Well, you've read the notes, the notes were contemplating their navel, and now it is time for you to post until the contemplating their navel cows come home.

And the word of the day is: LAUD!

And now - Dino at the piano.

Thanks for answering my question about when The Faculty is going to be released (which, I'm sure, you had written before I even asked).
-
And about the news of a modern major miracle, hopefully, it's good news!

Usher performed at halftime during Sunday’s Super Bowl game.
Jon Stewart returned to The Daily Show on Monday night.
Without looking it up, what do the two have in common?

And a Happy Valentine’s Day to all! ❤️

Good morning, friends.

I'll repeat the poem from last week:

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Lent is beginning-
No chocolate for you.

It was an uneventful night.

L slept pretty decently, though not really long enough.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Happy Valentine's Day!
-
I have had better nights of sleep, but I've also had far worse.
-
I just put my interview for the NY Times article on my calendar. I'm looking forward to it.
-
BK, I'm really looking forward to this release of The Faculty.
-
I am so happy that Democrat Tom Suozzi beat GOP pro-abortion choice Nazi Pilip. All I wanted to do during her TV commercials was take a hammer to the TV screen. Her name is actually Mazi. but aren't all MAGA Morons nazis or fascists?

I just put my interview for the NY Times article on my calendar. I'm looking forward to it.
This is great!!

Annabelle just climbed onto my computer table, picked up the cellophane cover to my fruit cup. and ran off with it!

Glad that BK got news of a MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE.

More of that, please.

She probably needed it for one of her costumes.

I've postponed the laundry since Saturday, so today I'm going to do it. I'm taking my friend Doug Cohen's book How to Survive a Killer Musical with me. I'm really enjoying it.

Good morning, all.

I look out the window this morning and see a white HELL. Thank God we got the driveway “just” passable. Sadly, it’s apparently possible there could be a little more sometime in the next few days.
-
Well, I for one am not going out today. There’s plenty of music I should be working on, and I shall do just that.
-
I do have a load of laundry waiting for me, so maybe I’ll also be getting with the laundry program today.

Good morning, all. Happy VD!

Fifteen years ago today, the police broke down an apartment door at 200 East 72nd Street to find the body of John Mcglinn, who had died from a heart attack several days earlier.
Since then, I doubt there's not a day that passes without my mentioning or thinking of John; I cataloged his estate, and until 2015 I worked in an office surrounded by his scores, books, orchestra parts, and manuscripts. I would swear that I occasionally heard hs ghost moving around the office on the days I worked alone there. I've said much ill about him and most likely will continue, and yet, lke BK, I owe much of my career to him. Until the Big Blowout of 2002, when he blamed Robert Kimball and me for his deserved removal from a project, we were friends. It was a strange friendship, because he had a stunted and extremely limited view of what friendship was. He probably considered me a better friend than I did him because negotiating John's megalomania, treachery, and manipulations were not always fun. For him, a good friend was someone on whose shoulder he could cry about his love life or allow him to talk about himself for hours. Occasionally the conversations were two-sided, like when he'd call and we'd start casting a concert or album together. Still, in the 1980s, working on SHOWBOAT, the Danbury Concert, the Book of the Month Club, dealing with diva Kiri Te Kanawa, and sitting in the Carnegie Recital Hall and letting him know when the band was too loud are some of my most cherished memories. Thank you, John!\
RIP, my friend and, sadly, my enemy. I will listen to one of your CDs today and mourn you.

I read yesterday that Richard Maltby Jr. was working on a reading of Ed Kleban’s Gallery. I dreamed about it as a messed up Zoom/online experience that somehow involved Lonny Price’s recordings from the OBC of Merrily We Roll Along.

"Well, is there gaslighting going on?"
Question to BK or anyone who feelslike answering -
Have you ever actually felt like you were being gaslighted?

I so appreciate being able to visit DR Elmore at Toyland when much of McGlinn’s library was still intact.

McGlinn sounds like he’d make an interesting biopic.
But now I want to hear some Kiri te Kanawa stories!

And a Happy Valentine’s Day to this merry bunch of loves!

My question for ASK BK DAY:
What do you think of the fact that director Tim Burton has been given a green light for a remake of ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN?
-
No but you’re being gaslit.
-
Not BK but I wish Tim Burton would go away. Although I liked the Sweeney movie well enough, mostly I don’t connect with his approach.

Working with Kiri te Kanawa was like a day at the bitch. For the five days we recorded Kiri Sings Gershwin, each day she was more unpleasant with several really ugly scenes. Because she had guests the week before recording, she didn't rehearse and she came to the studio forgetting several of the tunes.
-
A day at the bitch! You’re killing me today!

Yes, but they were sufficiently confident I wouldn’t do anything about it. And that was true until it wasn’t.

Good afternoon.
-
I forgot to comment on the beautiful view from DR Rodzinski's window.
-
I could easily live there.
-
I took a nice long walk this morning. I got a nice photo of a cactus wren (Arizona's state bird -- today is Arizona's birthday).
I saw a coyote walking under a tree/shrub. While I tried to get the camera ready, I saw 1, 2, 3, 4 coyotes walk out from the tree and saunter into a wash. They were about 20 yards away.
I saw a pair of roadrunners -- I'm assuming the gentleman had a gift of a lizard for his lady as part of their courtship.
Lots of jackrabbits and ground squirrels. Still too cool for snakes, lizards, and insects.

Valentine’s Day greetings! Richard and I celebrated by both having routine appointments with our cardiologists - same office, different doctors. He went this morning and I went this afternoon. Isn’t that romantic?

My friend Kyle saw it and he loved it!

How can it be Wednesday already?
And Valentine's Day, to boot!!
Today, at Noon, I attended our monthly Seniors Luncheon, the first since November which I did not attend because I went to the beach.
It was a very nice time, good food, well attended. But we are all such old coots. I figured that I was among the youngest at 75. Some few are in their 50s and 60s, but most are in their 80s and 90s, Lord love 'em.
-
I'm glad you enjoyed the luncheon, and I think it is nice that there is a senior luncheon.

Today, I finally watched "Maestro".
I have read so many respectful, but unenthusiastic, comments about all the things that this film is not. Many bemoaned the lack of attention to Bernstein's music for his musical plays.
And yet, it was mostly all there in the background...On the Town, Candide, West Side Story, Mass...so I don't really know what was being expected.
I do know that the film is not easily accessible, emotionally. And yet I find it extraordinary. I had to keep reminding myself I was watching actor Bradley Cooper, who so fully immersed himself into Bernstein that he might as well have been channeling him. Carey Mulligan was wonderful as his wife, Felicia.
It is not biographical as much as it is, or seems to be, a slice of his life that most people never knew about...his family, his duality, his children.
I am a major Bradley Cooper fan. While I haven't seen "Oppenheimer" yet, I can easily say I think Cooper's performance in this film is more of an accomplishment than Paul Giamatti's in "The Holdovers". The latter film is a wonderful, emotionally charged look at the true nature of a curmudgeonly school teacher who finds a way to be his best self even if it means losing his job. I think Giamatti is wonderful at being mostly himself in this role.
All of that said, it means not one whit to voting Academy members.
I will not predict Oscars, but I will participate in watching them...and possibly in partaying here during them.

It is not beloved but it is a step in the right direction.
