Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fixed, and now it is time for you to post until the fixed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AMALGAMATE!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Great cover, BK, and I can't wait to read it!

Great book cover, BK!
-
TOD
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle
The Flintstones
The Jetsons
-
Good morning, all!
-
BK, the book sounds good! I still have to get the last one, which I've wanted to read since it was announced. Soon, I promise.
-
I slept badly. My legs ached and behaved badly all night. I'm glad the cats behaved. They were quiet until around 6:00, then I could hear knocks, things rolling, the window blinds getting tortured, and twelve little feet dancing around.
-
I need a trip to the bank, but I'm not sure I can go before Thursday. I may try to tie it in with a long-neglected trip to my barber.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Today is TUESDAY. Not Monday. TUESDAY.
I have to keep saying it, you see.
Rehearsal today. Don’t blow it.
-
Another beautiful clear sunny day. Hard to believe it’s still winter.
-
Eyes are great, and I’m at the point where I’m really tired of the eyedrops routine. :)
Three times a day until they’re all gone.
Well, I don’t really complain. Believe me. But it will be so fabulous when I’m past that.
-
Every dream last night was weird. And vague enough that I can’t remember more than an image here and there.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The book sounds great.....and the cover is fantastic!
Bring it on!
-
Weird dreams. One of them was about me watching a family trying to eat at a restaurant. The boy purposefully tripped the waitress while she was trying to serve, so all the food was ruined. It was on film, which the parents had to be shown. They were asked to leave and were charged for the food, which they eventually paid. They were also told they could never dine there again. The parents never disciplined the boy. The boy ended up wanting to go back, but they couldn’t and he couldn’t believe it.
-
I think it’s a political dream.
-
TOD
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle
The Flintstones
The Jetsons
I’d add Underdog to that list and Looney Tunes.
-
My favorite shorts were those worn in the early 70s, long before the detested board shorts became popular.
-
Oops. Different kind of shorts.
-
I must stir.
-
TOD:
Another vote for Rocky & Bullwinkle. And I will include The Beatles cartoon show, Lancelot Link Secret Agent, and The Little Rascals.
-
Kitty cleanup finished and Access-a-Ride trips to barber and bank scheduled for Thursday morning. Once the bed is made, I can work on my taxes.
-
TOD
Any Warner Brothers cartoons
Rocky and Bullwinkle
-
Oops. Different kind of shorts.
:)
-
Eyes are great, and I’m at the point where I’m really tired of the eyedrops routine. :)
Three times a day until they’re all gone.
Three? I had to do the three different drops four times a day!
-
That's a really excellent book cover, BK!
-
TOD: The ones I really remember are "The Flintstones" and "The Jetsons"
-
Page 2!
-
The cartoon short "One Froggy Evening" featuring Michigan J. Frog is really excellent
-
but I don't think I'd appreciated Michigan J. Frog when I was a kid.

To combine messages from George and ChasSmith:
George, it seems I do have glaucoma. So, I can no longer stare at a screen for eight hours a day. It was good to retire when I did. Baking doesn’t require looking at a screen, so it is resting my eyes.
The treatment is one eyedrop in each eye, every single night for the rest of my life. If I forget one night, I must take it in the morning.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Sorry, slept late and am behind.
-
.
-
I don't recommend eating your frozen yogurt with chopsticks, however.
-
Sorry about your eyes, DR John G.
-
I don’t eat yogurt.
-
Sorry about your eyes, DR John G.
Thank you. Screen time is about the only real adjustment. Glaucoma is very treatable these days. Unlike before.
-
Very excited about BK's new book.
-
BK, do you go into your philosophy of how you structure cabaret and one-person programs at all?
-
Fantastic news!

Oh, John! I'm sorry to hear this, but it seems glaucoma is a risk for folk of a certain age.

So sorry to hear about your eyes, John G.

Yes, there's a section on cabaret shows.

Oy! That could be really scary!

I'm still looking forward to it.

I forgot to mention, BK, how much I like the photo on the book cover.

The mixer is whirling today. So far I've made a bundt cake, walnut brownies, sugar-free brownies, two dozen cupcakes, and a batch of cream cheese mints. And a pot of soup.

Good afternoon!

Tuesday afternoon greetings! Mike from Maintenance was here, as promised, at 9am to begin putting things up on our walls. He worked for an hour and then said he’ll be back tomorrow at 1pm. It’s a start.

I kept telling my doctor about the weakness in my legs.....so I am starting physical therapy on Feb. 20.
That's what I get for complaining. :P

Not quite halfway. Still to be done are 4 items that hold other items (shadow box, small shelving unit, etc.). Getting those up will help me get some clutter under control.
-
I had the pleasure of seeing him preform at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, CT.
Keith & I had tickets to see Bye Bye Birdie, except Keith was out of town. I decided to drop the boys off to see it and pick them up. My friend suggested, since we were already in New Haven walking around, that we stop in and see if I could get a single ticket. I got a great ticket, up front near the boys.

There are also still some pictures and a mirror. And we haven’t even discussed the stained glass panel I’d like hung in the entryway window…

I have usher retraining tonight. We are in our tenth year. How did that happen?
-
In that time, I have ushered for 350 shows. How did that happen?
-
In that time, I have ushered for 350 shows. How did that happen?
Nice!
-
Some of the greats:
David Byrne’s American Utopia, before its Broadway run
Pilobolus, which is coming back soon
The former San Antonio Symphony doing Mahler’s Second (twice)
Jimmy Webb
My former classmate Joan Osborne doing an evening of Bob Dylan songs
Mavis Staples and The Blind Boys of Alabama
Garrison Keillor

Was he already well-known at that point?

The worst would be largely musicals that had no business being on stage:
Pretty Woman
An Officer and a Gentleman
An American in Paris

Four!

Time flies quickly when you are having fun.

It was 1990 and Seinfeld began in 1980, so yes :)
-
We moved back to Michigan and Craig played the same role in the school play. I was doubly glad that I took the kids to see it, and very glad I also got to see it with them.
-
When I thought I only had two tickets there was no way I could take only one of them with me.
-
I had a good breakfast at Vivian's Cafe - I had no idea it was still around, I thought they'd shuttered for good during the pandemic.
-
We moved back to Michigan and Craig played the same role in the school play. I was doubly glad that I took the kids to see it, and very glad I also got to see it with them.
That worked out great!
-
Had a chili, cheese, and onion omelet - very good. There were two completely obnoxious show-biz idiots sitting there talking loudly about all these supposed deals they had for this and that - I didn't believe a word of it. I was trying to catch titles but couldn't quite.
-
I went to Gelson's and got Diet Cokes, then picked up a large number of packages from Amazon, containing pantry items like rice, pasta, sauce, Chicken in a Biskit crackers, and stuff like that. I'm set with rice and pasta and Cream of Mushroom soup for weeks now.
-
When I got home, I began entering fixes and am now within eighty pages of being done with that. Unfortunately, Muse Margaret's cold or flu has worsened and she's too hoarse to converse, so that may unfortunately have to wait until the end of the week. I have about twenty things to run by her, so it's not that much.

Continued f'ing vibes for MR BK.
Can we say that on a family website?

Some time ago - maybe years - we had a Hellman's vs. Duke's discussion here on HHW and I was firmly in the Hellman's camp.
Two weeks ago WalMart had Duke's on sale so I bought a jar.
I am now firmly in the Duke's camp. I can't even explain the difference - but it is indeed more tasty and has a better consistency and I am completely converted to the Duke's camp.
-
The mixer is whirling today. So far I've made a bundt cake, walnut brownies, sugar-free brownies, two dozen cupcakes, and a batch of cream cheese mints. And a pot of soup.

I have completed and submitted my taxes.
-
I have usher retraining tonight. We are in our tenth year. How did that happen?
Congrats on the tenth year, John! I don't remember exactly when I started volunteering, but I'm guessing around 1995 or so, so that's the year I tell people. Close enogh.
-
In that time, I have ushered for 350 shows. How did that happen?
enough.
That's great! The WCPA now uses a volunteer management program/website that they've been using for years that can keep stats, but not for anything before that started.
-

The former San Antonio Symphony doing Mahler’s Second (twice)

Garrison Keillor
Very nice! I've seen so many performers over the years, too.
The Manhattan Transfer
Gregory Hines
Tony Bennett
Natalie Cole
The Pointer Sisters
Judy Collins (at least twice)
Lily Tomlin
And many, many more!
-
Nothing pre-Broadway has come to the WCPA, though.

DR JANE I am glad you got to see BBB with the boys.
Thanks. In the year that we lived there we went to many shows. There was an excellent Japanese restaurant we ate dinner at before going to the theater. While we enjoyed everything we saw there, BBB was the most memorable.

-
I like Vegenaise for egg salad, however, it goes bad before I can use up the jar.
-
I have never had Dukes, it’s not available in NY
-
Maybe I should buy a jar before I leave Florida

Jealous.
-
My introduction to Hellman's was around 1970/71 in Cleveland. Prior to that, I'd never paid any attention to whatever mayo we had growing up, but this college friend was making a few of us some good sandwiches and pointed it out, saying it was the only one to get. On moving to L.A. in 1972, I somehow accidentally bought Best, not even knowing it was the same, but it was, so I stayed with it. On moving back east in 1989, it was actually something of a thrill to be able to buy the Hellman's again because it's also just a great name. (Best, in contrast, sounds so generic.)
So would I try Duke's or some other regional favorite? Absolutely. I love trying out regional things, and I'll go with whatever I like. It's doubtful, though, that mayo is something I'd jump ship on. But I would also like to try some good homemade mayo sometime.
-
CONGRATULATIONS to DR Jane on her lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!

Hello, everyone.

MEGA congratulations to the Vix family on their new addition!
-
Hey, DR Jeanne.
-
I am up much later than normal. My clock is off.
-
I woke up this morning with 15 minutes to spare before logging into work. Because I was up part of the night.
-
I have never had Dukes, it’s not available in NY
I've never had it before, but it looks like it's available here:
It came from the South: Duke’s Mayonaise makes its way to the Pacific Northwest (https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2022/aug/05/it-came-from-the-south-dukes-mayonaise-makes-its-w/)

Mega congrats to BK on the new book!
Bruce usually mentions his new book ideas to me and I sometimes suggest something. I was so excited to hear about this one! A book that needed to be written! I’m looking forward to reading it.

Tomorrow, I'm doing the interview for the new The Faculty special edition.
Cool! Have a great time!
-
Acorn TV brought back “Henry IX”, a charming mini series about a king who is tired of royal life and wishes to abdicate. Season 2 never materialized, which is a shame. Lots of dry humor, well done all around.
-
I’ve also been watching “Three Little Birds,” a series written by Sir Lenny Henry about his mother’s emigration to the U.K. Again, well done.
-
Congratulations to Keith and Ginny on their Wordle solves!
-
Thanks for the recommendations, DR Jeanne.
-
Thank you Jeanne ,we are indeed enjoying our grandson
-
Realizing that the parents may not wish it to be posted online, DR vixmom, has a name been chosen?
-
And speaking of mayonnaise, a few days ago, I bought a single bottle of KEWPIE Japanese Mayonnaise (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNY78FVS/) at Fred Meyer.
-
I haven't tried it yet, so we'll see how it is. I have some hard boiled eggs and I want to make some egg salad to see how it tastes compared to Best Foods.
-
I also wanted to try it because Sam the Cooking Guy (https://www.youtube.com/@samthecookingguy) loves it and always uses it.
-
John G, glaucoma is indeed treatable. I highly recommend Natural Ophthalmics products for vision issues in general. I use their Floater Pellets and Total Ocular Function ( a spray) daily and have found both to be very helpful for my issues. They no longer sell directly to the public, but the products are available from several online retailers, as well as some optometrists.
-
I needed some Tex-Mex. Waiting for enchiladas verdes and munching on chips with a good salsa.

Interesting. I haven't had any yet, but THIS Amazon listing (https://www.amazon.com/Kewpie-Mayonnaise-Japanese-Sandwich-12-Ounce/dp/B09V1KCLTX/) show the ingredients:
-
It doesn't have any added sugar, but I came across THIS ARTICLE (https://www.eatingwell.com/article/7989316/what-is-japanese-mayo/):
While American mayo is made with distilled vinegar, which is a higher-acid vinegar, Japanese mayo is made with vinegars such as rice vinegar or apple-cider vinegar, which naturally contain some sugar and are lower in acid. This is the reason why Japanese mayo is both tangy and sweet.
-
Think Miracle Whip without the acrid aftertaste.
-
Good night, all.
-
This almost makes me want to eat mayo someday.

I do know people are raving about Duke’s wherever it’s sold.

Think Miracle Whip without the acrid aftertaste.
Ah. I can imagine that.

Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
My friend Shelly made a raisin pie earlier today.
-
I had a piece.
-
I've never had that many raisins at one time before. :-\
-
It was very sweet, which I like, bland the crust was really good, but it just wasn't for me.
-
Raisins...ah, liasins. ;)
-
It had been shared with a few other people, so here's a picture of what's left:
-
She also said that she didn't realize that she had used ground ginger instead of ground cloves until she added the ginger to the mix.
-
That's possibly another reason why I didn't love it (but that many raisins are a big reason).
-
And now...
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
