Well, you've read the notes, the notes were A.I. (Actually Inane), and now it is time for you to post until the A.I cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LEKKER!
-
Notes investigated. Eaten.
-
AI concerns me because I’m looking for an editorial job and worried that I’ve become obsolete like in that Twilight Zone episode.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night, I could barely stay awake at 6:00. When I finally did go to bed around 9:30, I couldn't get to sleep. I finally passed out some time after midnight.slept well until 5:00 or so when I had to deal with restless Annabelle and Stella. My faithful Thatch has abandoned me.
-
I, too, miss DR TCB.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The fever broke last night, for which I am grateful.
-
Energy level is off, so I will work from home.
-
That's sensible, DR John G.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Fun song, DR George.

Did anyone win Powerball last night, Wednesday, Oct. 11th, 2023?
Yes. According to the California Lottery, one winning ticket matched all six numbers and was sold at the Midway Market & Liquor on Frazier Mountain Park Road in Frazier Park, Calif.

View, Halloo!
I have never wanted to say that, but said it I did.
-
Good morning, all.

Did a lot of prep work yesterday, and now I must get ready to take this MacBook to the
doctor Genius for its battery change.
Pray for that baby!

A.I. - A decent Steven Spielberg film with an amazing John Williams score. That's more than it would have had if Stanley Kubrick had directed it. Cannot imagine what classical pieces Kubrick would have used. Don't care.
A.I. -- I guess it has been in the news so much because college students have tried using a program to write their papers for them. I guess it beats Cliff Notes, but it's typical.
When human thought and expression become so predictable that an artificial program can convincingly/compellingly/completely replicate them, I think we are doomed.
Of course, when the basest human responses lead to beheadings of children and mass killings over political nonsense, I think we are already doomed.
But...there was Hitler and the Third Reich some 80 years or so ago...and their actions seemed unrepeatable.
-
My cardiology visit was a breeze. A strong breeze.
What I thought might be of concern was that my feet tend to swell during the course of a day, and that has been true the past several weeks.
However, given the steroids I was on for two weeks, my cardiologist told me not to worry about it...that it would pass as it is a typical reaction to the massive doses I was taking.
He wants to see me again in one year.
Whew.
-
I have made another appointment this week.
This one is for a haircut...tomorrow morning.
-
That's it. That's all I know.
Time for coffee and coffee cake!
-
Glad for your good medical news, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
Greetings from Danbury Fair Mall
-
Congrats on good medical news for DR Ron, and good health vibes for the rest of us!

Congrats on good medical news for DR Ron, and good health vibes for the rest of us!
Thanks! I could sure use them.

View, Halloo!
I have never wanted to say that, but said it I did.
I say that all the time!!!! :-)

Good Morning - I have returned from my trip across the pond. Actually. I returned on Tuesday, but yesterday, I did nothing - didn[t even turn the computer on - just hung out with the boys, went to TJ's and took the boys to the dog park. Today, I'm ready to join the human race again.
I saw 5 shows in London. I'm planning on writing a blog about my weekend, when it's done, I'll post a link. It really was a fantastic weekend. Happy to be back.
-
So excited to read what DR MATTHEW has to say!
-
Good medical news from DR RON PULLIAM
-
Page Two......not ONE GD number did I have in the PowerBall drawing last night....
NOT ONE GD NUMBER.
-
I am running so late today......but it seems as if HHW is having the same problem.
-
Yes I agree with MR BK's assessment of Rosemary's Baby.....I still watch it now and then.....just to get that "perfect" feeling.
-
And of course to see Clara from Mayberry say: "Hail, Satan."
-
The fever broke last night, for which I am grateful.
Great news, John!
-
I found a nice shirt at the Goodwill to wear to the Trail Talk on November 5......a spiral notebook of 10-stave music paper so I can start working on the OKLAHOMA! choreography.....and a fun shirt to wear to the birthday party for my brother-in-law on Saturday.
-
And we have beautiful weather today.
-
Major miracle vibes for MR BK.
-
Health vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
I enjoyed DR GEORGE's song last night.
-
Glad for your good medical news, DR Ron Pulliam.
Ditto!
-
Today I bought a book about the Titanic at the Goodwill....titled "Unsinkable" by Daniel Allen Butler published in 1998.
I can't remember that I ever read it and I can't tell that I have it on my Titanic shelves....so we shall see.
-
Fun song, DR George.
Thanks, Singdaw! I though so, too. :)
-
I enjoyed DR GEORGE's song last night.
Thanks, Jrand!

Thursday afternoon greetings! We are packing and purging like fiends around here. This morning we took a load of stuff to my AAUW friends who are setting up next month’s holiday bazaar.
-
Feeling better vibes for DR singdaw.
-
Keep up the good work DR GINNY.
My house is next......

I am listening a lot to the 70 Girls 70 cast album.....and I am enjoying reading about MR BK's experience directing it.
-
Well, this video is pretty darned cool:
I sing the ENTIRE orchestra in The Indiana Jones Theme (https://youtu.be/3q6iSaCg3kg?si=2lH1z0kJG8Oa9i4J)

Or this one:
I sing EVERYTHING in Ya Got Trouble from The Music Man (https://youtu.be/yaMQtAmBgrE?si=jZiW1s27i8j8v-bE)

From Vixmom:
The problem is you need a parking permit to park at the train station and we only have one for Vixdad’s car. It’s affixed to the window and recites the plate # so it cannot be switched to another car.

MEGA JOB VIBES FOR DR RODZINSKI!

The fever broke last night, for which I am grateful.
I'm very pleased. Has your racing heart also calmed down?

Good idea.

I agree with this except for one small detail, Hamas isn't political. They want the extermination of all Jews, beginning with those in Israel.

Thursday afternoon greetings! We are packing and purging like fiends around here. This morning we took a load of stuff to my AAUW friends who are setting up next month’s holiday bazaar.
I am sure you are very motivated and driven to get this done.
-
I'm up, I'm up - a bit more than seven hours of sleep - might try for another hour at some point. Congested a bit, but the Claritin is working at least, but I've VERY tired of feeling like this. And every allergy sufferer I know says this has been the worst two weeks in ages.
-
Keep up the good work DR GINNY.
My house is next......
Hmm, do you have something to tell us, DR JRand?

Test books are at the printer. We had a bit of a hiccup - it should have gone last Thursday, but Monday I got a weird e-mail asking me if the cover's title treatment was slightly off-center - it's kind of an optical illusion due to the font, but I'd already approved it because it's the cover Doug designed. The email came from someone on the design team on behalf of the guy who runs that department who I normally deal with. She said he was out of the office unexpectedly, which was a first in over fifteen years of working with him. Anyway, I said it was fine but then got no confirmation. My gal that I deal with was out sick and could not get anyone to respond, take a call, or put me through to someone who'd just confirm and assure me the book was on its way to the printers.
-
I had frustrating attempts on Tuesday, but yesterday I put on my don't mess with me pants and finally the gal who'd written the email left a message explaining everything that had been happening. Before I heard it, someone else on the team finally took the call and she told me the story, too. Turns out, the head guy was in a bad car accident on Friday and is now recuperating in a hospital. They just wanted to be sure about the cover, but had gotten my okay and were proceeding with the process themselves. So, all's well that ends well and I removed my don't mess with me pants.
-
What to eat?
-
Hello
-
It's been a busy day and im.just getting to lunch
-
I did have a coffee in my travel mug ( or sippy cup as we persist on calling them at my house)on the way into the office
-
But I haven't wordled so I will give that a spin.
-
A gracious good Thursday afternoon, to ye gentle folk!
My day has been nondescript, but I have broken down a lot of cardboard and loaded it into the back of my Nissan Rogue for a stop at the recycling center tomorrow when I go to get my haircut.
It's overcast here today. Current temp. is 61 degrees.
-
I also did not have any coffee cake with my morning cup of coffee.
Instead, I had a toasted "everything" bagel...two bags of which I bought at CostCo yesterday.
Funny thing about CostCo: Just like muffins, you cannot buy just ONE package of anything. The price is for TWO, and you cannot just pay that price for one package. You either take both or you get NONE.
Thank goodness I have a freezer!
-
The most important CostCo news was this: Regular gas was $2.75/gallon.
-
I have a consultation scheduled November 14 with a GI specialist in Augusta.
It's time for a colonoscopy, and the VA gave me the option of going to them or to an outside facility. I opted for outside. The hospital is two blocks from the VA, but the parking is much better.
-
Keep up the good work DR GINNY.
My house is next......
Hmm, do you have something to tell us, DR JRand?
He may want you to come and do the same for his house.

TOD continued:
I know that discussion about A.I. seemed to intensify when they used it to complete Carrie Fisher's scenes in one of the "Star Wars" sequel thingies.
And a lot of talk ensued about whether film makers might do that for other films and, inevitably, to replace actors with A.I.
And then the A.I. writing scandal broke (about people using it to write theses and stuff) and the next thing you know, all writers became threatened that A.I. might replace them, and then actors became threatened that their likenesses might be compromised in similar ways.
All I know is, no A.I. program will ever be as contrary as I am...or as unique as all of us.

Looking forward to reading DR Matthew's thoughts. Welcome home!

I had a nice bath, fed the cats their dinner, and I made myself some ravioli. I've had MSNBC on for company, and the horrors and atrocities from from Israel leave me in shock. I haven't posted about any of this because words fail me. On Facebook, the wonderful John Boswell posted this:

This morning we received an email that the garage door was down and they hoped to have the problem resolved shortely.
-
That's it, no suggestions on how we can get out of the garage or if that was even possible.
-
At 9:35am I wrote back and asked and mentioned that we had an important appointment today.
-
I guess the hint was not taken that the information should have been included in the email to begin with.
-
An hour later I received an email that they were working on it and I could get out of the building.
-
She then said "You'll be fine to make it to your appointment."
-
I never told her what time my appointment was ::)

It’s rather Station Eleven.
-

-
I did not wait for a response and went down to the garage to find out if I could open it, which I could.
-
Since it is a new garage we didn't know for sure if we could get it open. The email really should have explained what to do.
-
We did get out and to our appointment for our flu vaccinations.

The ubiquitous every two week computer freeze froze - but did something interesting - it seems to have frozen while I was doing some prep work for tonight's rehearsal, and when I came back to the computer it had somehow restarted itself and I was on my sign-in screen - everything is back up and running. Interesting.
-
Had a patty melt and onion rings for food - from Art's with a 50% off coupon. Patty melt was mediocre and nowhere near as good as Coral Cafe and onion rings were a little gross.
-
A bad patty melt must be a patty meltdown.
-
Onion rings have to be perfectly hot.

But I haven't wordled so I will give that a spin.

Well, our leading lady is too sick to return to the show - other problems have shown up, she even had her doctor write us a note. So, with three weeks to go we're back to square one and bringing a new person in and having to block them into every scene of act one is going to be MADNESS. What I feel we need to do is schedule a separate rehearsal with the full company and have the assistant director, who has the blocking all written down except for stuff we've done since last Thursday (and we have video of all that) and get her blocked in and she can schedule music rehearsals with our pianist - this is a nightmare and it's such a shame because she was doing so well. I have no idea how ready we'll be to open this thing and it could be so good and so much fun.
-
I'm so sorry MR BK......what an ordeal.
I'll just say "people".......
-
DR RON PULLIAM your second guess for the meaning of GD was closer than your other guesses.
-
I have three Titanic shelves including one table top.
-
DR GINNY nothing to say.....DR RON PULLIAM was correct when he guessed that I was just looking for a few more hands.
-
I am reticent about A.I. Oh yes, I am reticent.
I think I wrote here before about my sister Molly's Chat GPT gig - it's an online job.
She asks questions of Chat GTP "robots" and then grades them on how "human" the responses are.
-
Someone in Californ eye aaa won the Power Ball. GD.

Kinda reminds me of the time four years ago that our Emcee in Cabaret had a stroke...on the Friday morning of our second of four weekends.
Fortunately, (1) they were able to save him and fix the problem that led to the stroke, and (2) our director, though he'd never played it, knew the part cold and stepped in that evening and for the rest of the run. That was quite the ride.

I'm glad the story had a good ending.

Hello, everyone.

Glad to hear that John G is on the mend.
Vibes for continued improvement.

Like DR Ginny, I am up to my ears in tossing old papers and such. After my friend and neighbor Zen died the family arrived immediately and began sorting through tons of all sorts. They did a great job, but didn’t have time to get through it all. They gave me four boxes of photos, much of it Hollywood memorabilia. I’d been going through all that, but there was also a storage locker in the carport with many more boxes. About a month ago I told the manager it was slow going. She said something like, “I don’t need the locker right away. Take another couple months.” Then last Monday she notified me that she told the gardener to clear it out on Tuesday. What??!! I negotiated another 2 weeks, but I’ve learned she can’t be trusted. She has a lousy memory and fails to write things down. Granted, nothing I’ve come across in the locker has had any real value, but there’s a lot of thrift store donations. I’m frugal and don’t like to see people toss things that someone could use. God knows there are plenty of people struggling these days.
-
Some good news:
Some of you may recall I have an LA friend who has a Russian friend. RF decided to leave Russia—this was shortly before Ukraine was invaded. Not so easy. Very few countries he could travel to on a Russian passport. He flew to Brazil, where the authorities were very helpful in getting him a visa. He also had to be revaxxed because no one accepts the Sputnik vaccine. He made it to LA and found a job right away. Low wage, but something.

DR Jeanne, good news on the Russian friend.
-
Does the Russian speak English?
-
After investigating his employment options RF decided to join the US Army!! He’s degreed, has a lot of teaching experience, and speaks five languages. He’s been through boot camp and is now headed for Germany and a new life.

Yes. He’s been teaching English as a second language to Russians.

And he’s going to Germany, too. A new life for him as well.

So things are going well for a few people.

Re AI:
Much of what is being called AI is really just ordinary software. AI has great potential, but it must be deployed properly. We all know the errors spellcheck makes. Sloppy AI could be just as laughable. A good friend who is a very accomplished computer scientist and I are on opposing sides of this: he sees the potential, while I acknowledge the potential I don’t have confidence that it will be much better than spellcheck in some instances. I don’t think highly of much of the software being developed today. It often needs more thought into the design and more testing and debugging.
-
I’m looking forward to DR Matthew’s trip report, too. Details, please.

Health and prosperity vibes to all!

No, we just got our Sharon replacement last night and she'll be great - this is the person who was playing the Mildred Natwick role. It looks like we're gonna have to do what I hate doing and split the role between two actresses. That's double the work for me and the rest of the cast, of course. But it seems the only course of action.
-
Good luck with that.
-
Sorry about your casting, BK. It seems like there's been too much of this in the last few shows you've mounted.
-
Good news for several folks from DR Jeanne.

I have returned from a lovely walk.

Wow! That's great about the actor's recovery, and it can be exciting to see a show when someone has to take over...other than the why of someone having to take over.
-
I've never been in a show where that happened, but I've seen shows where someone had taken over at the last minute.

You're always rooting for them, and I've never been disappointed.
-
I guess I should turn off the computer for the night.

That's wonderful! Congrats to RF!
-
After investigating his employment options RF decided to join the US Army!! He’s degreed, has a lot of teaching experience, and speaks five languages. He’s been through boot camp and is now headed for Germany and a new life.
Amazing!
-
AND,
My LA friend just won the lottery! No, not the big Powerball, but a smaller California lottery. He won close to $200,000!
And he’s going to Germany, too. A new life for him as well.
Wow! Congrats all around!

Does the Russian speak English?
Yes. He’s been teaching English as a second language to Russians.
I wish I could speak a second language, let alone five.
Me, too. I never learned another language...not even German (my mom's native language).

No, we just got our Sharon replacement last night and she'll be great - this is the person who was playing the Mildred Natwick role. It looks like we're gonna have to do what I hate doing and split the role between two actresses. That's double the work for me and the rest of the cast, of course. But it seems the only course of action.
That's too bad. :-\

I wish you the best.

Rudolph Isley of the Isley Brothers has died.

I always liked them. They were from Lincoln Heights in Cincinnati.

Shout and It’s Your Thing were my favorites.

Billie Holiday is singing Autumn in New York.

Life is good.

It’s good to live it again.

We’ve got a few more posts to get through

At least before we get off this luscious, promise-filled page.

Now it’s the Nat man and Walking My Baby Back Home.

I first heard the song on an episode of Columbo.
-
Ida Lupino was a former star with Alzheimer’s who didn’t remember she’d committed murder.
-
Perhaps my favorite episode of that great series.

I’m ushering for the ballet tomorrow. Beauty and the Beast.
Enjoy!

Good night, all.
Good night, John.

Back from rehearsal. Just running stuff and putting our new leading lady in two of them. Boom Ditty Boom - I finished it up and it truly makes me laugh visually - Blake Edwards to the max.
-
Our new half a leading lady was our original choice for the role, so she'll be lots o' fun.
-
I am reticent about A.I. Oh yes, I am reticent.
I think I wrote here before about my sister Molly's Chat GPT gig - it's an online job.
She asks questions of Chat GTP "robots" and then grades them on how "human" the responses are.
She’s aiding the enemy!!
PS let me know if they’re hiring :)

That's great! Wish it could be filmed!

DR Rodzinski, how is the job search going?
It’s a little like when I first moved to NYC, facing resumes digitally to hither and yon, but mostly into a non-responsive void. Interesting gig came up to be in charge of editing for a funeral industry publication. Dying to hear back from them… But seriously folks, they did peer at my online profile so I found the hiring person and sent a personal note, so we’ll see if the ghouls at least write me back.
-
I always liked them. They were from Lincoln Heights in Cincinnati.
So many great soul bands from Ohio.
-
What an adventure the scheduling and casting has been for 70 Girls. Hell, BK will take any 2 healthy girls.
-
Just before I left NYC the first time, a friend wanted me to direct a musical political satire he’d written. It was kinda cute, so I said ok. The difficulty of finding a cast and then all the conflicts gave me such a headache and my son was just born and it was too stressful, I had to beg off. We ended up moving to Delaware shortly thereafter, so it was all for the best.
But yeah, it’s hard putting a show together, man.
-
I remember people agreeing to do the show and you’d get these calls where you could kind of tell they were going to quit, but first it was presented as conflicts and you’d offer to work around it, but they really just wanted out, so they’re stringing you along. The few committed cast members are wondering what’s up. And so on.
-
I admire JRand’s ability to pull together show after show in quick succession.
-
I’m rambling…
Hello George!

I’m rambling…
Hello George!
Hello, Rodzinski.

And rambling is quite acceptable!

I'm watching some The Meidas Touch (https://m.youtube.com/@MeidasTouch) vids on YouTube.

Quite interesting...all of them!

If you’ve ever loved a cat then you understand Rod McKuen’s A Cat Named Sloopy.

Once was a time,
in New York’s jungle in a tree,
before I went into the world
in search of other kinds of love
nobody owned me but a cat named Sloopy.
Looking back
perhaps she’s been
the only human thing
that ever gave back love to me.
-
Such a great ending.
