I am listening to Saint-Saens' Requiem this morning; it's quite beautiful.

I slept very poorly with leg and stomach cramps, so I will be taking it easy today.

Our gay pigeons, Oyster and Pebble, have built a nest somewhere on the fire escape - I suspect it's in the AC duct, but I can hear their cooing and flutterings quite clearly. Thatch ios fascinated abd spends much of his time in the window watching. They've been wanting a family, so they're now watching two abandoned eggs. Flora, the mother, died recently after eating poisoned food in Central Park, and her mate, Gray Wing, didn't want to stay in Manhattan any longer. Pebble wants to know if he and Oyster can get in the Guinness Book of World Records as the first gay pigeons to raise a family.

Happy St Patrick's Day to one and all!

Today is also St Gertrude's Day, patron saint of cats and a very holy item in our household.

I spent yesterday morning downloading 12 discs of Ormandy conducting Tchaikovsky into my iTunes. His extended suites for the three ballets make me wish Columbia had asked him to record them complete. I listened to bits of Symphony No. 6, Piano Concerto No. 1, the Violin Concerto, and the ballet suites.
-
BK, I do not give a damn what anyone writes; Ormandy's Carmina Burana remains the best and my favorite recording of the work. I has spoke!

Dear Rachel Imenu Community Association,
As we assemble our costumes and mishloach manot for Purim, and as our local Muslim families celebrate the holy month of Ramadan, our Christian neighbors have their own special #holiday in this #season — the yahrzeit of #SaintPatrick Ha’Kadosh, a Christian tzaddik who died on 20 Adar II, 4221. His yahrzeit is celebrated according to the Pope Gregory calendar on 17 March, which this year falls today, on the 7th of Adar II.
Many of you may not be aware that our neighborhood is home to several Eirish Christian families, who hold Saint Patrick Ha’Kadosh is an especially meaningful tzaddik, because he is credited with introducing the Christian religion to Eire and building schools and Christian shuls there.
In accordance with the custom of Eirish-American Christians, The Our Lady of Eire Christian shul, which davens according to Nusach Irlandi, will be holding a special street parade and ethnic street festival in honor of their holy day.
Like their fellow Christians in Medinat Eire, our Christian neighbors have a custom of celebrating Yom Saint Patrick Ha’Kadosh with tefillah at their Christian shul in the morning, and a festive seudah in the evening.
Though this yom tov falls in the middle of Christian Omer II (“Lent”), a month of traditional fasting, the usual “fasting” emphasis on pareve foods is relaxed in favor of a fleishik meal of traditional foods in honor of the yom tov.
Among Christian-Americans of Irish origin, it is customary to celebrate Yom Saint Patrick Ha’Kadosh by eating traditional Eirish-American dishes such as pickled brisket, boiled potatoes, boiled cabbage, and a traditional yeast-free, chemically leavened bread. These foods will be served at booths at the street festival.
Christians enjoy color-coding their holidays, and Yom Saint Patrick Ha’Kadosh is no exception! This holiday is coded as green (in additional to the usual white and yellow of all Christian holidays). Food booths at the festival will be serving green beer in honor of the holiday; the beer may be accompanied by a special harp-shaped hechsher indicating that it is kosher for the yom tov.
On Yom Saint Patrick Ha’Kadosh, Christians wear green garments as a segulah against pinches from traditional green fairies called “lepirchans,” Lepirchans are believed to be ill-tempered fairies who mend the shoes of other fairies. Their name is believed to derive from an Eirish variant of pirchach (פירחח, meaning “brat” or “little rascal”) due to their reputation as being tricksters. When attending the parade, it is appropriate to wear green attire or to dress as a lepirchan to contribute to the festive atmosphere.
Although it is traditional to drink copious amounts of Eirish beer on Yom Saint Patrick Ha’Kadosh, there is no obligation to drink until you no longer recognize the name of Saint Patrick Ha’Kadosh.
Another motif of Yom Saint Patrick Ha’Kadosh is a clover with three leaves, which was considered by early Eirish people to be a sacred symbol of the arrival of spring. You may be offered a clover to pin to your lapel in honor of the day; it is appropriate to accept it, even if you are not Christian.
The street festival will begin at 11am, and the parade will begin at noon. You can expect the parade to include traditional Eirish dancing, Christian community members dressed as Saint Patrick Ha’Kadosh, our local Christian scout troop dressed as lepirchans, and other exotic symbols of the season.
In accordance with our neighborhood’s rules on public events, all foods served at the parade and street festival will be under the hashgacha of the local rabbanut. Although some Christians have a custom of consuming only treyf food, our neighborhood has a mandatory kashrut policy for all public events, so that everyone can be comfortable with the food.

Good night, friends.
-
Finished Toy Story 4. It was good, but the least in the series.
-
Now starting Pretty Baby. Brooke Shields was so young then.
-
First shot of Gerrit Graham has him nude in bed with Susan Sarandon.
-
Goodness gracious nobody here again?
-
I’ve spent the day doing laundry and yet there still seems to be so much to do
-
Today was the last day to wear my heart monitor
-
I decided 10 pm was late enough and took it off and boxed everything up.
-
It needs to go to UPS tomorrow
-
I printed out some pictures of Vixson at the local Walgreens
-
They have this way of ordering it over the interweb and then they notify you when it’s ready
-
They also have a 50% off reprints sale going on so I was able to get 27 pictures for slightly over $5
-
I had them printed for my mom so she can show them to her friends
-
She doesn’t have a smart phone
-
She does have a flip phone but never turns it on because “it will just waste the battery”
-
But I brought the photos to my mom and she was quite pleased to have them
-
Then I went to the church and picked up all the used linens, gave the altar a dusting, and filled all the “candles” with oil.
-
Then I took a walk around the new “Discount Store” which took over the space recently vacated by a Dollar Tree
-
I don’t think it will last long, it was filled with overpriced junk
-
Then home again, home again jiggity jig
-
Vixdad was in the mood for ice cream so we went to the homemade ice cream parlor a couple of towns over and had ice cream in waffle bowls
-
Cherry vanilla for him, heath bar crunch for me
-
A couple of hours later Vixdad wanted dinner so I warmed a slice of the chicken pie and some gravy for him
-
But I was still feeling full from the ice cream so I had nothing
-
But now, I am beginning to feel quite peckish
-
Debating heating up a slice of pie vs making a sandwich
-
Pretty Baby is pretty awful.
-
I made my decision
-
Not sure why it’s sideways
-
Pretty Baby is pretty awful.
I don’t think I e seen that since the late 70’s , I remember being pretty shocked by it
-
They All Ate Soda Bread - that's the title of my next novel.
-
I have never seen Pretty Baby. It’s hard to believe a movie this lousy was made by the same man who made Atlantic City.
-
But the rest can wait for tomorrow.
-
I’m fading.
-
Good night, all.
-

When voting for the audience favorite, people had the option to not use their actual ticket, so the tickets that were used for voting were given with the knowledge that they wouldn't get them back.

No. It's made of polyester and not always too comfortable, so I have on a cotton shirt today.

The family went to my sister's and she ordered pizza from the local Brewery City Pizza (https://www.brewerycitypizza.com/tumwater).
-
Pizza Town doesn't serve burritos.
-
So, what did you have from pizza town?
-
Or do you have to take a fifteen minute break between posts?
-
My sister got a Gold Coast Pizza, a Brewmaster, and a Pepperoni with cashews.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Withe CASHEWS???
-
Or do you have to take a fifteen minute break between posts?
I'm on my phone and it takes time to look things up. ::)
-
Has the world gone mad, pizza-wise?
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
-
Phones are for talking.
-
Pads and computers are for posting.
-
Withe CASHEWS???
Yup! My favorite combo is pepperoni, pineapple and cashews! It's quite delish! :D
-
Phones are for talking.
Pads and computers are for posting.
Not anymore. ::)
-
That is the way of things.
-
The world is moving on.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
Gotta keep up with the times.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
The world should occasionally take a look at things that were better in the past.
-
The world is not enough.
-
How Bondian.
-
What?
-
Someday, as soon as people are born, they'll get implants that will be their phone, a high-tech computer, and all their medical information for life.
-
CASHEWS?
-
On a pizza.
-
That is just so wrong.
-
But not as wrong as dipping a pizza in ranch dressing.
-
That is just the height of something or other. And now the new "thing" with pizza is hot honey - honestly, leave pizza alone.
-
Pizza must be left alone.
-
The world should occasionally take a look at things that were better in the past.
Not a bad thing to happen, but not too likely...sadly. :-\
-
Pure pizza, none of this other malarky.
-
CASHEWS?
YES!! Don't knock it till you try it...unless you're allergic, then don't try it.
-
Perhaps I'll have a Marco's at some point this week. Or the other pizza jernt I like - Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn.
-
But not as wrong as dipping a pizza in ranch dressing.
Not wrong, just different. ;)
-
Ooo...it's Page Nine!
-
I would never even try it - cashews on a pizza would be like putting cashews on a patty melt.
-
Page nine is fine.
-
Pure pizza, none of this other malarky.
There's no such thing as a "pure" pizza. All toppings were experimental at first! :D
-
That's like saying the only "pure" car is a Model T.
