Well, you've read the notes, the notes caught up with the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the friendly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VORACIOUS!
-
And for those who may have missed it, someone asked if I had my stuff from Playboy. Here's one: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/4me4196cfkbg886pc90v1/Playboy-Sex-News-Singles-Bar.mov?rlkey=s1jszr6bavlhnl82sstptyige&dl=0
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Here's another - you may want to skip the cooking bit as it has nudity, but the opening bit is my favorite thing I did for the show.

Good morning, all!
-
BK, I loved the two clips!
-
I slept quite well. Around 6:15 there was a terrible crash. One of the cats - I suspect Thatch since he's done this before - pulled the tub containing kitty treats off the storage bin of kibble, and the contents crashed to the floor.
-
Today is another tax tally day.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Wonderful clips, and what a fun return to the 70s. :)
More, please!
-
Hmm. Feels like a Saturday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I want more sleep. What else is new?
-
Good morning.
-
I'm hosting a meeting this afternoon. So far I have baked banana bread, brownies, and two dozen cookies that I am going to decorate. Only about 15 people in this group, so that should be enough. I hope.
-
Fun clips, Bruce.

At least that was the old me. I am now down to 165.

Good morning!
It is a beautiful day here in Johnston SC. The skies are clear and very blue, the sun is bright, and the temperature is 54. Our low was 32, and tonight should get us down to 29. Otherwise, the day, and days ahead, look to be quite pleasant.
-
I have been sleeping so very well.
I turned my mattress three days ago. That was the first time in more than six months.
It does make a difference!
-
I self-administered my second Dupixent injection last night.
There was some soreness about an hour afterward, but this morning there is no pain and no itchiness, so all seems well. I can feel the difference in my breathing and sleeping because of the medication.
-
TOD:
I don't know what my "favorite" fast food jernts may be, but I have had occasion to crave Taco Bell for nachos grande and taco supremes. I enjoy Big Macs and hot apple pies from Mickey D's on occasion.
I think my favorite may be Burger King...at least, a good Burger King. Love the Whopper and love the fries. We had one in Edgedfield when I first moved back here, but it was very poor. I went once and got a whopper that seemed compressed and reheated. Days old, probably. I later learned the manager was a pothead and couldn't keep help unless they were also potheads.
It is now a Church's franchise. I hear it's good, but I have fried chicken places much nearer than that location.
-
TOD: I don't eat much fast food. I haven't for quite a while. Now it's stupid expensive.
Favorite:
Jack in the Box: Ultimate Cheeseburger. I have about two per year.
In and Out: Usually in Indio when I'm driving to California for a conference.
Taco Bell: A box of assorted things when I feel like eating trash.
After a blood donation, my DH usually picks up some Arby's for the iron.
-
I stalled at 4.4 pounds since the beginning of Lent. Nothing more for the last couple of days. I'm sure you all want to know that.
-
The girl I gave up Lent for...
-- Tom Lehrer
-
I suspect y'all know by now that I can't answer a TOD like that by naming two or three things. :)
Will post later when I have a decent list compiled.
-
Also need to see if anyone else jogs my memory on anything I haven't thought of.
-
At least that was the old me. I am now down to 165.
Congratulations!

Too bad about that Burger King location. When Burger King is good, it can be very satisfying.

When I am in Louisville, I must go to:
White Castle
Skyline Chili
-
I'm having trouble viewing the clips BK linked, but trying to figure that out.
-
I do like an Arby’s original roast beef with Arby’s sauce
-
Also Taco Bell burrito supreme and taco supreme, both minus tomatoes, with extra sour cream
-
I rarely have either
-
I hadn’t had McDonald’s in years but about a month ago I was on the way somewhere and was hungry and drove through one
-
They had a triple cheese burger which was quite nice with extra pickles
-
But the fries were so salty I couldn’t eat them
-
But I’ve not been back since
-
I hadn’t had McDonald’s in years but about a month ago I was on the way somewhere and was hungry and drove through one
I drove through a McDonald's a couple years ago and got an egg biscuit, hash brown, and coffee. I was appalled that it cost $10.
-
Maybe I’ll wordle
-
Jack in the Box usually has some kind of a meal special for about $6. They change the specials often. Can't beat that price.

I remember a terrific Bun N' Burger across from where I worked, on 7th Avenue very near Macy's in the 1970s. I think it was a chain.

From DR Rodzinski:
“Once the primary is over, the Democrat party will give delegates to every candidate who gets at least 15 percent of the vote. The more votes they get will determine how many delegates they receive.”
Probably best for me to stick Dem and max out Joe’s delegates.
Aren't those delegates only for the Dem convention, not for the November election?

Hugs, stalling is very frustrating.

While I have eaten at fast food places, especially when the boys were young, I don't crave a single one and only stop to use the restroom when traveling.
-
Finishing up House of Odysseus, a feminist retelling of what happened to Penelope while her husband was at war. Thoroughly enjoying it. Menelaus is portrayed as a pompous ass. Penelope is wonderful. Helen is both dizzy and sly, depending on the situation.

TOD:
Burger King
White Castle
I use coupons for both.
Around here the Burger Chef became Hardee's......which was no an improvement.
-
I remember Burger Chef from 1960s Florida, but I remember nothing at all about the food. I do know we ate there, at least a few times.
Did anyone have Red Barn? We ate there, too, and I guess we liked it. I seem to think the fries were shoestring, and that they featured fried chicken as well as burgers. That was in Florida, too, but the last one I saw was in Cincinnati, on Vine (I think), below the campus. That would have been around 1970.
-
DR George, water in the garage vibes!
Yes, more garage vibes from here, too!

Favorite jernts and favorite items:
McDONALD'S - double cheeseburgers & fries; later, the quarter-pounders w/cheese, some breakfast items.
WHITE CASTLE - the basic cheeseburger sliders.
ROYAL CASTLE - White Castle imitator that I think surpassed it, 1960s Florida, one briefly in Cleveland - cheeseburgers, chili, birch beer, cinnamon buns.
A&W - cheeseburgers, root beer when it was served in frosty mugs.
BIG BOY (Frisch’s in Columbus & Cincinnati, Bob’s in CA, Manners in Cleveland) - cheeseburgers (not so much the Big Boy), the brawny lad burger, whatever that ham sandwich thing is called, spaghetti with chili.
ORANGE JULIUS - chili dogs and of course the Julius.
GEORGE'S (?) at Hollywood & Las Palmas (or was it McCadden?) - cheeseburgers on the go.
TOMMY'S - chili cheeseburgers. (later: CARNEY'S - likewise.)
DOLORES DRIVE-IN - cheeseburgers, Suzy-Q fries, cherry lime rickey.
JACK-IN-THE-BOX - the “crescent supreme” breakfast croissant.
CARL'S JR. - western bacon cheeseburger, fries, onion rings.
SBARRO'S PIZZA - in malls!
CHICAGO HOT DOGS and ITALIAN BEEF - from any number of independent jernts all across Chicagoland.
PIONEER CHICKEN (I seemed to like it better than KFC, sure wish I could compare now).
ASTRO BURGER - cheeseburger & fries.
SKYLINE and GOLD STAR (love 'em both) - Cincinnati chili, always a 5-way.
SYCAMORE DRIVE-IN (Bethel, CT) - cheeseburgers (they were always smashburger style), fries, homemade root beer.
SHAKE SHACK - double cheeseburger w/lettuce, tomato, onion, NO special sauces.
PANDA EXPRESS - we only had it in our mall and we lost it, still furious.
Never had IN-N-OUT - I was only starting to hear about them when I moved east in 1989.
-
Excited to hear about DR elmore3003's interview.
YES!
-
I'm hungry!
-
Carl's Jr. and Hardee's are the same thing, but I don't know if their menus differ at all. I got to liking Carl's Jr. in the 1980s, and I have yet to get to a Hardee's. Care to know why? I'll show you why.
-
Now is that fair?? I ask you.
I could have stopped in at one on trips south, but it's never happened that I was hungry or wanted it any time I was near one.
-
But that reminded me of an important one to add to my list:
STEAK n SHAKE - in Ohio and in the southeast. Wonderful freshly made burgers, chili, etc. Someone told me they downsized their burgers some years ago, and I haven't been to one in years, but I always loved whatever I had there.

Gratuitous post #100

Yes and I will second DR CHAS SMITH's listing of Frisch's Big Boy....there were several in Indy during the 60's.
My favorite sandwich there was the Brawny Lad...front & center.

I still love McDonald’s hash browns, coffee and swirl cones, not necessarily in that order.

I remember Frisch’s. Good stuff. Like Jerry’s. Solid diner fare.

Ah, the Buddie Boy is the ham thing. I first liked it because of the tangy sauce.
-
I love White Castle! How could I forget that?
-
When I was in high school, Frisch's was the place to go to.

Yep. I only named my main things, but there are a number of tasty delights there. And those hash browns, seriously, are really fine.

I had White Castle once….I would only go again if I had a colonoscopy planned, and the regular prep meds weren’t available
-
Most of the places mentioned I never heard of.
-
But I did like orange Julius drinks and hotdogs
-
Sbarro I forgot about. They were very good.
-
I haven’t had KFC for years. There’s one right next to my church. Mayb3 I should stop in sometime

I just finished my interview. I hope I didn't make too big a fool of myself.
Congratulations, Larry. Looking forward to reading the article!

the Brawny Lad
Manly, yes, but I like it too!

That's quite an impressive list, DR ChasSmith.
-
One chain around here that I've never tried is Popeye's. I think known for their fried chicken.
-
A chain that i remember from growing up is Boston Market. Don't know if they're still around.
-
I do very rarely indulge in a sausage/egg/cheese biscuit from McDonald's.
During the pandemic, they offered breakfast all day, but I think that has gone the way of the dodo bird.
-
It's page 5!

You could use that photo for any page turn 5 and above, since there are probably more doggies hiding in that pile of leaves.

Maybe it's the proverbial stairway to paradise.

DR Chas Orange Julius. When I think of Orange Julius today I am not impressed. When I think of it from my childhood, charming and delicious.
I only had it had two locations. My mother and I would stop at the drug store counter, sit at the counter and have an Orange Julius along with a sandwich or hot dog.
Later I would get them at Stan's, who made them extra special. If I also got a hot dog then I would sit at the counter to eat, otherwise it was either sit to drink & chat with Stan or get it to go.
-
I guess along the lines of an Orange Julius and Hot Dog, later cheese, On a Stick to go with the best lemonade.

Steak and Shake. Nearest to me was in West Lafayette growing up. But Ohio had a bunch. Dem shoestring fries!

Azar’s Big Boy in Valpo was a treat.

Church’s is good. Popeye’s too if they cook the chicken right.

I liked Arthur Treacher’s but those are all gone (again).
Captain D’s and Long John Silvers. The latter still has a few, I think.

It tis the season. There is a planter on our walking path filled with these right not.

Back from a wonderful lunch with my beloved Richard Sherman - we had so much fun. I think I'm the only friend he comes to have lunch with now. I had rigatoni with sausage in pink sauce. Wonderful. Since this was a belated birthday lunch, a chocolate shell containing gelato in chocolate, strawberry, and pistachio. Also very good.
-
Awww, it is wonderful he still gets out to meet you.
-
TOD Redux:
White Castle -- ABSOLUTELY. Trouble is, there is never one around any more. Last time I went to one was in Indianapolis, and it was terrific. Ten burgers, a large fries and onion chips and a large chocolate shake...for about $6. SO GOOD!
I sometimes buy the frozen ones in grocery stores. I try to find the big box because it's better value for the money.
-

Hello, everyone.
-
Sorry to hear about your water issues, George. I’m glad you don’t have a broken pipe. Do take it seriously, though, as even minor leaks can cause a lot of damage.
-
Glad to hear DR Ron’s new medication is helping. Many people would be put off because it’s an injectable. You don’t seem to have a problem with that.
-
I did get a big chunk of tax work accomplished today.
I’d say you’re having a very good day. A mentor session, an interview, and a lot accomplished on your taxes. Even one could make a productive day.
-
.
Am I the only one who doesn’t know what FFA Week is?
-
Bruce, I’m glad Richard is still up to going to lunch. I was afraid it was too difficult for him now. Glad you had a good time. Did you go to the same place as before?
-
TOD:
I don’t usually go to fast food restaurants, but I did like Arthur Treacher’s for fish and chips and I used to like Orange Julius and A&W. I loved A&W, in fact.
I now frequent a little place called Fast Taco. It’s not fast food, as everything is cooked to order, but it is fast. Everything is fresh and the owners are a very nice Armenian couple.
-
I just learned that we won’t be able to use the laundry room next week. They need to open up a wall to let it dry out. Sigh. Fortunately, I did some laundry a couple days ago in case there were more delays in the repairs. I’m glad I did.
Just too many problems in this building.
-
Speaking of restaurants, a couple weeks ago I learned that an eatery I had returned to, Fresh Corn Grill, has closed. A week ago I learned that one of my bagel bakeries, Bagelworks, has closed as well. The Counter, a burger place near me, had a change in ownership. It’s a franchise and the owner wanted out. It’s still open, but it’s now owned by the parent company. I know that one was due to Covid and the slack sales since. I suspect the others were, too. Many businesses still haven’t recovered. It’s sad.
-
Sorry to hear that one of Jane and Keith’s favorite restaurants is closing. What a loss.

At least it is because they are retiring. It is hard to imagine they haven't put it up for sale. At the least I would think something else will go in the spot on the river.

Speedy repair vibes for the laundry room of DR Jeanne.

Watched and enjoyed The Holdovers tonight.
-
Babs was awarded her Lifetime Achievement award.
-
Good evening.
-
Our event was somehow publicized, and we had about 30 people, instead of the usual 12 or so. I was worried there weren't enough snacks, but they ate everything except four cookies. I hope the minister shares them with his children tomorrow.
-
You are so good to do that, DR Laura.
-
I didn't even lick the spoon today. Or my fingers, when I got frosting on them. I am the messiest frosting piper ever. It ends up everywhere.
-
It is popcorn and movie time.
-
And a little part of Kerry is in everything.

Wow.
-
It looks like Disney ripped off a franchise from BK...

I'm impressed.

;)

Yes :)

I decided that I will take a 15-minute break from my diet next week, after my next blood donation. I shall eat salty snacks with alacrity.
-
I didn't until I looked it up.
I sure didn't.
I didn'tuntil DR Jeanne mentioned it.
-

Enjoy your reward.

'night
-
Yes, Kerry's mixer was whirling this morning.
-
I shall eat salty snacks with alacrity.
Yea for you.

Performance #3 is done. Now we have one more matinee tomorrow. Then it's 8 months until the next opera, as the theater is closed for a much-needed seat replacement when we usually do the spring show. What will I do? I sing in another chorus, but those gigs are special projects and the next program isn't until September.
-
I almost fell for this one...
-
Good night, friends.
-
It wasn’t a world premiere, but Michael Ippolito’s Nocturne was special because the composer was in the audience. He lives up the road in San Marcos.
The music was inspired by Miro’s Nocturne.
-
Corigliano’s Fern Hill was also performed. Interesting choral piece. Mussorgsky’s piece was fun. The audience, surprisingly large, was most appreciative.
-
Church’s started here in San Antonio. Never liked it. Flabby, not crispy. They apparently have a new hot sauce on the market that’s said to be really good.

Last performance vibes.

I’m no longer a fan of Sonic. Something about their onions upsets my stomach every time I have a burger there. I do like their tater tots.
-
The Simpsons summed up my feelings on Arby’s. In their spoof of Lord of the Flies, one of the deserted kids says, “I’m so hungry I could almost eat Arby’s.”
This was followed by a chorus of “eew.”
-
That said, their seasonal dreamsicle milk shake is wonderful.
-
Hardee’s didn’t last long in San Antonio. I liked their lettuce-wrapped burger, but I would have to make sure I ordered it without ketchup (sugar) and sweet pickles (more sugar). If you’re offering a low-carb burger, why add carbs?
-
We have Taco Cabana with drive-thru margaritas. I kid you not.
-
I tried Bush’s Chicken and Cane’s once. Don’t need to make either mistake again.
-
Eight!
-
At least we’re off seven.
-
I like the clam strips at A&W.
-
I’d like some clam strips right now.
-
I did have this:
-
Good night, all.
-
Hardee’s is who bought and destroyed Burger Chef.
-
In the ‘80s I recall Fred Gwynne was the TV voice of Hardee’s commercials.
-
Here was an ambitious Hardee’s commercial voiced by Gwynne.
The Burger Wars…

I wonder if Richard Sherman knew the other Sherman Brothers, Joe and Noel, who wrote “Eso Beso,” “Heartaches By the Number,” “To the Ends of the Earth,” and “Ramblin’ Rose” among other hits.
-
Coincidentally, Richard Sherman in the news today for a DUI arrest. But fear not, this was a former NFL player by that name.

Sounds like a great concert!
-
Jeanne, yes, same place.
-
Wow, I guess George just thought it was a fine idea to not come back here.
-
He WILL be held accountable.
-
He just didn't care - he went and did something important, like ate a burrito.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
