Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the last of April, and now it is time for you to post until the last of April cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JOUISSANCE!
-
Topic of the Day: I've never attended a big roadshow movie. :-\

You've never attended a roadshow movie??? EVER?
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night, before I watched the ballet, I scrubbed out the tub, but I'm afraid to check it this morning. The new maintenance company our building management hired does lousy work and I honestly do not want to have them take care of the problem. When I called them last year about a leak in the bathroom sinnk, the "plumber" they sent repaired the leak, but now the taps turn in different directions and the water pressure is ridiculous.
-
This morning is laundry day unless there's another mess in the bathtub.
-
I’ve never been to a roadshow movie.
-
But they now have reserved seats at my local cinemas which I appreciate
-
I dint remember when I first had reserved seats but it was a few years ago
-
But I rarely go to the cinema anymore
-
Although this coming Sunday I am going to a speciality cinema, a couple of towns away, to see Ralph Fiennes in MacBeth.
-
Which I believe is a filmed version of a London produced play,
-
They do not have reserved seats
-
Guess I’ll make a cup of coffee
-
OK
-
Coffee….check.
-
Recliner….check.
-
I’m glad people enjoyed the birthday jokes
-
The Vixter was touched she was remembered, as was I, , so thank you all
-
Well guess it’s wordle time!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Good morning, all

-
I don't think I have ever been to a roadshow event.
-
Who decides these things?

I don't think I have ever been to a roadshow event.
Nor have I.

The Tony noms are coming in
-
I hope no one is egregiously overlooked.
-
I am looking at the list of nominations for Best Musical and I feel.. Nothing.
-
Important envelope vibes for MR BK.
-
I’m glad people enjoyed the birthday jokes
They were funny!
-
I hope no one is egregiously overlooked.
Egregiously? No. But no love for The Wiz. Little love for Gatsby or Back to the Future.
-
Oh well.......
https://www.vulture.com/article/tony-awards-2024-nominations.html
-
At least everyone in Merrily who I was pulling for got nominated. I haven't seen any of the other eligible shows.
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep, maybe a bit more - but good sleep, at least.
-
I am shocked, shocked do you hear me, that so many here have never had the roadshow experience - everyone must be VERY young.
-
Unlike me.
-
TOD: I had to look up what a roadshow movie was, but I'm pretty sure my parents took me to see Grand Prix and 2001 in that format. Definitely Grand Prix, which was in Cinerama. That was first but 2001 would be my favorite.
-
TOD:
The Sound of Music at the Circle Theatre in Indy.
Gone With The Wind (1968 re-release) at probably the Loew's in Indy.
And like DR MICHAELG - 2001: A Space Odyssey & Ice Station Zebra at the Cinerama theatre.
-
I didn't see Grand Prix until it came to the drive in.
I also saw Fiddler on the Roof at the Circle......

Did anyone else mispronounce Grand Prix when they were very young? (Asking for a friend)

It seemed surprising that the Spamalot revival got only one nomination. It closed already, but it seemed to be a well-received revival with the critics.
-
No DR FREDDIE - but I once wrote a very funny skit on that subject.....if you get my innuendo.

Hoping maybe there's a pdf of a script? Or some archival footage?
-
I mean, if they want it pronounced Gran Pree, then spell it Gran Pree.
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
I am back from our one morning show this year.
(Sometimes there are two days with a morning show, and I'm very glad there aren't this year.)
-
Now I must do what one must do every three months: make a very ugly quarterly property tax payment.
-
DR Elmore, that is awful about the shoddy plumbing work y'all are getting now.
-
According to an online posting by journalist Wayman Wong about the Tony nominations,
Besides ''Harmony,'' the other shows that were completely shut out were: ''The Cottage,'' ''The Heart of Rock and Roll,'' ''How to Dance in Ohio,'' ''I Need That,'' ''Once Upon a One More Time,'' ''The Shark Is Broken'' and ''The Wiz.''
-
Now I must do what one must do every three months: make a very ugly quarterly property tax payment.
That does sound unpleasant!
-
I don't pretend this is a complete list of them, but I had wonderful experiences seeing a fair number of movies in roadshow engagements, if not nearly the wealth of them that BK and others did. A question mark means I'm not positive whether my viewing was fully roadshow, or whether an intermission was still included at that time.
This is Cinerama
Oklahoma!
The Diary of Anne Frank (?)
West Side Story
King of Kings (?)
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
My Fair Lady
The Sound of Music
2001: A Space Odyssey
Funny Girl
Doctor Zhivago
The Great Race (?)
Around the World in 80 Days
Lawrence of Arabia
Tora! Tora! Tora (?)
Gandhi
Spartacus
The Hateful Eight
-
The laundry is finished and I'm taking a break before I put it away.
-
DR Elmore, that is awful about the shoddy plumbing work y'all are getting now.
Our building management is so stupid. We lost Val, the best super we ever had, in 2018 because the management refused to give him vacation pay. Everyone since them has been a dud.
-
I am happy for Val; he loves his new job. They treat him well.
-
Tonight, as it happens, I'm seeing something very special, that is not only great in itself but which holds a wonderful memory for me. It's Classic Tuesday night at the Bedford Playhouse, and tonight is Billy Wilder's One, Two, Three. I think BK has talked at length about this one, which it richly deserves.
As to the wonderful memory, it's simply one of being taken to see it on its opening night at the lovely Florida Theatre in downtown Fort Lauderdale. That's where we also caught opening nights, or at least opening weekends, for the likes of The Music Man, The Miracle Worker, Mary Poppins, Bye Bye Birdie, and many others ... always with full houses and appreciative, captivated audiences. I loved going to movies then, but I didn't yet know how rare a privilege it was to be, always seeing the latest releases with packed audiences. It also just happens that that first viewing of One, Two, Three remained the only time I saw it in a theater, until now.

I had the privilege of meeting Val a couple of times, and his wife, too, at least once. They were the nicest people, and I know he loved visiting Annabelle back then. He was so helpful at all times, and when we just happened to all be standing out front together, without even being asked he helped load my car with boxes destined for the libraries. You just don't throw away someone like that. And yet, to save a dollar, they did.

It was not.

If it's a quiet posting day so far, maybe it's time to list the Tony nominees?

And that almost gets us to page 4!
-
I'm not sure I understand the logistics of how there are seven nominees in two categories (Best Scenic Design of a Musical and Best Featured Actress in a Musical).
-
Maybe three nominees were tied for 5th place, so they had seven nominees in those categories?
-
But we did reach page 4!
-
Wait!
Has there been some mistake? Where is DR Jrand73's name?
-
TOD:
The very first time I reserved seats for a movie was for "The Sound of Music". We always seemed to get the roadshow movies "Now at popular prices" but first-come, first-served on seats. "The Sound of Music" was very different. It was already the top movie on the box office when it reached my city in 1965. I was there on the first night and everyone was very excited. We were, none of us, disappointed, either!
-
Another Tuesday and it feels like the day is over much earlier than I wanted it to be.
I was up at the crack of whatever, had coffee, showered, dressed and got into my truck and drove to North Augusta for the first of this week's Stemwave treatments. I must say that the improvement continues. I am most encouraged.
I returned home (no stops along the way) and went to the post office. There, for about the fifth time in six years, I had NO mail. It's always a memorable day when my mailbox is empty.
Later, I went to the bank to make a deposit and then to The Triangle (Don't Be Square, Eat at the Triangle) and had hamburger steak and onions with gravy, creamed potatoes and stewed tomatoes with okra. It was very tasty.
Here I am at home and cannot fathom what I have done since lunch other than putz around with my phone.
Sigh.
-
Back from breakfast at the Coral Cafe.
-
Stopped at Gelson's and I now have meals through Friday, maybe even Saturday.
-
I would dearly love a slice of cake, but I ain't got no cake.
-
Stopped at the mail place and thankfully picked up two important envelopes and a small packages.
-
Roadshows - let's begin at the beginning:
First would have been Windjammer at the Chinese in Cinemiracle. Followed by (probably not in exact order):
Ben-Hur
Exodus
Scent of Mystery
Mutiny on the Bounty
Seven Wonders of the World (Cinerama)
West Side Story
King of Kings
El Cid
Spartacus
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
2001: A Space Odyssey
Grand Prix
Doctor Dolittle
The Great Race
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Dr. Zhivago
Far From the Madding Crowd
The Sound of Music
Funny Girl
Lawrence of Arabia
The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm
How the West Was Won
The Cardinal
My Fair Lady
The Bible
The Sand Pebbles
Star!
Camelot
The Happiest Millionaire
Oliver
Finian's Rainbow
Fiddler on the Roof
Solomon and Sheba
There may be a couple of others I'm forgetting.
-
I just heard from Jeremy. The illustrations are finished! I am very excited.

I have asked for an hour to finish Kansas City but I was informed by my c0-choregraphr that she will need ALL of tonight to work on The Farmer & The Cowman - which she has completed with no input from me....
Okay....she's says she'll just use the choreography she used for the barn dance in Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.....

Perhaps I'll get an hour on Wednesday or Thursday....or Monday or Tuesday.....

Did the producers forget to invite the nominators again?

DR RODZINSKI I have loved THE SEASON since I first read it at least 50 years ago......
One of my favorite things is a conversation between two husbands whose wives were in the ladies room during the intermission of Judy Garland's show "Back At The Palace."
One: I don't know.....is it theatre?
Two: It's gotta be.
One: What do you mean?
Two: It sure as hell ain't singin'.
-
Posting to infinity and beyond.
-
Posting in between the posts.
-
And the chapter on Steve & Eydie in Golden Rainbow!
-
Posting about postage.
-
Posting post-haste.

I’ve never been to a roadshow movie.
See? I'm not the only one. ::)

The choreographer was late tonight, so I took the four out of eight Kansas City boyswho decided to come to rehearsal into the other room and blocked out the missing 64 measures.....so when we get the chance at least I'll be 50% ahead of the game.

That was a fine howdy-doo.

The Summer of the 7th Page
-
(A play on the Summer of the 17th Doll)
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
I do not care for George once again being in absentia.
-
What is it THIS time?
-
Eating a burrito?
-
Having an orgy?
-
Dining on roast venison with both new and old potatoes?
-
Certainly, he is NOT here.
-
He is NOT thinking of us.
-
And he will be held accountable.
-
Perhaps he's stuffing his face with free tacos.
-
Or having a cup of Miso soup.
-
He ain't here.
-
This we know.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
Apparently so.
-
If George was here, which he isn't, we'd have a duologue.
-
I guess having Beef Wellington is more important.
-
Or french fries and ranch dressing.
-
Now I'm getting hungry.
-
But I'll let George do the eating with his leftover pizza.
-
Or his sushi on rye.
-
Or his fried plantains.
-
Plantain from Outer Space.
-
Perhaps he's having a smash burger.
-
Having an orgy?
I should be so lucky!
;)
-
Or an impossible burger.
-
Oh, look who finally showed up.
-
AFTER midnight so he can let it all hang out.
-
Let's hear it - what was it THIS time? A crepe?
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And George has already left the room.
-
Such are the way of things, I suppose.
-
One post and out.
-
Not another post.
-
Okay, I'll admit it...MSNBC has just been too fascinating. ::)
-
Don't see another post.
-
Oh, so it's MSNBC is it?
-
We're pretty fascinating right here.
-
We've got fascinating rhythm.
-
It's got me all aquiver.
-
I figure MSNBC is much, Much MUCH (that's three muches) better than being obsessed with Faux "News." ;D
