Well, you've read the notes, the notes were double trouble, and now it is time for you to post until the troubled cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BISSEXTILE!
-
Just in case you were wondering.
-
Topic of the Day: I have not had cataract surgery, but I probably will in the future. My eye doctor said that I have some slow growing cataracts, so it could happen someday.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well. Stella has abandoned her sleep in the bathroom sink to return to me. Annabelle showed up around 4:00 and proceeded to cough up a hairball.
-
Today at noon I have a Zoom meeting with Marzio, the ballet's conductor, who is currently in Italy. We've mever met before, so I'm looking forward to it. I think Tom, who manages the school's various orchestras will be with us from Indiana.
-
I think it's time for a Honda 50 dance!
-
BK, I think DRs ChasSmith, Ginny, and I may be the only HHW cataract surgery survivors. My right eye still sees poorly, but my left eye sees very well. I did not have anything performed with lasers.
-
LEAP DAY!
I have as yet received no marriage proposals.
-
Happy Sadie Hawkins Day!
-
All of this talk and all of that talk on HHW. I went to Amazon to order some Alacrity and they didn't have any listed.
-
I started the double vision thing a few years ago…I now have prisms in my spectacles…whatever that means
-
DR VIXMOM I remember PPL......they were on the Midnight Special once......or one of those late night weekend music shows.
-
Yes DR VIXMOM my new spectacles I have a prism because of my right eye being lower in my head than my left eye.
-
I just caught up with a church friend who moved away a few years ago , today is her 16th birthday.
She became a grandmother on the 7th of this month!
-
At my latest eye exam in December there were no signs of cataracts.
-
LOL.....I have a friend like that.....today he is 18.
-
I must get to work though…but I do want to Wordle!

whew that took some time
-
I am way behind, not having finally fallen asleep last night until around 2:30am.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And Happy Leap Day.
-
.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Who decides these things?
-
I am not yet caught up with posts.
-
I like that show poster, DR George.
-
Better prisms in you eye than prisons, I suppose.

-
Good morning, all.
-
I would greet you all with a hearty "Happy Friday", but, alas, it's only Thursday.
At least, it's Thursday here in the CSRA.
-
I slept abominably well, happy to say.
Still, when I awakened, I was aware of a moderate head cold.
I don't tolerate head colds very well. They rather annoy me and perplex me.
-
My daily agenda, as always, is to get things done that desperately need doing.
Sadly, my motivation to do those things is generally limited to doing only the absolutely essential things.
-
My symptoms were the gradual inability of corrective lenses - either glasses or contact lenses - to fully correct my vision. Starting a few years back, it became impossible to get a prescription lens to sharpen things up, to get rid of ghost images or double vision, and to "cut through" the fog that I could now begin to tell was really there all the time.
The double-vision thing can also be caused by astigmatism, not necessarily by cataracts. But cataracts will greatly exaggerate the effects of even a tiny bit of astigmatism, which was happening to me. I had thought I might need the "upgrade" to the lens that also corrects for astigmatism. She said no, you'll be amazed, but you only need the basic. And I was indeed.
Anyhoo, if it's not cataracts, then maybe BK is ready for some plain old glasses, or something like vixmom's.
-
TOD - Part II - and what BK really asked:
I had the standard, basic surgery. No lasers, and just the basic distant-vision lens replacement. My understanding of the laser option is that it makes little cuts with much more accuracy than a human can; i.e., it can cut a perfectly round hole that no doctor can quite equal. Does that contribute to the end results? No idea. I think most people go with the standard, which is covered by insurance anyway. And not to mention, when you're in there, the effects of the "calming" anesthesia are such that you're not going to care which it is or what they're doing. It's all quite miraculous.
-

She became a grandmother on the 7th of this month!
Happy 16th Birthday to your friend who just became a grandmother! ;D

Leap Day greetings! We quite enjoyed our inaugural trip to Costco on Tuesday and had another busy day yesterday that started with some severe weather. Nothing damaged here, except for our ability to sleep.

Our big accomplishment yesterday was achieving printer self-sufficiency. We bought a new printer to share and can now both print from our phones, tablets, and laptops. It’s all very amazing and mysterious.
-
Yesterday afternoon our recently-widowed friend Lynne came to visit. She and her late husband had long considered moving here, but he became too fragile to withstand the upheaval. She’s now revisiting the idea and wanted our insights.

My printer has died. I have no money to buy a new one at the moment. In worse fact, I have no money at alland I haveow I'm getting through the next month or after. I need a job really bad.

The Miracles of Modern Technology!
-
I've cleaned up the apartment, emptied the paper shredder and vacuumed that mess, and I'm waiting for noon to have this Zoom meeting.
-
TOD - Yes, Richard and I have both had successful cataract surgeries. They were conventional (not laser) and we’re pretty pleased with the results. I now only use glasses for up-close and a mild prescription for driving (although I passed the vision test and am not required to wear them). Richard has opted to continue wearing bifocals because he didn’t want the bother of putting on and taking off his glasses all the time.
-
Indiana has suggested that instead of doing band rehearsals opn Zoom, they send me recordings of the sessions. I sent a strong email suggesting that their idea sucked, and I wanted to be present at the rehearsals. So, I'm waitring to see how that email went over.

Not in this house, DR ChasSmith - ah-choo!
-
BK, please have the double vision checked out sooner rather than later. Several years ago I had to take Richard to the ER in Orlando with that symptom. They first ruled out serious things like stroke and brain tumor before attributing optic nerve damage to sun/heat exposure. He wore prisms for several weeks and underwent chiropractic treatment and it eventually resolved.

Job vibes for DR ELMORE.

From DR Rodzinski:
I was just watching the first episode of Anything But Love with Richard Lewis and Jamie Lee Curtis on YouTube, and what comes on? An ad for China Beach!

Robert Picardo was in the episode of Young Sheldon that we watched last night. Yesterday I showed Keith a photo of him from his China Beach days.

I’m about one-third of the way home. Stopped at a diner I’ve driven by for years and always wanted to try. Chicken and dumplings on the menu.
-
Continuing on with The Women. The Coronado Hotel is a landmark that the main character lives near.
-
I really like the book, but it has a few of the problems I have with some of Hannah’s work. The echoes of China Beach, The Deer Hunter, From Here to Eternity and the soundtrack of Forrest Gump are a little too strong at times. Details are often repeated for no reason. But the story holds you.

Pretty much me every day, listening to the news.

The endless and irritating promos for the new CBS series ELSBETH are so hideous that I would not even consider watching a moment of the show......the leading actress is cloying and repulsive and will not be on my tv screen beyond the repetitive and intrusive ads that keep appearing on my other CBS programming.
-
Second important envelope vibes for MR BK.
-
BTW - MR BK I can't seem to find any other info about the person you sent me information about......
Strange.....
-
I liked the ELSBETH actress in the recent season of FARGO.

BK, when you make sandwiches, do you cut them in even pieces, or do you cut them like this?

Avert your eyes, all ye who are obsessive-compulsive.

Enjoyed the song, DR Freddie.

I just suffered through the most hideous production (if you can call it that) of Follies EVER - Opera Toulon in France. The worst acting, direction, choreography, non-set - beyond inept. It really takes the cake for a director and cast not understanding the material they're doing. The Buddy especially was horrific - and his Follies number with him in his undergarments (apparently no one told him the he should wear a dance belt) was grotesque. The orchestra sounds great and they did it sans intermission, so points for that, but then we have to take away points for the idiot who directed it for video - the constant cutting to the conductor during the musical numbers made me want to choke an artichoke but that would be redundant, as Arti is already choking the artichoke.
