Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a horrifying realization, and now it is time for you to post until the horrifying cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MELIORISM!

Notes unlocked. Achieved.

I have a very early (no older than 3 years of age) memory of watching King Kong vs Godzilla on our old black and white set in our upstairs playroom in Merrillville, Indiana.
Then a couple years later Godzilla in Destroy All Monsters was like the greatest thing I’d ever seen.

Good morning, friends.

Last night I drugged myself into a stupor before I went to bed. I did a lot of walking yesterday, especially the walk home from the barber, and my leg were - still are - killing me. I did sleep well until around 5:00 this morning when Thatch got itchy for some cuddles and around 6:00 Annabelle joined the cuddle party.
-
I had a strange dream about the infamous Dr Mengele and The Marathon Man and another dream about Kurt Weill's Knickerbocker Holiday.

This leads to something I was going to post yesterday about theological/metaphysical situations I've encountered over my life, and that is what I can only describe as angelic visitations. At some time between Sept. 1971 and June 1972, while I was crashing ands burning as an instructor at a Pennsylvania college, I was driving one weekend to Ohio. Somewhere, either on the endless PA turnpike or Route 80, I fell asleep at the wheel. I was awakened by someone calling my name. It was just in time, since I was driving into the back of a large truck.
In August 2013, O was at Toyland, finishing up things before I sent to Dublin to record Roberta. I got up from my chair to go to the printer and fell to the floor in intense pain. When I finally stood up, my muscles had contracted so badly I was only comfortable if I stood bent over with my head almost at a level with my waist. I managed to get to the bus, got home, looked up a local chiropractor, hoping he would be helpful, and headed to Broadway for a taxi. By the time I got to Broadway and 82nd Street, I thought I was going to die. I finally crossed Broadway, fell onto the bench at the bus stop, thinking, will I ever get a taxi? Out of nowhere, a very large black woman I had never seen before or since came up to me and said, you look like you're in trouble; what do you need?
I told her, she hailed a cab, helped me into it, wished me luck, and I saw the chiropractor who examined me and helped me into a taxi to go to the ER.

I do believe both of these situations were angelic visitations, and I had another one yesterday on my walk back from the barber. By the time I reached the corner of Amsterdam and 82nd Street, my legs were in such pain, I wasn't sure I could cross the street. I knew I had to cross as soon as the light changed because I move so slowly that I wasn't sure the walker and I would cross before the light changed and I'd be struck by a car moving uptown on Amsterdam. The light changed, I pushed the walker into the crosswalk. About halfway across, I saw the streetlight change from walk to caution, and I tried to pick up my pace. Suddenly, there was a man beside me. I can't remember what he said, but it was something like I'll stay with you.
And he did. Although I was focused on crossing the street, I could see that he was waving one of his arms to alert traffic to keep back. As soon as I got to the other side, I thanked him and he turned away. I never did see his face because I was bent over that damned walker and I don't know where he want after he left me. Suddenly he was gone.

Today, I need to put together a small Amazon Fresh order, fill out a mail-in ballot, finish up three packages I need to ship, and work on the ballet score.

Angelic visitations.
I'm glad you got help when you needed it, DR elmore3003.

Good morning, all.

Amazing stories from DR Elmore.

.
Maybe "National Safe Day" could be a safe where you store valuables?
Or maybe it's a day when you're supposed to do things safely, like taking precautions when doing risky things like crossing the street or posting on Page seven.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thanks for sharing the stories, Elmore.
-
I can’t seem to stay awake unless I’m actively doing something.
I fall asleep everytime I try to sit and read or watch tv
I know you've said you feel fatigue more than you used to. This isn't quite on that level, but there are certain reading and watching activities that I can almost count on for getting me drowsy and putting me to sleep. Not all, there's definitely a pattern to it that I haven't tried to clearly define. It's a certain KIND of reading and watching. Other times, I'm alert and totally with it. Hell, how many times does BK report falling asleep in front of the TV? It's something we do.
-
As for your dreams, I want a mashup of Marathon Man and Knickerbocker Holiday. Maybe a song like It Never Was Safe.
-
I had a strange dream about the infamous Dr Mengele and The Marathon Man and another dream about Kurt Weill's Knickerbocker Holiday.
Uh oh. Is it (National) Safe (Day)?

Woops. DR John G. and I might be on to something...

Larry:
There are definitely angels on earth. They are also beside us, though we cannot see them.
I think each of us has a bit of angelic grace inside us that allows us to empathize and react when someone is in distress.
There are many stories of people pulled back from disaster by a strong arm only to find that person is gone when they attempt to offer thanks.

A gracious good Tuesday morning, everyone.
It looks to be a mostly sunny day in the CSRA.
I have a morning of leisure to be followed by a 1 p.m. Stemwave appointment. I have the one today and one next week, and the pre-paid treatments will be completed.
I am most encouraged by the results.

This morning I finished a gay teen novel called Cafe Con Lychee. It was cute, messages flying high as banners. But it had one problem that reminded me of Pauline Kael’s review of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. She complained about the production number when the Aggies arrive at Miss Mona’s. The token black football player immediately takes up with the token black working girl.
In the novel, the high school’s openly gay student becomes friends with his closeted gay enemy. Yes, they fall in love. Yes, it’s a romance novel. But geez, are there no other choices?
-
Woops. DR John G. and I might be on to something...

On the 22nd of this month, I shall be having a reunion with all my paternal first cousins. There are ten of us. We lost one cousin back in 1957. He was struck by a car in front of his house as he crossed the road from getting the newspaper out of the postal box for his dad.
We always remember Jimmy when we get together.

Great stories from DR ELMORE.

It’s amazing what kindhearted people can do. And the one on the turnpike had to have been an angel.
-
I saw the US version of GODZILLA on the Channel 8 late night movie one Friday in 1961 or 1962.
I did see the original version about 10 years ago or so....on DVD.....
There are several interesting Godzilla movies from the 70's and 80's that I like to watch and I have a few on DVD.
-
I haven't seen any GODZILLA movies in so long that I'm going to take out the ones I have here and set up a new to-watch pile -- which I've needed to do anyway.
I've also wanted to see the new movie, but not till I've renewed my acquaintance with the old.

Once, still pretty new to NYC, I was riding the A train from Brooklyn to Penn Station for my morning commute. And a guy across the train from me caught my eye. I thought, ok, that guy is really staring at me. Then the seat next to me opened up and he came and sat. I was like, getting a bit uncomfortable, but my stop came up. I get up to leave, and he sticks a piece of paper in my hand. I get off the train, he does not follow. The doors close, and I read the note he’d written, which says, and it was true, “Your sweater’s on inside out.”

Good morning.
-
The only Godzilla movie I have seen in the theater was the one in the 1990s with Matthew Broderick.

That's a great New York story.

To get back to my angelic visitations: I have never again seen that huge - she was really fat! - kind black lady since that day in August 2013. As to that kind gentleman yesterday, I never got a good look at him; my vision was strictly on getting that damned walker across Amsterdam Avenue before impatient drivers at the light charged me. I don't know if he was human or a fragment of my imagination.
Part of me that still believes Thatch is an angel looking out for me. Before the cancer operation in 2020, I still walked with a cane, and he began sleeping with me. When I would get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, he would walk ahead of me to and from it. It was like following a silver fish in the dark apartment.
-
I saw the American release of Godzilla with Raymond Burr when it was first released. Was that 1957? I'm sure it was a double feature but I have no memory of what the other film was.

Sad news about Janis Paige, but wow on 101.

Great story, but funny that he didn't just tell you.

A woman on our tour informed me that my vest was on inside out. After thanking her, and fixing it, I asked if she lets people know when their tags are sticking out of the back of their shirts. The response was yes. I laughed and said I do the same thing.

I directed a production of the musical ANGRY HOUSEWIVES.
One of the actresses had a very quick change.
The lights came up and she was doing her scene with the actor playing her boyfriend. She put her sweater on wrong side out.....and the B I G shoulder pads were out there like angel wings.
She couldn't understand why she was getting bigger laughs than ever in the scene....until about a minute into it....she noticed. She was the last person in the theeder to realize what she had done.
It was most amusing...and she played it beautifully.

Well, this is real scary: Venomous flying spiders with 4-inch legs spread across East Coast (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/venomous-flying-spiders-with-4-inch-legs-spread-across-east-coast/ar-BB1nC6hR?OCID=ansmsnnews11) :o
-
José R. Ramírez-Garofalo, an ecologist at Rutgers University's Lockwood Lab and the president of Protectors of Pine Oak Woods on Staten Island, told SI Live that "it is a matter of when, not if" the spiders arrive in New York and New Jersey.
-
A peer-reviewed study published last October by invasive species expert David Coyle found that the invasive species is "here to stay." The arachnids are native to Asia, but were introduced to north Georgia around 2010, the study said, and are continuing to spread. Experts have warned that the spiders could spread to New York since 2022, but none have been detected – yet.
-
However, the good news is:
The arachnids are venomous, but Coyle says that they do not pose a danger to humans (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/joro-spiders-invasive-species-parachuting-air-shouldnt-fear-them/?ftag=MSF0951a18). That venom, he said, is reserved for the critters that get caught up in their webs, including butterflies, wasps and cockroaches. They could also pose a threat to native spiders.
"We have no evidence that they've done any damage to a person or a pet," he said.
-
Whew!!
-
Still, just another reason that I'm glad I live on the left coast.
-
;)
-
Page six isn't very sporting.

It just isn't.
