Well, I could slog on and try to finish the book but I don't want to stay up until five or six. so I'll finish it tomorrow when I'm fresh. I did write forty pages, which may be a record, although I know I've at least done close to that in the final lap.

Lovely review - everyone should go read it.

Good morning, all!
-
Sice my apartment is usually the warmest in the building, I am aghast that we have no heat this morning, I wanted to snuggle with A & T under the blankets and never get up.
-
This is a day of trivial errands: call the pharmacy and several other important organizations.

Good morning

DR JohnG, Bartlett Sher's South Pacific was wonderful, his Fiddler on the Roof could have been better, and he made the same mistake with My Fair Lady that everyone now does with Candide: My Fair Lady is not Shaw's Pygmalion, and the comic operetta Candide is not Voltaire's. I satill cannot explain the drag queens in "Get Me To the Church on Time" any more than I can explain why Eliza tells Higgins at his mother's home that she will never see him again before running back to Higgins' house to walk out again.

Well, it’s a bright sunny Monday morn’, and by this afternoon we’ll supposedly be out of this deep freeze.
Naturally, that will bring us yet more rain or a mix, aren’t we lucky.

Agree with your take on My Fair Lady. I had no desire to see My Fairmaglion.
-
I like bow tie pasta - and elbow macaroni......but of course my diet forbids ANY pasta.....and I certainly miss it.

Especially since the youngish actor playing Higgins was directed to show that he really had fallen for Eliza.

It rained all night and the temperature kept rising. It’s now 48 with an expected high of 59 today.

Monday morning greetings! Since January 5 I have been out of the house only 5 times and only got out of the car at the doctor’s office last Thursday. Can you say “cabin fever”?

This afternoon we’re going to do some errands and go out to eat. It’s a start…

I'm up, I'm up - four hours of sleep - just too much in the cranium to fall back asleep, so I'll futz and finesse yesterday's forty pages and mush on from there.

My rain gauge says it rained an inch overnight. I don’t quite believe it, given the standing water in both front and back yards. My friends tell me they got 4 inches. They’re less than 10 miles away.

Is that good news on the publisher, Elmore? It sounds good.

Listening to a waiter’s memoir, Your Table Is Ready. It’s good, but I am losing interest. I left it for a few days to listen to Black AF History, which was fascinating.

I may not like green sweets but green spinach fettuccine is my favorite pasta.

The first time I ever had spinach fettuccine was on a date with Keith at Andre's of Beverly Hills restaurant. They served us each a little bowl of it with a marinara sauce.

Bruce or Jeanne do you remember eating at Andre's and being served the fettucini dish?

Been thinking of San Diego. It's been about 25 years since I was there. Loved going to the beach at the Coronado Hotel, which had been used as a backdrop for one of my favorite movies about movies, The Stunt Man.

I always loved the hotel. I kind of stayed there. My parents stayed there and put my brother, sister, & I in a motel in the town. From breakfast until after dinner we were at the hotel.
-
My sister & I shared a room while my brother was next door. Typical of my sister, she wanted to go out late at night when we should have been going to sleep. Never one to say no to my sister I just made enough noise so my brother heard us, came out of his room and ordered back into our room. Since he was in charge, and he would have told on her, she listened.

I definitely ate at Andre's but I'm not sure I ever had the fettuccine.
-
Futzed and finessed what I wrote this morning and then sent the pages to Muse Margaret.
-
I'm thinking about making a series of cuts in one section, but I wanted the Muse to read it the way I wrote it first.
-
Then it was the belated birthday meal at BJ's in Burbank. I had a lunch special - one smallish fried chicken breast in country gravy, mashed potatoes and some corn thing. It was really good. I also had a cup of clam chowder. It really wasn't that much food, but boy was I full. Then it was their famous pizzookie, chocolate chip. I could only manage half of it. I feel ever so disgusting right now.
-

I remember Andre’s!
-
Here’s a fun story, not written by me.
“The only real memory I have of the Beverly Hills Andre’s was one time my family was there, dining with some wealthy friends who were paying. We were waiting for the valet to bring us our car for a fee roughly equal to the cost of a complete lasagna dinner at the other Andre’s. Suddenly, about six limousines converged on the place, and official-looking men jumped out and began clearing the way for the passenger from one. It was Robert Kennedy. I waved to him and he waved back.”
-
Nice shared story.

Page Five.
-
The first time that I had that linguine with seafood dish was at Carmine’s on Santa Monica Blvd.
We loved that restaurant.
It’s just up the street from the enormous Mormon Temple.

I spent many a winter there with my aunt and uncle, who rented a place at Coronado Shores for 4 months, just to get away from Baltimore.
Such a charming town.

I definitely ate at Andre's but I'm not sure I ever had the fettuccine.
I am referring to the fancy restaurant vs the quick one that is still there. They simply gave you a fettuccine, maybe when they served a plate of bread.

LOL, I read that today when I was searching for something about their spinach fettuccini.

Jane, you have a great memory.
I found this article when I was going through my favorite L.A. restaurants.
“It was so long ago when a date took me to Andre’s fine dining on a date, then considered “the” place in Beverly Hills, all I remember – as though it was yesterday – was the ritual and what I was wearing (A “little black dress” with matching short jacket lined in teal, and high heels, of course. But, ah, what impressive ritual! First to arrive was the huge platter of antipasti— then a salad – then spinach noodles with red sauce – then the entrée.”
-
You found it. THANK YOU :)
-
I forgot about the platter of antipasti.
-
Keith took me to Andre's a number of times, and then we stopped going there on dates as his parents began taking both of us there. The wait staff was just as nice to us at seventeen as they were when we went with his parents.

I just booked my ticket for Greece.

-
Tonight, I went to my mom's house.
-
She needed help with her vacuum sealer, so I helped her.
-
Fortunately, it works really well, so it was a matter of reminding her the order of events that need to happen when sealing foodstuffs in the vacuum-seal bags.
-
She had frozen some uncooked meatloafs, some taco meat, and spaghetti sauces for me to take home and put in my freezer.
-
And before I went over to her house, I went through my freezer and threw out foodstuffs that were too darned old (and there were some). ::)
-
This is what my freezer looks like now:
-
Gratuitous Post #200!! :D
-
I don't have a "before" picture, but here's the door of the freezer:
-
The items in foil in the door are Costco muffins. :)
-
The Keto mint chocolate chip ice cream is not too bad, and only has nine (9) net grams of carbs for the whole pint!
-
Here's the thing: I do not care for page seven.
-
Just in case anyone was wondering.
-
What's the use of wondering?
-
What's the use of page seven?
-
That's definitely worth it since a single serving (2/3 cup) of a regular ice cream that I had had, had had 32 grams of carbs...one serving!
-
Shouldn't we be on page eight?
-
32 Grams of Carbs - that's the title of my next novel.
-
Are we there yet, BK? It's me, George.
;D
-
Page eight.
