Well, you've read the notes, the notes were scary, and now it is time for you to post until the scary cows come home.

I slept nicely last night.

I don't recall any dreams.

it is currently 61 degrees.  However, today's high is expected to be 67.  Tonight's low is currently prognosticated to be 39 degrees.

It seems a cold front is moving upon us!

I've cleared my schedule today to work on my Medicaid renewal. The unseemly email this morning was an alert to the fact that I needed to renew by Nov. 5, and I decided it had to be accomplished at once rather than procrastinate. There was only one problem: my 2022 tax work and fiished forms sat in a carton twelve feet off the ground, where Mario had put the carton several months ago while I was working on the ballet.

I called Jen and she came down, climbed the ladder and handed me the carton. I will now spend some time with Medicaid forms. As for today's appointment. it's a week from Thursday.

Last night's choral/orchestra rehearsal was great. It's a 16-piece orchestra and the music for this concert is beautiful. Concert's a week and a half from now.

The only thing not so fun was my first time since May to schlep the heavy keyboard and amp. Most of the things I've done this year have been on instruments already at a venue or belonging to someone else, and I'm spoiled. Spoiled rotten.

DR John G, I tried to watch At Long Last Love last night, and gave up after an hour. I liked most of the cast, especially John Hillerman and Eileen Brennan, but I loathed and detested the musical arrangements. I wanted to see Mildred Natwick, but it just got too terrible to endure.

I have never purchased the large tin of Kirkland peanuts as they are likely to go stale before I finish them.  Since I was out of peanuts, and decided the price is still good even if I don't finish the entire tin, I purchased them.  They are pretty good, not my favorite but still very good.

One of the e-mails I did NOT answer was from our leading lady, asking Doug and I for a little private meeting after rehearsal this evening. She wants to discuss "options" as she's telling us she cannot learn her lines. I know what the option she'll want is, which is to carry the script - but I'm not of the opinion you can advertise this as a production and have your lead actress carrying the script and as I've told her already if she DID carry it, she'd lose her place, her eyes would be glued to to it and you can't even do it as a conceit because then everyone should have one. I have never been involved in a production this far along where so few know their lines. I'm bone tired of it all. This could have been such a great show if we weren't constantly replacing actors and going backwards. And my name is on it as director, not anyone else's. Really feeling beat up right now.

I am so sorry MR BK - although it may be too late - there are several APPS that can be used to learn or memorize lines......they can be Googled.

I had a similar experience working with OLDER performers during Morning's At Seven......I have to say I am 73 years old and learning lines is not as easy as it once was......but I did it for The Play That Goes Wrong - the APP helped - but letting EVERYONE down by not learning my lines was not an option to me......  And carrying a script isn't an viable option.

Vibes.

I finally just ended up saying to them "tell the story" if lines get left out - the audience doesn't have a script.  Everyone can keep it going....of course LYRICS are something....else.....

Just tell the story....

Sorry, DR elmore3003 et al.

If I could think of all-original posts to fill up the page counts, I would.

It's just me being a curmudgeon. I understand the desire to increase the number of posts, but this current use of song lyrics to achieve that goal daily really works my last nerve.

LOL.  I must admit it makes me post less here.

I don't want to be the cause of anyone disliking the HHW experience!

Oh, no. :o

My worst moments as a director come from people not learning their lines. Because there’s only so much direction you can give beyond “Learn the damn lines!” I had a whole scene in a show I just basically gave up on because the woman would get so lost and I told the two other poor actors stuck in the scene that they could do literally anything they wanted to save things. It was a black hole in the show. I still cringe to think of it.

Back from a good rehearsal - still two scenes to go in act two, which we'll do first thing tomorrow night, then we'll go back to act one and do detail work on the first two-thirds, as we already did the last third of the act that way. Thursday will be a run-through no matter how rough. We drilled a lot tonight, which is very helpful. I spent the first thirty minutes giving the cast some cuts I made - the person who did this adaptation has a bad habit of writing a line that needs a response, writing four lines after it that have nothing to do with the response, and THEN we get it - so, I'm removing those instances and it plays so much better.
