Well, you've read the notes, the notes were uncomfortably full, and now it is time for you to post until the uncomfortably full cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CAVORT!
-
Last night, I did go down the rabbit hole of The Meidas Touch (https://www.youtube.com/@MeidasTouch). I just can't get enough of their legal analysis.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I hoped to sleep longer, but I am the slave to three spoiled cats.
-
I enjoyed reading everyone's Thanksgiving day. I had a nice dinner from Cafe Viand, courtesy of Joshie and John Bell. The dinner was enormous and quite delicious; I'll have the second half for dinner tonight.
-
DR Jeanne, I have very little gossip on La Streisand, but I would be curious to read her tome.
-
DR vixmom, thanks for the update and photos of DR WFO; he's such a good man.
-
Good morning, all.
-
And good post-T-Day wishes to everyone.
-
Enjoyed the pictures from vixmom, and it’s great to hear about everyone’s day.
-
Loved hearing about the El Torito visit. I miss having them around.
It’s still incredible to me that when I moved from LA to Danbury in 1988, there was an El Torito right here. It was here for a couple of years before it and the surrounding property were razed and developed into a business park. I mourn that 30-plus years later.
My last El Torito in CA was the one at the Redondo pier. Before that, there were one or two we frequented but I’ll have to think about where they were. Marina del Rey seems logical but I’ll have to do some research. I expect BK’s and DR Jeanne’s was after my time. At any rate, I didn’t know that one.
-
DR Ginny, Bob Evans seems like a good place to get this kind of dinner from. How did it go?
Our Stew Leonard’s was fine, but this being our first time, we had to find our groove with the unpacking and reheating. If we do it again we’ll be ready. But how nice it was, for once, not to spend the better part of two or three days prior, plus the day of, doing the enormous amount of preparation that had become such a ritual.
-
So, Friday. And the Friday TOD.
We got hooked on watching some 60th anniversary JFK documentaries, and I started listening to the commentary for The Devil and Daniel Webster, but I’ll have to finish that later.
Tonight I’m attending the opening of this year’s Wreck the Halls. This being my year to take the holidays off from playing shows, it will be superbly enjoyable and fascinating to watch from the audience, to see two new cast members and see/hear two new numbers, and to hear the whole thing led and played by somebody who isn’t me! :)
-
I had a very nice Thanksgiving celebration with family (of sorts). I am only directly related to Butch, his daughter Ashley, his son Benjamin and Ashley's son Anderson. I am an in-law relation to Clay Keller and his sons Cross, Cade and Stone.
The food was excellent, and Clay prepared the majority of it including dressing from his mother's recipe. It was very good. We had turkey, ham, dressing, sweet potato souffle, pineapple souffle, some sort of cheesy souffle and pecan pie for dessert. There were two kinds of cranberries: Canned sauce and something Ashley whipped up.
Table conversation was lively, we all had a very good time, and Sharon, Butch and I left shortly before 3 pm.
I am now recovered, as it were, from the trip, the excess of good cheer and food, and ready to face my next challenge: The drive out of town tomorrow to a funeral. My cousin Debra and I wlll represent our moms at the funeral of the last close relation in the Brooks line of our family. All remaining relations are 2nd and 3rd cousins and beyond. This line of family is my maternal grandmother's family.
Sunday will be another day of recuperation followed by an evening of prepping for Monday morning's colonoscopy.
Oh. Joy.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Slept 10 hours and am very happy about it.
-
Lazy work-related dreams. I got asked back to work at the newspaper. Everyone around me was welcoming me back. But I didn’t want the job offered. And nobody seemed to believe me when I said I wasn’t taking it.
-
I should finish decorating today. Maybe do some gardening.
-
TOD:
I have eight movies on reserve at the library that have come in. Can’t remember a single one except Oppenheimer.
-
DR John G.'s ship has come in!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Likewise recovering from my tryptophan haze.
-
I should finish decorating today.
-
DR Vixmom your side dishes looked very good. What was in the Bowl & Basket? I have never seen that before.
-
Good Morning! Happy "Day after" Thanksgiving. Hope everyone has recovered nicely. I'm off to Sausalito for the day with a few friends. We'll see what we see - I've only ever been once.
-
Vixmom the chocolate dessert was not only pretty but looked delicious. I personally would have only enjoyed the ice cream with it.
OK, I found my answer, tuxedo chocolate mousse cake.
-
DR Matthew I am glad your evening was great.
-
Wonderful report on DR WFO.
-
From DR Rodzinski:
Had Thai lunch from a food truck in Vancouver, BC. Then the Mrs surprised me with a mini turkey meal at dinner time with the kids. So we had a wee American Thanksgiving after all.
Aw, that is nice.
-
Very nice photos Vixmom. We ate with a photogropher last night and never had a single photo taken ;D
Your mother looks very happy.
-

What wonderful food photos and discussions!
Lovely posts!
DR VIXMOM - is that a dubbing cassette player on that table?
-
When we moved to New Jersey there weren't any Mexican restaurants, a concept that was foreign to us. Fortunately I had an excellent enchilada recipe from the mother of a co-worker.
After moving to Massachussets the boys and I returned to visit a NJ friend. She was very excited to take us to a new restaurant. To my surprise & joy it was El Torito's. If only they had opened up a couple of years earlier.
-
We didn't have Mexican food in Massachusetts either.

From a wonderful day, to a sad one, to an unpleasant one. Hoping all goes well.

Slept 10 hours and am very happy about it.
Lovely. I had a migraine last night which isn't completely gone yet.

Lazy work-related dreams. I got asked back to work at the newspaper. Everyone around me was welcoming me back. But I didn’t want the job offered. And nobody seemed to believe me when I said I wasn’t taking it.
This sounds like a positive dream to me.

We never finished watching it. Keith would have continued but stopped as I wasn't thrilled with it.

I had a very nice 90-minute phone conversation this morning with my former boss who lives in Fremont CA. We discussed many things. He wasn't just a boss, he was and remains a good friend.
After discussing people and travels, we began talking about food. I am now very hungry.

DR John G.'s ship has come in!

DR Jeanne-- I just finished listening to Barbra's audio version of her book--narrated by Miss S herself. It lasted 48 hours and 15 minutes. Of course, as a big fan, I loved it. She does go into detail about a lot of things that may not interest some people, though
-
Just watched the numbers from the parade yesterday.

It has been a long time since I have been in a Shoprite, long before markets had their own brands.

What to do with left over Heath English Toffee Bits, add them to Hagen-Dazs coffee chip ice cream.

Out of a nice, hot shower. Need to get dressed in a bit. Going out to dinner later.

Productive day here. I picked up the curtains we’ll use in the bedrooms from the dry cleaner and went to the old house for more kitchen stuff. Richard joined me there about an hour later and we worked until it was time to pick up the groceries I’d ordered this morning. He was home just ahead of me to help unload the groceries and now we’ve crashed.

Sounds like a full day, Ginny.

DR Ginny do you have a lot more to remove from your old house?
-
I have been perusing El Torito's menu. Now I'm hungry. :)
-
DR Ginny do you have a lot more to remove from your old house?
It’s mostly kitchen stuff, DR Jane. I kept thinking it was too soon to pack up the kitchen and waited too long to start. Since it was a local move and we don’t have new owners breathing down our necks, we’ll be fine.

I think the way you are doing it is the best. I was simply curious how much you had left to do.

Back from the days outing to Sausalito. Lovely time with my BF Sabrina and her husband Alan. It was a great day and the weather was excellent. On the way back home, I had to stop at the Apple Store at the mall(!) to pick up a new Apple Pencil that I ordered online this morning. Mine has gone missing and I'm pretty much useless without one, so I picked one up. The mall was the easy part.
I decided to check on the DD's on the webcam and when I checked I only saw one dog running around and I noticed they pulled the TJ's bags off the counter which contained a plate, a bowl, TWO KNIVES, and some other stuff. But I didn't see the other dog. So, instead of stopping at the Chinese Restaurant to get some dinner, I zoomed home. Expecting the worse - as knives were involved. Anyway, they both met me in the door and I was greeted by wagging tails and stuff strewn around the apartment. The bowl, which I thiought was plastic was broken into many pieces and the plate was intact. The knives were on the floor. one far away from the kitchen etc. No one was hurt, but DD Leo was the guilty one and all I had to do was look at him and his head hung low and his little tail was as tucked into his butt as humanly possile. I cleaned up the mess without a word and we went on with our afternoon. DD Leo is paying for the DoorDash fees!
-
My gosh, DR Matthew. Glad it wasn't worse.

What a relief the dogs were ok. I can imagine your fear as you drove home. Apparently you can never leave anything unattended on the counter. I wonder what that other stuff was that attracted DD Leo's atttention ;)

At one point, there was food in the bags, not sure if that was it. They are very picky about what they will get into. Anything that belongs to me, they don't even touch - which includes my flip-flops that are by the door.
-
My boss back in Connecticut is retiring in a few weeks. I just spent a half hour composing a congratulation letter. I think she'll appreciate it.

It must have been the scent of the food. They have good noses.

Hello, everyone.

I just learned that there is something wrong with the water heater for the building. The part won’t be available until Monday. Sigh. I think I can survive a cold shower, but not washing my hair. Laundry will have to wait. I need to think creatively.

Well, FINALLY I'm able to log into one of my e-mail accounts!
-
I don't know how it happened that I couldn't log into one of my e-mail accounts, but last week, I tried to log into one (with Comcast, I have seven different e-mail accounts) and I got the message that I had to reset my password.
-
Very inconvenient, but okay...it needs to be done.
-
I click the "Reset password" link and it says that I have to call a toll-free number to change my password.
-
What?? ???
-
Why do I have to call a number?
-
:P
-
Fine, I call the number.
-
Of course, it's totally automated.
-
::)
-
I go through the prompts and it says something about needing to send a link by text to my phone to continue the process.
-
Fine...send the text.
-
I click on the link that was sent by text and...
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
...it takes me to the same page that has the message about needing to call the toll-free number to change my password!
-
WTF??
-
:o
-
I go through that process several times and, of course, I'm getting frustrated.
-
It just keeps going around in circles.
-
I call again and try to get to a live person.
-
I'm sure that they deliberately make it difficult to get to a live person...it didn't used to be this hard.
-
I eventually get to someone who has a very strong accent. ::)
-
He tries to help and essentially only gets me to repeat exactly everything that I've already done.
-
He keeps sending different links through texts and they all end up at the same place...the message to call the toll-free number.
-
I eventually say that it worked and just got off the phone.
-
This first time calling all happened last week.
-
Every couple of days, I'd try to log into that e-mail again, and still nothing.
-
I have absolutely NO problem logging into any of my other e-mail addresses.
-
So today, I decided to go to the XFINITY store and hope that they can help me in person.
-
Short answer: they couldn't. ::)
-
I was told that they could only help with the service itself and the e-mail part of it all was essentially another department.
-
How rude! >:(
-
So, I came home and decided that I wasn't going to get off the phone until SOMEONE was able to help me.
-
The first person I spoke to had less of an Indian accent, so that was helpful to begin with.
-
He had me do exactly what I had already done, which was also exactly what the first guy had me do, too.
-
We went through that a couple of times, and he finally was able to send me to his supervisor or just someone above his pay grade.
-
This new guy had me do the same things again, but then he was able to send a signal to my account page and FINALLY that actually gave me a link to click INSTEAD of the message to call the toll-free number!
-
HALLE-FREKIN'-LOOYA!!
-
I had my phone automatically generate a complicated password, and I was able to copy that and paste it into a note so that I could enter it into my desktop computer and my other devices.
-
And now, after more than I week, I can log into every one of my e-mail addresses without any trouble.
-
And there better not be any more trouble!! >:(
-
;)
-
And now, since we're so close...
-
7 e v e n ! ! ! ! ! ! !
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
Home after the show and then Coral Cafe. I knew a few folks there, so that was fun. More in the notes but we had a great audience.
-
I do hope George isn't doing the Meidas Touch stuff again. Frankly, I've given up on them - too much patting themselves on the back, taking way too long to get to the actual point by repeating stuff we already know and that they've done three or four or more videos on. We need you HERE. We need you NOW. Or you WILL be held accountable.
-

Umm... ::)
-
Okay, I won't.

-
You're right...they are quite repetitious and they do gloat quite a bit.
-
Joy Reid on MSNBC, who I like also, to me tends to gloat a lot, too.
-
Tomorrow, my friends Margo and Shelly and I are going to go out to lunch together.
-
We're going to go to the local restaurant called Tugboat Annie's (https://tugboatannies.com/).
-
I've only been there a couple of times, but I enjoyed it...although I don't remember what I had before.
-
Looking at their menus, they have plenty of choices, so we'll all have something that we really want. :)
-
Before Shelly and I pick up Margo, we're going to stop off at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts to get tickets for God is a Scottish Drag Queen 3 (https://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/god-is-a-scottish-drag-queen-3/)!
-
Margo and I volunteer at the WCPA, and since we have ushered for 40+ hours, we each have a gift certificate for two free tickets to certain events, and the God is a Scottish Drag Queen 3 show is one of the eligible shows.
-
Margo and I have seen his first two shows, and he's hysterical!
-
Here's the description on the WCPA site:
God, dressed in a floral power suit, comes down to set the record straight and expound on everything from Adam & Eve to Zeus, and answer humankind’s most asked questions in a hilarious and unforgettable sequel! Loved by Preachers and Atheists alike, this franchise has quickly become one of the most popular one man shows touring today and has received critical acclaim for its non-stop brilliant look at pop culture and humanity through the eyes of a silly, foul-mouthed, and very loveable Scottish Deity. You don’t need to have seen the first two shows to enjoy this stand-alone sequel!
