Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a smash, and now it is time for you to post until the smash cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VANGUARD!
-
Topic of the Day: I can't say that I have ever had any "trendy" foods (trending or not), but I do like smash burgers. Eagan's, a local burger joint, has thin burger patties that are similar to smash burgers, and they're really good.
-
Good morrow, all!
-
Am about ready to report for my MRI.
I do not know what to expect, of course. I think I'm fine, but we shall see.
I will say I went to bed at 10:30 p.m. and woke up at 3:30 a.m. to the sounds of the town fire alarm. Sigh.
I could not go back to sleep, so....
Perhaps I'll be able to sleep on the MRI table.

Good morning, all!

DR Matthew, you look great. As a fan of the Lon Chaney film and not a fan of Sir Andrew's musical, I never understood that peculiar half-mask that - I would think - would never stay on Erik's face unless he sewed it into his skin. It's always puzzled me.
-
I am not going to City Center today. It's on hold till Monday. Yesterday afternoon I discovered that one of the cats - I suspect Stella - either vomited or shat on the bathroom rug. I'm hoping it's the former. Either way, I Hope she isn't sick. Today I* need to clean the bathroom, so I can do laundry tomorrow morning.
-
Good morning, all.

Sitting in the ENT waiting room
-
This is the ENT that diagnosed my cancer 15 years ago
-
In fact, I realized on the trip over here that it may be 15 years to the day when I has my first appointment with him, because I had some tests over the week or so and received my diagnosis on 11/11
-
Health and test vibes to everyone else here
-
Maybe I'll worfle while waiting
-
Or wordle even
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am dead tired this morning, thanks to a rocky night of sleep. Thankfully, I can relax today more than over the last few days.
-
Health and various procedure vibes to all the humans and cats in the room.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I could not fall asleep until 1:30am. And I was in bed around 9:00pm. So, blech.

I really LOVE cell phone waiting lots at airports. It makes so much sense. And not all of them have one. MSP, for instance, does not.
-
Picking up lots of forget-me-nots.
-
I believe I’ve only been in two cell phone lots to date: a nice little one at Westchester County that’s about two minutes away from the terminal and which I have never found overcrowded, and a quite large one at JFK that’s about ten minutes from the terminals. I’ve used that one twice. The first time was totally fine. The second time was a freaking disaster. It’s large, as I said, it was about 100% full, and there’s one access road into it with a traffic light onto a busy service road. When my passengers called to say they were at the baggage claim, suddenly the entire lot tried to empty out at once, and it took — I kid you not — 35 minutes for me to maneuver myself toward that exit. After getting to Jet Blue ten minutes later, all the traffic bottlenecked at the baggage claim and I sat for another ten before my people saw me and made their way to the car…which hadn’t yet gotten closer than 3 or 4 lanes away from the sidewalk. Oh yeah, it was also dark and raining, and that one experience was total HELL.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

DR VIXMOM vibes as well.

DR CHAS SMITH I am glad you had a good experience with EYEBUY DIRECT.....and I would certainly recommend them to DR VIXMOM.
I think they are probably less expensive than WARBY.....but I don't know.
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
Last night I dreamed I got a cat - but not in my Maidenform bra.

I liked the picture of DR singdaw's mother's backyard.

I liked the picture of DR MATTHEW as Erik!

My sister is in the air flying to Dulles Airport.....
My niece's husband is a VIP at Bethesda games in Maryland and they are having their big LAUNCH party for a new video game called STARFIELD....at a fancy restaurant in D.C.
So my sister will be babysitting her grand daughter....and have a nice visit for a week or so.
There is some kind of tie-in with Doritos - so if you eat such things you may find a bag that has a STARFIELD promotion label on it.
-
I am watching her on FlightAware......35,000 feet in the air and 574 mph.....about half way across Ohio.

I suspicion the same, but once I'd picked out what I wanted, I didn't bother going over to look. I did stop in at Costco to compare, and I would have had to spend $50 more - thanks to a promotion at EyeBuy.
So ...........

I am a chair murderer!
-
A dear friend's mother gave me a nice Queen Anne chair about 45 years ago.
It had been on display in the living room since then.....a doll was sitting on it because I didn't think it was strong enough for any us to sit in.
-
Last night, I was walking down the hall and into the living room and lost my balance.....and fell onto the chair.
The wood splintered and it is a complete loss....gone after all this time.
-
My sister says they are not using the cell phone lot at Dulles.
-
No cell phone lot.
No Queen Anne chair.
What a day!
-
Yes Bob Knight is dead.
Every thing that DR RODZINSKI wrote about him is true. I never liked him OR his coaching style. He was a bully and much else.....
-
DR Vixmom good vibes at the ENT. I'm sorry your hearing has gotten worse. Even top of the line hearing aids, at least for me, do not replace our original hearing.
-
I have never really adjusted to progressive lenses. Since I read up close without reading glasses I have practically removed that bottom portion of the change, solving the issues with stairs that DR Vixmom has.
-
Healing vibes for Margo!
-
Maybe they kept Margo an extra night since her sister hadn't arrived yet.
-
From Rodzinski:
At the Philly airport, nobody used the cellphone lot. Even though it was most convenient and had a board showing arrivals. Instead they’d park on the shoulder of the road into the airport. Most unseemly.
:o
It has been awhile since I have visited, however, my rides waited in the cellphone lot.
-
DR George I still think the cellphone lots are genius :)
-
I'm glad the Rodzinski children had a fun Halloween.

George, I got a wooden seat for our bathroom and prefer it to the plastic ones.

CONTINUED MRI AND RESULT VIBES FOR DR RON!

Are you OK after your fall, JRand?

There’s a Washington Post article calling Bobby Knight a Shakespearean character. I think Euripides is more accurate. Hubris and all fully on display. He was Trumpian before Trump and tragic, but not worthy of empathy.

Also, I am sorry you didn’t care for At Long Last Love. It is a mess, but I wore out my copy of the soundtrack long before I ever saw it. The album, with all of its dreadful singing, made me a Cole Porter fan for life. So waste or not, I love it. Can’t help it.

I did have one ego boost today. I talked to Doug Fullington, who hired me to orchestrate the ballet. He told me that the ballet's conductor has been going through the score and telling everyone in the Indiana University music dept. that I am a genius. I needed that today.

Well, thank you. This has been a couple of demoralizing weeks, so it was nice to hear something affirmative. I'm going through a period of needing another good job; something's gotta keep me and the cats alive and get me to Indiana for the ballet.

Nice Kevin.

Nice Kevin.
Agreed!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I spent 40 minutes trying to book my annual exam with my ophthalmologist and asking why they wouldn’t book it. I had one scheduled, along with a YAG laser procedure, but the doctor had a family emergency and both my appointments were cancelled. We rescheduled the YAG, then they cancelled it again and couldn’t say when they’d start rescheduling. They were being very vague and giving me meaningless replies to my questions. We went round and round. I now have a YAG scheduled, but they say they have to wait 90 days for the annual check-up. This is the first I’ve heard of such a thing and I’ve had a YAG before. Too bad they couldn’t have said that in the first 5 minutes.
-
I do wonder at times if it wouldn’t be better to hire knowledgeable staff, even if you have to pay them more, than to have patients go through this nonsense with staff who know nothing.
-
MRI result vibes for Ron.

About this morning's MRI:
It was the single most unpleasant experience of my life.
Jane, they had previously told me I had an option of being put under (they do that for folks with severe claustrophobia). As interesting as that idea was (and I would have needed someone with me for that), I figured I had no reason to be too concerned.
Flat on my back. Ear phones to reduce noise placed on my head. And then some other big thingy placed over my head locking it into position and pressing against my chin. There was an oval viewing hole over which they placed something...and that gave me videos of ocean and water scenes. Music played that wasn't particularly helpful given the noise and the absolute stillness I had to endure. I concentrated on my breathing and counted how many times the machine told me about the "next test will last three minutes". When it got to 28 minutes, I was happily removed from the machine. They had attempted to inject some material into my body via IV to help with the scan readings, but it didn't take. That spared me an additional 17 minutes of testing.
I was told they could read the results of what they took, and that was that.
I left feeling a bit weird. Drove to Sam's Club and did minor shopping. Drove home, stopped off at the "Chikin Place" (that IS the spelling) and got an 8-piece variety of fried chicken, a side of slaw. Went to the post office, and then drove to my house.
It was while I was sitting and unwinding, and eating a few pieces of chicken, that I completely succumbed to the overwhelming stress that I had been unaware of. I got into my bed and slept for three hours.
Am feeling much better now, thanks. Any doctor who says "MRI" to me in future will be treated to a horse laugh. If it's considered life-or-death, they will have to knock me out for it.
-
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

Glad you're feeling better, Ron. My friend Margo is very claustrophobic, but has had to have several MRIs, too.

She said that there's something called an open MRI where the sides aren't enclosed. This article has some information on both kinds:

I am sorry that the test was so difficult for you Ron
-
Glad to hear that your talent is recognized, Elmore!
-
And congratulations to JRand on his new fan, as well!
-
Well tomorrow us another work day
-
Goodnight
-
So, a couple of months ago, DR Rodzinski was kind enough to send me some actual Canadian Coffee Crisp candy bars from Canada.
-
I have been saving them and doling them out slowly, so I still have a couple left. :)
-
Well, today I went shopping at Fred Meyer, which is my store of choice.
-
As is my usual first stop, I went to their discount shelves on aisle 20.
-
They have items that might be damaged, or just not selling, or whatever they want to get rid of quickly.
-
Nothing is out of date, but some things aren't complete, like an opened box of protein bars and one or two are missing (but the individual bars are NOT opened), but what's on the shelves are pretty much anything that they want to sell quickly.
-
Most items are around half off, but they might be a little less than half off, or more than half off.
-
Anyway, imagine my surprise when I went there today and found some some actual Coffee Crisp candy bars on their discount shelves! :o
-
I had no idea that Fred Meyer EVER sold Coffee Crisp candy bars!
-
Gratuitous Post #200!! :D
-
It turns out that they were priced at only $0.87 EACH!!
-
AND the regular price was $2.49!
-
Who'da thunk it??
-
So, this happened...
-
::)
-
;D
-
Now, I didn't just buy a dozen candy bars...NO!!
-
I bought TWO WHOLE BOXES of 24 candy bars!
-
It was just too good of a deal to pass up. ;)
-
PAGE EIGHT COFFEE CRISP CANDY BAR DANCE!!
-
You can see the individual REDUCED price labels sticking up.
-
Here's what it looks like up close:
-
You can see the regular price of $2.49.
-
Now, full disclosure...I only bought two full boxes.
-
There were two OTHER full boxes still there, and another box that wasn't full, so I did show some restraint.
-
Some. ::)
-
;)
-
Anyway, I hope they freeze well, because that's where I'd like them to go.
-
I put a couple of candy bars in my freezer as a tester, so we'll see what they're like.
-
One of them will be tested while completely frozen (like you do with Snickers), and I'm going to let the other one defrost completely before trying that.
-
I don't doubt that no matter how it turns out, I'll thoroughly enjoy them.
-
No matter what they're like, they will taste as good.
-
It's really only the texture that will (potentially) be affected.
-
And that's science! :D
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
