Well, you've read the notes, the notes were running rampant, and now it is time for you to post until the running rampant cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ARVO!
-
I wonder how BK selects the word for the day.
-
The rabbit hole I went down last night was re-watching On The Steps Of The Shubert March 11th 2023 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ri3SDi0pdHI). Once I started watching, I just couldn't stop! I also (for the first time) paused the video and read all the tributes that were included. :)
-
And they didn't play it, but they did mention Nancy Walker's performance of "I'm Still Here."
-
Like is the word for a week from next Tuesday already chosen?
-

FYI: I also have the unreleased complete audio recording (as MP3s).

Good morning, friends.

No one matched all six numbers to win the Powerball jackpot. Four tickets matched all five numbers except for the Powerball worth $1 million. They were purchased in California, Indiana, Oregon, and Virginia.

Good morning, all!
-
The alarm rang at 5:40; the cats and I slept in until 6:30. I slept well. Last night was the first night I mourned for Steve Sondheim. I do not remember all of the dream, but it was winter, the streets were wet with slush, and someone handed me a large blue envelope addressed to me. When I opened it inside some store, there was a letter from Steve. I laid my head down on the cashier's counter and wept like a wild thing.
-
I also had a dream about going back to work at the Drama Book Shop.
-
DR Ron Pulliam, the Columbus Day parade in Manhattan has been, since I became aware of it, a celebration of Italian heritage, just as the St Patrick's Day parade celebrates the Irish. In both cases, of course, the Catholic Church element refuses to include any gay members of that heritage.

DR John G, from what program were you watching episode 3?

Good morning, all.

DR John G, from what program were you watching episode 3?
Station Eleven.

Bad night of sleep. Don’t know if the shots played a role in that.
-
I fell asleep halfway through listening to George’s link. What I heard was good.
-
I think I made it to Goddard Lieberson.
-
Must stir.
-
Good morning, all.

Xfinity has been doing work in our neighborhood, so I didn't think anything of it when we didn't have service for a while yesterday. But then? It never came back up. Both internet and TV. We were on the phone with them for an hour last night and they tried everything but nothing worked. Someone will be out tomorrow afternoon, earliest appointment we could get.
I'm on my phone now, which I can't do for long. Back later.
-
Sorry, DR ChasSmith.

Is it Tuesday?
I don't know if I can handle a Tuesday. Monday was good. And Thursday will be more like it. Tuesday is the one day before Wednesday, which in and of itself will be fraught with things I must do.
It's a marking-time Tuesday, then.
Oh, well!
-
I know of Arvo Part, but have never heard anyone say "arvo" apart from Part.
-
Allergy vibes for MR BK - and getting it done....in spite of conflicts vibes as well.
-
Continued vibes for DR singdaw & family.
-
Well I now have an eye exam appointment for next Monday......my Covid-19 Vax appointment is at 12:30 p.m. today.....and the flu shot on Friday at 10 a.m. following my appointment with Dr. Lobo [wolf] my radiologist.
Dr. Lobo is a handsome Latin man who speaks with a very southern accent as he was born and raised in Texas.....it always makes me smile when he talks.
So I am feeling very healthy.
-
I may need to buy a Powerball ticket.

I did not buy the $1 million ticket from Indiana.

Good morning.
-
Taking a short break and checking in.
Ah, a break from what (I hear you ask)?
Catching up on some reading, and I need to go out and do some weed whacking later. I’m putting that part off, but it must get done.

I am aware that in cities with large Italian populations that this has been true. It was always only about Columbus where I was raised.
-
I did not buy the $1 million ticket from Indiana.
Shucks!
-
DR Ron none of my friends has ever said that Columbus Day is actually a day that honors the contributions of all Italian-Americans to America's history. I know without a doubt, had they told me this fact I was ignorant of they would not have dropped me as a friend. ::)
-
From Ron:
I am really concerned that no one seems to be discussing the possibility/probability that Vladimir Putin is behind the Hamas attacks on Israel.
My reason: What better way to deflect U.S. aid to the Ukraine than by supporting the Hamas attack on Israel which will divert funds/weapons to that country.
I have seen this discussed.
-
From Vixmom:
I didn’t realize what was happening in Israel until today
Good. You got to enjoy your short trip without thinking about it.

Bruce, I'm glad Doug was able to get you your allergy pills.

I just received a jury summons for Nov. 6th.
-
I am not expecting to be in town that day, depending if my friend from Israel is still coming here.
-
I'm going online to see if I can fill in the questionarre, and get my medical exemption.
-
TOD: I prefer the traditional beef/lettuce/tomato/cheese/medium hot sauce tacos. i can make them with ingredients found in a supermarket or at Taco Bell. Del Taco tacos were way too greasy for me. Cannot abide fish tacos.

Darn, after I submitted all of my medical reasons I discovered all I had to do was say that I would like to be excused due to age.

Now I can't add it.

I can't find out will I will be listed as exempt.

Charleston adjustment completed, and Phil is very happy with it. I lost an hour on "Normandy," and I hope I can finish it tomorrow.

The last time I had a jury summons, I was able to delay it without any reason, and then when the new date arrived, I did not need to come to the courthouse at all.

I just received a jury summons for Nov. 6th.

The last time I had a jury summons, I was able to delay it without any reason, and then when the new date arrived, I did not need to come to the courthouse at all.
I could do a date extension or a medical one and choose the medical option.
-
I could kick myself for not filling in the age exemption, which I did not see on the form I was filling out.

-
Just saw the news about Lutvak - very sad and a very nice guy.
-
Very sad news.....that was a fun musical
-
Late response to the TOD:
Favorite has to be the Taco Bell Chicken Soft Taco.
At home, I make up the taco meat and add tomatoes, lettuce, cheese. in a bowl and then some Doritos taco chips in a bowl and crunch them all up and I don't have to worry about Taco Shells.
I am aware that I am a Taco Heathen.
-
I don't find vegetarian tocos very often.
-
When I do, I can't say I have a favorite place to eat them.

No popcorn tonight which is fine.

I went to the doctor. My heart was beating abnormally fast. I ended up having an EKG, which was okay, but I have more tests in the future.

That's what I've always said.
-
The shivah service tonight was lovely. There were about 75 in attendance.
-
The rabbi and the cantor were a bit harried, having just arrived from a large event in support of Israel across town.
-
A kind friend provided supper for the family an hour before everyone arrived.
-
Best tacos start with a hot, hand made tortilla, flour or corn. I’m partial to a pork chop taco. You have to eat around the bone. I also like guacamole tacos.
-
We now return you to regular programming.
-
Raw tacos in a cabbage leaf shell are good.
-
Did you hear the one about the traveling salesman?
-
And there’s nothing like a good fish taco.
-
You have to eat around the bone.
Chocolate-covered peanuts. Unshelled. The expensive kind.
-
[a little Hello, Dolly! reference]
-
I'm running out of steam.
-
Only half way through page five.
-
By tomorrow night, the Powerball drawing may be up closer to two billion.
-
Really, too much money for any one person.

Pleasant dreams to all.

If you must dream.

Good night, friends.

They should make it easier for more people to win less money.

They could take that billion and give a million dollars to a thousand people.

THAT would really help a lot of people and definitely help the economy.

Just because I've been reading a lot about the new production on FB, here's "Old Friends"...
-
MARY
Here's to us
-
FRANK
Who's like us?
-
CHARLEY
Damn few.
-
FRANK
Hey, old friend,
Are you okay, old friend?
What do you say, old friend,
Are we or are we unique?
-
Time goes by,
Everything else keeps changing.
You and I,
We get continued next week.
-
Most friends fade
Or they don't make the grade.
New one's are quickly made
And in a pinch, sure, they'll do.
-
But us, old friend,
What's to discuss, old friend?
Here's to us
Who's like us?
Damn few!
-
CHARLEY
So, old friends,
Fill me in slow, old friends
Start from hello, old friends,
I want the when, where and how.
-
Old friends do
Tend to become old habit
Never knew
How much I missed you till now.
-
ALL THREE
Most friends fade
Or they don't make the grade.
New ones are quickly made,
Some of them worth something, too.
But us, old friends
What's to discuss, old friends?
-
FRANK
Tell you something:
Good friends point out your lies,
Whereas old friends live and let live.
-
MARY
Good friends like and advise,
Whereas old friends love and forgive.
-
FRANK
And old friends let you go your own way
-
CHARLEY
Help you find your own way
-
MARY
Let you off when you're wrong
-
FRANK
If you're wrong
-
CHARLEY
When you're wrong
-
MARY
Right or wrong, the point is:
Old friends shouldn't care if you're wrong
-
FRANK
Should, but not for too long
-
CHARLEY
What's too long?
-
The Barbra Streisand thing is pure BS. She's not doing anything with Funny Girl and it's 50th anniversary was several years ago. What she did do is add back stuff to The Way We Were and if Sidney Pollack were alive he'd probably have taken her to task.
-
FRANK
If you're wrong
-
CHARLEY
When you're wrong
-
MARY
The thing is:
Old friends do leave their brands on you,
But old friends shouldn't compete.
-
FRANK
Old friends don't make demands on you
-
CHARLEY
Should make demands on you
-
FRANK
Well, don't make demands you can't meet.
-
CHARLEY
Well, what's the
Point of demands you can meet?
-
MARY
Well, there's a
Time for demands,
Whether you meet them or not
-
PAGE EIGHT (They squabble.) DANCE!!
-
ALL
Hey, old friends,
How do we stay old friends?
Who is to say, old friends,
How an old friendship survives?
-
One day chums
Having a laugh a minute,
One day comes
And they're a part of your lives.
-
New friends pour
Through the revolving door
Maybe there's one that's more.
If you find one, that'll do.
-
But us, old friends,
What's to discuss, old friends?
Here's to us!
Who's like us?
-
Two old friends,
Fewer won't do, old friends
Gotta have two old friends
Helping you balance along:
-
One upbraids you
For your faults and fancies,
One persuades you
That the other one's wrong.
-
Most friends fade
Or they don't make the grade.
New ones are quickly made,
Perfect as long as they're new.
-
But us, old friends,
What's to discuss, old friends?
-
Here's to us!
-
Who's like us?

Damn few!
