Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the devil of a day, and now it is time for you to post until the devil may care cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SALIENCE!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.

So, I suspended (but did not cancel) my Amazon Prime membership last year (to save a little money, and I don't really use it that much) and I want to buy a couple of items. I need a minimum of $35 in products to get free shipping BUT my two items only add up to $34.98, which means I still need two cents...that's right just $0.02...to get the free shipping! :o
They don't sell anything for just 2 cents. :P

Topic of the Day: Beware! The Blob really scared me when I was a kid. I remember my sister and I had some friends over to watch it (or maybe it was just a sleepover and it was on), and I was freaked out! I ran into my bedroom and I don't think I came back out until the morning.

Good morning, friends.

Great photos last night, DR John G.

Isn't every day pet day?
-
Good morning,. all!
-
I drugged myself into a stupor last night, and I slept rather well. When the alarm rang at 6:00, I turned it off, snuggled with Thatch and Annabelle, and got up 45 minutes later.
-
I've been watching Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes on Amazon Prime. Last night was the worst, The Last Vampyre, a tale verging somewhere between the ridiculous and Hammer Films. The opening was straight out of the opening for the wonderful, oerverse Vampire Circus, and then went downhill rather quickly. It did feature actors I love, like Elizabeth Spriggs, who was wasted in asmall role.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I slept fine but woke way too early from a stupid dream.
-
Today has in store a rehearsal and a first round of auditions.
-
BK’s day yesterday sounds hideous.
-
I have a good friend now living in Germany; a cellist, he was lured away to England by countertenor James Bowman, who for years was England's foremost countertenor, after Alfred Deller, with a voice I can only describe as questionable. I've always preferred PDQ Bach's bargain countertenors.
-
I've managed to procrastinate another laundry day, so I will work on the Charleston.
-
In the mornings I sometimes think of Peter O’Toole in THE LION IN WINTER, breaking the layer of ice in the wash basin to splash cold water on his face, growling “It’s going to be a beast of a day!”
-
I have two hours to relax before heading out.
-
Good morning, all.
-
My eyes don’t want to open today.
-
I think I was in too much nature yesterday.
-
Notes bedeviled. Exorcised.
-
DR John G., I read that as I think I was in too much manure yesterday.
But I think that would be more BK’s feeling.
-
I am sorry to hear about BIs no good terrible very bad day and hope today is better
-
I must get going but I’ll Wordle quickly I think
-
;)
-
TOD: I was quite disturbed by the ABC-TV showing of the feature film “The Legend of Hell House.” My siblings used a blanket to block me from seeing the scary reveal in the last 10 minutes, which somehow made it even scarier.
-
Notes bedeviled. Exorcised.
DR Rodzinski, have you seen The Burial with Tommy Lee Jones? It's so good!

They still haven't put up the ballet.
I understand they are editing the video from Saturday night.

I think I was in too much nature yesterday.
I had to read this twice to grasp the word was "nature" and not "manure".

tonight is our read thru.....OK!

The odd, eerie, weird dreams made a return last night/this morning.
Up first, I was asked to take part in a program to assist animal conservancy, or some such thing. My role was to volunteer my time in an office and simply be there.
What I discovered was that in this office was also a baby hippopotamus. And wouldn't you know it, someone came to the door, and while I was talking to that person, the baby hippo managed to get out.
I closed the office and went looking for the hippo. I was in Oakland CA, of all places, and going around various city blocks hoping to catch a glimpse of the scamp. I did see him in a park and went down a slope to get to him. What I would have done with him isn't clear since I had no collar or leash for him (and I chuckled at the image of me walking a hippo), but that wasn't the issue as the hippo escaped up a slope and vanished before I could get to him.
I head back to the office and everyone I met along with way tells me there was an alert message for me on my desk and that I had best get back to the office. Once in the building, I discover there is only one elevator to take me to my floor, and every time the door opens and people get out, the door immediately slams shut leaving everyone exasperated about that damned elevator. Meanwhile, more folks are telling me I need to read the alert message.
I wake up and go to the bathroom.
Back in bed, the baby hippo issue is behind me. Yet, i find myself in an office and a message is on my desk with ALERT printed at the top. It was a schedule I was meant to follow during my time with the conservancy, including a luncheon at a nearby restaurant. At the bottom of the note was scribbled, "I have been waiting here for an hour. Please don't tell me you weren't in the office when this note was delivered"!
Back to the elevator, I manage to get on with another person, but instead of going down, we head up. Suddenly, the doors open, and we get this remarkable cityscape. It's a picture window of sorts. I look up and notice billowing smoke -- massive curls of smoke -- seemingly boiling in mid-air. From the smoke, the nose of an airship of some kind moves forward. At first, I thought airship was on fire, but it pulled away and seemed okay. It looked kind of "cheesy" if you know what I mean. it was like watching a badly made sci-fi movie. The smoke, however, continued billowing, and then I could see another airship and it was the source of the smoke. As horrible as it was, I recall thinking (before I woke up with a start) that "Damn! It's right over the parking garage. I won't be getting home tonight!"
I have to say, I was glad to awaken. No baby hippos, no billowing airships. Just really silly dreams.
-
DR John G., I read that as I think I was in too much manure yesterday.
But I think that would be more BK’s feeling.
OMG! Too funny!!
-
I am sorry to hear about BIs no good terrible very bad day and hope today is better
Have you somehow demoted BK to BI? Does the I stand for Immel?
-
;)
Poor Sarah! It looks to me like she got a bargain on Kelly Clarkson's former wardrobe.

TOD:
"The Incredible Shrinking Man" is a fine example of today's topic. I wasn't traumatized by the film so much as the spider attack. And later, when I was in college, a heavy fog immediately recalled the opening scene of the mist that began shrinking poor Van Williams.
"Jaws" permanently cured me of my love for swimming in the ocean. After seeing the film, I saw a news piece taken from the air at Daytona Beach FL where my folks and I used to vacation. All along the beachfront were schools of sharks just feet away from swimmers (probably 9 or 10 feet, but it looked much closer), Of course, they were in deeper water, but I've seen swimmers go pretty far out. i do not want to be a shark snack.

TOD: One that I remember was a TV movie called CROWHAVEN FARM, which I recall being particularly disturbing back in the day.
-
Will someone please film Ron's dream? I want to see that movie!

Oh, for those that care...OJ Simpson has died

DR RON PULLIAM broke the Dream-O-Matic 6000.

DR Jrand I had to look up Fast Fashion.

;D
Keith wanted me to watch scary movies and decided I should begin with The Blob. I still remember watching it at his parents house (they weren't home) sitting on the couch with him holding me through most of the movie to keep me there.
I agreed it was a good film, and alas had to watch other scary films with him though there were many, like Exorcist, that I refused to watch for years. I wish I had never agreed to see Willard which gave me terrible nightmares.
-
Isn't every day pet day?
It is, if you have a pet. We do enjoy a few of the dogs that live near us and we see on a regular basis.
-

Yes, sometimes your imagination, along with what you are hearing, is worse.
-
Not that I would could have helped her. ::)
;D
-
Oh, for those that care...OJ Simpson has died
I saw the news this morning and was shocked, not sad.
-
Long before The Blob, my junior high did a movie series at lunch, about 15 minutes a day for a movie. The ending of The Fly gave me nightmares for years.
I did like the remake.
-
Between The Fly & The Blob, my mother took me to a drive-in movie to something that sounded good to me, The Birds. Ha, scared me half to death but did not give me nightmares.
I have since watched The Birds many times with Keith and enjoy it very much.
-
Bruce, vibes the Pay Pal issue gets sorted quickly.

The poster from WILLARD was also very scary.
They were often plastered by the dozens on walls, and I recall that being especially creepy in Far Rockaway for some reason.
-
I don't care for scary movies
-
I have never seen The Exocist, or Carrie, or any of the other classics from the 60s and 70s etc.
-
I have seen the Hitchcock movies The Birds, and Pyscho and they were sufficiently scary
-
I never thought of Jaws as horror...more a warning g to be vigilante whe out swimming off the boat or at one of our beaches

DR RON PULLIAM broke the Dream-O-Matic 6000.
Was it the baby hippo...or the airships?

I think my favorite horror film tha got under my skin in the 1970s was the brilliant Don't Look Now with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie. The last film that got under my skin and gave me nightmares for a month was The Blair witch Project.

DR John G., I read that as I think I was in too much manure yesterday.
But I think that would be more BK’s feeling.
It wasn’t a manure-filled day for me. Thankfully
-
I remember being scared by What’s the Matter with Helen? Shelley Winters, Debbie Reynolds, Dennis Weaver and the first tango routine I remember seeing.
-
I was scared by the blood. I should have been scared of the tango.

Me too. Like you, Hitchcock movies are as far as I tend to go in that direction.

Busy day today! During the day I visited Windsor Castle and saw the Changing of the Guard up close and personal. That was great fun. Music was provided by fife and drum players. Usually they were OK but sometimes the fifes went quite out of tune. Then one of them tried to double on bugle. That didn't go well and was mercifully brief.
-
Tonight's concert was Alison Balsom playing the UK premiere of Wynton Marsalis's Trumpet Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Anthony Pappano. This was wonderful, and the composer was present to share the applause.
-
Then one of them tried to double on bugle. That didn't go well and was mercifully brief.
I am picturing a certain song from Gypsy. 8)

PAGE FOUR DANCE!!
A Charleston?
-
After intermission was the complete Daphnis et Chloé with Tenebrae as the chorus. This was also wonderful.
-
Thanks for updating us on your itinerary, DR MichaelG!
-
Tenebrae is astounding, at least on their recordings.
-
I haven't heard finer tuning.
-
I am picturing a certain song from Gypsy. 8)
I've only heard Gypsy once so I'm alas missing the reference. Which song? Is it on the original Broadway cast recording?
-
I haven't heard finer tuning.
I've sung Daphnis and it's pretty simple for the chorus, even the one a cappella section. So it hardly let them show off what they can do, but they did it very well.
-
Tomorrow it's time for something completely different: Opening Night. We will see!
-
Very much enjoying your London reports, MichaelG!

Cool, and also funny :)
I took videos so if I go back with my wife, a former piccolo player, she can decide if she wants to see this or not. Though the fifes were on good behavior during the bits I recorded.

Well, I didn't realize that Sondheim's Here We Are is available to purchase on CD and vinyl!

The CD will be released on May 17, but the vinyl won't be released until September 6. :o What's that all about??
-
I've only heard Gypsy once so I'm alas missing the reference. Which song? Is it on the original Broadway cast recording?
Yes: You've Gotta Get a Gimmick.
-
Vinyl pressing is hugely behind - everyone trying to jump on that rather illogical bandwagon. What IS the point of a digital recording on an analogue record?
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost nine hours of sleep.
-
Woke up just before noon and I could have sworn I posted.
-
Then I came here an hour ago, read the posts, and thought I'd posted - but...
-
And so, here we are.
-
Not on vinyl.
-
Page five.
-
Better than four.
-
Worse than six.
-
Then I came here an hour ago, read the posts, and thought I'd posted - but...
That sounds like some gaslighting is going on.

If it were Christmas season, we could call a character Holly Gaslightly.

I'm off to watch Keith make popcorn.
-
'night
-
DR RON PULLIAM I think it was combination of things....
-
DR JANE I didn't know what it was either until I watched that documentary.
-
Well DR FREDDIE unfortunately the director decided to go in a different direction......and Cord Elam & Ike Skidmore will be combined into one character played by another old guy who auditioned.....
So I will not set my tootsies onstage - at least for the time being.
-
I really wanted to play a part so I could dance with Aunt Eller, but I guess that will be confined to choreography nights.
-
Time will tell.
I have three days off - but the director told me because of absences and conflicts, he wants KANSAS CITY choreographed on Monday.
So I guess I will be using a recording since they will not have learned the song by then.
-
And I'll be short at least two guys....maybe three.....story of my life.
-
So, it's not raining men?
-
Not an exciting day.
-
Nothing to report.
-
Normally I would be scrambling to finish my taxes right about now.
-
But by some miracle, they were e-filed over a month ago.
-
Good night, friends.
-

Just watched a woman take a blowtorch to her abusive husband. Charming.
-
It’s a French movie from France called Driving Madeleine. It’s about a taxi driver who picks up an elderly woman who reminisces while on a ride to her new home, a nursing home.
-
I really don’t like that stuff anymore.
-
Just watched a woman take a blowtorch to her abusive husband. Charming.
Oh, my goodness!: o
-
I really don’t like that stuff anymore.
I didn't like it in the first place. :P
-
We have a larger audience than we've had before, so that's good.
-
But they're a deader audience than we've had...and that's not good.
-
Back from a couple of dance classes. New people. Who had never danced before. One couple picked up things quickly. The other needs to move, but both had fun.
-
Six!
-
Here’s hoping your audience revives, George.
-
But they're a deader audience than we've had...and that's not good.
:(
-
One thing this movie has going for it is Dinah Washington on the soundtrack. I love her voice. Second only to Ella.
-
Here’s hoping your audience revives, George.
Thanks, John. My favorite line did wake them up and they did laugh, so there's hope. ;)
-
But they're a deader audience than we've had...and that's not good.
:(
So it's not quite as dour as I thought it would be...and they seem to be in good spirits during intermission.
-
Finished with my viewing. Ironically, watched the same movie JohnG did, but had a completely opposite reaction to it - I loved every second of it, especially the performances and the score and the fact that there's not one shot of CGI in this movie. As to the scene in question, the character deserved it and more, in my opinion. I'll talk about it more in the notes - JohnG may want to skip it or maybe he'll enjoy hearing the why of why it captured me so much.
-
Again with no posts in two and a half HOURS?
-
Really?
-
Where's Rodzinski?
-
Where's George - and I don't want to hear about falling asleep or eating or rabbit holes.
-
This is the witching hour, baby, and we don't like being on page six.
-
Don't make me get out a little George doll and start sticking pins in it.
-
Listening to a Philippe Rombi score.
-
No posts for two and a half HOURS.
-
That is a farce.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Certainly not here.
-
Perhaps since they're not here, they're there and everywhere.
-
I'm waiting.
-
Not patiently.
-
I'm still here.
-
No one else is.
-
Sad to be all alone in the world.
-
Oh pook.
-
What am I, Beatrice Lillie all of a sudden?
-
I may actually be Bea Lillie.
-
Then again, I may not.
-
This page is boring me to tears.
-
Tears, I tell you.
-
Only the other day I was thinking a radical thought.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
That was the radical thought.
-
Have you ever thunk a thought?
-
George has some 'splainin' to do.
-
He also has a book to finish reading and he certainly had some time earlier in the week, didn't he? He did.
-
I don't know.
-
Don't ask me.
-
I just don't know.
-
If I knew, I'd tell you.
-
But I don't know, so I cannot tell you.
-
I would if I could.
-
But I can't so I won't.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
I really did.
-
They're not AI.
-
They're really not.
-
Nor are they IA.
-
They are ME.
-
Like it or lump it.
-
I just sneezed.
-
In case you were wondering what that noise was.
-
I don't really care for sneezing all that much.
-
I just don't.
-
No George. And he thinks this is acceptable.
-
However, he WILL be held accountable.
-
Page eight.
-
Where's George - and I don't want to hear about falling asleep or eating or rabbit holes.
Nope. This time, I was finishing Directed By!
-
George has some 'splainin' to do.
I 'splained.
-
I still need to write the review, but that shall happen...eventually.
-
And did you finish it?
-
Please do write the review.
-
Hope you enjoyed it.
-
He also has a book to finish reading and he certainly had some time earlier in the week, didn't he? He did.
I did and it's done!
-
And don't wait till eventually - do it while it's fresh in your mind - like NOW. :)
-
Now is always the best time.
