Well, you've read the notes, the notes had an unexpected twist, and now it is time for you to post until the unexpected cows come home - they're currently doing the Twist.
-
And the word of the day is: CONFECTION!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night was my first night out after dark since BK was in town shooting Sami. I don't like being out after dark on that walker for several reasons: my night vision's not that good, I worry about being mugged, and I'm a creature of habit and I like to be in bed with the cats and TV by 6:00.
-
So, last night at 5:00 I met my friends Rob Berman, Joshie, Jeremy Clayton, Michael Gildin, Adam Beskind, John Bell, Jason Buell, and Mario Sotero for a birthday celebration at a fantastic Mexican restaurant at 9th Avenue and 53rd Street.
-
Getting there was hell. I booked Access-a-Ride for 4:15, thinking that even if the car were 30 minutes late, I would be there by 5:00. So, at 4:00 I got a texr from AAR saying the ride would arrive in 11 minutes. I locked the apartment and went downstairs to wait. At 4:30 I called AAR, who told me they had cancelled that ride and were looking for a vehicle to pick me up. At 4:45 a sweet young lady in 206 West 82 volunteered to run to the corner and hail a taxi for me. The taxi pulled up, I got into it, and the phone rang. It was an AAR driver, now 35 minutes late who called to tell me he would be there in five minutes.
-
I told him the moment had passed, got to the restaurant by 5:05 and had a womderful evening. The AAR ride back was perfect with a young very kind driver who waited in the car while I safely got into my building. I had two margaritas so I was rather tipsy when I got home. I gave the cats theyr nightly treat and went ro bed.

Jeremy Clayton sent me some finished illustrations for Annabelle & Thatch. I cannot resist showing them. There are Annabelle's best friends, Oyster and Pebble, a gay couple of pigeos:

DR Jeanne is right. In the author's note at the end of the current book (which I just finished last night), Richard Osman says that there will be future Thursday Murder Club books, but that he's going to write something else first.

I shall prolly get the flu shot and Covid shot next week.

When I'm out driving around, I may stop by the doctor's office and see what they say.

That "customer" still makes me mad....maybe he was having a bad day and somebody put ideas into his head.....or he was just taking his frustrations about his life out on Kritzerland.
-
I watched that HBO documentary and it was just as MR BK described in the notes.....as were the personalities of the participants.
I have not seen The Bling Ring and have no plans to.
But I did enjoy the return of This Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Congrats on a wonderful evening, Larry! Glad it ended up being a great night!

TOD:
Hmmm....I might consider alternate dates of no this and no that, but I cannot think of a thing I regularly eat that I would give up.
No, not ice cream.
Not chicken, pork or beef.
Not salmon, cod, or catfish.
Not pot stickers, dumplings or Bao.
Golly. How about shellfish? I will gladly forego eating oysters, clams, and mussels. I don't eat those anyway.
-
I could also give up candy. I could.
I tell myself after every piece I eat.
But that isn't done very often, so...
-
Rodzinski: I do hope things get "sorted out" for the better.
-
Larry: I am very glad you were able to have the big birthday night out with your friends.
-
Bruce: Why not tell us the name of the malcontent who has been plaguing you. We can all send him boo-bombs!!
-
No, I know you would never do that.
-
Ooh! Ooh! Is another billion dollar jackpot in the offing?
Will buy tickets today!!
-
I slept a most excellent night of sleep.
Oddly, I was up at 6:15 a.m.
I made coffee, toasted some English muffins, had them with strawberry preserves, and I watched "Morning Joe".
Around 8:15, I felt a bit sleepy again, so I got back into bed.
I got up at 11:42 a.m
Feel most refreshed.
Almost ready for second breakfast!!
-
Back from Walgreens with a new hole in my arm.
-
I am home from City Center. I have "Normandy" (which I love!) and "The Swamps of Home" to work on.
-
I'm up, I'm up - another five hour night of sleep. I woke up at around eight, I think, mind filled with stuff, mostly 70, Girls, 70 and I came up with something funny for the start of the show. And then the morning became a horror show.
-
So, I have auto pay for about six accounts and they do it via PayPal. Check. If there's not enough money in the PayPal account, they just use the back-up funding source from my bank. Check. Well, this morning I get an e-mail from PayPal saying they declined one of he auto pays - they didn't tell me WHICH or even the amount, just DECLINED. I called them immediately and apparently this change happened a week ago. They said I should have gotten an e-mail about it. Well, I get their updated TOS e-mails four times a month so I don't look at them because they're long and usually unimportant. This should have had a separate e-mail. I railed on about it and the just told me I could transfer cash from the bank - but that takes three to five days and all the auto pays hit on the first three or four days of the new month. So, I immediately had to start calling people and telling them what's happening. PayPal did tell me that they've gotten hundreds upon hundreds of angry calls so I suggested that maybe they should rethink this stupidity.
-
I was told I could add money to the account by going to Rite-Aid with cash. So, I went to the bank and cashed my check, then to Rite-Aid. That was its own ordeal because when you put your card in you get about twenty choices of which thing to use to add the cash - I had to call PayPal again and made her talk to the cashier and it turned out the selection was Green Dot. Well, why don't they put that information on the damn card or even on their site? That's been my entire morning.
-
The declined payment was for Spectrum, so I had to call them, make the payment and set up auto pay all over again.
-
There's more but I'm too tired to even talk about it at this point.
-
Waiting for my person at the publisher to call me.
-
I could also give up candy. I could.
I tell myself after every piece I eat.
But that isn't done very often, so...
Amen.
-
SNAFU un-snafu-ing vibes for BK.
-
I should give up wheat and grain, but that would mean no cookies, no cake, no pie.
-
And I have my pie-orities.
-
I could not give up fruits or vegetables entirely.
-
I could not give up butter or ice cream.
-
I could cut back on meat. But not eliminate it.
-
I should give up wheat and grain, but that would mean no cookies, no cake, no pie.
I feel your pain, John. :-\
-
Oh, my goodness, BK! What an ordeal! :o

From DR Jeanne,
I read that Richard Osman has the first book of a new series coming out next year. The TMC books are being made into movies, which may start production as early as this December, with a release date about a year later. Osman says there will be more TMC books. You can tell he really loves those characters ( as do many of us).
I read younger actors will be casts in the rolls and aged up, meaning we won't have Judi Dench.

From Vixmom:
They have this lovely new returns policy whereby you bring your items to a local Kohls or other participating retailer, show them your return code on your phone , and they take the items, back and return them to Amazon
Great idea, and you might be enticed to shop-very clever.
-
I have not been to a Kohls in years.
-
DR Rodzinski I hope your house call went well.
-
From Rodzinski:
Now my Uncle John is getting hospice treatment at his house. The family gets smaller. John married my dad’s sister. They’ve been sweethearts since they were about 12. No joke. Coincidentally, my mother knew John since 2nd grade. John once had the largest paper route in Hammond, Ind.
I'm sorry. John truly must have been family and not just an in-law.
-
Water came back on in the middle of the night.
Excellent.
-
DR Jeanne is right. In the author's note at the end of the current book (which I just finished last night), Richard Osman says that there will be future Thursday Murder Club books, but that he's going to write something else first.
I had to explore that last week as I had read this would be the last in the series. I think whoever said that misunderstood what Osman had said.

I was wondering how long before this happened.

Good Afternoon. We had a rather eventful afternoon. I recieved a text from PetSmart where I get the dogs groomed and the groomer said she had an opening for JP at 1:00pm. I was originally scheduled for Wednesday at 8:00am, but I took the 1:00pm appointment. School was out at 12:15pm today, so there was time to get home and scoop him up and get him to the groomer. In the meantime, Leo and I went to the dog park - which we never do, and should do more. He ran around until it was time to get JP. JP looks great.
-
What a sweetie.

I’m having dinner late, I put a capon in the oven where it just started to roast. It takes three hours.

Hello cutie. The timing was great, and much better than Leo having to stay there all morning.

James McBride won the Stephen Sondheim Award for composition about 10 years ago. I will have to investigate more of his work. I loved his novel, Deacon King Kong.

Watching Bugsy Malone. I think it’s the first time I have seen it since its original release.

I forgot how good the score is.

The script is not as good as the idea.

Love Bugsy Malone. I even have the London stage cast album which has some additional songs. Like a song for Dandy Dan.

When you have something so generic like a single letter, how can you expect that you're the only one to use it, that NO ONE ELSE is using that, or a simple variation of it?? ::)

So James McBride composes AND writes books?

Cool!
-
I'm just too tired to remain upright.
-
Good night, friends.
-
So James McBride composes AND writes books?
Yes. He does it all.
-
Let’s get off this page.
-
This movie is somewhat predictable.
-
The main character is like a female Sherlock Holmes. Except she can’t immediately see the truth in front of her.
-
Onward!
-
Six!
-
So James McBride composes AND writes books?
Yes. He does it all.
Just like Rupert Holmes!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
What a great birthday celebration Elmore had! Much deserved.
-
The A&T illustrations are lovely. A gentle touch.
-
Vixmom, when you win the billion you will be sharing, right? Personally, I’d be just fine with a cool 10 mil. No need to be greedy. Even here in CA I could buy a house and have a bit left over.

Rodzinski: I do hope things get "sorted out" for the better.
Yes, from me, too.

I should give up wheat and grain, but that would mean no cookies, no cake, no pie.
No pie, but there are quite a few surprisingly good GF options. GF bagels aren’t as good, though.
-

Great idea, and you might be enticed to shop-very clever.
Here, we can take returns to Whole Foods, the UPS store, or a couple other places. Very convenient. No fuss with the packaging, which was always a gotcha.
-
I’m home. Feeling puny. Just slept a couple hours.
Feel better pronto. I’m hearing this from lots of people.

James McBride won the Stephen Sondheim Award for composition about 10 years ago. I will have to investigate more of his work. I loved his novel, Deacon King Kong.
I recently bought one of his novels, but haven’t.’t read it yet. Great interview with him a month or so ago on the PBS NewsHour.

I'm gonna try and be in bed no later than one-thirty. I really need a good night's sleep and I have a Zoom thing with our costume person at 12:30 so I'll have to be up by eleven-thirty.

I don't understand this page six malarkey.

And not very far on page six at that.

Perhaps George will be here sooner than later.

Rather than later than sooner.

Where WAS everyone today?

Was it a holiday?

Was it a day for a band to play?

Was it a Day-O?

Was it a Day by Day? Wouldn't that have been a perfect title for a Doris Day album, yes or no?

Well, just to get some posts, here's "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd":
[A MAN]
Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd
His skin was pale and his eye was odd

He shaved the faces of gentlemen
Who never thereafter were heard of again
-
He trod a path that few have trod
Did Sweeney Todd
The demon barber of Fleet Street
