Well, you've read the notes, the notes did do and did not die, and now it is time for you to post until the do or die cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BURNISH!
-
That's sad about Kay Cole not being able to continue with the show, but she has to do what's right for her and in situations like that, it's says a lot about people who are supportive of those kinds of decisions that people have to make. They certainly aren't easy for anyone.
-
Topic of the Day: I don't remember when I first had McDonald's. I was too young. My "favorite" things have changed over the years, and sometimes they can change very quickly. For a long time, it was the Filet-O-Fish, but now it's changed to the Big Mac.
-
One thing that helps that is that I have a discount card sold by a local high school which offers discounts from various local (and not-so-local) business. The Tumwater McDonald's deal is a free Big Mac with the purchase of a Big Mac. That's a pretty good deal! And the best thing about McDonald's in general is that all sizes of their sodas are one price! :D
-
TOD:
I have loved McDonald's since I visited my first one in my hometown in the early 1960s. McDonalds actually took over a business called Burger Chef, and the pricing was very much the same.
My favorite is the quarter pounder. When done correctly, it is heaven. When done badly, it is rank and foul and loathsome.
Management of a particular McDonald's is the decider in how the burgers and other delights turn out. Happily, the nearest McDonald's to me is absolutely wonderful. No meal has ever been less than fresh and tasty.
We also had a Burger King at one time. Burger King Whoppers are my weakness. I love them, plus the Burger King fries are unlike the fries of other fast food jernts.
However, the first and last time I visited the former Burger King in nearby Edgefield, I used the drive-through and brought my whopper and fries home. The whopper was hideously inedible. First, I reckoned it had been made a day or two earlier and was simply reheated. Everything seemed compressed. The fries were middling.
Had I eaten at the location, I'd have raised holy hell about it. As it was, I knew I would never be returning.
When that Burger King ultimately closed, the FB comments told me the whole story. The so-called manager was a drug addict. On-site training was virtually non-existent. Nothing was ever prepared fresh. It closed because no one would go there.
Everything depends upon who runs any particular restaurant.

Happy Saturday, you all.
Today is Saturn's day. That's right, the day of the planet Saturn.
Blame the Romans.
-
Bruce: I know that Ms. Cole's departure has caused you quite a bit of grief, but you seem to have handled it wonderfully.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Good morning, Romans.
-
Good morning, countrypersons.
-
You may take your pick.
-
BK, sorry about Kay.
~~~MICKEY & JUDY VIBES~~~ for you and the entire Company
-
TOD: I haven't eaten at McDonald's in quite a while. But i used to be partial to their sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit.
-
I believe during the pandemic, many stores started offering the breakfast items all day.
-
I don't know if they still do.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good news about 70 Girls 70!
-
I slept okay. I had dreams, none of which I now remember.
-
Last night I continued with The Crown, Season 3. I watched Seasons 1 & 2 several months ago, and I wanted a break before I continued to get the original casting out of my head. I'll do the same when I get through Season 4.
-
This morning, I need to drag out the vacuum cleaner and sweep the floor. My surrogate son Jason is coming by at noon to help me with some computer assistance.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Most excellent xylophones and vibes for BK and company!
-
Ditty ditty boom.
-
I was maybe seven or eight when I went to McDonald’s for the first time. It was not the type of place my parents liked to eat out at then.
I didn’t like it.
-
I grew to like it later. I even worked there one summer in college.
-
Notes sliced. Diced.
-
Today, I will eat there occasionally. I love their hash browns, the French fries and, when they off them, the buttermilk chicken tenders. And they have pretty good coffee.
-
The Show Must Go On!!
Skillfully handled, BK!
-
My folks started eating there later in life when they started getting coupons and a senior discount.
-
Two!
-
Good morning, Rodzinski.
-
You’re up early.
-
Before Happy Meal days, I’d get “Hamburger, ketchup only; small fries and an orange drink.” If I was lucky, I’d get McDonaldland cookies.
-
Good morn! Yeah been waking up too early the last few days. Daughter creeps into bed each night and then I can’t get back to sleep.
-
Burger Chef was our most beloved restaurant as kids. They had a kids meal that came in a fun box with toys and a lollipop.
-
I went almost 15 years without eating McDonalds. Self-imposed ban because I loved their fries too dearly. One day I said if I could throw away this half-eaten fries, I’d never eat there again. And it worked. Because if I ate there again I’d have wasted food, which I hate doing.
Then I had kids and it when we moved back to NY in 2019, the Park Slope McD’s was just too easy to take my kids to. Especially once Covid hit.
-
Now, the nearest McD’s to me is in Canada and it is SO good. One of the best burgers ever. I recently removed fries from my life again. Part of why I’ve lost nearly 20 lbs since the Alaskan cruise.
-
Good going, DR Rodzinski.
-
:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
Some productions seem to be cursed with annoyances and setbacks. Congrats to BK on finding the solutions and keeping the show going.
-
Last night’s Spelling Bee was fun, and it was good to meet up with friends I hadn’t seen in a while.
-
Let’s see. Doing the math, I have a roughly 63-year ongoing relationship with McDonald’s - which is a little frightening - and I clearly remember the first time and place. It would have been in the very late 1950s - I want to say 1959 - when my dad took us to this new sensation that had just opened on E. Broad St. in Whitehall, on the east side of Columbus. It was just the simple hamburgers and cheeseburgers then, and the fries which were especially astounding, but the excitement was also about the new fast food concept. There seemed to be stacks and stacks of those items seen through the windows, hot and fresh, ready to pack into bags, and the new tastes were seductive and addicting.
-
Congrats to MR BK - Hit It, Lorraine.
And of course tonight is an eclipse full moon in Taurus - which is the perfect time for building up that which has been torn down and repairing that which as been broken.
-
I loved the Edison pictures from DR VIXMOM yesterday.
-
Today my sisters Myrna & Molly & I will be at the Pathway To Crystals, the metaphysical store in town where Molly works - for a Read-A-Thon from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
I think DR RODZINSKI and DR GINNY and her family were both guests at the World of Wisdom, the store that Myrna owned before the inner web made brick & mortar bookstores a thing of the past.
-
These days I’ve cut way back on how often I eat McDonald’s, which is good because there were times when it was out of control. I am most vulnerable or susceptible to it when involved in a show with many rehearsals. The convenience, the pretty consistent deliciousness of the items I like, and its “car food” convenience (just certain items) are a blessing and a curse.
-
I don't believe I've met Rhoda Thon.
-
The snow here is not expected until later this afternoon.
-
TOD: I haven't eaten at McDonald's in quite a while. But i used to be partial to their sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit.
I really like the Sausage McMuffin with Egg, and their sausage burritos. Yum!
-
The snow here is not expected until later this afternoon.
Yikes! According to my weather app, it's 27°F here in Tumwater right now! :o
-
Good thing I put new house boobs on my outside faucets just yesterday!
-
;D
-
I believe during the pandemic, many stores started offering the breakfast items all day.
I don't know if they still do.
McDonald's did for a while, and I was a big fan, but they stopped that either last year or the year before...at least, around here.
Happy Saturday! What had looked like a day for chores and stuff like that, has turned into mostly doing a favor for a pal - he asked me to play piano for an orchestra read-through of Shrek. Now, I can not STAND this show. Part of the resason is that I just don't like Shrek in any form - animation or musical. Another reason is that's the show I Musical Directed during COVID, so I basically lived it in my house and in front of the computer for many vocal rehearsals and finally creating music tracks with vocals for the video. Never again, I said. Well here we are....
TOD: I try to avoid Fast Food as much as possible, but McDonalds is always my goto when I get the hankerin'. Quarter Pounder with cheese, plain only ketchup. The quality of fries have gone down hill in the recent years, so if I get them, it's always small - hoping that they would improve. I also like their McFlurry's - but that's like once every 6 months.
-
So, besides Shrek - I'll try and squeeze some chores in and a trip to the Target as the DD's need food. Tonight, it's back to Something Rotten, which I'm finding how much I really like this show.
-
Not a Shrek fan, either.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I'd guess I got eight hours overall, but that cheeseburger did me in - foul.
I believe I twice visited the WoW!
-
Did a little yard work and too little housework.
-
DR RODZINSKI twice is correct.
-
Well we did 30 readings in 4 hours.....Molly had 11, Myrna had 10, and I was the cow's tail at 9.
But the store also did a booming business in merchandise with over $2100 combined when we left at 5:30....$600 in services.....
-
Glad to be home.
-
The one time I was involved in SHREK I liked it, but probably just because I really liked the guy playing SHREK.
I am excited about Something Rotten next August.....but because of my directing schedule, I probably won't be able to do much.
-
I hope MR BK & Co are having a good time.
I got to see the show on Seattle in its pre-Broadway run. I really enjoyed it because I got to see scenes and characters that were cut by the time it got to New York.
-
So - the Shrek rehearsal happened. It was fine, I didn't succumb to PTSD. and it was fun to actually put some skills to work and sight read a show. The best thing, however, was connecting a good friend of mine that was also in the pit. I haven't seen her in ages. We decided to work harder at staying in touch. That really made my day.
-
Hello.
-
We have been having a good time with our friends.
-
Today we went on an hour scenic boat ride on the Columbia River.
-
We then drove half an hour to the little town of Hood River and walked around.
-
Now, the nearest McD’s to me is in Canada and it is SO good.
-
DR Rodzinski congrats on the weight loss.
Nice.
-
I can't recall the last time we actually purchased food at a McDonalds.
-
At one time I liked the fish sandwich.
-
I have no idea when I had my first McDonalds, maybe in high school or after.
-
DR John, yes we finished Station Eleven and liked the last two episodes.
Matthew Perry has died in an apparent drowning
Oh, no! :(
-
My niece LOVES the show Friends.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Good night, all.
-
Ugh, Something Rotten was something rotten in the keys 2 book this eve. Too much playing today.... I had zero concentration.
-
Today, I ushered for Every Brilliant Thing for the second time (I had also worked concessions for it twice), and actually saw it three times.
-
Today, I finally, actually got to see the very beginning of the play.
-
It turns out that I didn't miss much, but it was nice to see it.
-
If you ever get a chance to see this play, GO!
-
It was so good and I highly recommend it. :)
-
After that, I had a couple of hours to kill before I needed to be at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts for the Patty Griffin + Todd Snider concert.
-
They were good, but I'm not a fan.
-
Essentially, he was her opening act.
-
What's interesting is that there were over 700 presold tickets(!), but people started leaving early during her part of the show. ::)
-
I don't know what that was all about, but oh, well.
-
They paid their money and if they want to leave, they can leave...no refunds, though.
-
So, for tonight's selection of lyrics to
pad the post count...um, to entertain and enlighten the HHW community, ;) I decided that I'll post the lyrics to "A Piece of Sky" from the movie musical Yentl, since I just got the new, Expanded 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Yentl-1983-Film-Soundtrack/2842#73578).
-
And here we go...
-
Tell me where
-
Where is it written what it is I'm meant to be?
-
That I can't dare...
-
It all began the day I found
-
That from my window I could only see
-
A piece of sky
-
PAGE SEVEN YENTL DANCE!!
(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61iV7zc1hsL._SL1500_.jpg)
-
I stepped outside and looked around
-
I never dreamed it was so wide
-
Or even half as high
-
The time had come
-
(Papa, can you hear me?)
-
To try my wings
-
(Papa, are you near me?)
-
And even though it seemed at any moment I could fall
-
I felt the most
-
(Papa, can you see me?)
-
Amazing things
-
(Can you understand me?)
-
The things you can't imagine
-
If you've never flown at all
-
Though it's safer to stay on the ground
-
Sometimes where danger lies
-
There the sweetest of pleasures are found
-
No matter where I go
-
There'll be memories that tug at my sleeve
-
But there will also be
-
More to question, yet more to believe
-
Oh, tell me where?
-
Where is the someone who will turn to look at me?
-
And want to share
-
My every sweet-imagined possibility?
-
The more I live, the more I learn
-
The more I learn, the more I realize
-
The less I know
-
PAGE EIGHT LET'S CONTINUE THE SONG DANCE!!
-
Each step I take
-
(Papa, I've a voice now)
-
Each page I turn
-
(Papa, I've a choice now)
-
Each mile I travel only means
-
The more I have to go
-
What's wrong with wanting more?
-
If you can fly, then soar
-
With all there is, why settle for
-
Just a piece of sky?
-
Papa, I can hear you
-
Papa, I can see you
-
Papa, I can feel you
-
Papa, watch me flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
-
;D
