Well, you've read the notes, the notes pondered the question of what is the sound of one notes clapping, and now it is time for you to post until the clapping cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SVELTE!
-
I'd like to BE svelte, but who knows if that's even possible anymore?
-
And now - Dino at the piano.

Jeanne, that holistic guideline you posted about last night, of having half an ounce of water for every pound of body weight, sounds valuable!
-
Where I can be inside
Hoping the new day finds you feeling much better!
-
More and more pain-management or pain-cure vibes to John G!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I'd like to BE svelte, but who knows if that's even possible anymore?
"Helter Svelter" - That's could be the title of something.
Maybe it already is?
-
Glad you were able to celebrate the progress you've made, DR George.
-
singdaw, so glad to hear you ended up having a good time at that event yesterday.
-
Glad you were able to celebrate the progress you've made, DR George.
A person should celebrate everything they throw out.
(almost a Sondheim reference, maybe from "The Hoarder's Song")
-
Can we say "hoard" in the morning on a family site?
-
I think we should.
-
Say it, I mean.
-
Who's gonna stop us?
-
.
-
Some exciting food items in today's list.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Woke last night to the sound of thunder …
A Bob Seger reference.
-
Woke a few minutes ago to more thunder. I don’t hear rain, but I hope we got some.
-
One more.
-
Two!
-
George, I would like that link. Thank you.
-
I still haven’t seen the film of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. It was never released on DVD that I know of.
-
At one point, I bought the boxed set of the 10 plays of the Century Cycle, but I haven't seen it in ages. I wonder where it is?
-
Maybe I'm a hoarder, too.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Just before 1:00 this morning, I woke with the feeling that I needed to get to the bathroom ASAP. I moved Thatch, so I could get up, and headed to the bathroom with my usual-these-days turtle-like speed. I reached it before I was sick, and there I remained for the next hour. Stella stayed with me. and when I left the bathroom, I found Thatch waiting for me. He walked with me to the bed, and once I was settled next to Annabelle, who never moved, he settled next to me.
-
So, I slept in this morning. I wish I could have slept longer, but I run on guilt and I began to feel guilty about feeding them.
-
I have to take all of the crap I cleaned out yesterday to the basement. After that, I'll see what fresh hell comes rolling down the highway.
-
Morning, all! Monday again?
Yikes!
-
I slept very well and dreamed. It amazed me that I remembered more than one.
One dream had me reporting to a psychology classroom where there were no more seats. I was content to stand in the back of the room where there was a huge window sill. I placed my books there and hopped up. But the professor decided that wouldn't do and went off to find another chair. It was then that, despite my willingness to sit on the sill, the other students began blaming me for delaying the class. I allowed my super ego to clash with their egos and we all ignored our ids.
-
That said, I awoke with a song going through my head, and I remain APPALLED at both the tunefulness of it and the lyrics:
Good mornin' starshine, the Earth says hello
You twinkle above us
We twinkle below
Good mornin' starshine, You lead us along
My love and me as we sing
Our early mornin' singin' song
Glibby gloop gloopy, nibby nabby noopy, la, la, la, lo, lo
Sabba sibby sabba, nooby abba nabba, le, le, lo, lo
Tooby ooby walla, nooby abba nabba
Early mornin' singin' song
-
Appalled!
-
And it won't go away!
-
I like that song!
-
I did the choreography for a production of HAIR.....it was organic.
-
Overcast day here - but NO rain is predicted.
Tonight I have a rehearsal for Act One of The Pink Panther Strikes Again.....I have one SCENE in that act.

TOD:
Melvyn Douglas: Hud

Rod Taylor: The VIPs and The Time Machine

Good morning, all.

George, I would like that link. Thank you.
John, I sent you a PM, but the formatting made the link VERY, VERY TINY!! :o You can click on it and it still works, but you can barely see it. I don't know why!

I still haven’t seen the film of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. It was never released on DVD that I know of.
It was on Netflix. I don't know if it's still available, though. Do you have that? If not, let me know. ;)

DR Jeanne, wow, what a story your mother had. I never did find out why my mother who was being raised Jewish by her stepfather was sent to a Catholic boarding school for awhile. I have no idea how long she was there or if her older sister was with her. I'm sure the younger, biological sister of the stepfather was not sent there.
My mother mentioned a few times how mean the nuns were and how hard it was.
-
Jeanne, my condolences to you on the loss of your friends :(
-
The VIPs is one I have never seen, and this is not the first time I've been reminded of that.
I saw Maggie Smith for the first time in this film. She was a revelation and should have been Oscar-nominated for it. She steals all her scenes.
-
DR John I can't tell if you recommending The Demon of Unrest or not.
-

I don’t have Netflix.

Yes. And I generally dislike anything Civil War.

Rod Taylor:

Karl Malden:
On the Waterfront
I Confess
Gypsy
How the West Was Won

Started watching Lost Empires, based on a J.B. Priestley novel. It was one of the author's personal favorites of his, but not mine. Yet I am enjoying the series. Colin Firth in a very early role, and Sir Laurence Olivier in a minor role. Handsome and a great eye for post-WWI detail.

From George:
Just the diet Pepsi, and I had some instant coffee for my mom, but she didn't like it. ::)
LOL. Do you actually like it? If I drank coffee I can't imagine that I would drink instant coffee.
-
DR John I can't tell if you recommending The Demon of Unrest or not.
Yes. And I generally dislike anything Civil War.
Thanks. Have you read The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara? Gettysburg with Michael Sheen was an excellent film based on the book.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Wordle: 6/6. I have to admit that I had to look up the meaning of today's word
-
When we lived in Pennsylvania we went to Gettysburg and I purchased the book in the gift shop. I still think it is the best Civil War book I have read.
-
Got a call back from the doctor. Just took a muscle relaxer. We’ll see.
I don't like those. I hope it helps. I advise aking something to keep your muscles relaxed during the MRI.

Nescafe Tasters Choice House Blend instant coffee is really good (IMHO, of course :) ) - not just really good for instant coffee, it's really good coffee.

I rarely drink coffee, but I got it at Fred Meyer on their discounted shelf, and it looked kinda hoity-toity, so I assumed that it would be better than the average instant coffee. I was wrong. :-\
;)

I think I read this only because of the author
-
In Europe, the only decaf available is instant. I can drink Nescafe if I really want a cup. I don't like all those reports I read tying cheap decaf with Parkinson's.
-
I slept after taking the pill. It was relatively pain free.

That's the title of my next memoir.
-
What a way to start PAGE FOUR
-
The way I was yawning at my desk this afternoon, you'd have thought I was taking a nap. :o
-
I have to write my annual performance review self-assessment.
-
Which I detest.
-
But it must be done.
-
I also have to set goals for the coming year.
-
Blech.
-
I'd rather live in Kansas City.
-
Where everything is up-to-date.
-
And the farmers and the cow men are friends.
-
And the sun comes right behind the rain.
-
And the surreys have fringes on top.
-
Yeah, that's the ticket.

I haven't read anything else by him. I've just been reading about Shaaara. It is sad he died before Gettysburg was made, and before his novels became popular.

Lovely.

That's encouraging!
-
Well, I am up now and the pain is bad.
-
Sorry. When can you take the next pill?
-
Am I am on hold for an MRI appointment. Only an 11-minute wait. At least that’s what I have been told.
-
Sorry. When can you take the next pill?
Not until tomorrow for that one. I do have a nighttime pill.
-
The wait time is now up to 13 minutes. Seems to grow instead of shrinking with the passing time.
-
Not until June 19 at 5 pm
-
Ugh.
-
Well, I am up now and the pain is bad.
:(
-
It’s brutal outside.
-
Tried getting a couple of weeds pulled with the other arm. Not easy.
-
The plumbago is coming up blue. Well, two of the three plants.
-
One more.
-
Five!
-
The library must be on an Audrey Hepburn kick. They now have Wait Until Dark. And this week, they ordered The Nun’s Story, which BK wrote about recently.
-
Good afternoon.
-
I've been reading some of the reviews from the new tour of Peter Pan. I don't quite know what to think.
-
The show opens with Wendy filming the waltz so she can post it on social media so it can go viral and she can earn enough money for medical school.
-
And Nana has been replaced with a bored teen-aged babysitter with a cell phone.
-
But I read that the flying and the Neverland sets are fantastic, so the kids will enjoy it.
-
Good afternoon.
Hi Laura! Good to see your posts!
-
Not until June 19 at 5 pm
That is earlier than I expected. Of course it is difficult for you to wait since you are in pain.

That part is good.
-
DR Laura, my friend’s son is Hook, so please post your reaction.
-
I think the updates might be okay for kids. Even though I don’t like the sounds of them.

I usually only drink coffee at the Washington Center for the caffeine, and then the flavored creamer is the real taste that appeals to me. :D

Homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner. Quite good.
-
The cast is getting great reviews.
-
I have to write my annual performance review self-assessment.
Which I detest.
Who the heck doesn't? :P
-
Been reading about restaurants and bars that are preventing the under-30 set from coming in. Guess millennials don’t like to play with anyone.

Nice PBS story on Merrily.

Listening to Night Watch, which recently won the Pulitzer. Civil War novel. The characters are largely Confederates. Don't care about any of them. And I am 40% into it. Hope it gets better.
-
Why not move on?
-
Uno mas.
-
Six!
-
Sorry about the pain, DR John G.
-
Do they offer a wait list for an earlier appointment?
-
That touring "concept" sounds wacked out, DR Laura.
-
Or Whack-A-Doo, as the young folks are sayin' these days.
-
I ain't a young foik.
-
I'm not hip, or with it.
-
Daddy-O.
-
Only 7 of the 10 Century Cycle plays are available for Kindle.
-
What's THAT about?
-
How utterly annoying.
-
Now that it's nice weather, and the windows and sliders are open, I am realizing how many of my apartment-dwelling neighbors have applicances or such that have batteries that are running low and that emit chirping noises every 30 seconds.
-
It's driving me to distraction. How does it not bother them?
-
I wish I had enough money to live in a house away from other people.
-
Although that's not always a solution, either.
-
But it couldn't hurt.
-
Sometimes I just want to put on noise-cancelling headphones and hide away from the world.
-
Inconsiderate clods.
-

No. They're waiting for insurance approval first.

I am too far into it. I am taking a break. I got to 55%.

The phone needs to recharge. So I am back to Lost Empires.
-
But what's this page six nonsense?
-
Onward!
-
Seven!
-
Happy seven!
-
Almost universally loved seven!
-
I mean, who wouldn't love page seven?
-
It's a beautiful page.
-
Although it's not page eight.
-
And it won't be for a few more posts.
-
What am I, Singdaw all of a sudden?
-
Don't answer that.
-
Kenneth Nelson of Fantasticks fame is on this episode.
-
I hope he has a song.
-
I have abused my devices during this recovery period.
-
I'm constantly listening to a book, posting here, playing solitaire, texting, surfing. Sometimes on two devices at once.
-
They are constantly recharging.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
Finished Hotel. Such a wonderful movie.
-
Pain-free vibes to JohnG.
-
Had some pizza slices for food. Four for about 1200 calories, which is fine.
-
I'd first ordered chicken tenders from Popeye's because they had a great discount - they cancelled my order - no reason given. I was disgusted, so the first thing I saw was Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn at 30% off, so that's what I got.
-
They credited me for the Popeye's, so the pizza slices were only two bucks more.
-
I have taken the evening pill, which is supposed to help me sleep. We'll see.
-
Gratuitous post 201!
-
Good night, all.
-
Where the HELL is George?
-
Certainly not here.
-
Here he is certainly not.
-
I don't see him, do you?
-
Perhaps he'll show up before the midnight hour.
-
Perhaps he will.
-
He might.
-
Where the HELL is page eight?
-
See?
-
Watched a YouTube clip of Malden sneaking around the hotel. You weren’t kidding about how great the music sounds.
-
Never been a big Karl Malden fan, due to him yakking about travelers checks through much of my childhood.
But I like him as Dads Longworth in One-Eyed Jacks.
-
Also as a kid I liked the Hotel tv show. With James Brolin. And the great Connie Seleca and Shari Belafonte.
-
Crazy that they used to give out hotel keys with the numbers stamped right onto them.
-

When I worked at the San Jose Gateway Inn near the airport we were like the last hotel still giving out keys. Once a lady called me frantic from her flight. She’d actually taken her key by accident after checkout. I was like, “just throw it out, no worries.” But Karl Malden or someone like him could have taken the key out of the trash and come back to San Jose to rob people.

Don't ask me.

Can you use them as they're charging?

I remember several years ago, I had a set of clippers that couldn't be used while they were being charged. They had to be unplugged for them to work at all.
-
To me, that's a design flaw. :P
-

I still have some leftover Costco pizza from yesterday, but I didn't eat any of it yet.

Did it! 999999

Today, I did some shopping for my niece for her chickens (grapes, blueberries and watermelon), so I drove through McDonald's and had a Daily Double.
-
I got it without ketchup and mustard, and added the Big Mac sauce.

It's pretty much a cheaper version of the Big Mac without the middle bun. :)

I've seen them.

I wrote them.
