Well, you've read the notes, the notes acknowledged that it is November, and now it is time for you to post until the November cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ACCELERATE!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well until midnight when the panic attacks began. They were mostly provoked byyesterday's medicaid brouhaha, my financial situation, and my schedule for the next nine days, but I'm also dealing with other things as well.
-
So, today the medicaid throes continue. And Access-a-Ride tsuris.
-
DR Rodzinski, best wishes for a successful end to your interviews.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
Any more CD releases planned, BK?
-
Good morning
-
Not one single trick or treater yesterday
-
John G. Yes I think 11 is best to avoid being late to the theatre
-
It’s raining
-
And cold
-
And dark
-
And I have to go to work
-
I miss Florida
-
Well Wordle, then work, I guess

Good morning, all.
-
Glad to hear last night's rehearsal went well and things are looking more positive.
-
But I am shocked, shocked, to find that it's November. That's just impossible. What in the HELL is going on here?
Does everyone realize Thanksgiving is THREE WEEKS AWAY?
-
The Halloween season (for us, the entire month of October) was good, and we managed to spend more time doing Halloween-y things than in the past few years. I'm always sorry to see it over, though, as that portends the coming of the season we shall not name. Today, in fact, they're getting some bits of some white stuff in more northern (but all too close) regions and in higher elevations.

Yesterday in my brief stop at the supermarket for half a dozen essentials, I caught sight of a display of breads on sale and made an impulse buy of something I used to keep around on occasion, but haven't in at least a couple of decades: a package of cinnamon raisin bread.
Now doesn't that sound exciting? I know how to live on the edge, don't I? They don't call me Thrill Seeker for nothing.
Anyway, I love that kind of thing but hadn't bothered indulging in years. Just had a slice, toasted, with butter, and YUM.
-
I do believe I'll have another soon, along with
More coffee!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Looking forward to seeing Steven Spielberg's documentary about John Williams when it is finished.
-
Have you ever seen a Dodo bird?
Probably not a live one, because they're extinct.
-
Hence, the expression.
-
The expression is expressive.
-
Maybe even impressive.
-

-
Have you heard the tribute album to the Dodo?
It's called Dino Plays Dodo.
-
With Dino at the piano, of course.
-
Glad to read that the important envelopes arrived.
-
I have a few leftovers from last night.
-
It was for a meat and greet.
-
They told me that they would meat me half way.
-
But I went cold turkey.
-
Happy November 1st.
-
Continued vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Glad to hear that MR BK's rehearsal went well last night.
Continued rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.

November!!
-
More interview vibes for DR RODZINSKI.
-
Maybe I will watch BARBIE today.....we shall see. All of my relatives who have seen it have liked it.
-
It is fire inspection day, which means alarms going off like crazy.
-
Keith asked, and they are kindly starting with us.
-
Since every alarm in every unit sets off all of the alarms we are out of here as soon as they finish with us.
-
Worried about the poor dog next door I reminded them of how loud and scary the sound is. They have taken the dog away for the morning :)

We got our car back and it's looking good. The invoice for the hail damage ended up being $20,000.
-
Thank goodness for insurance.
-
Although our rates will probably increase now.

It was an act of God!

I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.

$20,000!!!!!
Pardon my curiosity, but what kind of car is this, that $20,000 didn't total it?
-
Something I learned today:
I thought I was DVRing a movie I'd never seen, but it turns out that The Devil's Own (1966) was just an alternate title for The Witches.
Damn it.

Yay! I don’t have enough.
-
It seemed strange to be home from the gym and market by 11:00.
-
We had very few Trick-or-Treaters last night, which made me very sad. The pandemic year when no one had shots was the best Halloween. So many people were out in the neighborhood, and I got to see so many of my neighbors.
-
DR John I enjoyed reading your comments about Barbie.
-
I didn't really buy much candy for yesterday. And there's a lot left over. I made sugar cookies, and there were quite a few left over.
-
The good news (I guess), was that I left the stuff on the table at the end of the driveway after I put away the decorations. I went out a few minutes later to see a group of teens walking a few houses down. I guess they took everything, including the plastic pumpkin.
-
I guess it's better they eat it than have it here where I'd eat it.
-
I had some baby and toddler trinkets left that my grandson has outgrown. So I gave out a couple of baby board books and rubber duckies to the littlest ones.
-
That's nice, DR Laura.
-
Our car is just a tiny (very tiny) Nissan Rogue (SUV). Good question why they didn't rule it a total loss. Honestly, although there were a lot of dents, it still drove just fine.
-
I guess it's better they eat it than have it here where I'd eat it.
True, but really, they took the pumpkin ;D

Back from check cashing (three minutes, in and out) and putting gas in the motor - complete luck out - I pulled in and they were JUST finishing lowering the price by twenty cents. I waited until that was done then filled her up.
-
but really, they took the pumpkin
Is that better or worse than taking the cake?

Fun, they are testing the fire alarms of those that were absent this morning.

Fingers crossed it is only one unit though I fear it will be more since they are half an hour earlier than expected.

DR Singdaw, wow! I had no idea your mother lived in such a beautiful spot.

Well, as BK said in his notes... Happy November. Yesterday was chaotic at school for a while as we did the parade, and the rest of the morning was good. I dressed as the Phantom of Opera. It was quite the hit as all of the 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes have seen the movie - as I have showed it to them. It's always a hit and they really get into it. Later on this year, I'll show the 6th grade Love Never Dies - that's always a head scratcher to them as the dates don't line up correctly LOL. Anyway, last night I went out Trick-Or-Treating with my nephew Henry and that's always fun. Seeing as though it's November, there are many things happening. I'm at White Christmas this week - but only really called twice, and next week I'm there as well and we just got the notice we should be off-book next week. I'm sorta off book, but there are 2 major speeches - one in Act One and one in Act Two that I need to work on. They are almost there.
-
Oh my, this font certainly appears smaller on my screen!
That's because I am posting this in my new EYE BUY DIRECT glasses.
I haven't had prescription glasses on in well over two years, so I've got to re-accustom myself to how the world acts through them. That takes a little while, especially with a strong progressive lens prescription. But I think these will work fine for the couple of months I'll be using them. I actually regret having waited so long to get them.
The physical fit was perfect right off the bat, and when did that ever happen in an optician's office? Never in my experience. Plus, I ordered them Friday and they're here Wednesday afternoon. I had originally figured I'd try Warby Parker which seems to be all the rage, and then DR Jrand73 suggested this place. I thank you, sir!
-
I'm glad the new glasses fit so well and hope you adjust to the new script.

Good thinking. They have to start with someone, right?
-
Worried about the poor dog next door I reminded them of how loud and scary the sound is. They have taken the dog away for the morning :)
Good that they listened to you.

I always liked cinnamon raisin bread, but the ones I’ve purchased in the last five years or so haven’t been as good as I recall. Perhaps it’t the brand.

They do, and we were very happy it was us.
-
It was odd that the afternoon unit only had one alarm sound. I wonder if that meant the other ones weren't working.
-

I wasn't sure they would and am relieved that they did. I think my "loud and scary" description had something to do with it.

I think you came out very well. You usually can’t buy an equivalent car for what the insurance gives you.
Vibes the car 🚗 is trouble-free going forward (or going backward).

Glad it worked out so well. Especially important with a progressive lens.

This is Thomas', and it's very good. So far. I have no idea what brand I would have bought in the past. Way too long ago. No idea.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater.
-
I have only had Thomas English muffins. I will look for the bread.
-
I really enjoyed the Godfather trilogy. I think the ways people misunderstand them is a shame. The loneliness Michael faces at the end of Part II, when he’s killed off this week’s enemies, is devastating.
-
I have now started A Brilliant Mind. I saw the first half of this years ago, but I have never seen the full movie.

The cardiologist appointment was very irritating. It was merely a preliminary visit before any actual tests, which won’t be until Dec. 11.

That seems a long time to wait for the tests. I'm sorry the appointment was very irritating.

It took me a good chunk of time to adjust to my first progressive lenses.

Well, I need to get ready to go to the airport.
-
Yesterday, I drove my friend Margo to the hospital for knee replacement surgery and it went well.
-
She was supposed to come home today, but they wanted to keep her in the hospital for one more night...I don't know why.
-
Nothing horrible, I'm sure.
-
Anyway, her sister is arriving tonight from Minnesota and I'm picking her up from the aforementioned airport.
-
Her plane arrives around 9:55 pm, and she figures that she'll get her luggage and be at the pick-up area within a half hour or so.
-
I'll probably not leave Tumwater until 8:00.
-
Mariah says it's time.
-
I'll also need to feed myself before I leave and clean out my car so that there's room for her luggage.

I'll bet DR Matthew will get this one immediately:

I definitely should be back before the end of the day, though.

Until later!

So, I don't know when I'll be back.
But I am sure you'll be held accountable, nonetheless. :P

-
Thanks for the well wishes, friends!
-
I'm now parked at SeaTac Airport's cell phone parking lot, waiting for Margo's sister to text me that she's waiting to be picked up.
-
Raining by you, George? First rain in a few days here.
-
She estimated that it would be around 10:25 or so, so about 20 more minutes.
-
Raining by you, George? First rain in a few days here.
Yes, it's raining.
-
At the Philly airport, nobody used the cellphone lot. Even though it was most convenient and had a board showing arrivals. Instead they’d park on the shoulder of the road into the airport. Most unseemly.
-

When I first heard about this, I thought that whoever thought of it was a genious!
-
Rain stayed away for Halloween stuff, now it’s making up for lost time.
-
It's
pregenius*. Now, but not completely filled. There are still enough spaces for people.
*Edit: I have NO idea what that word was supposed to be! :o
-
When I got off the road from I-5 and got onto the road that heads into the airport, there were SO many cars parked along the road that I wondered if there was an accident or was the cell phone lot filled!
-
The line of cars had to have been more than a quarter of a mile! Fortunately, I was able to park in the lot.
-
Gratuitous Post #201!!
-
And I just got the text that I can pick up Margo's sister!
Be back later!
-
We took the kids trick or treating yesterday in Tsawwassen, the neighbor town over the border. Most kids go to a certain neighborhood by the beach so those houses get hundreds of kids. Knowing this, many other neighborhoods people turn off their lights and have no candy. But the people in those neighborhoods who *do* participate end up dumping a ton of candy on kids to get rid of it. So even though we hit maybe a dozen houses, the kids got a lot. It’s a warped set of incentives illustrating Halloween in late-stage capitalism.
-
Welcome to Margo’s sister!
-
We’re what’s happening.
-
Hope that bit of lyric did not offend.
-
If these lyrics have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumbered here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend:
If you pardon, we will mend:
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearned luck
Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends ere long;
Else the Puck a liar call;
So, good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends.
-
DR Iris, if you’re out there… we miss you!
-
And with that, we turn the page…
-
Eighth Avenue, in my experience, the coldest of New York’s avenues.
-
Bob Knight is dead. Maybe only JRand can fully understand the shadow he cast over the Hoosier state, from Gary to Evansville. If you liked Indiana University, he was like a god, and you forgave way too many egregious acts of rage, bullying, and outright violence while appreciating his humor and of course the wins on the court.
If you liked another school, you loathed him and couldn’t understand why he wasn’t in jail in Puerto Rico.
Whoever you were in Indiana, nay, the Midwest, if you followed sports at all, he loomed large in your psyche.
-
Welcome to Margo’s sister!
She arrived safe and sound, and has been deposited at Margo's house.
-
There were no slowdowns, so traffic going both north and south was quite manageable.
-
I'm now at home and need to ketchup on the posts.
-
I have now installed two brand new toilet seats on my two 17-year-old toilets.
-
And actually, I had installed a new one this weekend, but I hated the feel of it and the kind of seat it was (and the other seat that I got was the same brand and kind...all plastic and squeaky ::) ), so I bought two MORE toilet seats (wooden, solid) and those are so much better!
-
I can return the unopened plastic seat, but I didn't keep any of the packaging for the one I just removed.
-
I can probably give it to a friend (if I can find one who needs one) or donate it to the Habitate for Humanity Store (https://www.spshabitat.org/).
-
Just had to share. ;)
-
And...
-
...since we're so close...
