Well, you've read the notes, the notes were hallucinogenic, and now it is time for you to post until the hallucinating cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CLISHMACLAVER!
-
Topic of the Day: I rarely remember any dreams, so I have no idea if any are recurring. :-\

Last night and today are Olympia's semi-annual Fall Arts Walk (https://www.artswalkoly.com/):
Olympia Arts Walk is a semi-annual community event celebrating the arts. Since 1990, thousands gather in downtown Olympia in both the Spring and Fall for a festive arts experience that uses creativity to connect and engage. Street Closure Hours: Friday 6-10pm and Saturday noon-6pm. For the full schedule visit the events page at artswalkoly.com/events (https://www.artswalkoly.com/events)

The Washington Center will be open for free so that people can look around the building and see the artwork that's been put up all over the lobby. I'm ushering, so it'll essentially be crowd control...no concessions. It's usually fun just to see everyone walking around and seeing the remodeled Center. Also, I'm sure that a lot of people only want to come in to use the bathroom, which is perfectly fine. My call time is 11:45 am (I'll need to leave real early to find parking!), and I'm scheduled until 5:00. There's an event at the WCPA Black Box in the evening, so I'm sure that we'll need to get everyone out of that side before I leave.
-
It'll definitely be an event!
Have a good day, everyone!
-
Good morning, all!

I slept well. My last dream was strange. I was sharing a house with a large group of friends, and several of us had been away for several days - I do not remember why - and when we returned to the house, several friends had left and the ones remaining, including the dog, had been infected by werewolves. The group I was in was unaware of this. And Annabelle was in the dream. She and the dog had been friendly, but she now avoided him.

I am waiting for an Amazon Fresh delivery. I just got an email saying I was the fifth deliver, so I don't expect it before 7:30.
-
Safe travels, DR vixmom!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Slept pretty well.

Kritzer World is now installed on my Kindle, But I'm still going to re-read the other three books first.

I'm leaving on vacation for the East Coast in a week to visit my mother and aunt, so I expect to have plenty of reading time.

Amazon Fresh arrived at exactly 7:30. The young lady who delivered the goods was wonderful, one of the best. Annabelle and Stella went wild with all the paper bags.Everything is now put away, so I'm very pleased.

I have had the recurring dream where I have to take a test in a class I have missed more than a month of and my chair is behind a massive pillar obstructing my view.
-
I’ve had word-related dreams involving the college newspaper.
-
Lately I’ve been having a recurring dream involving work. I try not to remember it.

Hello, 0 guests.
-
TOD: I recounted a dream earlier this week that has recurred over the years...about me living in a house and discovering new sections of the house that no one seemed to know existed. I do like that motif.
-
Slept so very well. So very well.
Hated to get up...except that once it was plain that sleep would not be in the cards, I could no longer loll in the bed.
-
My hair is way too long. I need a cut. My appointment is in a week. In the meantime, I'm using a hair clip to keep it from flopping over my eyes.
-
It is Saturday, October 7th, 2023.
How we got this far into the year is beyond me.
I have my annual cardiology appointment in four days. Count 'em, four.
-
It's time for coffee. And a raspberry doughnut is awaiting my inspection.
-
My hair is way too long. I need a cut. My appointment is in a week. In the meantime, I'm using a hair clip to keep it from flopping over my eyes.
A sight we should all love to see. Do you do selfies?
I attempted to get an appointment for yesterday but my barber never answered his phone and his mailbox was full. I thought that ominous, but figured he was either taking time off or something bad had happened to him.
I later got a text informing me that he would return off vacation on the 11th and to please call back to make an appointment at that time.
-
Do you do selfies?
I don't perform except at dinner.
-
A Sondheim reference.
-
Good morning, all.

I was reading myself to sleep last night, very interesting book, but as always, I reached the point of realization that I hadn't really absorbed the last several (or who knows how many?) pages because I kept dropping off, and I finally gave it up and settled down to sleep.
Then the weirdness happened. I first had a dream based on some relationship between the book's characters and events that I had literally made up. A couple of hours later in the night I had another dream that seemed to be a continuation of the first, or related to it, but from what little I can recall of it, it wasn't the same at all. It was an entirely made up situation that I don't think I could describe if I tried. And I'm not trying. There was a third one closer to morning, and I *almost* get an image from it, but it's basically gone.
-
And that was my night.
As for the recurring dreams...
At some point a year or two ago I listed right here the several "themes" that repeatedly turn up in my dreams. I should try searching through my posts for it, but I'm lazy. I'll just say that one of the prime repeaters has me waking up in a place I've been, usually for a week, and this is the day it's time for us all to pack up and go home. The "us" is variable, but it's always been some kind of a group thing. And the "thing" is usually something having to do with music, or work (i.e., my former job), and infrequently it has to do with my family as it existed when I was, say, in my teens. As I begin to gather and pack my things, I find I'm actually behind everyone else in being ready to go, and the dream is then all about my getting everything together and catching up. That more or less describes it. There have been an infinite number of variations on it over the years, and I have no idea when I first had one of those. But it's been years.

Kitty cleanup is over. After I make the bed, I'm back to the Mattress score.
-
Yesterday evening I called the local Apple store to make my first ever appointment with a GENIUS. It will be my first ever meeting with a GENIUS, period, so this is kind of exciting. I mean, wouldn't you be a little excited at the prospect of meeting with a GENIUS?
It's time to replace the battery in my MacBook, so I have an appointment for next Thursday morning. I've got to make sure I have a couple of solid backups because I believe they said everything gets wiped, but I'd make sure to have the backups regardless. I trust nothing.
-
I'm also going to have them return this laptop to an earlier OS (probably Catalina, for you Apple folks) which was the last time this now-old (2015) computer was stable and running at its best. That was also the time that the musical application MainStage was most stable and reliable for me. So this MacBook will remain a legacy machine in that respect, which is totally fine with me. That's the reason I got it in the first place. I am not alone in this. Many musicians and other creative types keep their Macs at a specific level that works for them. They take no chances with updates, and the very nice fellow who helped me on the phone miraculously understood every word of what I was saying. They have many customers in my boat, and I'll be taken care of.
-
And then, providing vixmom hits that damned lottery and distributes the winnings fairly, I'll get a brand spanking new up-to-date Mac to play with otherwise.
-
So, it's the weekend, and the rains dutifully arrived yesterday evening. Today is to be a complete washout (though it's supposed to be spotty, and we could get lucky in that regard), and tomorrow I think the rains will be gone but we'll have a major temperature drop.
-
And that's the news.
-
Kitty cleanup is over. After I make the bed, I'm back to the Mattress score.
One of the local performing arts high schools is doing Mattress.

I'm up, I'm up - about six hours of sleep, which is better than four.

So, I'm at the Washington Center ushering at their open house for Olympia's Fall Arts Walk.
-
Also, I am currently masked because when I was at my mom's house last night playing cards, my mom was coughing and complained about a sore throat. :o
-
Well, she had some Covid tests. ::)
-
And she took the test...
-
And she is positive for Covid!

I do that all the time reading at night. Before falling asleep I often continue the story in my mind. Sometimes it leads into dreams, other times not. When I pick the book up again, withing minutes or hours, I need to go back to where my mind left the story vs the actual page.
-
FORTUNATELY, all the other people who play cards didn't come for various reasons.
-
I tested myself this morning and I'm (currently) negative.
-
We'll see how long that lasts.
-
My hair is way too long. I need a cut. My appointment is in a week. In the meantime, I'm using a hair clip to keep it from flopping over my eyes.
I wear clips in my hair at the gym, and other times, to keep it out of my eyes.

Anyway, I feel that I can safely usher while masked since not a lot of people will be coming in to the Center, and I can pretty much stay far enough away from everyone.
-
And she is positive for Covid!
Quick recovery vibes for your mother.

Worth it, as long as we didn't catch covid there-lol

I’m glad they understood. Many websites insist you keep up to date, but sometimes you can’t. When I worked at the Naval Oceans Systems Center we had a lot of “local code,” software that was unique to us. When there was an operating system update NOSC programmers had to modify all the local code to accommodate the changes. It took several months and they never looked forward to it. Not one of my jobs, thankfully.

Chas, the Best Buy here in West LA has had a number of very good sales on MacBooks. Apparently they have a surplus. I imagine that’s true for some of their other locations as well. You might want to check them out. They’re an authorized Apple retailer.

The Closet from Hell. I can relate to that. My linen closet is the to-to for anything that doesn’t have a home and it is fuller than full. It needs to be cleaned out, but I’m afraid that once I take things out I won’t be able to fit them back in. Scary!

Back from what, for me, was a grueling rehearsal, but we got a huge production number done and i think it will be really cute, and a duet done - I was hoping for more but the scene and production number took most of our four hours.

That was a fun journey, about 14 hours of early Keaton. Took a few months but it was well worth every laugh.
-
And now for something completely ridiculous: The Wanderers.
-
Photographic evidence, please.
That isn't YOU!!
-
And now for something completely ridiculous: The Wanderers.
Beware the Ducky Boys!
-
Thanks for the heads up, Rodzinski. The start of the movie is wonderful.
-
Good night, all.
-
My friend Shelly is coming back from her shop and is going to get me some food from Burger King...a.k.a. BK! ;)
-
But, of course, not our very own BK.
-
I won't be able to sit and chat with her because I might be Covidly compromised. :-\
-
Well, I did stay and ate, and Shelly and I did chat. ::)
-
We were somewhat distanced, and I made sure to not breathe in her general direction, so we both felt confident enough to eat and chat.
-
We talked about quite a few things and families and she wants to have a garage/estate sale in two weeks, and things like that...like we do.
-
And now I'm (finally) home. :)
-
And to get some postings in before it's too late (and before BK gets too upset ;) ), here are the lyrics for Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Priest (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I96RZh8108o)," sung by Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou from the original Broadway cast recording.

[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
That's all very well, but what are we going to do about the Italian?
-
[TODD, spoken]
Later on, when it's dark, we'll take him out of the trunk and bury him.
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Well, yes, of course, we could do that. I don't suppose he's got any relatives gonna come poking around looking for him. But you know me, bright ideas just pop into my head and I keep thinking...
-
(sung)
Seems a downright shame
-
[TODD, spoken]
Shame?
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Seems an awful waste...
Such a nice plump frame
Wot's-his-name
Has…
Had…
Has...
Nor it can't be traced
-
PAGE SEVEN SWEENEY TODD DANCE!!

-
Business needs a lift
Debts to be erased
Think of it as thrift
As a gift...
If you get my drift...
No?
Seems an awful waste
-
I mean
With the price of meat what it is
When you get it
If you get it
-
[TODD, spoken]
Ha!
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Good, you got it
-
Take, for instance
Mrs. Mooney and her pie shop
Business never better, using only pussycats and toast
And a pussy's good for maybe six or seven at the most
And I'm sure they can't compare as far as taste...
-
[TODD]
Mrs. Lovett
What a charming notion
Eminently practical
And yet appropriate as always
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Well, it does seem a waste
-
[TODD]
Mrs. Lovett
How I've lived without you all these years
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
It's an idea
-
[TODD]
I'll never know!
How delectable!
Also undetectable
How choice!
How rare!
-
[MRS. LOVETT] (simultaneously)
Think about it
Lots of other gentlemen'll
Soon be coming for a shave
Won't they?
Think of
All them
Pies!
-
[TODD]
For what's the sound of the world out there?
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
What, Mr. Todd, what, Mr. Todd
What is that sound?
-
[TODD]
Those crunching noises pervading the air?
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Yes, Mr. Todd, yes, Mr. Todd
Yes, all around
-
[TODD]
It's man devouring man, my dear—
-
[TODD & MRS. LOVETT]
And who are we to deny it in here?
-
[TODD, spoken]
Ah, these are desperate times, Mrs. Lovett. And desperate measures must be taken.
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Here we are now, hot out of the oven.
-
[TODD, spoken]
What is that?
-
Gratuitous Post #201!! ;D
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
It's priest
Have a little priest
-
[TODD]
Is it really good?
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Sir, it's too good, at least
Then again, they don't commit sins of the flesh
So it's pretty fresh
-
[TODD]
Awful lot of fat
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Only where it sat
-
[TODD]
Haven't you got poet
Or something like that?
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
No, you see the trouble with poet is
How do you know it's
Deceased?
Try the priest
-
[TODD, spoken]
Mm, heavenly. Not as hearty as bishop, perhaps, but then not as bland as curate, either.
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Good for business, too—always leaves you wanting more. Trouble is, we only get it on Sundays...
-
IT'S PAGE EIGHT!!
-
Lawyer's rather nice
-
[TODD]
If it's for a price
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Order something else, though, to follow
Since no one should swallow
It twice
-
[TODD]
Have you any dean?
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
No, but if you're British and loyal
You might enjoy Royal
Marine
Anyway, it's clean
Though of course, it tastes of wherever it's been
-
[TODD]
Is that squire
On the fire?
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Mercy no, sir
Look closer
You'll notice it's grocer
-
[TODD]
Looks thicker
More like vicar
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
No, it has to be grocer—it's green
-
[TODD]
The history of the world, my love
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Save a lot of graves
Do a lot of relatives favors...
-
[TODD]
Is those below serving those up above
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Everybody shaves
So there should be plenty of flavors...
-
[TODD]
How gratifying for once to know—
-
[TODD & MRS. LOVETT]
That those above will serve those down below!
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Now let me see
Ah, we've got tinker
-
[TODD, spoken]
No, no, something pinker
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Tailor?
-
[TODD, spoken]
Paler
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Butler?
-
[TODD, spoken]
Subtler
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Potter?
-
[TODD, spoken]
Hotter
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Locksmith?
-
(sung)
Lovely bit of clerk
-
[TODD]
Maybe for a lark
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Then again, there's sweep
If you want it cheap
And you like it dark
-
Try the financier—
Peak of his career
-
PAGE NINE!!
-
[TODD]
That looks pretty rank
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Well, he drank
It's a bank
Cashier
-
Last one really sold
Wasn't quite so old
-
[TODD]
Have you any beadle?
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Next week, so I'm told
Beadle isn't bad till you smell it
And notice how well it's
Been greased
Stick to priest
-
(spoken)
Now this might be a bit stringy, but then, of course, it's fiddle player.
-
[TODD, spoken]
No, this isn't fiddle player. It's piccolo player.
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
How can you tell?
-
[TODD, spoken]
It's piping hot.
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Then blow on it first!
-
[TODD]
The history of the world, my sweet
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Oh, Mr. Todd, ooh, Mr. Todd
What does it tell?
-
[TODD]
Is who gets eaten, and who gets to eat
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
And, Mr. Todd, too, Mr. Todd
Who gets to sell
-
[TODD]
But fortunately, it's also clear—
-
[TODD & MRS. LOVETT]
That everybody
Goes down well with beer
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
Since marine doesn't appeal to you, how about Rear Admiral?
-
[TODD, spoken]
Too salty. I prefer General.
-
[MRS. LOVETT, spoken]
With or without his privates?
-
With is extra.
-
[TODD, spoken]
What is that?
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
It's fop
Finest in the shop
And we have some shepherd's pie peppered
With actual shepherd
On top
-
And I've just begun
Here's the politician; so oily
It's served with a doily—
Have one?
-
[TODD]
Put it on a bun
Well, you never know if it's going to run
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Try the friar
Fried, it's drier
-
[TODD]
No, the clergy is really
Too coarse and too mealy
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Then actor—
That's compacter
-
[TODD]
Yes, and always arrives overdone
-
I'll come again when you
Have judge on the menu
-
IT'S NOW PAGE TEN!!
-
[TODD]
Have charity towards the world, my pet
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
Yes, yes, I know, my love
-
[TODD]
We'll take the customers that we can get
-
[MRS. LOVETT]
High-born and low, my love
-
[TODD]
We'll not discriminate great from small
-
No, we'll serve anyone
Meaning anyone—
-
[TODD & MRS. LOVETT]
And to anyone
At all!
-
Lyrics (and Music) by Stephen Sondheim.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
Thems is a lotta words!
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And I shall read them.
