Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wide and wonderful, and now it is time for you to post until the wonderful wide, wide cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JANNOCK!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Butterflies tacos are free.
-
.
-
I'll be doing a puzzle of a corn chip whilst wrapped in bubble wrap.
-
TOD: I only saw Angela Lansbury live in one role: Mrs. Lovett.
I also love her recording of Gypsy.
-
~~~CONTINUED MULTIPLE MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!
-
I just saw an online video of "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" at Disneyland, and it made me nostalgic for the times my family visited the Magic Kingdom growing up.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept relatively well last night, which was the first time in several days.
-
Today I will do some more tax work, assembling all my receipts. Hopefully, tomorrow will be my first day of printing all of my online receipts. That will yake several days to accomplish.
-
TOD
I think I've only seen Lansbury onstage in Sweeney Todd, which I saw six times, and Blithe Spirit.
In film:
The Manchurian Candidate
The World of Henry Orient
The Company of Wolves
The Harvey Girls
The Long Hot summer
-
;)
-
Good morning, all.
-
;)
True, but nasty. And again, true.
-
TOD:
I had the pleasure of seeing Angela Lansbury live in "Blithe Spirit" when the touring company came to San Francisco!
-
TOD:
Never got to see La Lansbury live.
Movies:
The Pirates of Penzance
The Manchurian Candidate
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
The Company of Wolves
Gaslight
The Court Jester
Beauty and the Beast
-
I have enjoyed Lansbury in many movies and TV shows except, sadly, for "Mrs. Santa Claus." That wasn't her fault, of course.
In addition to those films DR John G. listed, I'll add "The Picture of Dorian Gray", "The Harvey Girls" and "Samson and Delilah".
And, of course, her last film appearance: "The Glass Onion".
-
I have had a weekend of splendiferous sleep and do-nothing-at-all activity.
My sciatic twinges are nearly gone again, which is good news. It is absolutely beautiful here, and is 48 degrees.
Nice change from high 70s on Friday and Saturday.
-
Things I am going to do today:
Go to Post Office.
Pay my yard man for the work he did for me on Friday (when I was out getting my Dupixent shots).
Watch the third episode of "True Detective: Night Country"
And, possibly, re-watch "Saltburn".
-
Notes bifurcated. Valved.
-
TOD: Mame cast lp.
-
I just saw an online video of "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" at Disneyland, and it made me nostalgic for the times my family visited the Magic Kingdom growing up.
Rode it last year. Still very fun.
TOD: The Court Jester
-
Good morning, all.
-
I never saw Angela Lansbury live.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
As much as I keeping thinking that has to be an erroneous statement, I'm afraid it's true.
-
And that's the truth, Ruth.
-
I am still intrigued by If, If Iphigenia.
-
Monday and January is slipping away from us.
-
Page Two.
-
I also only saw Miss Angela Lansbury on film and television.
Favorites - most already mentioned:
The Manchurian Candidate - Why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire? Still a shocking moment!
Gaslight
Mrs. 'arris Goes to Paris
The Court Jester
Samson & Delilah
Dear Heart
Harlow
Not only do I nor alphabetize my spice rack…I don’t even have a spice rack
-
My spices are in cabinets ..all over the kitchen.
-
It’s sheer chaos I tell you
-
Cooking is an adventure of searching through cabinets and slamming doors
-
But what is life without adventure.
-
Today we are about to embark on the adventure of locating a local BJs and hunting for the elusive inexpensive but sturdy shelving units
-
The thrills never end I tell you!
I really enjoyed Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at the Magic Kingdom in the 1990s.
But the, next time we went, the ride was no longer there.
-
I'm up, I'm up - four-and-a-half hours of sleep. Ridic but too much swimming around in the head.
-
I saw Miss Lansbury in Gypsy, Sweeney Todd (twice), and Blithe Spirit. I sat close to her when I saw The Wiz. And shared an elevator with her after some opening night at the Ahmanson.
From DR Jrand:
DR JANE I am glad you found the charm you wanted.
Thank you though it wasn't really what I wanted. I just finally compromised and got it.
-
My sciatic twinges are nearly gone again, which is good news.
Excellent news!
Not only do I nor alphabetize my spice rack…I don’t even have a spice rack
I have a beautiful wood spice rack which was a birthday present from a dear friend when I was 22 (?). We didn't have a place for it here and, sadly, it is in our storage room.
I did keep that spice rack alphabetize. Spices kept in drawers or cabinets are not alphabetized. They are kept in a convenient order for using, with the ones used the most up front.
-
I am still intrigued by If, If Iphigenia.
Ha!
-
I think of all her work, Angela is at her best on Prettybelle. What a whacked out piece of work. Thanks to BK for providing this on CD. (OK, you can argue for Sweeney, Mame, Cora or Gypsy. Proof of her copious gifts.)
Page 3 is so close.
I can almost see page 3 from here.
Enjoy them!
I used to have a shirt made of bamboo that was quite comfortable to wear.
I love my new Cozy Earth bamboo sheets. What did you buy?
We had an old set from Cariloha we liked, except they kept shrinking even though I was careful. Now I am extra careful, only washing the sheets in cold water and drying them on delicate using wool dryer balls to soften them, and reduce the wrinkles.
-
Wool dryer balls.
Watched an hour-long documentary about filmmaker Pierre Etaix (you pronounce the x). He started with Tati on Mon oncle, then went on to direct his own films.
-
His collaborator and cowriter was Jean-Claude Carrier, who was working with Bunuel at the same time on his films.
-
I don’t know how this will affect my dreams. I don’t want to think about it.
-
Monday is moving right along.
I got a State Farm Insurance renewal for Petey the PT.....BUT the tear off portion doesn't match the windows in the envelope in order to mail the payment.
I have tried every which way and looked at every other page included.
It is a mystery and I will make a trip to the agency tomorrow to solve this dilemma.
-
DR John did you see my post, and question, about your new sheets?
DR JANE it's downtown on Main Street about a block from sister Molly's house - just a hop a skip and a jump.
-
I went down to visit my knee-replaced brother. He seems to be doing okay. It's been six days since the surgery.
He is in some pain....but he has some medication and recovery time is about six weeks, they tell him.
He declares that he is going to mow my yard next summer because he kept watching me all last year and it inspired him to get his new knees so he could get around as well as I do....
-
But I won't hold him to that.
Since I was encouraged by the dear readers here to get a self-propelled mower - it has been a comparative breeze.
Watching a movie called His Double Life with Roland Young and Lillian Gish. It’s based on Arnold Bennett’s Buried Alive, which was also the basis of Yip Harburg and Jule Styne’s Darling of the Day.
I saw this on the big screen once, at the Gish Theater in Bowling Green, Ohio.
-
Which they’ve since changed the name to something else due to Lillian Gish having acted in Birth of a Nation!
-
And how can we forget her Mommy Fortuna in The Last Unicorn?
I've never seen that. ::)
BK did you ever see anything at the Carthay Circle Theatre? Was that still showing movies in your lifetime?
Watching a movie called His Double Life with Roland Young and Lillian Gish. It’s based on Arnold Bennett’s Buried Alive, which was also the basis of Yip Harburg and Jule Styne’s Darling of the Day.
Wasn’t Roland Young the pits?
However Darling of the Day will always remind me of an evening with Elmore where we saw that show as part of the Musicals in Mufti series on the east side.
I still have a cd he burned me of the original cast recording with Vincent Price.
I still have a cd he burned me of the original cast recording with Vincent Price.
I have that CD, also. My favorite song is "Not on Your Nellie." ;D
-
I gotta listen again.
-
I watched a bit of the 1928 silent film “Lilac Time” on Wikipedia. Starring Colleen Moore and Gary Cooper.
-
I was led down that rabbit hole because I had a memory of this insanely ornate and detailed dollhouse I’d see as a kid at the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago.
-
Came to find out the “fairy castle” was built and donated by Colleen Moore.
-
Famous flapper actress.
-
The film featured the song “Jeannine I Dream of Lilac Time”
-
It premiered at the Carthay Circle Theatre, hence my question to BK.
-
Only half of Colleen Moore’s films survive. She did only 4 talkies.
Rodzinski, I saw two movies at the Carthay Circle - El Cid and the awful 70mm reissue version of Gone With the Wind. It was a magnificent theater. El Cid was spectacular.
