Well, you've read the notes, the notes were staged, and now it is time for you to post until the staged cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ECSTATIC!
-
I am about to achieve a new, nice round number.
-
Posting-wise.
-
And here it comes.
-
In a mere moment.
-
Voila!
-
And here's the preservation of it!
-
Topic of the Day (in alphabetical order), Part 1:

And finally, Topic of the Day, Part 7:
-
;D
-
I know that there are many, many others, but those are the ones that I could think of.
-
And now, to bed.
Good night, and have a pleasant day today. :)
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Well, the herbal brew worked - to a degree. I fell asleep almost immediately (9:30-ish?) and stayed asleep until 2:30am. After which I couldn't fall asleep again. But I'll take it.
-
Last night, no one matched all six numbers to win the Powerball jackpot. Seven tickets matched all five numbers except for the Powerball - worth $1 million each.
They were purchased in California (two), Texas (two), Colorado, New York, and Pennsylvania.
-
BK, sorry about your losing a cast member.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I was in bed by 8:15 last night, and I believe I am now caught up on sleep.
-
This morning I see my urologist, so I am hoping Access-a-Ride behaves.
-
I have my orthotics appointment in two hours. It should be a breeze as I will have new inserts for my shoes...and a different balance in my walk.
-
I am sorry, DR singdaw, but I had a terrific night's sleep. I slept straight through more than 8 hours. I feel wonderful.

FWIW, the final episode of season 3 of "Only Murders in the Building" is up on Hulu (has been since Tuesday).
This season was a hit-or-miss one for me. Some episodes seemed like they were marking time to fill a season.
Happily, the final three episodes restored the show's quirky enjoyability.
I have read a fourth season has been ordered!
-
Also FWIW: Is anyone else immune to the charms/talent/charisma of Taylor Swift?
She seems totally delightful, and she's a pro-fan performer who doesn't tolerate any messing with fans wanting to see her shows.
Still, I don't connect with her, musically.
-
Joe Scarborough is back on form on "Morning Joe" this morning. He is "yammering", and Mika is not there to put a hand on his arm and gently let him know he's excessively braying.
Good days, bad days...
-
...thank goodness for Willie Geist and Jonathan Lemire, who bring calmness to their segments.
-
I sometimes wonder about the soap box speakers in Hyde Park. Do they ever just start ranting even when no one is there?
No one is here but me. I have a captive audience of one.
And I'm boring myself.
-
TOD:
George has certainly posted many wonderful posters. I would add "On the Twentieth Century" as one of my favorites.
I also love "Mack and Mabel".
-
Good morning, all.

Well, I must needs cancel my appointment. My health concerns say Stay Home.

From DR Singdaw:
Oh, DR Jane - to answer your question, the tests I got in the mail this week have a printed expiration of Jan 2023 - so, Jan 2024.
Thank you. I was hoping they would be later.
-
From DR George:
So, they're good for only THREE months? Really?? :o
Not long. I suppose that is why the cost was so good ;)
-
From DR Rodzinski:
The Belgian Pomme Frites place used to be my go-to place in the East Village. For years. Then someone at a building next door rigged up a gas line illegally and blew up the entire corner it was on, killing a couple people and destroying homes and businesses.
That is very sad.
-
From Singdaw:
I hope that person went to jail.
Yes, if that person was still alive.
-
Quote from: Rodzinski on October 04, 2023, 07:03:50 PM
Who says rye doesn’t toast well? I wryly disagree.
From John: I did. It depends on the rye. A pumpernickel doesn’t toast well.
When someone says rye I immediately think Jewish rye with seeds, and that toasts very well.
-
I think I was an adult before I knew there were other types of rye ;D
-
From John:
I’ve started The Last Devil to Die, the latest Thursday Murder Club mystery.
I really liked it, and didn't want it to end knowing it will be awhile before we meet these people again.
-
I'm up, i'm up - five hours of sleep - have been up since seven-thirty - too much going on in the cranium.
-
But glad I did because amazingly the galley and cover proofs were waiting for me. I gave them all the once-over, sent the cover proofs to Doug, he was happy, and so I approved. That means I'll have test books in a week or two and then I can place the order, so this puppy will be ready to ship as early as the first week of November - depending on the printer, of course. I may put the eBook up now. Thinking about it.
-
Ordered pasta papa for food - delivery by noon.
-
Mold is awful, causes depression and other problems. Vibes to Sharon McKnight.
-
From George:
And then another person commented:
Surprised the vet didn’t ask if there were plug in air fresheners… I’ve heard this reaction multiple times and assumed a vet would too…
That was my reaction.
-
From George:
Another comment:
It's not the diffusers it's what you put in them. A lot of essential oils are extremely harmful to cats and dogs.
I was going to mention this.
-
We have the stick diffusers and I like a couple of scents. I am fine if they are across the room, but when I put the dried up vase next to me to be filled it bothers my allergies.
-
Many of my favorite poster designs have either been shown or mentioned. But from the Golden Age, I'd cite The Most Happy Fella, The Music Man, and of course Li'l Abner. The Funny Girl posted is terrific, too. And Cabaret.
-
Voila!
Congratulations!

That doesn't sound good. I hope everything will be ok.

Bruce I am sorry you lost a cast member.

It seems we have possibly been exposed to covid. If only we could have been vaccinated earlier.

We will test for covid before getting vaccinated tomorrow.

I'm glad I tested yesterday.

The Repor
I and a few others have been dismissed from serving truth, justice, and the American way for another few years.
This was a jury call for a particular case starting on Oct. 25 and estimated to run to around Nov. 8. Before beginning the selection process, the judge asked for anyone who had conflicts during that period to please identify themselves and that would be discussed with each of us alone. As a few others were standing I realized (selfishly) that it could compromise an upcoming musical thing or two, so I stood up, too, knowing I'd have to explain that later when they met with us privately. But I had also been gauging the quality of my vision inside the actual courtroom. Just yesterday my surgeon and I had agreed on Jan. 10 and 24 for the cataract surgeries, and though I get by fine in my normal routine, the particular distances to the attorneys, etc., and in that lighting, was not amenable to reading people's eyes, expressions, and all.....and god forbid there'd be charts or other "exhibits" to look at during a trial. So I was definitely going to discuss that issue with them. As it happened, they excused those of us with the potential conflicts, with no need to justify or explain them, so I am done.

All the ones mentioned are great, but I especially like BK's mention of The Most Happy Fella, The Music Man, and Li'l Abner. That style of poster art communicated something that's rarely seen anymore, about the shows, what they were, and what they had to offer.
In fact, I'd propose a corollary to the question: What are the WORST examples of musical theatre poster art? I'd proceed directly from one of the above, in saying that that horrible bland picture of that little brat blowing the trombone with that deadly new (and apparently forever) Music Man revival font/logo is just about my number one most hated thing. I mutter an oath every time I see it. But along those lines, I'm sure I'd quickly find several other revival designs that are just as much of a death knell on their own shows as that one is for The Music Man.
Another favorite, though, from a totally different theatre world and in a totally different concept: the 1988 Carrie.
-
Good morning - last day of parent/teacher conferences. Flight at 7:50pm What a day!
-
TOD - Cats and Phantom - for their simplicity.
-
The worst posters to me just show the title. David Merrick was partial to this. That dreadful red.
-
Well, if you subscribe to CASTRECL, you now know the name of the LIAR guy. What a diatribe!
-
FOUR
-
That guy is literally URGING everyone to file PayPal disputes!
-
I have responded to the idiot via castrec. With facts. And I have all his insane e-mails that I'd be more than happy to share. Bottom line: On Saturday, after the package had been delivered, he was the LIAR, telling me repeatedly, over and over, that no package had arrived. Well, the USPS is pretty good about proof of delivery. Then he cancels his PayPal dispute because he now knows they know he was lying. And he admits on castrec that he DID get the package on Saturday - do you think this idiot had the courtesy to e-mail and tell me that and APOLOGIZE? Nope, not him. If anyone is on there, do feel free to take him on - that would be great.

Saw the kidney doctor. Five years since the last surgery. No signs of cancer returning.

Hello, everyone.
-
Travel vibes to DR Matthew.

Ron, I hope your new orthotics work out for you. I’ve been wearing custom orthotics for about ten years now and do like them. The first two pair were great from day 1, but my third pair have not. The first time they made them they weren’t right at all. They sent them back and the owner of the lab said he’d make them himself, but he was out of the country. So I waited. And waited. I have them now, but was told I’d have to break them in. Really? We’ll see. They’re certainly not comfortable as they are. They must fit your feet correctly. And I’ve found that not all shoes will take an orthotic equally.
-
I think I was an adult before I knew there were other types of rye ;D
I tried a rye bagel for the first time yesterday. I like rye bread, but don’t think I’d order a rye bagel again.
-
Saw the kidney doctor. Five years since the last surgery. No signs of cancer returning.
GREAT NEWS from John G!
-
DR Rodz, was your concierge doctor able to do all you felt needed to be done? Are you happy with the results?
-
My sometimes cleaning guy, Brian, is getting married in a couple weeks. I won’t be able to attend, but I’d like to send a gift. But what? What might two 30-ish guys need or want? Any ideas?
-
Re the diffusers, due to allergies I cannot use or be around any scented products. There are many very effective cleaning products that are unscented. That wasn’t always the case, but the emphasis on green products has made it much easier for people like me. It’s not just the scent itself — there can be a problem with what they put with it. Why must everything be scented? I always felt that manufacturers thought women wouldn’t buy a product unless it smelled good.
-
TTFN.

The intenet in back.

A bit late for my chat.

Our next door neighbor uses a softener sheet that smells horrible. I have to cover my face when they are drying clothes. Their vent is right next to our door.

Our neighbor above us is also bothered by it.

Our internet problems continue. A neighbor called to talk to Keith about the same issue.

My sometimes cleaning guy, Brian, is getting married in a couple weeks. I won’t be able to attend, but I’d like to send a gift. But what? What might two 30-ish guys need or want? Any ideas?
A few years ago, friends of mine got married and they each, of course, didn't need "things," so I asked what they wanted, and they said experiences.
-
I got them gift cards for some unique local restaurants that they hadn't gone to. They loved it!
-
I just realized that I passed a millstone and didn't notice that!

So here's mine!

;D
-
I just realized that I passed a millstone and didn't notice that!
Congratulations.
-
Last night at dinner, a new restaurant for all of us, I had the Pasta Verdura. As did one of the other couple.
-
She liked it a lot.
-
Keith liked the taste I gave him.
-
Since my stomach has been extra sensitive I had trouble eating the heavy garlic cream sauce and wisely ate very little.
-
The small amount of the leftovers I ate earlier today was enjoyable. I will eat a little each day.
-
My friend had far less to take home. I was impressed that she took her own container to put them in. I should remember to do that.
-
Since I didn't overeat at dinner I had room for the popcorn Keith made when we returned home, plus it got rid of the garlic taste in my mouth.
-
My friend had far less to take home. I was impressed that she took her own container to put them in. I should remember to do that.
That seems inconvenient to me. The restaurants have containers for that purpose, and more and more places that I've been to recently have had compostable containers. But you do you. ;)
-
Sure, but I find a reusable container much better for the environment than one I'll just trash. Of course remembering to take a container is another story ;D
-
I think we are having popcorn again tonight :o
-
'night
-
DR Rodz, was your concierge doctor able to do all you felt needed to be done? Are you happy with the results?
Yes, Jeanne. Was very pleased. Where I live, to find a skilled doc willing to come to the house is a blessing, but she was good even independent of that fact.
-
Great news, John G! May it continue to be good evermore.

My sometimes cleaning guy, Brian, is getting married in a couple weeks. I won’t be able to attend, but I’d like to send a gift. But what? What might two 30-ish guys need or want? Any ideas?
Are they registered anywhere?
If not, are they coffee lovers? Perhaps a French press and a couple of cups?

Ron, I hope your new orthotics work out for you. I’ve been wearing custom orthotics for about ten years now and do like them. The first two pair were great from day 1, but my third pair have not. The first time they made them they weren’t right at all. They sent them back and the owner of the lab said he’d make them himself, but he was out of the country. So I waited. And waited. I have them now, but was told I’d have to break them in. Really? We’ll see. They’re certainly not comfortable as they are. They must fit your feet correctly. And I’ve found that not all shoes will take an orthotic equally.
This is my first time. The lady told me to wear them for an hour today...and two hours tomorrow, but not to exceed that because I might find my feet get sore.
I wore them for several hours today. Just couldn't find a time to remove my shoes. I wasn't on my feet the whole time.
They are quite different. My balance was a bit off...and now, several hours after removing my shoes, my feet feel quite strange.
Time will tell.

Congratulations to Brian. I suggest doing a Google search under registries. If he is there you might find a good suggestion.
Good idea, Jane. I learned that many people share Brian’s name and that Amazon has a registry. I also saw some nice kitchen items that almost anyone could use.

I got them gift cards for some unique local restaurants that they hadn't gone to. They loved it!
I was thinking about the same thing, but they live in an area I know nothing about.

So this guy goes on a message board and still tries to trash BK’s business after getting the package, getting offered a refund when he basically never even had a problem and left a trail of lies his own self? I do hope someone takes him to task.
I once ordered from a guy on eBay. After some time had passed, I opened a query asking for an update on the package. The guy e-mailed me, most distraught, very certain I must have received it since he mailed it two days after I had ordered it. He was incensed that I went through eBay even though i had no idea how to contact him directly.
A day or so later, he sheepishly sent an apology and found that the package he meant to send me had fallen off a table and was behind it. He thought he had mailed it. He then did so, and I was happy to get it.

DR Rodz, was your concierge doctor able to do all you felt needed to be done? Are you happy with the results?
Yes, Jeanne. Was very pleased. Where I live, to find a skilled doc willing to come to the house is a blessing, but she was good even independent of that fact.
I’m glad to hear it. Finding a doctor you are happy with is a great thing.

I hadn’t thought of that. Brian is a Starbucks fan. I’ll give that some thought.

Starting Elvira Madigan, a 1960s Swedish flick from Sweden that I have never seen. The young actress is luminous snd, thanks to Criterion, the print is all color and light.

Great use of the Mozart Piano Concerto 21.

I haven't really wanted to talk about my ENT visit yesterday, because I haven't really sussed out what I think about it.
They gave me a CT scan and another hearing test before I saw the doctor.
The doctor breezed in, did quick check of my record and then asked why i was back so soon. He wanted to see me in six weeks and my visit yesterday was only four weeks. I told him I took what they offered me, and he was quite put out that "they" seem to think they know better than the doctors.
He looked at my CT scan and wasn't heartened by what he saw. My sinuses are somewhat swollen although the polyps have shrunk considerably. He decided he needs a couple of more tests, one of which has to be done by a certified radiologist. He then added, "That test is to rule out a brain tumor."
As amusing as that thought was, the only thing that went through my mind -- and continues to go through my mind -- is Woody Allen in "Hannah and Her Sisters" thinking for certain he has a brain tumor.
I see the doctor again in six weeks and it strikes me as weird that I am going to ponder a "brain tumor" for that long.

But I am fading. Will finish tomorrow.
-
FWIW, I am quite certain I don't have a brain tumor, and I am not given to leaping to conclusions.

So she advised you to break them in. This was the first time I was told that. They may need to make an adjustment. The podiatrist told me that it.s easy for him to do. When. Mine fit correctly I never go without them.

Hugs and vibes, Ron.

There is that. :-\ My friends lived fairly close, so I knew of some places that they might not have gone to.

FWIW, I am quite certain I don't have a brain tumor, and I am not given to leaping to conclusions.
I truly feel that many patients have a good sense of what is wrong with them. Doctors have their checklist to run through, but listening to the patient isn’t on it.
Vibes you are correct and you find what is wrong and are able to correct it.
