Well, you've read the notes, the notes stood up and marched into march, and now it is time for you to post until the marching cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HEARTEN!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Congrats, BK, on at least getting the most important of the two important envelopes!
-
Wednesday night, I got the first of my two stage managing paychecks from Lakewood Playhouse. I'll get one more at the beginning of April, before we go into performances. :)
-
Both are being saved to pay my property taxes at the end of April.

Good morning.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I finally had a decent night of sleep.
-
.
-
I'll dress in blue, all right, but I should have worn green.
-
Who decides these things?
-
Good morning, all!
-
I went to bed around 8:30 and slept rather well until the alarm 10 hours later. I dressed, decided I was still tired, and went back to bed. The cats cheered when I finally got up to fix their breakfasts.

The Zoom meeting yesterday went very nicely. I met Indiana University's ballet conductor Marzio Conti, the manager of all the school orchestras Tom Wielligman. and managing dhy Compton. We ironed out the Zoom logistics, and Marzio told me how much he liked the orchestration, especially my imagination for substituting a melodica for the flute in the leading lady's first solo. I mentioned that I had been to Indiana University in the early 1990s to see my reconstruction of Jubilee, presented by the Opera Dept. for the Cole Porter Centenary. Tom told me he had been assistant to the manager of the school orchestras then.
-
The only sad thing about Monday's and Tuesday's rehearsals is that the sax players will nto be there; I suspect they're tied up with another ensemble this week. I think there aree five different orchestras. We settled on 37 strings: 8 violin A, 7 Violin B, 6 Violin C, 6 Violas, 6 Celli, and 4 basses.
-
Will the orchestra be composed of students, pros, faculty, or a mixture of all of those?
-
I listened to Ron Raines albums yesterday. What a magnificent voice.
-
DR elmore3003, do you know if Ron ever did opera or classical music?

Anyone planning to spend this weekend in the country?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Oh my word, it's Friday.
-
What was that? "My word"?
Does anyone still say "My word"?
-
As long as we're all making fancy baked goods today, how about hippo-poto-pies?
-
Does anyone still say "My word"?
Oh you kid!
-
DR Elmore, that's good news about the ballet. Well, except for those saxy saxes. Damn them.
And I often am 'eh' about Broadway show teasers, both professional and non-, but that one for the ballet is wonderful.
-
Does anyone still say "My word"?
Oh you kid!
Was there a show "My Word and Welcome To It"
-
Oh wait, that might have been "My World and Welcome To It"
-
But that was many years ago

I doubt if anyone would know.

What a delightful bunch of posts to greet the dawn.
-
In other new news, I will be making my historic return to Carrie: The Musical by playing keyboard in a high school production in a couple of weeks.
-
If only there were some posts to greet the tony orlando.
-
March has surely come in like a lion, a whippin' up posts to start the day.
-
And THAT will be interesting, on any number of levels.
-
Slept well again. Woke up needing to blow my nose several times. Still breathing well, but still congested, to boot.

Congrats ChasSmith!
-
I can confirm that today is actually Friday in the CSRA.
I know this because Bruce told us it was the 1st of March, and the calendar says that happens on a Friday.
So it must BE Friday.
Am taking it on faith.
-
Great Expectations? I agree with Jane. Make up your own damn book title!

I took my wife to a romantic movie one Valentine’s night. A Winter’s Tale. One of my favorite Shakespeare plays, although I must say it’s more weird than romantic, but the brief ad I’d seen played up the romance and it was released on Valentine’s Day.
Turns out it had nothing to do with the Shakespeare play. Was some sort of supernatural thriller with Will Smith as actual Satan wearing a Bob Marley T-shirt. Just abysmal. We walked out before it ended.
-
Hi Ron! What is the CSRA?

Probably, but Elton John’s AIDA is based on the opera. Using well-known titles for completely unrelated works is a different bag o’ chicken.

I'm sure those are interesting. :-\

-
I'm wondering how many people went to our Corpus Evita opera and left at intermission when they realized they weren't going to hear "Don't Cry For Me Argentina." We did tend to lose quite a few then, but that might have been the torture scene that directly preceded it.
-
I was kind of surprised that Mr. Yap didn't make an appearance in Album Produced By... as I would have expected some conflict between him and BK over some Broadway cast recordings. But I can imagine there might have been things there that didn't want to be revisited while writing the book.
-
From DR Jrand:
The endless and irritating promos for the new CBS series ELSBETH are so hideous that I would not even consider watching a moment of the show......the leading actress is cloying and repulsive and will not be on my tv screen beyond the repetitive and intrusive ads that keep appearing on my other CBS programming.
Oh no. I loved Elsbeth on The Good Wife and hope the show is better than the promos.
-
DR Singdaw we also liked the actress in Fargo, or anything she does.
-
DR John thank you for the link on Anne Whitfield :(

I still recall being horrified when I went to a book store asking for "Ramona" and was handed the Beverly Cleary book, not the Helen Hunt Jackson classic. It still annoys me.

It's interesting to read (on wikipedia) that it was renamed "A New York Winter's Tale" for the UK and Ireland.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe four hours of sleep, maybe a bit more.
-
Will the orchestra be composed of students, pros, faculty, or a mixture of all of those?
I'm sorry I missed this earlier. As far as I know it's one of the five(?) student orchestras. The three saxes are coming from another band or orchestra since the clarinets do not double.
-
I never really had any issues with Yap that were worthy of the book. But on the Internet he is so thoroughly obnoxious. I either blocked him or he me. But remember, the reason he's doing his posts now about his recordings is in direct response to me posting the track and telling stories. THAT is how petty he is.
-
I'll be on my way to the bank in a bit.

DR Laura, I think you should make pistachio blondies next.

Jane - What wikipedia has on its cast list for "Winter's Tale" is
Will Smith as Judge / Lucifer
[corrected later to fix the title of the movie]
-
DR Freddie, it does not have the word "The" in the title, vs Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale".
-
I'm not doubting that the Judge is Lucifer, I simply don't remember the charactor from the novel.

Yes, page 8!
-
Vamping, or camping?
-
Perhaps a little of both?
