Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a whole mess of Glorias, and now it is time for you to post until a whole mess of cows come home.

First after BK?

Where is Elmore?

Where was George?
-
I am very tired but trying to wake up by drinking some coffee
-
I have emptied the dishwasher and put away the dishes
-
And refilled the dishwasher
-
And made coffee
-
And read notes
-
So I have accomplished something
-
I don’t care what anyone says
-
Oh geez I still have to pack my bag for the weekend
-
And get gas
-
I guess I can’t loll about

Or hurkle durkle

TOD
Nothing.
Earlier this week we watched the first couple of Ghost Stories for Christmas in Volume 1 of the BFI sets I finally acquired. I’d never seen any of these, and I’m enjoying getting to know them.

I think that song has almost as many GLORIAs as singdaw's Gloria excel sheets.

Something I never knew as Casey Kasem never brought it up at the time was Branigan’s Gloria was a remake of an Italian song by Umberto Tozzi.

AHA!
-
DR FREDDIE - GLYNIS was only on for three or four months and then it disappeared from the CBS schedule.
I also like the movie that DR RON PULLIAM mentioned - No Highway In the Sky with Glynis, James Stewart, and Marlene Dietrich.
I remember reading about a troublesome three shot that had Stewart in the middle and both Johns and Dietrich wanted to be photographed from the same side......I forget how the problem was solved.....but my guess is that Dietrich got her way.

Slept the sleep of the dead last night.
Dreamed pleasantly.
Was so happy when I woke up. Less so when I got out of bed and realized, by feeling, just how old I am.
Oof.
-
I am no closer to getting ready for a new refrigerator purchase than I was two days ago when I ventured out to find one.
I know what I want, but the danged cabinet (unusable in its current configuration) is not going to go easily. I may need a carpenter.
The specs on the unit I want requires a one-inch clearance above if there is a cabinet. As it stands, there is NO clearance with the old unit, so....
Sigh.

I found the TV show's wikipedia page, and it says they brought reruns back - in 1965 though the original run was in 1963! - for a summer replacement slot and it did pretty well as a summer replacement.
"In 1965, when CBS brought the series back in reruns as a summer replacement for The Lucy Show, Glynis ranked #6 in the Nielsen ratings."
Maybe TV viewers were more interested in Glynis Johns after MARY POPPINS in 1964?

I am disturbingly congested this morning, and my nose is running.
Yes, I am blowing my nose, but too frequently according to me.
With my pending upstate trip tomorrow (family gathering at Cousin Ashley's home in Simpsonville SC), I am a bit concerned.
There will be a lot of kids there, as well, and I don't want to catch anything more than I already have nor do I wish to spread anything I might currently have.

Good Morning - the boys let me sleep as long as I wanted. So, I didn't get out of bed until 9:30am. It was a late night. I don't know what made me want to do this, but I started watching the first "Downton Abbey" movie at 10:45pm last night - and didn't get to bed until almost 1:00am. Anyway.....
Tonight is the talent show rehearsal, that should be fun.

A six-DVD set of Disney Christmas movies came in yesterday. I’m starting with the so far, so bad The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. CGI and dreariness. Misty Copland is supposed to be in it.

Others in the set include The Muppet Christmas Carol and Disney’s Christmas Carol, both of which I want to see again.

Tomorrow at Pathway to Crystals my sister Myrna, my sister Molly, and I are having a Read-O-rama...a 15 minute reading for $20.
The event in November was a great success.....so we shall see what happens tomorrow. I hope we are as popular with the populace as we were in the Fall.
-
I am horrified by the link that DR FREDDIE posted.
I had already read about the Frances Farmer musical and went to the website.....and there are a couple of videos on YouTube, I think that's where I saw them.
I know that former DR JMK is having a production of his musical about FF coming up soon - but my feelings about that are not worth repeating.

"I am horrified by the link that DR FREDDIE posted"
That's the title of a killer ballad from our new "Nightmare on Elm Street" musical.

So I spent Twelfth Night watching the last of the Christmas movies.
-
I going to start The Molly Maguires, which I have never seen, but I love the soundtrack BK released.
-
I apparently have missed a lot of Martin Ritt movies that I have been catching up on in the last few years.
-
In the last few years, I have seen The Brotherhood, Nuts, Murphy’s Romance and Paris Blues. The library has a few more I haven’t seen, including Hombre and Pete ‘n Tille, which BK loved.

Maybe after a few minutes of The Molly Maguires, I’ll dream of operating on people’s hands with coal miners as backups.

Well, rehearsal went fine. I'll need to write in my lyrics onto my sheet music as I forgot some of them, even though I remembered everything when I went over it at home with the piano before I left. The girl who is singing something from "Smash" wasn't there, for rehearsal - the one song that I REALLY needed to go over with her before rehearsal tonight. Hopefully she'll be well and EARLY tomorrow so we can go over it. Of course, it's overly written and in a bad key (F#) at the end. I'm sure it will be fine. There's some good talent in the show, it will be a fun evening.
-
Michael Caine is a magnificent Scrooge.
That movie works best if the sequence where he sings “The Love is Gone” with his past girlfriend is included. They cut the song from the theatrical run, it showed up on the first VHS and subsequently was cut again, to people’s outrage. I think it’s restored in newer releases. Anyway, great moment from one of Caine’s best performances.
