Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in the style of Kabuki, and now it is time for you to post until the Kabuki cows come home.
-
And he word of the day is: TOOTHSOME!

Notes toothed. Teethed.

Interesting cast of Mardi Gras:

Nicky Henson, the anti-hero of Psychomania
Aubrey Woods, the Candy Man from Willy Wonka
Lon Satton from Starlite Express
Miquel Brown who later had the big dance hit, “So Many Men, So Little Time”
Gaye Brown who had a small part in the Sweeney Todd film

Good morning, friends.
-
Condolences on the loss of your friend, DR John G.

Friends, be sure to crochet your halibut in time for the holidays.

-
I missed Titanic: The Musical in theaters, but it's coming to BroadwayHD starting 12/15.
-
Good morning, all!
-
This morning, Access-a-Ride will take me to a Quest Diagnostics lab for my lab work before my 3-month exam with my GP. I will run a few errands before I head home.
-
I slept well, but I had some weird dream jumping back and forth between NYC and Middletown, Ohio, involving a production/dance contest, orchestrating the Big Number, and something sinister, I know not what now.
-
DR Jeanne, I hope your dental work wears well.
-
One of my best friends, if not the best, is in a production of All's Well That Ends Well in Los Angeles, produced by the Portals of Hellsgate. The play is set in WW 1, and he's playing the ailing King of France, whom the heroine Helena cures. He wanted a wheelchair, but he found an old walker and painted it black, so he may look something like me hobbling about. A reviewer called him "majestic."
-
DR Ginny, I am happy the move is over. Your change of residence has given me an idea for a book, and I called my friend last night to talk about my idea.
-
DR George, did you ever resolve you mother;s computer issues?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thank you, DR Elmore, for the beautiful card!
-
A Happy Thanksgiving Eve to all!
-
Happy Thanksgiving Eve to you, too, DR ChasSmith, and to all the Hainsie Kimlets.

My dream, the only one I remember so far, was a middle of the night classic —
I’m walking down a city street heading back to where I’d parked my car, and suddenly I’m worried because I’d actually parked it a few days ago. I’m not sure if I’m looking in the right block or if the car has been towed, or even stolen. This time I see a guy vandalizing another car and I’m convinced that I am, in fact, in the right place, and I’m devastated to conclude that mine is gone. I usually wake up a little sooner from these, but at this point I did wake up for a moment, hugely relieved to find myself in bed.
-
A belated Happy Birthday to DR KevinH. I hope it was a good one!
-
This dream was, without question, brought on by my telling someone two days prior about the time in the mid-1990s that my car actually was towed because I’d parked in a spot in front of Academy Books and Records on W. 18th Street that was restricted.

Yes...yes, yes, yes, yes. yes!
I am always relieved to wake up after a dream like this one.
Does anyone ever dream they are driving down a road and find themselves facing a major hole or gap? In my dreams, I don't have enough time to brake, so I think that I might make it if i accelerate but there is never an upslope to help me over.
I wake up rather rapidly after those nightmares.
-
I’ll be back later. I’m pecking these out on the phone, and I just hit my limit in patience for that.

All my tasks are accomplished and now I wait.

I am late, not caught up , nothing but I’ll Wordle yes I’ll Wordle nonetheless

Rodzinski, I have that album of Mardi Gras (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Mardi-Gras-1976-Original-London-Cast/1063/). The book was written by Melvyn Bragg, who also wrote the original novel and the book to the musical The Hired Man (https://castalbums.org/shows/The-Hired-Man/1062/), about his grandfather. He also co-wrote the screenplay to Jesus Christ Superstar. :)

When I was shopping with my sister on Monday, she was talking about making some kind of paw print cookies for a fund raiser, but she was going to use Oreos and M&Ms...somehow.

Your friend’s name?
Time Winters. We've been friends since Autumn 1979. I met him in Drama Book Shop. He was playing Arlecchino in Goldoni's Servantt of Two Masters and I helped him
with commedia del'arte materials. I went to see the show, and then we started hanging out. He's a wonderful actor and a very dear friend. I've supported him through several girlfriends, and he's seen the absolute worst of me and still supports me. He moved to Los Angeles around 1986, He had played Sherlock Holmes in an off-off-Broadway showcase, got a great review in the NY Times, and the next day every agent in town who wouldn't see him in the past wanted to sign him.

Yesterday afternoon, dealing with health issues and cleanup, was hell. Today, so far, has been wonderful. The furst Access-a-Ride got me to the lab about 40 minutes early, There was no one waiting so they saw me immediately and also took care of the lab work for an appointment I have on this Friday, so that's now out of the way. I had an hour to wait for my return trip, so I called the dispatch and a ride arrived 20 minutes later.

From DR Ginny:
DR Jane, the realtor recommended at the end of August that we clear out, let her bring in a spruce-up crew, and then list the house. That meant we didn’t have to keep it presentable AND pack for moving at the same time.
That is much easier than trying to keep a perfect house while preparing to move.
Quick selling vibes once your house is on the market!

From DR John:
Not a fan of Iron Cactus. We ate at La Fonda on Main when you were in town. I love it.
I had trouble imaging Iron Castus could be as good as La Fonda on Main, OMG that was good food.
-
DR John, I am sorry you did not get to see Burt one more time. My condolences on his passing.

I am glad that MR BK finally got some food!
Ditto :)

-
DR George, did you ever resolve you mother;s computer issues?
Fortunately, yes!
-
At first, when I right-clicked on the laptop's desktop to go to "Display settings," it gave me a message about there not being an app that could perform that function. WHAT?? :o
-
Good Morning! Food prep day. But first, gotta play a funeral. (it's part of my job)
More later
-
So, I did the first thing everyone tries, and I restarted it. That fixed the no-app message and I was able to get to the display settings to change the display orientation very easily.
-
WHEW!!
-
Excellent DR George.

Thank you, DR Elmore, for the beautiful card!
Ditto!! :D

A Happy Thanksgiving Eve to all!
Ditto, too!!

I had not heard until today that a Polar Express prequel with Tom Hanks is coming this December.
I was today years old when I found out!
-
And the I did a Google search and found this article (among many others):
Will The Christmas Express Movie Release In 2023? Polar Express Prequel Rumors Explained (https://thedirect.com/article/the-christmas-express-movie-2023-polar-express-prequel-explained)
A new rumor claimed The Polar Express will receive a new prequel movie in 2023 called The Christmas Express, but will it?
::)
-
SPOILER ALERT!! Evidently not.

Back to Fritz the Cat after two phone calls. But why? I’m not stoned.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
My original plan was to go to Ralph's today, or Gelson's, but I'm thinking both might be like pre-Thanksgiving madhouses. What do you think?
-
I could do a delivery order but they tack on so many fees.
-
It shouldn't be too mad. Go to Ralph's!
-
I am at home awaiting the UPS truck. He is delivering my new work computer and I have to sign for it and missed it yesterday so I'm glued to the house.
-
So, I did the first thing everyone tries, and I restarted it. That fixed the no-app message and I was able to get to the display settings to change the display orientation very easily.
DR George, you are such a mensch. I cannot express how much I admire you.

What will a trust account do for her, or you and your sister?
-
My original plan was to go to Ralph's today, or Gelson's, but I'm thinking both might be like pre-Thanksgiving madhouses. What do you think?
Probably, however, when we stopped at Safeway on the way home from the gym it wasn't crowded.

I am at home awaiting the UPS truck. He is delivering my new work computer and I have to sign for it and missed it yesterday so I'm glued to the house.
Fingers crossed you don't have to wait all day for it.

Good afternoon.
-
I have had nothing to report for quite some time now. I did make a weekend trip to LA for a conference, but that's about it.

Progress made on getting a trust account set up for Mom.
What will a trust account do for her, or you and your sister?
It will let me manage her money easier. The current account is with a bank only in Louisville and is too complicated to handle.
-
Good vibes setting up the account goes smoothly.

Watching A Christmas Story Christmas, the sequel of the original. It’s sweet. Has some laughs. But isn’t entirely coherent.
-
Thank you, all, for the condolences.
I cannot remember if I posted my condolences for your friend or not, DR JohnG. I am so sorry for your loss.
-
I could do a delivery order but they tack on so many fees.
I think the earlier the better. Many still have to work today and will hit the stores after they get off work - then it will be madness!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
John G, I’m sorry for the loss of your friend.
-
I’ve been going through more of the photos from my late neighbor. I can only do so much at once. One step at a time.

DR Jeanne, I hope your dental work wears well.

Wednesday evening greetings! We were due at our old house at 2pm to meet with our realtor, which gave us the chance to have a more relaxed morning than the last 2. To our surprise, the upholsterer called to ask if they could deliver our newly re-covered dining room chairs. We’d been told not to expect them until after Thanksgiving. They are beautiful!
-
DR ELMORE I am glad you are having a better day.
So am I!
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
What is the first joke you heard a comic tell that still makes you laugh today?
ME: Jack Benny.
I don't want to say my uncle drank a lot, but two years after he died - his liver won a Charleston contest.
-
What a wonderful surprise DR GINNY.
-
DR JANE - it makes my life worth living......my family is number one for me....and being one of eight children makes it even more fun!

George, Dollar Tree carries the MrPlumber brand. I find that it does the job as well as the others. I’m looking for a less toxic alternative, though. I tried one of the enzyme drain cleaners several years ago, but it wasn’t effective. I see that there are many new ones available, but not for $1.25. I’ll keep looking. In the meantime it’s Mr Plumber.

And speaking of Tom, I got a FB message from his (and my and Jane's and Keith's) friend Sharry. While going through his things, she had found the DVD of when we all called Edisaurus and left messages to celebrate BK's 60th birthday and Edi made a DVD with photos from the previous HHW years, and would I want it. Of course, I would! I know I have my copy somewhere, but I don't mind having this extra copy. Anyway, it arrived yesterday, and included were a couple of photos that I'd like to share. :)

I suppose you could put walnuts on the outside. I've only used powdered sugar. I also wouldn't want to eat it with any nuts.
It is fairly easy. Just doing the roll part is a bit more complicated.
-
AND POWDERED SUGAR IS VERY MESSY :))

When I have made the pumpkin roll for Christmas I used my mother's English decorations. I told Keith I wanted something to make the cake look prettier on the plate. Since I don't have fall decorations we picked up Ghirardelli chocolate chips, 60% Cacao Bittersweet & milk, plus Heath English Toffee Bits to sprinkle around the pumpkin roll.

That sounds really good, Jane!

That sounds fantastic! My aunt used to make them at Christmas time (with the walnuts, which I didn't care for but I ate them anyway). One of these days I'm going to attempt. I need to get a jelly roll pan first.

I attempted to attach my recipe file. Since I don't know what I am doing it didn't work. I will copy and paste the recipe.

Pumpkin Roll
Cake Ingredients & Directions
3 eggs
2/3-cup pumpkin
1-cup sugar
3/4-cup all-purpose flour
1-tsp baking soda
2-tsp cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg (fresh ground is best)
Beat eggs well
Beat in remaining cake ingredients
Spread mixture onto well-greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch cooking sheet
Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes
Loosen cake corners with a knife
Coat a smooth, flat dish towel with powdered sugar
Turn cake pan onto the coated dish towel
Roll-up towel / cake and cool for 30 minutes at room temperature
Filling Ingredients & Directions
1-cup powdered sugar
6-oz softened cream cheese
4-tbsp softened butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
Combine all ingredients and beat well
Pumpkin Roll Construction
Unroll towel—powdered sugar will be on the BOTTOM—and lie flat on the towel
Spread filling across top of cake
Roll-up cake (top to bottom)—NOT with the towel—so it resembles a paper towel roll
Wrap the roll in wax paper
Refrigerate until ready to serve
Dust top with powdered sugar before serving

This sort of worked... but it's what's going on the table tomorrow!
-
DR Matthew I bet it will be a hit.
-
Interesting, the photo just showed up.
-
It is an interesting shape, kind of nice vs just a casserole dish. It doesn't look over cooked.

It was in a bundt pan that has a cool pattern in it. You can sorta see it. With the different colors in the stuffing, you can't really tell.
-
DR Jane - I'm going to attempt your recipe this Christmas. Thanks for posting it

You are welcome. I hope you like it.

You are welcome DR George.

That actually looks pretty good, Matthew.
-
I received emails from "Costco" saying I earned, with my rewards, a nice set of Le Creuset. I've never received these scam emails before and tonight I got four of them.

It does, and I am impressed you got it out of the pan in one piece.
-
Matthew, maybe next time you can make it real special and make it in a pan like THIS (https://www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-Cast-Castle-Bundt/dp/B000F5M044/):

LOL - I'm glad it looks that way - it was in three pieces and I just put them together. The magic of the kitchen
-
LOL, I wondered if you were going to respond with a story of patching it together.
-
I have never made a rolled cake. I think it would be a disaster. Maybe that will be my project on the day of the marathon when I'm trapped at home.
-
DR George, thanks for the wonderful photos of TCB!
-
DR Jrand 73, you Indianapolis cutups are too cute!

The trick is to make sure the pan is well greased so the cake doesn't stick to it. Second trick is to use a good amount of powdered sugar on the towel, making sure there isn't any towel for the cake to stick to. I find a sifter works well to coat the towel.

'night
-
My new computer and mouse arrived safely, so I’ll get all set up for the new job this weekend.
-
I’ve met at least one JRand sister and can attest to their deeply fun spirit.
-
DR George, thanks for the wonderful photos of TCB!
I'm glad you liked them. And I found out when the group photo was taken. Sharry said that "the photo was taken at For Peter Pan, On Her 74th Birthday, the last show that Tom and I did together--an Off the Shelf."
-
An "Off the Shelf" was essentially a one-night-only semi-staged reading of a show where the actors perform with scripts in hand. It was really well done.
-

It was in a bundt pan that has a cool pattern in it. You can sorta see it. With the different colors in the stuffing, you can't really tell.
I'd eat a chunk of it!!!

I can’t wait for their next Winter-a-Go-Go par-tay!
-
So much going on here at HHW today.
-
Thanks for sharing that recipe, DR Jane. I always feel that HHW should have more recipes.
-
I sang at a Thanksgiving church service tonight. I am glad to be home.
-
Scary about BMI.
-
Glad things are moving along toward your new job, DR Rodzinski.
-
And that DR Ginny is getting more settled. It will be a process.
-
I've got a five day weekend!
-
Huzzah for me.
-
If I attempted a pumpkin roll, I imagine the cake would crack into a million pieces when I tried to roll it.
-
Delicious pieces, nonetheless.
-
Good night, friends.
-
I bought gasoline today for $3.059.
And I bought a $5 scratch off ticket and won $15 - the amount of gasoline I purchased.
I paid over $6/gal on Monday.
It’s $2.45 here now. Don’t know the Costco price.
-
I've got a five day weekend!
Enjoy.
-
Thanks for sharing that recipe, DR Jane. I always feel that HHW should have more recipes.
Here’s one for the after-dinner drink I had tonight. Take Amaro Nonino and pour it over ice. Serve. Drink. Enjoy.
-
It made me happy.
-
In memory of TCB, here’s a Thanksgiving parade clip of Chayenne Jackson. With blond hair.
https://youtu.be/bUR-7TmLzm8?si=9LMafiWCMwxPWhUk
The ad ahead of the clip was for a stud finder. I thought that appropriate.
Ha!
-
Finally caught up on the posts. Great photos from everyone. Thank you, all.
-
For the past 22 years or so, I have celebrated Thanksgiving Eve with my friends Pam snd Cecil. Tonight we went to a Brazilian steakhouse. I stuck with the salad bar and had a fine meal of it.
-
Eight!
-
We toasted friends no longer with us.
-
I’m now starting The Mummy Returns. Silly, fun adventure.
-
But I am beginning to fade.
-
And I have to bake a tart in the morning.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
First joke - hmmm. I'm gonna say it was on Ed Sullivan and I'm gonna say I don't remember the comic and I'm gonna say it was sometime around 1959. Comic: These foreign cars today are so small that I stuck my arm out to make a left turn and two of 'em drove up my sleeve.
I thought that was pretty funny.
-
Good WC rehearsal. I'm still struggling with my last monologue. I know my lines fine, but on stage, I blank, all the time. It's gotta stop!!! I, too, may have a martini this eve!
-
Have to decide to butter the turkey tonight or tomorrow morning WAY early.
-
Oh, and the Martini is very good! (vodka not gin)
-
Kind of odd this year. Kids go to school in Canada where it’s just a normal day, so no real Thanksgiving in the air. Don’t have anyone visiting. Mrs R is off work, so we’ll go to lunch together tomorrow, a rare treat.
-
As opposed to just having lunch together in the kitchen.

Rodzinski, is the Canadian Thanksgiving celebrated in a similar way as the American Thanksgiving?
-
Good (checks time) morning, Matthew.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Just noticed that Taco Bell has their rolled chicken taco thing again - they're really good, so - I just ordered some because - I'm hungry. I ate my pasta rather early and it wasn't huge, then had the not huge slice of cheesecake, so rolled tacos aren't too bad calorie-wise so why not.

I have the same blanking problem when I'm on stage, too. ::)
-
When I was in Agatha Christie's A Murder is Announced last year, there was only one, count 'em, ONE performance where I didn't make a mistake.
-
And, of course, I never made the same mistake twice...so I know I knew all the lines.
