Well, you've read the notes, the notes were about the penultimate performance, and now it is time for you to post until the penultimate cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CHERISH!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well until 3:30. From then to the alarm at 6:00 I was besieged with cats and little sleep, Stella was the worst last night; she slept nexto to me until 3:30, when she deiced I was not paying her enough attention. Then Annabelle showed up to sneeze everywhere. Thatch was last to arrive at the party, but he only wanted to cuddle next to me, He is such a little gentleman.
-
Then Annabelle left and Stella spent the remainder of the time climbing over me, settling for a bit, and then jumpig around the bed.
-
During all of this feline frenzy, I had a dream in which I was working in a rather untidy office with a rather condescending supervisor. Reading a play wassomehow involved and then a sudde realization I might be on the set of a play or movie.
-
Access-a-Ride will show up this morning and cart me to City Center. Joshie and I will work on the overture for Once Upon a Mattress today, and this will end my first round of work on the show. On Dec. 21, the orchestra will read down the score, and we will decide after that what adjustments we might want to make.
-
This week, besides laundry, I'm hoping to get through the final proof of the Annabelle & Thatch mockup.I've been through the first seven chapters now.
-
DR singdaw, you posted last night: The most wonderful time of the year, if the song is to be believed.
That song has been appropriated by Claritin for one of the most irritating and stupid commercials ever.
-
Good morning, all.
-
A quick hello, because I must leave early for an afternoon rehearsal for the three days of concerts to follow, such fun.
-
Have to do some ketchuping later. Good Sunday vibes to all!
-
Good morning.
-
Boy did i sleep!
-
I must now go to church
-
But mayi mention how handsome John looked last night in his dancing finery!

Good morning, all.

Thank you, all, for the nice comments on the photos.

I slept okay, but I drank so much water last night that my sleep was interrupted several times.

~~~FINAL PERFORMANCE VIBES~~~ for the Company of 70, Girls, 70!!!!!
I just volunteered some time with the Library of Congress, transcribing a 3-page letter from Hal Prince to Leonard Bernstein about the gestation of Mass.
I am hoping to go to the movies today. Might be the first time this year.
Happy Sunday to one and all...there's a new Broadway Radio Show up on the site for your listening pleasure. It's time (after more than a year) for another DIVA Shout Out episode where we look at the career and recordings of a talented woman of the stage, and this time the spotlight is on SALLY MAYES! Lots of wonderful songs from this amazing performer (many, of course, produced by our very own Bruce Kimmel!) Check it out:
That sounds great!
-
Yes, such fine dancing photos from John G!
-
George, sorry to hear about the hassles you're going through with your email!
-
Last show vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Happy to get the White Christmas repor from DR MATTHEW yesterday.
-
I loved the church photos from DR BUXMOM.
-
I also loved the photos from DR JOHN G. What fun!
-
DR singdaw that sounds exciting - and NOW your busy work period has ended!
-
I had to read George Eells' book about Gig Young as part of my research - he writes a lot of Gig's second wife who is included in my project.
I went ahead and finished the book. It's a sad story. I think Eells thought he had Young all figured out and tied things up with a nice ribbon and bow. I'm not so sure.
-
BREAKING NEWS....I actually laughed at something on SNL last night...I couldn't believe it.
I heard of but had never heard the musical guest Billie Eilish....hers is not a sound I appreciate.
this is what made me laugh:
You can't help but notice that THREE of the FIVE folks in that sketch are FORMER cast members.
-
I also liked DR FREDDIE's family story yesterday.
Eels wrote a not good bio of Cole Porter if I recall correctly
Just watched an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents with John Cassavettes as an escaped convict. Great performance of menace and charm.
-
The outside greenery
-
And the entrance doors
-
So festive, vixmom.
-
The church looks great, Vixmom.
-
I’m sitting in a theater waiting to see The Holdovers.
-
Thank you, all, for the nice comments on the photos.
I forgot to say something, but I meant to. You look very happy and festive.
I have always wondered if Eels might be a closeted gay man. He certain;y avoids any mention of Cole Porters's predilections.
-
And I am home from a wonderful visit with Joshie. We tore that Entr'Acte, which will be the production's Overture, apart and made it better.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep, dog walked, did both businesses, and she's had her first meal. In ten minutes I'll shower and I'll leave a little before noon so I can stop at Gelson's.
-
Sounds great, DR elmore3003.
It is grey and cloudy here. But not too cold. Feels like December.
Which is a good thing.
Since it is December.
At least, on my calendar.
DR Singdaw the new Minnesota state flag is very pretty. Are you pleased with the design that was chosen or did you have a different favorite?
-
A good day for a nap, too.
-
DR Jane, I like it just fine. I didn't pay much attention to the contest.
-
And in answer to your question from yesterday, my normal co-pay is $40.
-
From DR Ron:
Does it mean there will be no more Barbie dolls?
I wish ;D
-
DR John, great and very festive photos from last night :)
-
:)
-
I just volunteered some time with the Library of Congress, transcribing a 3-page letter from Hal Prince to Leonard Bernstein about the gestation of Mass.
Nice.
-
The outside greenery
Simple but very nice.
-
And the entrance doors
Pretty.
-
And in answer to your question from yesterday, my normal co-pay is $40.
I thought $50 seemed high. It is hard to imagine you would be charged more than your co-pay unless they can't bill your insurance company.
Riddle me this:
In Frosty the Snowman, why are the kids wearing shorts?
-
The church looks lovely, vixmom!
-
Riddle me this:
In Frosty the Snowman, why are the kids wearing shorts?
That IS a good question!
-
And Frosty the Snowman is smoking, too!
-
Riddle me this:
In Frosty the Snowman, why are the kids wearing shorts?
;D
-
The girl is wearing a dress which would be even colder than wearing shorts.
-
And Frosty the Snowman is smoking, too!
It is only his corn pipe ;)
-
I just ordered the last of the kids gifts. It is all food stuff we send every year, nothing really exciting.
-
Yesterday I ordered the fun stuff to the little one. Two puzzles I ordered won't arrive until January. I really should have done this sooner. I just added another puzzle that will arrive in time.
Well, my friend Kyle and I recorded Part 1 of our final episode of what could be just the first season of Sunday on the Mic with George (https://open.spotify.com/show/3CZoqL2Yv3HnEx2T3drLLU).
-
DR Jed and Jesse (who played Dot in SitPwG that we were all in) were our in-person guests.
-
We were open for any other previous guests to join by Zoom, but no one did.
-
Next Sunday, we're going to record Part 2 so that anyone who couldn't be here/wasn't available today would have a chance to join, too.
-
I know that at least one person who lives back east is going to join us via Zoom, but there may be more. :)
-
We'll see how it goes...and then, we'll take a bit of a break and see if we're up for a season 2!
-
PAGE FOUR DANCE!!
-
Now, I'm going to pick up Margo, and we're going to a holiday party hosted by a fellow WCPA volunteer, so that'll be fun.
-
Then a couple hours after that ends, I'm off to another party hosted by someone from the fund raiser that celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Hotel Olympian.
-
Today is a day of parties! ;D
-
And now, I'm off.
Until later!
-
Well, my friend Kyle and I recorded Part 1 of our final episode of what could be just the first season of Sunday on the Mic with George (https://open.spotify.com/show/3CZoqL2Yv3HnEx2T3drLLU).
Wow. Vibes there will be a season two.
Tomorrow I am going to see White Christmas on the big screen.
Agreed! That would be fun!
-
So, I most fortunately checked my e-mail and found out that the second party that I was going to go to today has been cancelled. The husband of the hostess is sick, so no party...which is a good reason not to have a party.
-
Anyway, I'm home. :D
-
The first party that I just went to was actually a holiday tea party.
-
I don't drink tea, but I partook of several cups (actual porcelain cups!) and kind of enjoyed them. ;D
-
The foodstuffs and desserts were quite good, so that part was very enjoyable.
-
I drove Margo to her home and now I'm at my home.
-
Congrats on the podcast, DR George!
Thanks, Kevin!
You are correct. Plans change and change again. :-\
I'll only report on the sale again WHEN it happens. I don't want anyone to think that she's a flake. She's definitely not.
I remember having a "family" salad years ago that was not quite that large, but definitely not a normal "side" salad.
Just watched the Lizzie Bordon episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Reminded me of this brilliant New Faces number.
What a shame for the couple hosting. To do all that work, have all that food, etc. I hope he will be ok.
Nearing the end of this disc. Clare Trevor is a journalist touring a Communist country. Several actors from Hogan’s Heroes are in the supporting cast.
-
In the previous episode, Claude Raines was a ventriloquist and a young Charles Bronson a police detective investigating a murder.
-
This show had great actors. Great writers too. Ray Bradberry wrote one script.
-
'night
-
Back from our last performance and a cast party in the green room. Party was fun
-
Show was, for me, a complete thud and I think the cast felt it, too.
-
That's too bad.
-
After two amazing shows, the opening line got the huge laugh it always gets and then it became a text book example of how to lose a great audience. Screwing up the easiest ography ever in the opening number - baffling. When the first person at the end of a line doesn't do her turn it screws up everyone else in the line who turn on specific lyrics.
-
Leading lady skipping a page of dialogue in the first scene, which sets up the entire show and fumfering around so that nothing made any sense. That actually ended up happening several times.
-
Low energy from many people.
-
Actress completely blanking on the name of the hotel.
-
Doug completely not doing what he usually does in The Caper. He was at his best Friday night and this was the polar opposite. Also screwing up the easy ography in Boom Ditty Boom.
-
And on and on. Certainly the sloppiest show we've done and what a shame - the audience was so primed and they still seemed to enjoy it, but I always want to give the best show we can.
-
So, I'll consider last night our final performance and today some other thing.
-
Came home, the dog peed, then I fed her her second meal and I'm awaiting the arrival of some food.
-
So sorry to hear that, BK. :(
-
Good night, friends.
-
Sorry, BK. You have the right idea to focus on last night.
-
Starting to stream a British Christmas movie that came highly recommended, The Holly and the Ivy. Ralph Richardson, Celia Johnson and Denholm Elliott star.
-
Malcolm Arnold did the score.
DR singdaw: I did not put up a tree. That photo you cited was the one i decorated for Christmas 2016.
I know I did one in 2017, as well, but I never photographed.
Since then, i have only put up trees without decorations...just lights.
Last year and this year, NOTHNG. Not in the mood.
-
DR Rodzinski: I, too, felt nothing, emotionally, about "Barbie."
I had a small discussion in today's weekly Zoom chat with film music fans in which the ending was cited by one of them as something rewarding and refreshing after a film filled with absurdity, albeit entertaining absurdity.
To that, I had to ask what was rewarding and refreshing about a "doll" becoming a real person and wanting a real life? Was she having a Pinocchio-style complex or something?
I think Barbie has a place in children's imaginations and toys...but is she really a real-life heroine?
I like clever things, but there was nothing that resonated for me after it was over.
-
"Barbie" was on Max vice Netflix. My error.
-
A man and his son are coming in the morning to repair/replace my dislodged gutter. I will be very happy and relieved when this is done.
It will feel as though I have accomplished quite a lot for 2024, even if it was writing out checks to pay for all the work.
The Holly and the Ivy was a great Christmas flick. The movie was new to me, but thr emotions were real. England after the war. A family finding its way. Very British, very moving.
-
Show was, for me, a complete thud and I think the cast felt it, too.
Darn. :-\
-
So, I'll consider last night our final performance and today some other thing.
A post-partum rehearsal? ;)
Finished Rachel Maddow’s Prequel. It’s the story of the rise of fascism in America in the early twentieth century. Excellent.
-
Now listening to a comical mystery, The Clementine Complex. Very British. Enjoyable so far.
-
The milestone will have to wait until tomorrow.
-
I’m beginning to fade.
-
But we can move to BK’s favorite page first.
-
There was sarcasm in that post.
If you can find it.
Watched the animated version of Elf earlier. I always enjoy an Ed Asner musical.
I prefer Jim Parsons to Will Ferrell.
Say yes.
What was really amazing about our full houses was that the theater did not promotion for the show.
-
That was really amazing.
-
Amazing is what it was.
