have no idea what the publisher is thinking.

Today would have been John McGlinn's 70th birthday. He was a pain in the ass, a bit of a fraud, a constant irritation, and a dear friend. Life was never dull when working with him, and I was privileged to work on his best recording, the 1988 EMI SHOW BOAT. Take a moment to listen to something he recorded. My favorite remains "Barney O'Flynn, from John's unreleased complete recording of BABES IN TOYLAND.

Here's my wonderful sister-in-law JoAnn with her two sons, my nephews Matt and Tim, Matt's wife and baby (I've only met her once and I cannot remember her name!), and Tim's children, Jayden and Riley. I haven't seen any of them since 2017!

Good morning, friends.

The beginning of a fresh new week!

Very happy that you will have trouble-free A/C again, DR elmore3003.

And a dark, dank, dreary, rainy day it is.
Not stormy, though. Just rainy.

How shocking, that young (yes, young) actor's sudden death.

Someone on Threads, this morning, lost her mind over Morning Joe doing an extended segment on Joe Biden's age and how it is being discussed daily by both parties.
Thank goodness, this lady said, she found another newscaster who didn't mention Biden's age.
What she totally missed in all the age discussion was the repeated references to Trump's malignant narcissism and his ongoing mental incompetence. Morning Joe was using the absence of mental acuity in all that Trump says to contrast with the arguments about steady Joe Biden's age.
Regardless of that age, and an occasional misspeak, nobody has gotten as much done in the oval office as Biden since Bill Clinton's presidency.
And another news item caught my attention: While Kevin McCarthy has launched a baseless investigation into whether to impeach Biden over nothing he's done, it seems McCarthy's brother-in-law has perpetrated a $7.2 million scam by falsely claiming to be partly Native American in his business dealings.

I'm sitting here reading some things, and though I'd totally forgotten the first of my two main dreams early this morning, three distinct fragments have individually popped into my head within the past hour.
One was being back in California and exclaiming to whoever I was with that the smell of California air is the very best. (Location indistinct, but we weren't in the middle of a city...not that that would necessarily have to be a deal breaker.) Another, also in the Golden State, was being driven down a sloping street in San Pedro toward what I guess would be Point Fermin and kind of a sandy and rocky dead end. The third was some musical rehearsal type of setting in which we (whoever "we" was) were listening and following a score and sort of singing along now and then with a recording of...whatever the thing was.
Lawse, is there still more to come??
-
DR Laura did you sleep until 3:30pm or am?

Bruce, how much of your high gas prices is due to gouging vs higher state taxes on gas?
-
Bruce, how much of your high gas prices is due to gouging vs higher state taxes on gas?
All the time I lived in California, the news always said prices were higher because of state emission controls that required oil companies to process gasoline in a more expensive manner.
-
I am interested in the response the governor send Bruce explaining why prices are so high.
-
Yes, taxes are part of it. But gouging is going on and has been since the pandemic ended - trying to make back all they lost when no one was driving. It's outrageous.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe four hours of sleep.

If you use Libby, and use the option to notify you if certain books become available, continue reading.
-
I had five books under the "Smart Tag: Notify Me" if the library gets the book.
-
Today I discovered the library got in four of those books and I never received a notification.
-
I now have one of those books checked out and the other three books on hold.
-
I check my Libby wish list all the time to see if there is a book I want to read or add to my holds list. Today I decided to see if there was a book in my notify books list that I might want to purchase for our trip.
-
Finding a book from a popular author, and one I would have wanted to read for the trip, still wasn't available I searched the title again in Libby before purchasing it elsewhere. To my surprise it was there and I could put a hold on it, which I did.
-
I then checked the rest of my books and found the other three books.
-
Good afternoon.

This morning I walked 2.5 miles to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription and asked if the updated covid shots were available yet. I was surprised to get a "Yes" answer.
So I got the shot, walked home, then drove back to the pharmacy with my immunization card for the pharmacist to sign.
-
Next week I'll get the flu shot. Then I'll be all caught up.

Wow, lucky you. Did you get Pfizer or Moderna?
-
That's great, DR Laura! My appointment is in about a week. On Yom Kippur, actually.
-
Our pharmacy we had to book the covid shots separately as they want to coordinate the covid shots to do one group per vial. They also have Moderna vs Pfizer and we want Pfizer. I need to make an appointment elsewhere for when we return.
-
My first Moderna. The rest were Pfizer.
-
I found the notifications setting on my Libby account and changed the setting for those tagged books. Hopefully this won't happen again.

BK, are you subscribed to the CASTRECL list? There's an inquiry about a Kritzerland order there.

DR CHAS SMITH the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your fragments of dreams indicate that although you enjoyed your time in California, that time seemed to coincide with a drought in your creativity - and that it may also have been the time that you decided firmly to be a leader in your field as opposed to being a follower.

TOD:
Marsha Mason - "Only When I Laugh"
Richard Dreyfuss - "The Competition"
My favorite line from "The Competition" is Lee Remick's:
Andrew! It costs extra to carve "schmuck" on a tombstone, but you would definitely be worth the expense!
:))

I've actually used that in real life...just not to someone named Andrew.

I like Dreyfuss in American Graffiti and Tin Men.
Mason in Goodbye Girl and Blume in Love.

-
Good night, all.
-
Today, I received a couple of packages in the mail from Amazon.
-
Fortunately, I ordered things from Amazon, so I was supposed to get them. ;)
-
One box contained one item.
-
The one item was a box of Rip Van Lemon Wafer Cookies (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B1NKMKS5/):
-
These are really good.
-
I actually have them shipped automatically every three months. :)
-
With the automatic shipping, you get a discount.
-
I also get the Rip Van Chocolate Hazelnut Wafer Cookies (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BBMBZZN) (sorry, Jane):
-
And the Vanilla Rip Van Keto Wafer Cookies (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09SN6XT95):
-
I get one a month, cycling through each of those three flavors.
-
They do have other flavors, but there is such a thing a too much of a good thing.
-
;)
-
So I just get those three.
-
I don't always go through a whole box in a month, but they stay good for quite a while.
-
And I have given some to my friend Shelly.
-
She likes them too, but mostly the lemon flavor.
-
Those are good, but I like all three flavors.
-
A few months ago, I tried the Rip Van AM YUM Strawberry Yogurt (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B88X5TGG/) wafers:
-
They tasted good, but they don't have as much of the cream within the wafers as the square ones.
-
I really like the cream and the other shape has a lot of cream between the wafers.
-
And these strawberry yogurt flavored wafers seem to be no longer available...which is fine.
-
Someday, I might try the square Strawberry Rip Van Keto Wafer Cookies (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BYQMH5TG/):
-
I don't know that I'd add them to the rotation.
-
If I did, I'd update the schedule and have each flavor once every four months.
-
Right now (I'm assuming it's a seasonal flavor ::) ), they do have a Pumpkin Spice (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BYQXR9QB/) wafer:
-
There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. ::)
-
;D
-
So, I'll just stick with the three flavors that I'm getting right now. :)
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
AARRGGHH!!
-
I'm the only one here.
-
Let's see if I can get off BK's dreaded Page Seven.
-
So, the other package that I received contained two items.
-
The first is something that I probably have gotten every year since 2002!
-
At least, I found a stack and the 2002 edition was in it!
-
What it is is the 2024 Futurama Wall Calendar (https://www.amazon.com/dp/0789343339):
-
:D
-
I know that I have some in boxes in my storage unit, and I have some in various places here in my place. ::)
-
But someday, I'd like to get them all together.
-
That would be cool.
-
I love the show and have all the DVDs (unless there have been some new ones recently).
-
I even got the Futurama: The Complete Collection (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029XFNBC/) Bender Head set:
-
I had actually originally gotten it at Costco.
-
I forget how much it was, but after I bought it (but before I opened it), I looked on Amazon, and it was only $107.99 (which came out to $120.40 with tax and shipping).
-
Too late to show up at midnight and think we're getting off this page I do not care for.
-
Most unseemly.
-
It definitely was worth returning to Costco, so I'm pretty sure that Costco's price was higher enough than Amazon's total price.
-
I slaved over very long notes and have to be on page seven?
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
I slaved over very long notes and have to be on page seven?
I'm not finished!
-
200 postings. Pish tosh.
-
Tosh pish.
-
Malarkey.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
And yet...
-
Here we are.
-
On an endless page.
-
If you're not finished, how about more posts?
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
They are long.
-
The other item in my Amazon box with two items was the vinyl record release of Some Like It Hot (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BYVXCGPS), the Original Broadway Cast Recording:
-
New book is revealed.
-
At least we made page eight.
-
Barely.
-
Everyone needs to order three copies of the new book, just because.
-
If I made Venmo an option for the new book would anyone rather that than PayPal? No fees taken on Venmo.
-
I was able to <cough>...procure...<cough> a digital copy of the cast album, so I don't think I'll also get the CD release.
-
I'm looking forward to reading the notes!
-
If I made Venmo an option for the new book would anyone rather that than PayPal? No fees taken on Venmo.
That's a good think.
-
I have a Venmo account.
-
I might try it.
