Well, you've read the notes, the notes had an appendage, and now it is time for you to post until the appendage-laden cows come home.

Good morning, friends.

Don't let the bedbugs bite.

Appendage. What a funny word.
-
Good morning, all.
-
My APPENDAGE was taken out when I was eight.

The Berlin episode, right? Breathtaking! What an incredible scene.

I woke at a ridiculous hour this morning and stubbornly laid there till 8:00.
As soon as I stirred, of course, the feline contingent voiced his approval.
-
This morning I made the scrambled eggs with a little too much cheese, I think.
But I am not complaining.

Pete 'n' Tillie does not appear to be streaming anywhere.

That’s better than making the scrambled cheese with a little too much egg.
-
Good morning, all!

Too damned warm in this apartment today, I slept very poorly. Around 6:30 I dressed, lay down and woke at 8:00.
-
The cats were very good and did not pester me while I slept.

It snowed, but not nearly as much as they were predicting.

I think the extreme cold inhibits snow.

I'm not a meteorologist, but I play one on teevee.
-
Last night I watched the Netflix remake of The Boys in the Band with the cast of the last Broadway revival, which I wish I'd seen. I didn't like the play much in 1968, and my opinion hasn't changed. The first half is very camp and funny, and then it all goes maudlin and turns into the birthday party from hell, and I sotp believing these men would stay to put up with the host's bullshit. The one thing I do admire about the script is that the playwright never offers a solution to the enigmatic character of Alan and the reason for his arrival.

DR Jrand73.... Luka says "hello"!

Trying Togo back to sleep
At least someone remembers sandwich chain restaurant Togo’s!
-
Pete 'n' Tillie does not appear to be streaming anywhere.
That’s the modern world for ya. Pete is streaming on Paramount+ but Tillie is available only on Hulu.
-
Thank you Singdaw and John H. I don’t even remember falling asleep, but clearly I did and was no help with late-night posts.
-
Don't let the bedbugs bite.
Could the dog have left BK with fleas?
-
15 degrees here. At least the wind has died down. Will warm up into the 20s today.
-
How does that proverb go?
If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.
-
I think that's how it goes.
-
Bruce: Fleas are a distinct possibility, especially given the "house guest" you recently had for a couple of weeks.
It only takes a flea or two to set up shop in a rug or other warm place and exponential reproduction can lead to a nest of hungry biters.
I suggest getting some home treatment ASAP.
-
It is nineteen degrees here with sn*w on the ground.....but not much....the grass is still easy to see underneath.
-
Good morning.
I hope it is Saturday where you all are, because it IS Saturday here in the CSRA (that stands for the Central Savannah River Area).
And today is birthday day for one 3-year-old cutie I call "Audrey James" ('cause that's her first and middle name).
She also know that she will have a brother come May...and his name will be (at present) Levi Judge Moore. My cousin Becky loves coming up with names, so we'll see if she sticks with this one.
-
Thanks DR singdaw.....Luka has lots of T E E T H.
-
Manchester City is playing on NBC at 12:30 p.m. today, so I shall watch.
-
I say 1958!
-
At any rate, because her birthday is so soon after Christmas, the gifts are requested to be modest...possibly a bond or something to put into her college fund...and NO STUFFED TOYS 'cause her bedroom overflows with them.
-
I did not know this problem with stuffed toys when I bought her a very cute bunny with floppy ears.
I have been forgiven by the parents, and Audrey loves her bunny.
-
It is currently 42 degrees in Johnston. It is clear and sunny. Expected high will be 49 degrees. Low tonight will be 31 degrees.
The severe storms we were warned to expect yesterday did not hit us. We had wind and rain. Happily, no tornado activity in my vicinity.
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR Ron, I accept bonds, too.
-
And the word of the day is: ELYSIAN!
One could say that my daughter is ELYSIAN.
Her name is Elyse.😊
A lovely name.
-
I say 1958!
I’ll see your bid and raise you 20: 1978.
-
DR Ron, I accept bonds, too.
Rope or chains?
Or friendship type?
-
Good one.
-
Three!
-
This morning I made the scrambled eggs with a little too much cheese, I think.
But I am not complaining.
You should mention your concern to the chef, though.
Oh, you ARE the chef.
-
I need to start getting in plants and winterizing the outside pipes.
-
It’s going from 76 the other day to 17.
-
At any rate, because her birthday is so soon after Christmas, the gifts are requested to be modest...possibly a bond or something to put into her college fund...and NO STUFFED TOYS 'cause her bedroom overflows with them.
As she gets older, won't she feel cheated having her birthday so close to Christmas?

Likely, although she is so darned cute she won't lack for attention.
I have a cousin born on Dec. 22nd...and I have always felt sorry for him as he didn't get the parties that his sister did (i.e., Christmas isn't conducive for birthday parties with school friends).

In just a couple years we’ve lost Bill Hayes and Billie Hayes.

DR Ron, the avalanche of stuffed toys is real. I had to abandon my bed this morning because the kids brought in 30 or so of their collection.

Wacky Packages were great fun. My sisters’ bedroom door was covered in them and was still like that when we moved out of that house a decade later. (Along with a sticker of Esther Rolle from “Good Times.”)

From DR Iris:
Heavy rain and wind here, but temps in the 50’s, 20 degrees above normal.
It might be another winter that Maryland weather is better than our weather.
-
After reading all the news reports regarding the "big" storm in Wisconson, and that power was out all over the state including Milwaukee, I text Bryan to ask if they had power and heat. He had no clue what I was talking about. They barely had snow. ;D

So far we have only warmed up to 16 degrees.
-
Our early morning freezing rain turned to snow about an hour ago.

So far the snow isn't too heavy and is just beginning to stick to the grass.
-
The hard surfaces where we walk or drive are covered, and we plan to stay home today.

I doubt she will at this age. I think it was easier to go all out for Bryan's Dec 23rd birthday being before Christmas. Maybe asking for a donation to a college fund would have been a better idea, if only we had set up college funds for the kids.

Watching What Happens Next, a romcom with and directed by Meg Ryan. David Duchovny is her costar. It’s pleasant, but it’s more about star power than anything else.

This review summarizes the movie perfectly: “ What Happens Later” doesn't reach the heights of Ryan’s beloved romantic comedies, but its sweet comforts might be just the ticket if you’re looking for laughter-through-tears on the couch on a Sunday afternoon.

Yes! When I was watching that Richard was across the hall and could only hear her singing. He said, “She must be really mad at somebody!”

I use a much nicer, larger version of this at the gym. This one stacks up to 8", the same as what I use at the gym. This being a bit smaller I decided to reduce the heighth a little bit.

DR John G., thought you might find this tidbit interesting:
On March 3, the Basel Sinfonietta presents "#Metoo, Hitchcock," the world premiere of a new film score by Moritz Eggert for Alfred Hitchcock’s silent film classic "Blackmail." It will be conducted by new Principal Conductor Titus Engel, whose October debut in Basel and two guest appearances at the Ruhrtriennale in Bochum drew rave reviews and sold-out houses. The premiere will take place as part of the 3rd subscription concert at Burghof Lörrach (Germany). The concert will be recorded as a co-production with ZDF/ARTE and 2eleven music film and broadcast on ARTE at a later date.

Beautiful, DR elmore3003! I was not aware of this song cycle. Thank you. Janet Baker sounds sublime.

I swear my office is the coldest room here. I have a travel clock with a thermastat that says it is 64 degrees. Our main thermastat is set at 68 degrees.

It looks like her rendition is on an album paired with Jacqueline du Pre's rendition of the cello concerto.

Birthday party is over and was a rousing success for a three-year-old.
They had tons of kids and adults, a bounce house with slide (!!), hot dogs with all the trimmings includign chili, a huge cake and vanilla ice cream.
We elder adults caught up, met new folks and had a good time. The kids went completely bonkers.
I got home around 4 p.m. I have napped and am fairly well rested up.
Such a departure from my normal day!
-
I think I've mentioned this before, but living in an apartment building, the radiant heat from the other units means that we never have to turn on our own heat all winter, even when it's 0 outside.
-
That sounds like a delightful day, DR Ron Pulliam. Including, but not limited to, the nap.
-
My favorite classical piece is Elgar's "Enigma Variations". My preferred performance is Sir John Barbirolli performed by the Philharmonia.
Bought LP in London in November 1973. I have listened to "other" performances, but all suffer by comparison to my ears.
-

Most especially!!!

There are apparently lots of great stories about Barbirolli as a conductor.

In my apartment in Vicenza, Italy (1973-75), I was cold almost all winter. That was because the heat was only turned on during the day when I was at work. They didn't mind me paying my portion of the heating bill, but I never benefitted from the heat.
In my apartment in Naples, Italy (1975-77), I had a ground floor apartment...BUT, the basement of the building was a laundry. I was NEVER cold and my heating bill was practically nothing.
-
Birthday party is over and was a rousing success for a three-year-old.
It sounds like great fun.

My office is the coldest room as I have two outside walls.

It seems to me it should have been in reverse, with the heat off during the day and on at night.

One more.

PAGE SEVEN!

Beautiful, DR elmore3003! I was not aware of this song cycle. Thank you. Janet Baker sounds sublime.
' i
Baker's recording of Elgar's five "Sea Pictures" is definitive.
-
Hey, Jrand:
-
DR Ginny how are you today? Has your reaction to the meds improved? Is your covid improving?
Yes to both. Well, my reaction hasn’t gotten worse, anyway. Richard and I are both sounding better.
Great news, Ginny!
-
DR Jane, many many years ago I used to do a step class at the gym with a workout leader and pumping music. I was the only male in the class.
I pretended I was auditioning for A Chorus Line.
Or Stepping Out.
:D

Such great links today.
Glad that DR GINNY is feeling better and that DR JANE & DR RON PULLIAM are doing well ....
-
My mother was born on December 25, 1931. When she was growing up, she always received one EXTRA present on Christmas Day.

Was she happy with that?
-
My DH's mother went into labor on Dec 24th and he was born on Dec 26th.
-
The Feast of Stephen that is talked about in "Good King Wenceslas."
-
Just found out that my mother, who has been jumping through a gauntlet of medical hoops the last 2 weeks, is cleared for her (very needed) hip replacement surgery this coming week. We are all quite relieved.
-
Vibes all goes well and for a quick recovery!

Vibes for your mother's surgery!

DR Ron, the avalanche of stuffed toys is real. I had to abandon my bed this morning because the kids brought in 30 or so of their collection.
My cousin didn't get the word out to all the families at the party today. Some gave cash, but many more brought stuffed animals and dolls.

I'm going to have to expand my Elgar a bit.

I expect she was happy to receive them. We gave Freyja a stuffed fox for Chanukah. Since she was already getting a couple more stuffed animals for Christmas we didn't get her another one. I have one planned for her birthday if they didn't already get it for her.

Nighty-night!
-
Still on page seven?
-
Sigh.
-
What can one say?
-
It's a page more than page six.
-
But a page less than page eight.
-
But it's still a page.
-
A page full of posts.
-
And those posts are no less nor no more important than any other page's posts.
-
PAGE EIGHT
-
Good night, friends.
-
Vibes for Singdaw’s mom.
-
Dancing was long tonight. But fun.
-
Finished Martin Amis’s The Zone of Interest. Excellent read, if not entirely successful look at life at a concentration camp from the perspective of the commandant. Evil is banal, and it certainly fills the book. Looking forward to the movie.
-
Watching a Cannon Group movie called Maria’s Lovers. Great cast of Nastassja Kinski, Robert Mitchum, John Savage and Keith Carradine. I got it from the library because the amazing Anita Morris is in it.
-
My brother was born on Christmas day
Did he like that? Most people born on the 25th seem to like it.
No , not at all. It was always this present is for your birthday and Christmas., and he never had a kids birthday party .
Our other brother and I have summer birthdays.
-
Vixson already has too many stuffed animals, and he isn’t even born yet
-
Ginny, I am so sorry about the hives and glad you are doing better.
Sending many more vibes for rapid recovery for you and Richard
-
Today Vixdad and I went to a friends house for a D&D night.
-
It was a 6 person campaign we started last year that was suspended when one couple moved away.
It resumed tonight with 3 new players and it was a lot of fun.
There are 4 women and 3 men playing.
-
I wasn’t happy playing with the couple that moved away, well the husband was fine but the wife drove me crazy , she had this really high sing songy baby voice and it quite unreasonably drove me up a wall.
They were also very recent newlyweds so she was constantly trying to insert romance into every scenario.
When you’re fighting Orks and Ice Giants in a frozen tundra it’s no time to start getting cutesy.
😂😂😂
-
Good night,all.
-
All caught up!
-
I say no to romantic Orc fighting!
-
I am listening to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.
-
“The Car Over the Lake Album” the cover of which features a car over a lake.
-
Like so…
-
They had one giant hit in the ‘70s that sounds nothing like anything else they ever did. (“Jackie Blue”)
-
They are mostly a skilled country rock/bluegrass band.
-
Relaxing sounds.
-
A balmy 22 degrees here.
-
Good evening.
-
I just had a whirlwind trip to Burbank.
-
It's not as exciting as it sounds.
-
Really.

New notes are up.
