Well, you've read the notes, the notes were late night and a dog, and now it is time for you to post until the late night cows come home.

And the word of the day is: UPROARIOUS!

Thanks for the movie clip last night, DR Rodzinski.

Good morning, friends.

What the kitties get up to once DR elmore3003 is asleep:
-
Good morning, all!
-
After spending the day lying about and dozing, I slept rather well. Thatch and Stella stayed with me. I have no idea where Annabelle slept, but I'm suspecting the bathroom, since it's the warmest room in the apartment.
-
I had a peculiar dream: I was back in my parents' house on Goldman Avenue, my brother Randy was about 15 years old, and this man showed up at our door looking for my father. I was occupied with a desk covered in songbooks and telephones, trying to find a phone number for Palsons on West 72nd Street in Manhattan. While Randy held the door open to talk to the man, Thatch and Stella ran out onto the porch and then headed for the street. As Thatch played on the lawn of 3002 Goldman Avenue, I gave Randy hell for letting them out and he said he would get them. I went back yo my phone books.
-
This morning at 10:00 I have an important phone call about the ballet in March.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I have time for only this quick hello, because I must run off and get ready for what amounts to an all day rehearsal and concert.
-
To be followed by a rush to get home before the S**W starts!
-
Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Continuing today with episodes of Fellow Travelers.

At some point soon, I'd also like to see Barbie and Oppenheimer.
-
Not necessarily in that order.
-
Saturday morning greetings! It’s snowing like crazy here and I’ve just opted out of driving to Middletown for a morning meeting.

At some point soon, I'd also like to see Barbie and Oppenheimer.
We watched both over New Year’s weekend.

I am up, groomed, dressed and ready to travel.
I feel much better this morning.
-
My next "home" project will have to be the electrical system! I hate to say it, but I think it's inevitable.
The outside wall of my den was powerless this morning. TV wouldn't work, etc. I flipped the switch on the electrical panel and all was restored. But something tripped it, and I am betting it has to do with the electrical work done under the house earlier this month with the dehumidifier and sump pump installations.
My kitchen power was unaffected on the outside wall and that is adjacent to my den. Sigh.
-
I hope everyone has a jolly Saturday.
-
And on that note....

AHA! It's Saturday.
I am ready to go.....but I don't have to leave for about two hours, so I am on the internet.
-
We had some great links and photos on HHW yesterday.
DR JANE's photos and information about the railroad box cars was very interesting.....even though it is a part of the vast left wing conspiracy to keep Heil Trump out of the White House where he belongs.

Modern Major Miracle & continued writing vibes for MR BK.
I am looking forward to the Monday ZOOM festival.
-
Rehearsal & show vibes for DR CHAS SMITH & DR MATTHEW.

MR BK please remember that FrancEs Farmer is spelled with the feminine "e" not the masculine "i".
In French - Francoise NOT Francois.
-
All of my teams won their games last night - it was most exciting.
And tonight we have Ohio State vs. Indiana (Elmore's Ballet) University.
-
Rodzinski - Thanks for that David Soul clip of one of his UK hits!
-
Travel vibes for DR RON PULLIAM.
-
I have only read JMK's musical and heard a bit of the music.....he wrote it several years ago.
I just don't think the story lends itself to musicalization - but I could definitely be wrong.
He is coming from a different direction than the NYC musical is and he has a better hook.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Work dreams last night. No miners. Boring nonetheless.
-
DR Rodzinski, the version of Muppet Christmas Carol I watched yesterday did not have the Love Is Gone in the right spot, only in the credits. The first time I saw the movie it was in there. And yes, it’s needed.
Just like Winter Was Warm is needed in Magoo’s Christmas Carol.
-
I do not want to stir today. Or shake.
-
We got a bit of sn*w last night......about an inch on the lawn, but just a bit of slush on the streets.
More is expected tonight.....
-
Sorry to hear about David Soul.
I first remember him from Here Come The Brides! Such a fun show.
And of course he was the masked singer before that for a year on The Merv Griffin Show.....and given Mr. Merv's reputation one wonders how it got the gig.
-
And of course Starsky & Hutch!
I have one of his LPs. Perhaps I will play it tonight.

So, I had a telephonic conversation booked for 10:00. At 9:30, I got an email that they were running errands because of the predicted storm. I sat at the computer until 11:30 waiting for them to call. I just sent an email trying to be civil but saying I had other thngs to do than wait around for a call so let's try for tomorrow at 10:00. I deleted my comment that I had wasted enough time waiting and why didn't they let meknow last night?
Just pisses me off.

Just like Winter Was Warm is needed in Magoo’s Christmas Carol.
That’s right, they cut the song but because they’d thought enough if it to have some country singer record it for radio, they still include it in the credits where it’s completely out of place!

Got a pot of pumpkin soup on the stove.

The soup is supposed to be orange and it has a small sweet potato and carrot in it. But the pumpkin has white flesh, so maybe kinda potato-y.

Have you had squash soup?

It’s orange
-
I prefer real pumpkin to canned, which is squash. The flavor is different.

Four!

Watching Werner Herzog’s My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done. It’s based on a true story. A son kills his mother after she serves him Jello. It’s not the only reason but it’s as good as any.
-
Great cast: Michael Shannon, Chloe Sevigny, Willem Dafoe, Grace Zabriske (as the mother, of course), Loretta Devine, Irma Hall, Brad Dourif, Udo Kier, Michael Pena, more.
-
It’s orange
It looks delicous.
-

So do I. I don't think I have had canned pumpkin soup, called squash if not made with a pumpkin ;)

All canned pumpkin is actually squash.
-
There was no need to add cream or milk.
-
I was making this up. But it exists, albeit with unflavored, not orange, gelatin

It's not lime jello, is it?

I'm up, I'm up - just about eight hours of sleep.

True, but I think of pumpkins as the traditional shape vs other varieties of squash. I suppose one could say pumpkin squash just has I say hubbard squash vs hubbard ;)
-
I used to use hubbard squash for my pumpkin pies.

There was no need to add cream or milk.
Yet it probably tasted as if cream had been added.

Back. And done. That's the last musical obligation I have on my calendar till first week of March. Things can certainly pop up in February, and that'll be fine. In fact, I hope they do. But I kept the rest of January clear for the cataract procedures.

I made it back and into my garage as - literally - the first light flurries had gotten to this part of town.

You know how every doctor's office and other medical facility now has its PATIENT PORTAL that you need to sign into and activate? And of course they're all separate ones, right? Of course.
There's something weird about those, at least from the email links they send you to use for starting an account. This is the second time I've hit the link in that kind of email, when it opens the browser and I get a blank screen with only "URL not found".
Okay, so I had it open the other browser in case that was the problem. (Because lately with Safari that sometimes IS the problem.) No go. Same message.
Last ditch attempt: I copied the (invisible) link into the clipboard, opened the browsers manually, pasted the link in, and ........ no go. There is no URL in that link.
So you know what? Fuck 'em.

I'm back at home after a full day of family and food and (some) fun.
I am also extremely sore. Sharon knows lots of back roads to take to get places, but the roads were very bumpy and jarring this go-around. I must have tensed up quite a bit during the road there, and back again, because I am so very sore right now.
We had low country boil for our delicious meal. For those not familiar, it's a combination of corn on the cob, potatoes, shrimp and scallops. Our host did the cooking and used quite a few potent seasonings.
For dessert, we had red velvet cake, caramel cake and pound cake.
There were 20 of us, and we had a very nice time catching up.
-
I am glad I am home, and I shall be retiring early, believe me.

Went to see Wonka this evening. Figured the kids might enjoy it. They did. Me? Well my expectations were low, but I did like the Paddington movies so gave it a shot. Chalamet was ok, inoffensive but missing the wit and menace. Still better than Depp’s Wonka, one of the worst performances ever.
All told I’d give it a B. Weird that they used some of the Newley-Bricusse songs or at least the music.

The villains were so hateful. Rather Dickensian in their evil.

I did like the secondary characters a good deal. The lead little girl was perfect.

The corruption of police and the Catholic Church was well-portrayed.
-
I found a complete video of the original production of Man of La Mancha - but I'm pretty sure it's not Kiley and Irving Jacobson in it.
That would still be cool.
-
Is it online, or was it procured?

Went to see Wonka this evening. Figured the kids might enjoy it. They did. Me? Well my expectations were low, but I did like the Paddington movies so gave it a shot. Chalamet was ok, inoffensive but missing the wit and menace. Still better than Depp’s Wonka, one of the worst performances ever.
All told I’d give it a B. Weird that they used some of the Newley-Bricusse songs or at least the music.
I kind of want to see it, but in the couple of clips that I had seen (granted, they were very short clips), Timothée only had one look on his face and it seemed like he should've been expressing different emotions. :-\

Just my quick take on the quick clips.

I've never heard of him or them.

Hi George!
-
Hi, Rodzinski!
-
Yeah I never saw the dude in a movie before so I don’t know from where he gets his fame, but he didn’t show great range. Not terrible, but not electrifying. Kinda slight.
-
High Grant’s Oompa Loompa is enjoyable but also kinda peripheral.

I think his first big break was in Call Me By Your Name with the now ostracized Armie Hammer.
-
He was also in the new remake of Dune, that only part one has been released.
-
I think part two is supposed to be released this year...I think.
-
Gratuitous Post #200!! :D
-
Yes, Dune: Part Two (https://m.imdb.com/title/tt15239678/reference/) will be released March 1, 2024.
-
I haven't seen part one (https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1160419/reference/), but I don't doubt that they'll bring that back to the theaters so people can have the "full" Dune experience, since that was released back in 2021.
-
I'd like to see the whole thing...possibly in a 2-fer marathon.
-
Today, I had to go to TAO's theater space (https://www.olytheater.com/) to let in the lighting designer so that he could enter his lighting designs into the board.
-
Tomorrow, we're having the paper tech with the designers at 11:00 a.m., then the cue-to-cue with the actors at 1:00 p.m.
-
You are a lighting facilitator.
-
I don't know if we'll run the whole show after that or not, but I'll find out soon enough.

You are a lighting facilitator.
I do what I can.
