Well, you've read the notes, the noes were rehearsed, and now it is time for you to post until the rehearsed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EUDEMONIA!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Terrible night of sleep. I felt like Goldilocks. When I slept without the sheet and blanket, it was too cold, and it was too hot when I slipped under the bed clothes. Annabelle slept with me all night, and she's prone to take up most of the bed. Thatch and Stella seemed to be tag-teaming me., first one, then the other.
-
This infernal "The Minstrel, the Jester and I" looks easy and isn't easy. Much of my day will go to that number.
-
I, on the other hand, had a wonderful night's sleep! Wish I could share it with you, Larry!
I was shot last night, and I was in bed by 10 p.m.
I was up at 6:02 a.m. Funny, isn't it, how that works. It's dark at 6 a.m. It's 7:15 a.m. right now and still a bit dark.
I have had my coffee, a muffin, worked my daily puzzles and listened to an hour of Morning Joe.
-
I think, yes THINK, I may drive to Aiken this morning.
No appointments. No. Just thinking about shopping at The Fresh Market, and possibly stopping by Sam's Club. Nothing on my plate except fresh veggies and, perhaps, a few deli delights from Fresh Market.
-
Morning Joe is all about Trump being found guillty of fraud in NYC.
Quelle surprise...non?
M-o-o-n, that spells charlatan. Lawse yes.
DR scrimshaw, do you see that m-o-o-n spells just about everything?
Lawse yes.
-
I thank Stephen King's character Tom Cullen in "The Stand" for the wisdom of "m-o-o-n" and what it spells.
Lawse yes.
-
The day has started, even without daylight.
...and miles to go before I sleep.
Miles to go before I sleep.
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR vixmom. here's a page for you!

-
DR scrimshaw, do you see that m-o-o-n spells just about everything?
Lawse, yes.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Morning Joe is all about Trump being found guillty of fraud in NYC.
The lawse is finally catching up with him, yes?
-
Interesting.
-
Let there be light.
-
Let there be heat.
-
Let there be light AND heat.

Thank you. I’m not sure yet whether I’ll be able to stay for a full week when we do in December . If we do I might be able to see the December 13 performance, if we’re just there for the weekend we won’t have time
-
The #how was phenomenal.
-
But I am very late so more later
-
Good morning, all.
-
I need to get off my bloomin' ARSE and get some more weed trimming and other outdoorsy work done today.
-
I also have to make a run to the supermarket and drugstore for a few things.
-
Yesterday I reacquainted myself with an old friend:
Horehound drops! (Or horehound candy, depending on what each brand calls them.)
Is there anyone who doesn't know what these are? https://bit.ly/45osWql
The flavor is like a combination of honey and root beer and licorice, even though they include none of those. It's just sugar and the herb called horehound (and what a great word, indeed). Someone introduced them to me many years ago and I liked them, but I think the last time I even thought about them or had any was when I picked some up at a Cracker Barrel on some road trip. It's the kind of old-time-y thing they sell. But I saw a small pack a few months ago, picked it up, put it somewhere, and promptly forgot I had them. When I came across it last night I popped a few, and WOW. A flavor sensation, if you ask me. So go on, ask me.

I keep reading today's topic as THE FIRST NUDIE REHEARSAL.
-
My father liked horehound candy.....it always seemed very STRONG tasting to me and I couldn't eat much.
-
Talented alumnus Bruce Kimmel.
-
Dromio.....Dromio.....where for art thou, Dromio?
-
On page two, Juliet.....On page TWO.
-
Went to get some groceries this morning and remembered the three important things, Diet Pepsi, bleach, and cough drops.....
One of those store folks shopping for others was standing in front of one of the refrigerator cases, so I circled around.....and then forgot to get shredded cheese and eggs.
So I shall go back in the morning.
-
A rainy morning...maybe my grass will be less brown.
-
Glad to hear that DR JANE made it home safely.
-
In a bit, when lunch service starts, I shall drive over to Burger King and get a Family Bundle......
-
My oldest brother's knee replacement surgery went well yesterday.
He was up and walking an hour or so after recovery. He might get to come home today.

I think I should like to try horehound.

Perhaps it tastes like pumpkin spice.

Wordle: 2/6
-
Good Morning - nice and sunny here this morning. Today, one dog goes to the groomer and one to the vet for shots. Of course, they are at different times. Leo, the older one, is going to get groomed - I'm hoping he behaves himself as he can be aggressive. I'm thinking if I'm nowhere to be seen, he'll be fine. His aggressive-ness comes from his need to protect me and the little one. When he's alone with others, it seems to be OK. Tonight, I have tickets to see the national tour of Hadestown. I'm seeing it mostly out of FOMO and maybe a little out of curiosity - and maybe a little completeist-ism. LOL.
-
It will be interesting to hear your thoughts, DR Matthew.
-
DR elmore3003, forgive me. I'm sure you've answered this before. But which recordings of Hänsel und Gretel do you prefer?
-
DR Matthew I'm glad you enjoyed your evening with your aunt and uncle.
-
Bruce, good luck finding the best material to use for your upcoming DMV test.
-
I hate when there are questions regarding legal alcohol consumption. Why can't I just state I NEVER drink and drive vs remembering the percentages.
-
I know what Horehound drops are.
-
I have never cared for them.
-
Glad to hear that DR JANE made it home safely.
Thank you.

I've never actually had them, but I think the first time that I'd heard of them was on the original cast recording of Radio Gals (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Radio-Gals-1995-Original-Cast/2632/).
-
If I remember correctly, they do several commercials for Horehound Compound during their radio broadcast.
-
DR George good luck the missing CD is in the box you haven't checked yet.
Thanks, Jane!

Hello from lunch at my desk
-
I have opted once again for the selfsame lunch which I am still finding quite delicious
-
Merrily We Go Along was such fun.
-
We had great seats, 4th row center in the dress circle and the rake was perfect so our view was never obstructed
-
It was basically the same cast and set design we saw ay New York Theatre Workshop last year
-
The sound was perfect, everyone was engaging , and the little boy playing Frank's son was cute as a button.
-
He received a sounding round of applause at his first exit
-
It was a sold out performance, I didn't see a single empty seat, and the audience was enthusiastic but respectful, no woo hooing, singing along , vaping or groping from what I can tell.
-
After tge show Daniel Radcliffe came out and signed programs and took selfies
-
After he was gone Jonathan Groff came out but I had to run to catch the 1220 and didn't wait around, although my friend did.
-
Security announced that Lindsay woukd not be out that evening
-
Also the famous Radioman" was having about and Daniel went over for a hug and a selfies before greeting the fans
-
The orchestra was in a glass room upon the top left corner of the set but after the overture, shades were drawn so they couldn't be seen.
At curtain call the shades were raised again
-
I don't know why I didn't take a picture of the full set, foolish of me.
-
I did take the obligatory playbill in front of the set picture so you might get a glimpse
-
Say cheese!
-
Say cheese!
Love it!
-
Ooh I haven't wordled

Ooops, I didn't notice that I had gotten us to page four.
-
Since I am the person who keeps my book group organized I have been working on that.
-
A member chose Tom Lake by Patchett as our March book.
-
DR John, I know you liked the book. Has anyone else read it?
-
I've read four books by Patchett and had decided not to read this one.
-
Even if I'm not thrilled with the book I expect it will make for a good discussion.
-
Half our team was out today, so the work day was a bit harried, as they say.
-
I'm just wild about harried.
-
DR Jane, on DR John G.'s recommendation I started Tom Lake, but then got distracted by other books. But I'm definitely returning to it; what I've read so far I really loved.
-
I wanted to have Meryl Streep read it to me on the treadmill, but I can't get my wireless earbuds to pair with my Kindle.
-
This recipe promises "dump and bake" chicken parmesan.
-
As easy as 1-2-3!
-
My oldest brother's knee replacement surgery went well yesterday.
He was up and walking an hour or so after recovery. He might get to come home today.
Makes me hurt just reading about it.
-
Had a nice drive to Aiken. Got a riding cart at Sam's Club....it died just as I was putting it away. Lately, it seems the stock of riding carts is in bad shape, and I never see any driving around the store.
I bought four things, FOUR. They were all sensible, too.
Even at The Fresh Market, I shopped sensibly.
i think maybe I must get myself to CostCo in the near future.
-
It has been overcast all day. It's 69 degrees.
Not much color on trees even if the weatherman claims they're turning.
-
I started watching "Torchwood" this afternoon. Have never seen the entire series.
It's well done, if just a bit precious for me.
-
This recipe promises "dump and bake" chicken parmesan.
Parmesan should never be used in any "dump" recipe.
It should be an epicurean addition to a gourmet concoction.
-
I wanted to have Meryl Streep read it to me on the treadmill, but I can't get my wireless earbuds to pair with my Kindle.
So, do you use WhisperSync? I have only just learned of it and have not tried it.
-

Thanks. I don't know how you can put aside a book you are loving ;D

DR Ron Pulliam - lf you mean the built in wifi connection, yes - I use it to upload my new purchases.
-
Leo did great at the groomer. Perfect gentleman. I'm relieved.

I don't use WhisperSync for my older Kindle.
-
I keep the Wi-Fi turned off and download books from the library and Amazon through USB cable.
-
That way the library books never go away. ;)

-
Time for an update on the new computer. Just as I tried to post.
-
Leo did great at the groomer. Perfect gentleman. I'm relieved.
What a handsome fellow Leo is!
-
I have a feeling that that's fairly common with all new computers.
-

This episode of Outer Limits is like a variation on The Manchurian Candidate.
-
Did some laundry tonight.
-
How are you, Ron?
-
Can we get off page five?
-
Onward!
-
Six!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Vibes to Jrand’s brother and birthdays wishes to DS Craig.
-
Bruce, you do know that you can now take the written test online, right? MUCH easier. You can’t fail it. If you answer a question wrong, they explain the right answer and you correct it. You can do the online test ahead of time, too, which I recommend. When I went in for my appointment last May I just had to take the vision test and was out in 30 minutes! Go to the DMV website.
-
Yesterday the podiatrist, today the osteopath. The osteopath was a broken record today, every issue had a “There’s nothing that can be done for it” response. A bit frustrating, but fortunately I know of other ways.
-
TTFN.
-
Thanks to all for the vibes.
My sister Paula and I visited brother Mike in the hospital earlier today. He was in good spirits and I am hoping he get to come home tomorrow.
-
DR MAT Leo is a cutie.....what is the origin of his name?
-
Watching the first episode of the new season of The Amazing Race.....most excellent.
-
Did some laundry tonight.
I need to do laundry...someday. ::)
;)
-
My question for ASK BK DAY - what do you think is the most perfect SCI FI film you have seen?
It doesn't have to be a "classic" just one that checked off all the boxes for you.
-
DR VIXMOM my friend Mark Lee was in the audience last night as well....he posted a few pictures from the theeder.....I shall look again and see if I can see you. He was up in the balcoknee.
-
DR JOHN G I liked The Outer Limits.....but sometimes an hour was just too much.....
The music, opening credits, and narration were all excellent.
-
My favorite episodes were:
The Sixth Finger with David McCallum
The Demon With the Glass Hand
O.B.I.T. - a robot is put on trial for killing his creator - I think that was the title of that one.
And another one about a carnival ride that turned out to be a way for aliens to kidnap a group of earthlings.
-
No O.B.I.T. wasn't the robot one.....my computer is being very slow tonight.
That was I, Robot.
And I can't find the Demon With the Glass Hand - maybe that was a Star Trek episode.
Oh there it is....season two episode five.....written by Harlan Ellison.
-
I’m not going to watch all of season one of Outer Limits. It’s just too much.
-
But since I have never seen the show I will watch maybe 10 episodes. In the third, Robert Culp was straddled with a silly script but a decent idea.
-
Good night, all
-
Well, yesterday, finally cut the TV cord and turned in my DVRs.
-
I no longer have TV, just internet.
-
I really haven't watched much TV in quite a while.
-
The stuff I've mainly been watching (PBS & MSNBC), I can watch online.
-
DR MAT Leo is a cutie.....what is the origin of his name?
He is actually Leopold Pius. I started naming my dogs after Popes when I got DD Ben. (Benedict). JP is John Paul.
-
So, let's talk about "Hadestown" for a minute. Good show, good storytelling, mostly good performances, love having the band on stage great orchestrations, etc.
Where I got bored was the music - Set aside not being able to understand a word In the opening number as "style" took over actual storytelling - but it's one pop song after another. Yes, I know - so is "Joseph" and so is "Jesus Christ Superstar" but I got tired of the all the ballads sounding like they were ripped off of the likes of "Spring Awakening", "Dear Evan Hanson" and even "Hamilton". Do all vocal arrangers use the same handbook when writing their arrangements? The use of 4ths and 9ths is just getting old and boring.
That's all I'm saying about THAT. I do think the storytelling Is great - when you can understand the words.
-
Hello, Matthew.
-
I haven't listened to the entire recording(s) of Hadestown, mostly just individual songs on Sirius XM's On Broadway channel.
-
But from what I remember, I think I agree with you about the sameness of it all.
-
Don't get me wrong, it's good sameness...just a lotta sameness. ::)
-
;)
-
And now...
-
IT'S THE DREADED PAGE SEVEN!! :o
-
So, just a few days ago, I randomly came across this video of "A Weekend in the Country" from A Little Night Music:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h34rw71y8as (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h34rw71y8as)
-
This is the description:
Here's another clip from the 75th Birthday Celebration of the late, great Stephen Sondheim, featuring a stellar grouping (including Judy Kuhn, Rebecca Luker, Michael Cerveris, Michele Pawk, John Dossett and Hugh Panaro) singing "A Weekend in the Country"
-
HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS VIDEO??
-
This has been on YouTube since January 2022, so I was really surprised that I hadn't seen it sooner.
-
Anyway, it's a great performance with great performers all.
-
Also, here are the original youngers from Follies in that same 75th Sondheim concert singing "You're Gonna Love Tomorrow" & "Love Will See Us Through":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDRTSZmGQMI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDRTSZmGQMI)
-
;D
-
This is the description:
This clip, from CHILDREN AND ART, the 75th Birthday celebration for the late, great, Stephen Sondheim, is especially bitter sweet as it features the recently departed Harvey Evans, performing with Kurt Peterson, Marti Rolph and Virginia Sandifur — the Young Buddy, Young Ben, Young Sally and Young Phyllis in the original 1971 production of Follies — re-creating their medley of "You're Gonna Love Tomorrow" and "Love Will See Us Through."
-
Both of those clips were posted on Jan 2, 2022.
-
The poster, gionmusic (https://www.youtube.com/@gionmusic/featured), has some other pretty cool vids.
-
Such as this from Dame Edna Everage: "Losing my Mind":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2yhr9AYap0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2yhr9AYap0)
-
This vid, however, wasn't posted until Apr 22, 2023.
-
Anyway, there are a lot of great musical theater videos.
-
:)
-
And here are Sondheim's lyrics for "Losing My Mind":
-
The sun comes up, I think about you.
-
The coffee cup, I think about you.
-
I want you so, it's like I'm losing my mind.
-
Gratuitous Post #199! ;D
-
The morning ends, I think about you.
-
I talk to friends, and think about you,
-
And do they know, it's like I'm losing my mind.
-
All afternoon, doing every little chore
-
The thought of you stays bright.
-
Sometimes I stand in the middle of the floor
-
Not going left, not going right.
-
I dim the lights, and think about you.
-
Spend sleepless nights, and think about you.
-
You said you loved me, or were you just being kind?
-
Or am I losing my mind?
