Well, you've read the notes, the notes were rotten, and now it is time for you to post until the rotten cows come home.

And the word of the day is: CURIO!

BK (and anyone else), Kander and Ebb weren't the only ones to write a musical based on The Visit. There's a German musical called Der Besuch Der Alten Dame (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Der-Besuch-der-alten-Dame-2014-Original-Vienna-Cast/27965) (The Visit of the Old Lady).

Good morning, all!

After the horrors of the night before, I slept very well, I had another Goodspeed dream. I was riding to Goodspeed with actress Cherry Jones from Manhattan, and we were talking about her wedding. At Goodspeed, our driver, a young lady, was constantly late and she had a fight with the lady in charge. I was looking at a program, and one of the men in the office asked me to dinner.
-
There was more, but it's to oggy now.

My legs are wonky today, so I will hold off my Verizon trip to tomorrow.

Rodzinski - That early Burt Bacharach record you posted last night was certainly an interesting piece of history!

Hola!

Or should that be Olé?

Oil of Olay.
-
singdaw - Loved the posting with the two dogs from tech support!

Following up on that Bacharach record:
Were spoken word recordings a thing at one point?
This is one I happened to find, that had actually charted in the Hot 100.

Good morning, all.

It’s Saturday.
And it just so happens that the housemates are going down to New Jersey (not the old one, mind you) today, and coming back tomorrow — so guess what day it’s going to feel like all day this time?
Saturday!!!
-
DR elmore3003 - surely you also saw Angela Lansbury?
How could I forget her? Oy!

I've been listening to the London cast of Windy City. I really love this score. The Front Page is such a wonderful play, I can't imagine how Dick Vosburgh screwed up the libretto for Windy City.
-
BK, I agree with you about The Visit, a play I really love. I wish I had seen the Lunts in the Broadway production. I think it and The Skin of Our Teeth, another Kander & Ebb mistake, are perfect as plays and do not need musicalization.
-
I am looking forward to enjoying the Super Bowl.

Good morning, all.
-
Rodzinski - That early Burt Bacharach record you posted last night was certainly an interesting piece of history!
Indeed, I found that because I’d found an LP by Paul Hampton, an interesting character, and I knew about Two-Hour Honeymoon but never thought of what might be on the B-side. Another Bacharach collaboration even more bizarre!
-
Dance dreams last night. In a good way.
-
Oh my - here is the song that DR IRIS mentioned last night.....new to me.....oh my!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKkGR_9HoHc

Anyways, yes, spoken-word records had their place in the pop charts. Wink Martindale’s “Deck of Cards” and other oddities like “Americans (A Canadian’s Opinion)” and “We Love You, Call Collect” were big sellers.

Frances Farmer played the lead in a Purdue production of The Visit in October, 1965. She was arrested for drunk driving after she skidded her 1058 Edsel into the median of the interstate near Lebanon, Indiana, on her way home from a cocktail party celebrating the show.

Nowadays, a star on that level would have someone driving her after a show, I think.

Good morrow!
My what a Saturday it may be.
The skies here in Johnston SC are just a bit light gray, but nearly sunny.
We are expecting a major storm system to overwhelm us by Monday. I expect to get wet on my way to and from the post office Monday.

I am currently taking a break from watching "Dunkirk". I have long wanted to see it, but it is another Christopher Nolan event movie.
Thus far, I have seen an hour, and it is very intense, beautifully photographed and -- at times -- mesmerizing.
I haven't been mesmerized more than once or twice in the past month, so it's a good thing.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
"Dunkirk" is over.
I am devastated by it.
Cannot say more. What a movie!!
-
Can’t believe I forgot Julie Andrews.

I have made my cold sesame noodles for tonight.

From DR Ron:
I can do this every two weeks, I feel sure.
Excellent news. Vibes it works!

From Ron:
I was watching "True Detective: Night Country" episode four while doing my injections.
That wouldn't help your mood ;)
Wait, maybe the show fit your mood while having to do the injections.

Stars I saw:
Tommy Tune
I saw this and realized that I did not see Jason Alexander in Bye Bye Birdie. I didn't recall seeing it but we must have seen the tv version with him.
Even better, we saw Tommy Tunes in the roles. He was fantastic.
-
I texted Craig and not only did he confirm it was Tommy Tunes we saw, he sent me a photo of his ticket :)

I worked with Tom Bosley in 1989 in Strike Up the Band; he was an unfriendly horror.
Bea Arthur played the Queen in my restration of Jubilee at Carnegie Hall in 1998; she was funny onstage, not friendly off.
Jane Connell was lovely; I did severa; shows with her.

BK's list reminded me of several more I've seen onstage or worked with:

Glen Close
Twiggy

Ann Reinking
Marian Seldes
Stephen Collins
Bill Irwin
Blythe Danner
Brian Bedford
Betty Buckley
Stockard Channing
Roberta Peters

I am now devastated for a second time today:
I have just finished watching Darren Aronofsky's production "The Whale".
Incredible performance by Brendan Fraser. Heartbreaking!
-
Yes. I loved his expressions.
-
That is quite a list MR BK. Most excellent.
-
I thought I had misread the TOD, but it reads:
"Today’s topic of discussion: Who are your favorite classic male and female Broadway performers, from a time when such stars and unique personalities existed."
Are all these lists full of "favorite" performers? I cannot say I've seen most of them except on TV appearances, game shows, that sort of thing.
-
And I am happy to have DR ELMORE's repor on the personalities involved.
-
DR RON PULLIAM I also liked DUNKIRK a lot.
-
So far today most of my favorite NCAA basketball teams are winning.
-
California did indeed save some rain for us; we've had rain off and on all week. It's been nice.

Greetings from.Lumberton
-
Thank you for the vibes
-
It was a relatively smooth trip
-
Traffic kept moving smoothly northwards although I saw several major traffic jams southwards
-
The only issue was when I stupidly listened to my GPS when it directed me off 95 onto 295 as I approached Jacksonville
-
The it directed me back to 95 via exit 35B
-
Which currently is closed in both directions due to road construction.
-
It took me in circles before i finally just went back south on 95, found an exit and came back.

The person that is leading the next book discussion sent an email with a link to the questions.
Are those questions created for book groups and college classes?

They are often at the back of the book for book groups.

I personally think instead of sending them to us she should just pick the questions she likes and ask them at the discussion.

Attended a bad cabaret fundraiser, had a telephonic conversation with Muse Margaret, so we went over what we needed to and I've done those fixes, I'm through chapter five, design-wise - I'll do most of that tomorrow - and I had a nice dinner with Kay Cole.

Page five is a bit off-putting.

I've been put off by page five.
