Well, you've read the notes, the notes were neither lost nor found, and now it is time for you to post until the lost and found cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GARNER!
-
Good morning
-
First at 8:09 am?
-
I must be going

But first a Wordle

-
Good morning, all!
-
I checked the clock at 6:00 this morning, went back to bed, and woke at 7:15, which is really late for me. I slept rather well last night.
-
Seems like Saturday!
-
I enjoyed the Kander & Ebb version of GYPSY.
-
I did have some good news: the Irish Rep paid me, so for the first time since the end of April I actually have real money - not small loans from friends (thank God for them!) - in my bank account. I wish the goddamned IRS would either give me my return or close this ridiculous audit.
-
DR Jrand 73, I'm happy you've got a hit on your hands.
-
I finished my work on the Act Two ballet score yesterday. Today I will be paying bills.
-
Good morning all.
-
A bit of insomnia last night.
-
The first paragraph of Death in Venice did the trick.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Hooray for lost and found things. I know I personally rejoice at those moments of re-discovery.
-
Oklahoma! is OK in IN, and DR Elmore is FLUSH. What more can we want on a Friday? I ask you!
-
I'm supposed to see the op'nin' of a play tonight. Evelyn in Purgatory. "A dark comedy, The Breakfast Club for teachers."
I'd better go, say hi to a few people, hang around at their little par-tay for a bit, and be done with it because things are kind of busy again the next couple of weeks.

Last night I sat down on the movie-watching couch (it's right next to my fainting couch) and watched Absence of Malice. Someone had recently mentioned those back-to-back Paul Newman flicks, this and The Verdict, and I was in the mood. It's very good, but I know the next one is the masterpiece. I'll get to that in a few days.

Good morning!

After reading DR JohnG's and DR Jane's discussion of "Mr. Bates vs the Post Office" I watched all 4 episodes and the documentary. What happened was unbelievable! Thanks!

Had a weird experience at the doctor's yesterday. They want to prescribe some opioids to help with the pain. But I have to have a urinalyses first. Couldn't take it though because one of the pain creams I use might have had CBD in it. That could get into my blood. Any trace of THC and it's a no-go.
Turns out the cream is Hempvana, not a CBD product.
-
The cream is really good, BTW.

I slept quite well, and had some most vivid dreams.
Actually, THE most vivid dream was fantastic in an odd way. The dream was that I was working or living in a building two streets from the ocean, and the city was doing some demolition on those streets. I could not have guessed what they were actually doing because they not only demolished all the buildings, but they excavated away all the land and the ocean came up to my street. A few friends and I were dumbfounded and went out to look and it was like looking into a vast aquarium. Suddenly, there was a pod of huge sea turtles and some fool had jumped in and was attempting to ride the back of one of them. That turtle would have none of it and twisted and turned until the man was detached. The turtle then turned on him as did others. And that part of the dream stopped, so I don't know if the turtles eviscerated him, or gave him a gentle bump back onto dry land. My mind says the former.
It was totally irrational, I know.
-
As long as it's not ME in the danger zone in my dreams, I'm fine with them.

Yikes! Quite a fanciful dream!
Does it have movie or book potential? Maybe call it "Don't Ride the Sea Turtle"
-
Or maybe "They Ride Turtles, Don't They" :)

I see great difficulty in casting the large sea turtles. Drunken idiots are a dime a dozen.

Today is Third Generation (restaurant) day.
Bill of fare includes baked catfish, grits, collards and something else I haven't decided upon.
It's a delicious rut I am in. But I must support local businesses!!

Maybe do it onstage, with stylized people-playing-turtles like the horses in "Equus" :)

Good morning, friends.

Woke up very late, so I'm scrambling today.
-
Not caught up.

Can't post today's calendar. There's a problem with image uploads again.

DR Jrand I'm glad you had a good evening.

But can it turn the letters on "Wheel of Fortune"?

Glad to read that the Oklahoma! ship sailed successfully.

Good news from Larry!
-
Congratulations Jack on a smash hit!
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Food should be here soon.
-
Piano tuner coming after the work session and boy does my poor piano need it.
-
Hoping to get through the work session in a reasonable amount of time.
-
Also have to do a quick Gelson's run and a quick ATM run. I'll probably do that while the piano's being tuned.
-
Or after.
-
Tuning vibes for MR BK.
-
DR ELMORE kin I borry fi' dollars?
-
We shall see what we shall see on our second night. I didn't really plan on seeing EVERY performance, but the director asked me to be there to make sure the guys are not going too heavy or light on the makeup.....
There are two settings: None and RuPaul's Drag Race.
-
Another second night phenomenon that always happens is that if they get a good audience reaction and lots of compliments the first night....then some folks decide that the performance is all theirs and that they received no help or guidance during rehearsal from anyone...and they are a bit dismissive of the staff.....
Every damn time.....sometimes from folks who are least deserving of such self-glorification.....
It's just ghastly.
-
DR ELMORE kin I borry fi' dollars?
Yes!
-
I've decided that I will watch Star on the Rise again tonight. Now that I've been through the score, I want to see it.
-
Elmore, have you finished the book yet?
-
Glad Oklahoma went well.
-
Waiting on pianist to do the work session.
-
He's running fifteen minutes late.
-
I'm running as fast as I can.
-
Sandwich was excellent but I prefer a little less pastrami, frankly.
-
VERY lean, though.
-
And that's it for food other than perhaps some nerts later - cashews and almonds.
-
Onward!
-
Four!
-
Must get to the library.
-
I ended up having a crappy day of allergies so I'm going to the theeder tomorrow night instead.
-
Work session done.
-
Tuner coming in fifteen.
-
Then the ATM run and I am finished until Monday.
-
Vibes for ChasSmith.
-
Starting Peeping Tom. Should I pair it with Frenzy instead of Psycho?
-

Gratuitous post 99!

DR Jrand73, your tell-all memoir about life in community theatre will be a real humdinger.

Thank you. Can't believe how much of this movie I have forgotten. Anna Massey is wonderful. Moira Shearer's big scene was spectacular.

Thank you. Can't believe how much of this movie I have forgotten. Anna Massey is wonderful. Moira Shearer's big scene was spectacular.
It's really an amazing film - he was a great director and his work here is stunning and I think Carl Boehm pulls off the spectacular feat of making us care about a serial killer.
-
Okay, damn it, now I need to watch it again, too. It's been a long time, and I'm ready.

Yes. Amazing performance. The direction is perfect.
-
I think my first time seeing it was at the Nuart or some such. Then I watched it on laserdisc, and then when I got the StudioCanal Blu-ray several years ago.
-
Okay, damn it, now I need to watch it again, too. It's been a long time, and I'm ready.
Yes. You must.

You really must. Now...

Good afternoon.

Hello, DR Laura.

Just a few more.

You're so brave!

Freddie, your book is on its way again. Interestingly, it's in the computer correctly, the address, but in one of the weirdest things ever, it printed it out incorrectly. We're trying to find out how that's even possible.

Oklahoma Day!

How appropriate.

Aunt Eller would be so proud.

She would churn that better extra good.
-
Starting Psycho.. it has been given an R rating. Who knew?
-
At 98, Dick van Dyke has become the oldest Daytime Emmy winner ever.
-
What's the movie you're supposed to watch in the dark?
-
Or at least, the theaters were supposed to turn off the exit lights for the ending?
-
Thanks, BK for fixing the photo upload thing. Or, if you didn't do anything, it must have fixed itself.
-
Or the problem could have been on my end entirely.
-
After all, DR Jane was able to post the turtles. :)
-
And they were worth posting.
-
Enjoyed the lost "What If" in today's notes.
-

Thanks, Bruce! Looking forward to getting the book.
-
I was trying to eke it out to page six, but I just don't think I can manage it.
-
I studied and sang the 3 Ravel Quixote songs in college. They are wonderful.
-
But I have never studied French, so had to learn them phonetically.
-
Hooked on phonics, as it were.
-
Good night, friends.
-
MR BK thanks for mentioning my review the other day......sorry it's not the original.....
-
SOLD OUT HOUSE.....the audience had so much fun....as did the cast...not quite as sharp as last night....but that will make tomorrow a challenge to them....be better....be BEST....
And JEF.....I have wanted to say this in the circle, but I don't want to speak over the director.....so I guess I will save it for MY show.
-

Congrats to Dick van Dyke!

Six!
-
Ooo...chocolate ice cream on doughnuts! OR doughnuts in chocolate ice cream! :D
-
I studied and sang the 3 Ravel Quixote songs in college. They are wonderful.
But I have never studied French, so had to learn them phonetically.
That's exactly what I did, too. No actual French speaker here. ;)
-
I took a class on how to pronounce Latin, Italian, German, and French.
-
Russian is the language I have to do phonetically. It's hard to memorize that way, but I managed it. The couple of native Russian speakers in our chorus were delighted to finally have something easy for them to memorize. I took French in school and some German lessons for working at a Germany company, and I've done enough Italian operas now that things start to sink in.
-
Which is good because this season's operas have big chorus parts - La sonnambula and Otello.
-
Hooray for getting paid, DR elmore!
-
We all have to reaudition for Sonnambula, but I'm one of the high tenors and my wife is one of the low altos, so we are well positioned to get back in.
-
Hooray for sold-out houses and solid performances, DR Jrand!
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Perhaps I'll eat a few crackers.
-
Why not?
-
Who's to stop me?
-
I'm gonna put all the latest Directed by reviews in tomorrow's notes - I've been remiss in doing so, oh, yes, I've been remiss in doing so.
-
Just realized I have another Tony Perkins movie to watch: The Tin Star. Guess it can wait until tomorrow.
-
Psycho was just what I needed.
-
Good night, all.
-
So, about a half hour ago, I just came across this YouTube video:
Is Taco Bell's GIANT Cheez-It Tostada Good? (https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=2LL5SRcDSt_c4u87&v=l5xnN_1PDSU)
-
Evidently, Taco Bell has a new BIG CHEEZ-IT® TOSTADA (https://www.tacobell.com/food/specialties/big-cheez-it-tostada), and a BIG CHEEZ-IT® CRUNCHWRAP SUPREME® (https://www.tacobell.com/food/specialties/big-cheez-it-crunchwrap-supreme).
-
Here's a picture of the Tostada:
-
And here's the Crunchwrap:
-
Well, literally right after I watched her video, I went to the local Taco Bell and got them! :D
-
And I did enjoy them. :)
-
However, she mentioned in her video, and several comments also agreed, that they were pretty salty, and I do agree.
-
I took a class on how to pronounce Latin, Italian, German, and French.
I have trouble pronouncing English
-
I only speak Lawn Guyland
-
I thought that the tostada tasted saltier than the crunchwrap.
-
Even though the tostada seems to have more fresh vegetables, it doesn't have the flour tortilla and nacho cheese to balance out the saltiness of the Cheez-It.
-
Just a thought.
-
I definitely will have them again, but not at the same time.
-
WFO and I were rescheduled to go to see A Bronx Tale: the musical this Sunday but he is not well enough to go so I called and they cancelled our seats.
-
Unfortunately no refund but now I’ve got a credit under my account.
-
So now it appears I’ll be going to my originally planned brunch at the Cutting Room in this Sunday after all, assuming I continue feeling better .
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
It just occurs to me that I am sure I bought a copy of BKs directing book, but I don’t remember seeing it arrive.
-
Bruce, did I buy it? Or am I misremembering?

Where are we going? I don’t know.
-
What are we doing? I’m not certain.
-
All I know is we are on our way.

Kind of a neglected show, Paint Your Wagon.
-
Has never had a Broadway revival.
-
Morton Gould is one of the treasures of composition.
Forms part of the Holy Mort Trinity with Mort Garson and Morton Subotnick.

Mrs R is back in town after a week away.
-
You forgot Morton Salt.

A week in which I did not sleep well.

That Cheez-It thing doesn't thrill me.
-
But maybe I'll try it during the week.
-
And Morton Downey Sr.
-
Kind of a neglected show, Paint Your Wagon.
Has never had a Broadway revival.
I wonder if that's because the movie is so different, and too many people might not like the movie? Just a thought.

Morton Salt was the only salt when I was a kid, seemingly.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.

It's always so hard to just not eat late at night but I MUST be strong.

Good theory. Though worse examples exist of poor movies whose source show still gets revived.

That's true.

And when I was a kid, Wagon was a common show for schools and community theater ms to stage.
-
City of Angels (one of my absolute favorites) has also never had a Broadway revival. :-\

It’s chock full o’ memorable tunes.
