Good morning, friends.
-
Happy Sunday.
-
.
-
Most of these are kind of dumb.
-
But nevertheless, I persist.
-
So, BK, which comes first: the lyrics, or the music? :)
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept terribly. I not only had to deal with the usual pressure on my hip joint, which I can ordinarily adjust when I lie down, I had to deal with the pressure on the side of my hip where I landed in the fall. Thatch stayed with me all night, but I had a mostly sleepless night with intermittent dozing, I did have a strange dream involving my parents, packing for college, and family craziness, but IU do not remember enough of it now.
-
Today I will finish the new Charleston finale and spend most of the day lying down.

More feel-better vibes for Larry!
-
I don’t know why but I fell back asleep and slep most of the day away
-
By time I woke up it was after 4
-
BK wrote last night: "Must be my imagination imagining imaginative things."
Well, you have wondered whether there's gaslighting going on. :)
Maybe it's possible to feel like you're being gaslighted (or is it gaslit?) into feeling like you're being gaslighted (or is it gaslit?).
-
I had a dozen things to do yesterday but needless to say they didn’t happen
-
I did manage to iron the church linens and get to the liquor store to replenish our stock of communion wine
-
Then I went to the church to set up for this morning’s service
-
Then I did some grocery shopping
-
Did The banking and filled the car with gas
-
Then I came home and made dinner and cleaned up and then back to sleep
-
This morning I have church then I must get into the city
-
I have a ticket to see the final matinee of Brooklyn Laundrey today
-
Then I came home and made dinner and cleaned up and then back to sleep
Sounds like it was a productive Saturday if you got that many things done, even if not everything on your to-do list!
-
So my actual laundry will have to wait
-
Finishing a breakfast of the last of my ham casserole
-
Guess I’ll Wordle and then I must get to church

Good morning, all.

I will be off all too soon for the final day of auditions.

We're expecting thunderstorms this evening.

And that's the news!

Good morning, all. Ugh
-
Audition endurance vibes for ChasSmith.
-
My car battery died this morning.
-
Sorry to hear that.
-
So I started to walk to church.
-
Someone else in the bell choir picked me up on the way.
-
Made it in time to rehearse the piece we’re playing.
-
I’ll have to charge the battery when I get home.
-
DR FREDDIE I left the Biri out of my post!
As DR singdaw's post made clear it is Ciri Biri Bin.....and hopefully no one will put the sheet music down in front of DR CHAS SMITH.

Betty Hutton & Sonny Tufts! What a pair!

I'd wondered whether maybe it was something out of the Jewish Wedding Dance sung by Julie Andrews in "Thoroughly Modern Millie." :)
the part at 3:37 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CfWq0x7Ewk
where it sounds like Millie could be singing "Chiri-bim-bam"

Sunday...again?
-
Friday, I had my hair cut, and then I went to Cook's Produce Stand where I bought strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, and potatoes.
I decided to have lunch at Third Generation and enjoyed baked catfish, a sweet potato, collards and grits.
My supper Friday was two mater sammiches!

Friday was a very strange day in these parts.
We had major winds...sometimes gale force winds...buffeting everything, blowing stuff hither, thither and yon.
It was a sunny day, the breeze felt good when it wasn't blasting you with detritus from the roads and yards as it whipped around and blowing leaves from one yard into another halfway across town.
We had sirens going off around 5 p.m. The town siren went off first. I thought there must be a fire somewhere and wondered how the winds would impact that. Then more sirens sounded, but I couldn't tell if they were fire trucks or police cars or EMT vans.
As it turns out, trees were felled and power lines were knocked down in a section of town. Yes, those winds were rough and scandalously vicious. Another issue during the day was that some local folks decided to burn trash in their yards...and fire trucks had to be called out when the fire spread. Stupid folks in these here parts.
I had a beautiful stand of purple bearded iris beside my house. They withstood most of the blasts through the day, but yesterday morning they were all flattened to the ground. Lots of azaleas lost their blooms and pink and red petals covered the grounds around town.
The wind played havoc with the golfers at the Masters Tournament in August, as well.
Yesterday, however, calm prevailed.

Last night, I started watching a film I had never seen.
It is "Anna and the King" starring Jodie Foster and Chow Yung-Fat (which sounds like a menu item in a Chinese restaurant).
I recall it got fairly good notices when it came out, but I never felt the urge to watch it.
I am glad I started watching last night, because it's quite beautifully done and the acting is very good. It also had a surprise in the casting of Anna's son Louis. It was played by Tom Felton before his Draco Malfoy days in the Harry Potter films. I'm guessing he was 9 or 10 in this film.
It's a long film, so I have only watched about an hour of it.

My cousin Becky, daughter of my cousin Debra, gave birth yesterday.
She was expecting to deliver in early May, but her water broke around 1:30 a.m. yesterday. She travelled to Piedmont Hospital in Augusta and delivered sometime after 10 a.m. The baby boy weighed 7.2 pounds and was in good health. His oxygen was a bit low, so they placed him in NICU.
I haven't heard more since being informed by the very exhausted Debra.
However, Levi Judge Moore is now in the world! I cannot wait to meet him!
-
That's all I know.
Today I have my weekly Zoom chat. I expect I'll mosey over to Third Generation around 11 a.m. and pick up a good lunch.

Happy rainy Sunday to those of you in the LA area! On the latest episode of the Broadway Radio Show, it's Broadway Heartbreaks as I'm playing show tunes about breakups, lost loves, being alone, and relationships falling apart, but don't worry...there's lots of funny songs!

Great.

It is nice you are close enough to walk.

NOOOOOO!! :o

I’ll have to charge the battery when I get home.
Hopefully, it'll keep the charge!
-
You can't lead the charge if you don't keep the charge.
-
I heard that once.
-
DR John good luck finding the egg plate.
-
George I'm pleased you had a good audience last night.
-
Bruce, good for the smash burger joint reaching out to you.

Thanks, Freddie! Hopefully, today's matinee will be at least just as good!
-
DR RON PULLIAM that sounds like a terrible weather event.
-
But congrats on the blessed event.
He will share a birthday with my sister!
-
I remember that song from the movie TMM....it's not quite the same melody.....I don't know where it came from.
-
Betty Hutton & Sonny Tufts! What a pair!
My thought exactly
-
I’ll have to charge the battery when I get home.
Hopefully, it'll keep the charge!
It didn’t, but the battery surprisingly was still under warranty. So I didn’t have to pay for a new battery.
-
DR John good luck finding the egg plate.
Nope. Couldn’t find it.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Doesn't look like it's rainy right now.
-
Ron, I’m sorry about your bearded irises. They’re my favorite.
Great news about the new addition to your family.

Is page 4 anywhere around here?

Yes! Page Four!

Sorry.

Bruce have you eaten at Weiler’s Deli?
-
Intermission...and the audience is really enjoying it.
-
We also have probably the biggest crowd of the run so far...not full, but a good size.

Here they are from the booth where I do my teching:

Nice photo.
-
Never heard of Weiler's Deli.
-
I decided on down and dirty for food - so, Jack in the Box. Breakfast Jack was fine. Then I tried their smash burger - not so hot, IMO, and I'm pretty much done with smash burgers and that craze. Give me a good, old-fashioned burger any day. I ate about two-thirds and quit. Then two of their weird tacos, which were weird but fun.
-
Never heard of Weiler's Deli.
Neither had I until today. Also known as Frank Weiler's there is one in Canoga Park and on in Woodland Hills.

Maybe I should put bottles on the farmers' heads.
It would certainly be a concept, LOL!

'night
-
Goodnight, Jane
-
It’s been a long day. And a hot one.
-
I made Mexican street corn deviled eggs for Bible study tonight
-
They were surprisingly good.
-
I might add bacon next time.
-
We also had fajitas (beef and chicken), guacamole, black beans, stir-fried peppers and onions, salsa and more.
-
Quite delicious tacos layered with everything
-

-
I have returned to The Eternal Sea. Alexis Smith snd Sterling Hayden are good, but the script is a little trite.
-
Five!
-
We also had fajitas (beef and chicken), guacamole, black beans, stir-fried peppers and onions, salsa and more.
What happened to the no-bake cheesecake?
-
Back from a wonderful piano recital. The widow of the famed pianist Leon Fleisher, who is a fine pianist in her own right.
-
He died in his 90s in 2020. She was (is) considerably younger.
-
We also had fajitas (beef and chicken), guacamole, black beans, stir-fried peppers and onions, salsa and more.
What happened to the no-bake cheesecake?
We enjoyed that at dancing last night.
-
Different day, different obligation.
-
The recital was fantastic - Bach and Schubert.
-
Leon Fleisher lost the use of his right hand, but still had quite a career. He commissioned many works for the left hand alone.
-
Then, near the end of his life, he tried a stem cell therapy and regained the use of his right hand for playing.
-
LUCKY #130
-
Good night, friends.
-
The recital was fantastic - Bach and Schubert.
Nice

Fascinating story.
-
I started watching Bradley Cooper in Burnt. I hadn't seen the movie in a few years and forgot even if I had seen it. I had. It's just not that memorable. But the food is pretty.
-
I finished Burnt
-
I feel burnt.
-
Good night, all
-
Hello my dear peeps.
-
Readjusting to life on the west of coasts.
-
Was running around since I returned, taking Mrs R’s car in for service, taking the boy to a birthday party, celebrating the mother in law’s birthday belatedly…
-
Somehow during my air travel I lost the two cup-like ear pad things from my AirPods headphones. What a pain. Meant I couldn’t hear anything I watched on the airplane flights home. (If I tried to listen without the covers, I got painful swirling squeaks in both ears.)
-
So I watched 2 celebrated films with closed captions.
-
Intermission...and the audience is really enjoying it.
Wonderful :)
Thanks, Jane!
-
Here they are from the booth where I do my teching:
Nice photo.
Thanks, again!
-
Oppenheimer, which I liked the lead performance but found the narrative a bit confusing and jumpy. Been doing some research to find out what liberties were taken with the truth. All in all, a watchable film.
I was kind of glad to not have to listen to what the closed captions constantly referred to as “eerie music intensifies.”
-
The Holdovers. Engaging. Solid acting. Just watched the trailer to find the young lead’s voice is deeper than I’d imagined. Kinda mawkish in spots. What I liked is it didn’t hammer me over the head with period detail.
-

That's fabulous!
Thanks, again! It was a good show today.
-
One adult character is set up as the villain of the piece, but I didn’t find he did anything particularly wrong.
-
Glad to hear show’s going well, G!
-
Page 6!
-
A bunch of us went out to HopsnDrops again after today's show, and I ate too much...it was good, but just too much. ::)
-
Nice picture DR GEORGE
Thanks, Jrand!

Yum! Those look good!
-
I might add bacon next time.
Never a bad thing...except to vegetarians (sorry, Jane ;) ).
-
Back from a wonderful piano recital. The widow of the famed pianist Leon Fleisher, who is a fine pianist in her own right.
That's pretty cool.

Oh, no! I've tried to use in-the-ear headphones without the rubber pads and they can be uncomfortable. :P

I think Oppenheimer was the only new movie that I saw last year. :-\
-
My friend Margo and I saw it in IMAX and the visuals were pretty darned cool.
-
Glad to hear show’s going well, G!
Thanks, Rodzinski!
-
Only three performances left, then it's done!
-
So, Erin, the director of Incorruptible, recommended me for stage managing to the people who run (started/own) Dukesbay Productions (https://dukesbay.org/).
-
They came to the show last night and I met them briefly, and they seem like really nice people.
-
Sharry and Dennis (who are in Incorruptible) and Erin have worked with them, and definitely recommend working with them, if I'm asked to.
-
All three (independently) said that "they pay really well." ;)
-
This link is to their mission statement(s):
https://dukesbay.org/our-mission/ (https://dukesbay.org/our-mission/)
-
Good to see our Rodzinski back with us.
-
Where'd George get to?
-
Where'd get to George?
-
Page six is ridix.
-
It really is.
-
You'd think it was a Sunday or something.
-
Music is playing.
-
George is eating a burrito.
-
I wouldn't mind a burrito.
-
I wouldn't mind some egg rolls.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And my takeaway from the notes is that I do not care for page seven.
-
Amazing what takeaways you can takeaway.
-
I took a takeaway.
-
George must be eating two burritos.
-
Or perhaps a smash burger.
-
Heaven only knows.
-
Certainly, I don't know.
-
Heaven knows Mr. Allison.
-
In Cinemascope, color by De Luxe.
-
I personally am in VistaVision, color by Technicolor.
-
Thus it has been, thus it shall always be.
-
What?
-
Did someone say something?
-
Not George.
-
Certainly not George.
-
Perhaps he's doing the mambo from West Side Story.
-
George is eating a burrito.
No, I'm still stuffed from the chicken burger that I had this afternoon. :o
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
The only thing that I've consumed is a bottle of Pink Grapefruit Cascade Ice zero calorie sparkling water (with other natural flavors).
-
It was quite refreshing and delish.
-
Oh, I think singdaw asked the age-old question - music or lyrics first. For most of my life until about 1985 or so it was usually both at the same time. After that, sometimes music came first, sometimes lyrics, or sometimes both.
-
What?
-
I was sure George was eating stuffed grape leaves.
-
I, on the other hand, have never eaten a stuffed grape leaf but I have eaten grapes.
-
I've eaten nam.
-
I've eaten chicken tiki wiki or whatever it's called.
-
I was sure George was eating stuffed grape leaves.
I don't think that I've ever had stuffed grape leaves...Grape Nuts Flakes, but no leaves. ::)
;)
-
I've eaten Veal Oscar.
-
I've eaten chateaubriand.
-
I've been to Reno, I've been to Beverly Hills.
