Well, you've read the notes, the notes were curious, and now it is time for you to post until the curious cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: KISMET!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I like Fern Hill. Was the choir local?
-
.
-
But not, presumably, at the same time.
-
Unless you're nuts.
-
Who decides these things?
-
I finished the puzzle.
-
But I didn't eat taco pizza:

Good morning.

Happy Sunday, everyone! On the new episode of The Broadway Radio Show I am joined by DJ Salisbury and Andrew Gerle the writers of the new musical Whisper Darkly. Set in a speakeasy called the Hush Club in 1928, it features a score using the popular electro-swing style music. The studio cast recording was just released on Friday and you'll hear plenty of songs from that featuring a dazzling line-up of Broadway talent!

Good morning, all.
-
Would love to have slept in a little longer than I did, but hey.
-
Good morning
-
I must get dressed and get to church
-
It’s going up to 40 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale today, and into the 50s for the next four days.
-
Then this afternoon I go into the city to see Eddie Izzard’s solo Hamlet
-
Good morning, all.

But a quick Wordle maybe?

I am in BK's corner on She's Funny That Way. Dreadful movie. Joanna Lumley was about the only bright spot.
-
I also dislike his affected acting and his ascots.
-
But I do like a few more of his movies than BK does, though I'll admit they're far from masterpieces.
-
Then this afternoon I go into the city to see Eddie Izzard’s solo Hamlet
Sounds like fun.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept in and got up later than usual. uckily, the cats did not misbehave or complain, so I'm happy.
-
I checked my calendar for the week. I cannot believe it's the last week of February! I have to call Access-a-Ride today and schedule my trip for my doctor's appointment on Tuesday.
-
Then, on Wednesday, I must deliver my taxes to my new accountant. I miss my former accountant of thirty years, and I'm still pissed he sold his company to Taxmasters.
-
Onward!
-
Two!

I like Fern Hill. Was the choir local?
Yes. And the Meistersingers were good for much of it.
-
That sounds like a fun concert DR JOHN G.
-
Closing matinee vibes for DR MICHAEL G.
-
I enjoyed reading about MR BK's lunch with Mr. Richard Sherman.
-
I always thought Pet Bog looked a bit like former DR JMK.
-
Yesterday about 12:15 p.m. my doorbell rang.
I went to answer and there was a food delivery on my front porch table and a man in a car trying to make a getaway!
I waved at him and yelled and he came back up and I told that him I had not ordered anything. I told him my address and he said "That's the address on the order.....it says it's from your mother."
I told him my mother didn't have access to a credit card in heaven.
I told him it was probably for 20 Fairwood Ct. instead of 20 Fairlane Dr......he asked me where that was and I said around the corner first street to the right.
I HOPE SOMEBODY GOT THEIR LUNCH.

Final performance vibes to MichaelG!

"Why can't It Be Like It Was?" from Merrily We Roll Along kept running through my head all night. So, now I'm listening to the Encores! recording and crying like a baby. I detested the original production; it was like a mediocre high school production and none of the kids in that cast knew what their older characters were about - although Lonny Price's "Franklin Shepard Inc," was really wonderful - until the scene containing "Old Friend." By then it was too late.
I think Steve mproved the score in later revisins. "Growing Up" is a heartbreaking number.
-
;)
-
But not, presumably, at the same time.
LOL, definately not.
-
Though both separately sound good.
-
I have these.

Supposedly a package was delivered to us yesterday. A photo of where it was delivered would have at least let us know if it was delivered somewhere in our complex. It was not delivered to our floor, by the mail boxes, or outside the building.

Like It Was is probably my favorite Sondheim song.
I also think Sondheim improved the score, but I still like Rich and Happy better than That Frank.
Growing Up is an odd song. Does Frank merely echo what Gussie told him? If nit, are Charley and Mary wrong for wanting himto remain true to his original dream?
-
I have been enjoying BK's memories about songs and albums from his legacy.
-

Isn't that's what's so good about the song? It adds more complexity to the situation instead of it just being "Frank sells out." He starts being sympathetic earlier than the second act, even if it's ambiguous whether he's fooling himself or not.
I still miss "The Hills of Tomorrow" but after seeing the Broadway revival I do agree the show works better without it. I keep the OBC recording for the original score but I think the new cast is better in every way.

Yes. I like the unanswered questions.

Taxes are finished! I also had to deal with an Indiana University email I overlooked nine days ago about a Zoom meeting with the ballet conductor. I was profusely apologetic and truly embarrassed. Hopefully, this week the conductor and I will converse, and we'll do a trial run for next Monday night's (shudder!) band rehearsal.
-
DR ELMORE don't be embarrassed - missed ZOOM meetings are de rigueur in Indiana.
-
Michigan vs. Purdue is making me hyperventilate.
-
YES DR JANE I am glad he came back....to reclaim the meal.
It looked very good and included an ice cream sundae so I was sad to see it go.
-
58 degrees and sunny here.
-
Sunday is nice.
-
NYC HHW denizens.....have you heard anything of BRILLIANCE the Frances Farmer musical that had a reading or performance or SOMETHING in January?

This is on Broadwayworld - from 2022!
"Brilliance, a new musical based on the life of actress Frances Farmer, is set to make its New York premiere in an Off-Broadway residency at The Players Theatre (115 Macdougal Street) for a three-week limited engagement. The musical is scheduled to open on Thursday, April 7."

Randall Kleiser’s name in BK’s notes (was it yesterday?) reminds me of his great Christmas movie, The Gathering. Real tearjerker.
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of excellent sleep.
-
No George last night, no George today? Can someone check on him?

I just sent him a text.

I remembered something unanswered from yesterday. From DR Jane:
DR Chas Orange Julius. When I think of Orange Julius today I am not impressed. When I think of it from my childhood, charming and delicious.
I only had it had two locations. My mother and I would stop at the drug store counter, sit at the counter and have an Orange Julius along with a sandwich or hot dog.
Later I would get them at Stan's, who made them extra special. If I also got a hot dog then I would sit at the counter to eat, otherwise it was either sit to drink & chat with Stan or get it to go.
It's actually a little surprising that I only positively remember ever having it in three places: (1) On Hollywood Blvd., where I discovered it on moving there in summer 1972. I think it was a stand, not a real walk-in place. I always picture it on the north side of the Blvd., but I believe it was actually just to the left (east) of the New-View. (2) Stan's, my favorite. A chili dog and a Julius and a donut or two there are something I'd kill to have now. (3) Wilshire and Beverly Dr. - or was it Canon? - north side of Wilshire, on the first floor of the office building right there at street level, in the mid-to-late 70s.
Fast forward about 40 years and I'm walking through a mall here one day, and there was a modern-day incarnation of Orange Julius. I knew this was going to end up being a waste of a couple of bucks, but I had to do it -- I had just the orange drink, which of course was nothing close to what I remembered from L.A. That wonderful taste and texture were a thing of the past.
-
Just got word that Mom is on her way to the hospital after a choking episode.
-
No other details.

Sadly the mall drinks were rather bad, yet I tried a number of them before giving up.

DR George is fine. He fell asleep and slept the night away.
-
George is now ushering at the Amy Grant concert and won't be back until sometime after dinner.
-
DR FREDDIE thanks, I am familiar with all of those clips for 2022....it was supposed to be restaged or have a reading of some kind last month.....but haven't heard how it went.
That sizzle real and those songs really send me over the edge......it ain't fittin' it jus' ain't fittin'.

I've heard nothing, but I'm out of the loop these days.

Good evening.
-
So, yesterday was a day...as was today. :)
-
I think it is about time I turn my computer off for the evening.
-
'night
-
Someone gave me a bucket of kale yesterday. Today we ate kale salads. We'll eat kale salads for a number of days, I believe.
-
I first started the day by visiting with a friend that I hadn't seen in person since last year, so that was fun.
-
After the visit, I went to OlyTheater at the mall (Theater Artists Olympia's theater space) to deliver a check, and a new tablet that was donated to TAO to use for ticket check-ins.
-
Then I stuck around and visited with the people who were there working on fixing the light fixtures.
-
After that, I went to my sister's and helped her put a new canvas cover on her old gazebo.
-
That didn't take too long, and for the most part was pretty easy.
-
PAGE FOUR DANCE!!
-
After that, Margo, Shelly and I were going to meet for lunch, but Margo couldn't make it, so Shelly and I went to downtown Olympia and had lunch at McMenamins The Spar (https://www.mcmenamins.com/spar-cafe).
-
Shelly had the Fish and Chips, and I had the Bacon Cheeseburger and Cajun Tots.
-
Quite delish!
-
We left and went to our respective homes...it was around 6:00 by this point.
-
I played games on my phone for a bit and checked e-mails, that sort of thing, and decided to take a little nap since I hadn't been getting enough sleep over the last several days.
-
Well, I instsntly fell completely asleep and slept from about 7:00 p.m., until maybe 2:00 a.m.!
-
I think I only woke up then because I had to go to the bathroom. ::)
-
I really must have needed the sleep.
-
I was still a little groggy, so I didn't log on to HHW and just went back to sleep. 8)
-
Gratuitous Post #101!!
-
Fortunately, I set my alarm because I was ushering today, so I got up in time to shower and get downtown to usher for the Amy Grant concert.
-
I was never a particular fan, but once she crossed over into the pop world, I did like some of her songs (I'm not religious at all).
-
Somehow, my niece became a huge fan (she's also not religious) but was excited that I was going, and asked if I could take some pictures.
-
We volunteers were told that filming videos was not allowed, but non-flash photography was, so I was able to get a few pictures.
-
Here's one:
-
That was her first act outfit.
-
And here's a second act photo:
-
I texted pictures of the merchandise that they were selling to my niece and she picked out a couple things that I was able to get for her (she'll pay me back).
-
There was also an organization (religious based) there that was raising money to provide "support to vulnerable moms and babies from pregnancy through their first year together" in other countries.
-
If you donated to the organization (they had a QR code that took you to the donation page), you could get a designed poster of the set list for this tour that was autographed by Amy Grant.
-
I went ahead and made a one-time donation and got the poster...it'll be Hilary's birthday present in April. ;)
-
SO, DON'T ANYONE TELL HER!!
-
;D
-
And then the concert ended, and I went (and still am at) McDonald's.
-
I've read all of yesterday's posts and will comment on a few.
-
Congrats, John on the weight loss!
-
Thanks, Jane and Freddie, for the water in the garage vibes!
-
Jeanne wrote:
Sorry to hear about your water issues, George. I’m glad you don’t have a broken pipe. Do take it seriously, though, as even minor leaks can cause a lot of damage.
Thanks, Jeanne. The property manager is going to have someone look at things, so hopefully, they can find out what's going on...and soon!

PAGE FIVE AMY GRANT DANCE!!

This photo was taken by a professional photographer at the concert and posted on Facebook.

And now, I need to ketchup on all of today's posts!

Hope you enjoy it! Can't wait to hear about it!

I enjoyed reading about MR BK's lunch with Mr. Richard Sherman.
Ditto! And as always, loved the picture!
-
Enjoying your stories about your day, George!

You tore through page 4 and got a great start on page 5 - I bet BK will appreciate that!

It's good that he came back and took the food!
One time, I was at work late and there was a food delivery for the secretary who sits up front. Except that she had not been to work that day. The driver said that that was the address that it was supposed to go to. I texted her and she said that she was driving home from out of town and forgot to change the delivery address. ::) She said to just put it in the fridge at work and she'd get it on Monday. No prob.
-
However, even though she came to work on Monday, she didn't take her food with her. On Tuesday, I mentioned that it was still in the fridge and she said she would get it that night. She didn't! I didn't remind her again (not my job) and that bag of food stayed the fridge for more than three, count 'em, THREE weeks! :o I finally threw it out when she went on vacation.
-
;D
-
After that, I went to my sister's and helped her put a new canvas cover on her old gazebo.
"A New Canvas on an Old Gazebo" - should be the title of something

And now, all of today's posts have been ketchuped on. ;)

Let’s move on …
-
In one …
-
Six!

Hi, George!
-
Hi, John!
-
Onions have feelings too, you know.
-
I'm afraid I'm not much help.
-
Good night, friends.

Onions have feelings too, you know.

;D
-
I'm afraid I'm not much help.
That’s the attitude.
-
Good night, all.
-
Glad the news on your mom was good, John!
-
I watched The Strange One on YouTube today. A movie made great by Ben Gazzara’s incendiary performance. Great supporting cast too.
-
Jocko De Paris, one of the most enigmatic screen villains.
-
George Peppard also very effective. And Pat Hingle.
-
I own the soundtrack LP. Kenyon Hopkins.
-
BK could perhaps regale us with his thoughts on Kenyon Hopkins.
-
Hopkins did 12 Angry Men, so BK has probably recently shared thoughts.
I have a couple concept albums he composed just for LP: Nightmare!! and Riding the Rails. Scary music and train themes, respectively.
-
Did Amy Grant perform “Baby Baby” at the show?
-
I've always enjoyed Kenyon Hopkins's film scores and weird albums.
-
Page six, eh?
-
Must write some notes.
-
Maybe I can relocate us
-
To another page…
-
Another dream…
-
Gordon Jenkins was also good at making weird conceptual albums when the LP format was new.
-
Manhattan Tower, a full musical written just for LP
-
An the truly bizarre “Seven Dreams” early psychedelia, kinda.
https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mn9gzY9UnSlCfo_fEt3ooq-0mEFZB265I&playnext=1&index=1
-
He also wrote an LP musical for Judy Garland, called The Letter, I think.
-
And one for Steve and Eydie.
-
And the weird section of Sinatra’s Trilogy record set.
-
And that’s it for this page.
-
And this begins THIS page…
-
Not the boss’s favorite page.
-
But what can ya do?
-
Did Amy Grant perform “Baby Baby” at the show?
Why, yes, she did! And here's the set list:
-
I saw the show right behind the sound and light guys, and took a picture after the show.
-
I asked if the guy if he keeps the list, and he said that he does reuse them, so I didn't get to have it. ::)
-
Oh, well.
-
He also wrote an LP musical for Judy Garland, called The Letter, I think.
I have that on CD:
https://castalbums.org/recordings/The-Letter-1959-Studio-Cast/2739 (https://castalbums.org/recordings/The-Letter-1959-Studio-Cast/2739)
-
I was obsessed with Seven Dreams as a barely teen. I played it over and over and over. I discovered it on the radio whilst flipping around the transistor radio dial. I discovered Manhattan Tower soon thereafter and performed the narration in my choir in my final year of high school. I talk about it quite a bit in Kritzer Time.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
Not a whit.
-
Not a jot.
-
Not at all.
-
If I had my druthers, there would be no page seven.
-
But that would create chaos.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And?
