Well, you've read the notes, the notes snacked a little and noted a little, and now it is time for you to post until the snacking cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IRASCIBLE!
-
Good morning, all!

Last night Stella usurped Thatch's sleeping spot on my bed, and she stayed with me most of the night.Luckily, she was very trlaxed and affectionate. Earlier, after my bath, she was quite annoying, biting my forehead and trying to eat my hair. She's a sweet cat, but I think she's several sandwiches short a picnic.
-
This morning, I see my urologist, and I think this might be our last appointment for the prostate cancer. After that visit, I will head to my pharmacy to pick up my monthly meds.
-
I've often thought about yesterday's TOD:
1. 1985, what if the Jubilee reconstruction brought me a ton of film and theatre work? Well, it didn't.
2. 1990, what if the Houston Grand Opera production of Babes in Toyland were such a hit and I could live off the income every year? Well, we lost a Great Performances broadcast due to the conductor's schedule and HGO never revived it.
If either of those had occur.red, I most likely would not be sitting here typing this
-
DR Rodzinsaki, I've got my fingers crossed for your interview yesterday.
-
Good morning
-
Yesterday I had my annual oncologist appointment where I received the all clear for another year
-
Then I ran to work where it was crazy busy so I worked through lunch
-
Then I came home and Vixdad and I went to the roadhouse for dinner as a small anniversary celebration
-
(We’ll celebrate more extravagantly with the kids next week)
-
Oddly, the Roadhouse only had one single non alcoholic beer on hand so I let Vixdad have it
-
He encouraged me to try the cowboy margarita
-
I was asleep by 9
-
Never Wordled so broke my streak again
-
Guess I’ll do it now

Good morning, all.
-
Still tired.
-
My doctor's office called: reschedule today's appointment.
-
Good morning, all.
-
An okay sleep, don't remember the dreams. Enjoying kind of a lazy start.

Yesterday afternoon while relaxing after the Inquisition, I watched two Lugosi/Karloff movies I hadn't seen in many years: The Black Cat (1934) and The Raven (1935).
I'd forgotten almost everything about these, and I know I never much appreciated them in my youth. Well, now I love them. What bizarre, incredible styles, with scripts and acting to match. And is this Lugosi at the top of his game, or what? I'll watch the extras and listen to the commentaries to learn more about these. Bizarre, yes, and highly enjoyable.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Not much doing here, which is fine with me.
-
Having completed my re-read of the trilogy, on to BK's latest.
-
Two!
-
I left a message at the car place....we shall see what happens.

We decided to attend the Dracula play on its opening night Friday. This is at our tiniest area theeder and I'm looking forward to it.

From DR Rodzinski:
Had my online interview to edit Cemetery and Cremation monthly. It started rocky because I never got the “Teams” invite to the call. So I sent a reminder to the publisher. Didn’t hear anything. Thought they ghosted me! She then got in touch very apologetic. She’d mistyped my email.
So I scramble to log on to Teams. It wasn’t picking up my camera! Monkeyed around and the result of all this was I was actually very relaxed for the interview. Think I nailed it. But I gotta get them to go up on pay. A second round with more staff awaits…
What a relief the interview went well after that rocky start.

YAY!
-
DR Vixmom I can't think of a better anniversary gift for you and Vixdad.
-
Then I came home and Vixdad and I went to the roadhouse for dinner as a small anniversary celebration
I thought you might do something that you both enjoy.
-
(We’ll celebrate more extravagantly with the kids next week)
I think you had a very nice celebration, plus you have an exciting one to look forward to.
-
Oddly, the Roadhouse only had one single non alcoholic beer on hand so I let Vixdad have it
While that was nice of you, were you actually planning to have one?
-
He encouraged me to try the cowboy margarita
Did you like it?

DR George today you just might break my long held record of being the highest poster after Bruce.

I will watch for the photo :)

George, Angus and Malcom Young were the main guys in Aussie rock band AC/DC. They do have a song called “Anything Goes” but it’s not the same song. So a bit of an internet goof there, albeit an amusing one.
-
Thank you all for the kind vibes. I have to do a short writing exercise for them as a test of my skills.

Good morning.

Yesterday I received the Prevnar 20 immunization.
I had a weird dream early this morning where I was undergoing some type of medical procedure, and all the doctors and med students kept coming in to look at my levels on the medical machines. I could tell that someone said that it was really odd and they had to go look at it. They kept asking me if I was SURE I hadn't had any alcohol recently. I had not.
When I woke up, I had a bad headache and I ached all over.
-
I was exposed to someone who has covid on Saturday. I tested myself yesterday and it was negative. I thought I'd look up the side effects to the Prevnar 20 vaccine, and I pretty much have them all.
-
I'll be fine tomorrow.

Having heard of the side effects we planned our vaccination when we didn't have any plans.

Great review from DR CHAS SMITH.
I have marked it HELPFUL!

When I didn't hear back from Luxury Auto.....I did a Googlie search and called a garage about 2 miles from my house and the man said "Bring it on over."
My sister texted me a few minutes before noon that she was on her way.....and at that moment Hernan from Luxury called. They were booked and he was going to try to fit me in.
I told him I had booked a place closer - he said if it didn't work out to give him a call.
Well....I had the address wrong, but after a few minutes - we got back to Creekside Auto.
And as I got out I realized my right front tire was about half flat....which probably accounted for the noises and difficulties I noticed on Saturday night - in the dark.
I left my keys and the man said he would check everything out.....but I told him it was probably the tire.
-
He called me back and said brakes and bearings and everything are FINE. Did I want him to get a tire and put it on......
Uhhhh.......yes.....
Not sure how much it all will be, but my guess is LESS than a wheel bearing and or brakes.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Are you a fan of any particular professional sport - do you watch any of the 'games' on television?
-

I'm glad it all worked out and you got the fix sooner than later.

Hello, everyone.

I am indulging in a little ChocZero. At Halloween they have little chocolates in the shape of pumpkins. They are sooo cute!

Halloween seems like an excellent time to obtain a mortuary writing job. Do they allow a little humor? Black humor.

I had a very irritating experience earlier. I needed to place an order with an online retailer who I’ve used for many years. The first thing I noticed is they have a new website. The home page is all advertising for various products they sell. No place to log in. I click on something and get a page that says, “Hello, undisclosed. Welcome to your account.” NOWHERE can I find a place to login or create a new account. And, of course, they don’t have any of my account data, such as favorites. I try to call customer service. Long wait. I manage to hack into it and create a new password. Password rules have changed. I input my order. But it tells me it can’t place my order. I call CS again. She’s able to place it, but is snippy and says that the new website was just released last week, as if It’s not supposed to work right at first.
Arrrrggghhhhhh!!!!
And silly me, expecting her to be bright, knowledgeable, and courteous. When will I ever learn?
-
I was never a hacker. I had a coworker at HP who had a mischievous streak and would tell me how much our various managers made and who got a really big raise. But today’s software is often so poor, so full of bugs that I now resort to it just to get the job done.
I will give Amazon credit here, though. I seldom find bugs there and they are fixed quickly. Thank you, Amazon!
-
Car vibes to Jrand. I hope you like the new repair place, too.
-
Congrats to Vixmom on her stellar health report.
-
PBS has brought back an old favorite of mine, the Dutch series Lord and Master. Don’t know why they named it that, but it’s a really fun show, a throwback to 1960s caper films. It’s listed under Walter Presents.

My question for ASK BK DAY:
Are you a fan of any particular professional sport - do you watch any of the 'games' on television?
Not really. In days of old, wrestling was a great entertainment but not really a sport. Hate football, don't care about baseball, loathe hockey - if figure skating is a sport, I do enjoy that occasionally.
-
Guess I'll shower and get ready in about twenty minutes, then relax until I have to leave around 6:10.
-
Good medical news from DR vixmom!!!

What a gorgeous day today. Walked the beach in shorts.

If service has been good in the past you should expect the same.

One friend graduated Hami with Bruce.

Funny, I have know this friend since 1969 and she knows that I am friends with Bruce.
-
Until today she didn't realize my history with Bruce and was rather surprised ;D

Who's the friend?

Renee but you called her Mouse. I don't think you remember her. Short, super cute, quiet and shy.

Happy Wednesday, all.
I had a miserable early morning.
Wasn't feeling too spiffy when I retired last night eat 10:30. I thought I might be coming down with a cold.
Around 3 a.m., I woke up and was very weak. I got out of bed, went to the bathroom and then sat on the edge of my bed for about 12 minutes. I couldn't decide if getting back intp bed was workable with the way I felt.
A year or so ago, I had a very hellacious Saturday. Went to bed on a Friday night and had no idea that the worst day of my life was about to begin. It started very early, too. I was so sick I couldn't get around without holding onto walls, door jambs and furniture. Suffice it to say I had stuff roiling around inside of me that was determined to find an exit, and it took no prisoners. I spent much of that day in bed and finally started recovering sufficiently to get up and move to a chair in the late afternoon. My recovery was progressive after that and by Monday, my malady was merely an ugly memory.
I tell you all of that because that is what I feared this morning. I decided I would not get back into bed. It was all I could do to get myself into the den, wrap myself in a blanket and sit up. After six hours wrapped up and sleeping my chair, I felt much better, but I must say the day was not without consequence, delicately speaking.
By late afternoon, i discovered that I was rather hungry, and so began my road to recovery. It was nothing like a year ago, but it scared me. I have to wonder if it was, perhaps, food poisoning (since my GI functions were so pronounced, but I only had a Tovala meal for lunch yesterday afternoon. Sadly, it was a two-fer meal...two portions, one of which remains in the refrigerator and will be tossed out without a care tomorrow.
Sigh.
Otherwise, the day yielded zero surprises, zero insights and zero introspection.
-
I now bid you all adieu. Pleasant dreams.
Nighty night!

Page six? Again? Really?
-
~~~FEEL-BETTER-QUICKLY VIBES FOR RON!!~~~
-
Back from rehearsal and having an In 'N' Out burger.
I've never had one.
-
They're not around my neck of the woods, at all.
-
I've had the frozen White Castle burgers, but not an In 'N' Out burger.
-
Tonight, I went to my mom's house.
-
I was going to help her take another Covid test.
-
It turns out that she took one herself on Monday and was negative.
-
Whew!
-
In one of the Facebook musicals group, there was a discussion on the songs from Dick Tracy, and people posted THIS video of Judy Kuhn singing it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=519p-Ei6vHY). :)
-
I'd actually forgotten that she also sang it on BK's very own "Unsung Sondheim (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIUUhTxGvuo)" album lo these many years ago.
-
Anyway, here are the lyrics:
-
What can you lose?
-
Only the blues
-
Why keep concealing everything you're feeling?
-
Say it to her, what can you lose?
-
Maybe it shows
-
She's had clues, which she chose to ignore
-
Maybe though she knows
-
And just wants to go on as before
-
As a friend, nothing more
-
So she closes the door
-
And now...
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
To continue...
-
Well, if she does
-
Those are the dues
-
Once the words are spoken
-
Something may be broken
-
Still, you love her
-
What can you lose?
-
But what if she goes?
-
At least now, you have part of her
-
What if she had to choose?
-
Leave it alone
-
Hold it all in
-
Better a bone
-
Don't even begin
-
With so much to win
-
There's too much to lose.
-
Lyrics (and Music) by Stephen Sondheim. :)
-
I always thought that "What Can You Lose?" would make a really good put-together with "Good Thing Going (https://youtu.be/xhQ0VGLmfAU?si=e5vHUNrEXFHXXDs9&t=15)" from Merrily We Roll Along...so here are those lyrics!
-
It started out like a song,
-
We started quiet and slow with no surprise,
-
Then one morning I woke to realize
-
We had a good thing going.
-
It's not that nothing went wrong,
-
Some angry moment of course, but just a few,
-
And only moments no more because we knew
-
We had a good thing going.
-
And if I wanted too much
-
Was that such a mistake at the time?
-
You never wanted enough—All right, tough I don't make that a crime
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
-
And while it's going along
-
You take for granted some love will wear away
-
We took for granted a lot but still I say:
-
It could have kept on growing
-
Instead of just kept on
-
We had a good thing going
-
Going
-
Gone.
-
Lyrics (and Music) by Stephen Sondheim. :)
-
I believe the Guy Haines version of What Can You Lose is definitive, especially with elmore's delicious orchestration.
-
Not sure if it's on You Tube.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
