Well, you've read the notes, the notes were smooth, and now it is time for you to post until the smooth cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VENERABLE!

Well, who'da thunk it?? :D

Good morning, friends.
-
I agree with all the comments about the wedding. But it's out of my hands. It's not my side of the family. So it will be what it will be.
-
.
-
Who decides these things?
-
And do they get paid for it?
-
Today is tie your shoestrings day.
-
That'll be $3,000, please.
-
:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
Well, it's sunny, there's a beautiful breeze, and it's a fresh early-fall morning here. Very nice!
Except we know it isn't fall and that feeling won't last, though the weekend is supposed to be lovely as all get out.
-
Big vibes for WFO.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Another poor night of sleep, so the cats and I slept in.
-
DR singdaw, the wedding may be on the other side of the family, but it seems to me that if the other side is not important enough to be invited to the reception, then the wedding party does not deserve to waste three hours of your time getting to and from the church/synagogue/temple/whatever.
-
This, like most of my days these days, is a ME day, and I plan to lounge with the cats and watch a few DVDs.
-
TOD: I *love* the sound of silence. Which is why I am really not suited to apartment dwelling.

I quite agree. If you are invited as a couple and are deemed as essential to the ceremony, why are you excluded from the reception? Are those folks leery about having a male couple in a more intimate environment?
Not really my concern, but throwing my 2 cents in.
-
Your dentist and your diabetes counselor approved this message.
-
The ceremony is taking place at a Wisconsin Synod Lutheran church, one of the most conservative brands of Christians, so perhaps that played into it. Who knows? I am relieved we don't have to attend the reception, frankly.
-
Perhaps I should attend in a bright pink ballgown.
-
That'll show 'em.
-
A gracious good Saturday morning, all.
I slept obscenely well, happy to say. Dreamed pleasant enough dreams.
I did awaken to total silence. I am used to hearing background hums of the dehumidifier in the den, and that wasn't humming, meaning it was full and needed emptying.
My Alexa Echo unit provides "rain sounds" all night long unless I tell it to stop. I find those sounds soothing and they mask other sounds...birds in the bushes outside my windows, for instance. My bedroom has three windows and there are a lot of birds out there. They are usually very quiet but mating season can be a tad raucous.
This is particularly true of the geese. They don't live in my yard, but they seem to consider it a mating ground.
-
Good morning, all.

A pink tux would do the trick, I think.
-
When you have the right gin, every day is World Martini Day. Just sayin'.

Great idea, DR Ron Pulliam.

I voted for him.

I don't have one, DR Ron Pulliam. But I truly love the idea of it.
-
I am curious about the politics of the Sherman brothers writing the score for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It wasn't a Disney project. I guess they didn't have exclusivity with Disney, or Disney didn't object to them taking "outside" work.
-
I have a stupid question about CastRecL for those who indulge:
I don't post on it, I just read the daily digest, and today's takes the cake. I had to scroll past what looked like the same long post a dozen times, every time someone posted a response to it and however short that response might be. Every one of those included all the prior responses PLUS the instructions to EDIT your post and NOT COPY all of that. Many times, I'm not even sure I haven't missed the person's actual response.
Am I misunderstanding what those instructions are all about, or does no one else ever complain about that? Yes, one can "scroll past". Maybe if you're just looking at one email at a time, it doesn't much matter if the extra stuff is there. But in a format like what I'm reading, it's a nightmare.
If I'm wrong about this, or it's "just me", then please say so. I just had to ask.

National Big Boy Day - is that for the restaurant?
-
I thought there might be an opportunity to buy a copy of the Sondheim auction catalog from Doyle, but so far I have not found an opportunity to do so anywhere.

It seems like they're missing out on a great money-making opportunity.

Yes - it's in tribute to some anniversary of its founding.

Them Lutherans, as Vixmom knows. We ain't all alike.
Nope, I belong to ELCA flavor of Lutherans, which stands for Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
Don’t let the “Evangelical “ bit fool ya…we mean it it the original definition of believing in the good news of salvation through Christ.
We’re the most liberal version of Lutherans. We actually believe the stuff about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, loving your neighbor, etc.
We will not only allow membership of divorced and gay and transgendered persons, we’ll even ordain ‘em!
Even if they’re ( shockingly) women!
-
That sounds wonderful, vixmom!

I don’t know what a grounding mat is…I shall go google

Women!!!? What is this world coming to?!

That's probably part of what comes from men and women dancing.

I was joking, Vixmom. Well, partly. The differences across denominations of Lutherans is astonishing.

Yippee-ki-yay, moth-
Oh wait.
Wrong one?

I remember being invited to a wedding and not the reception of a co-worker. The bride was embarrassed that she couldn't afford more people at the reception. We told her that seeing her married was better than going to the party and most of us went to the wedding.
-
A few years later we went to the wedding and reception of someone who should have followed the same policy. Fewer people and a slightly nicer party would have been better.
-
DR Vixmom have you considered getting rid of your landline? We don't miss having one.
-
MEGA VIBES FOR WFO!

From DR George:
Oh, no. :-\
LOL, yes it is a shame. I simply find the taste of all sugar free foods and drinks disgusting. I might be ok initially and then the after taste hits me.

I have not read the entire article of "The Donald Trump I Saw on The Apprentice". I saw about ten minutes of the show when it was on, and I saw the Trump we see today.

Closing night vibes for Jrand and OKLAHOMA!
Will there be a party?
-
Wishing a great closing show to the Oklahoma! company.
-
DR Jrand73, someone has called in sick. Can you please report for Box Office duty?
-
DR Jane, the envelope just arrived, thank you.
It just happens that she'll be getting home later today, after a week away at a writer's thing. I know she'll be thrilled with it.
-
My current obsession on YouTube is Penny, the talking cat, who lives - I think - in Tucson, with her mother Aymie and her daughter Gracie, cats Lilly and Betty, several guinea pigs, and three dogs. The quality is erratic but I love this trivia game.

It’s not cushioned. It’s flat.
-
Starting Marnie. We just had Hitchcock’s cameo.
-
Has anyone seen the opera version? It’s closer to the novel. The Met streamed their production during the pandemic. It was wonderful, but a different animal, right fown (or ip) to the countertenor as Mark’s nemesis. That character was dropped by Hitchcock in favor of the one played by Diane Baker.
-
I've seen Aristophanes' "The Birds." Hitchcock changed a lot for his movie.

Loved it. And I'd read up on it so I knew not to expect the Hitchcock stuff. But the way they did emulate Marnie's look and clothes from the movie was wonderful. As were the multiple Marnies. I've seen it twice - I went to the theeder when it was "Live in HD", and watched again online during the pandemic.
When watching online, I remembered my comment from when I first saw it, and I agreed with myself - namely, that as good as the score was, I so wanted it to get more animated in places. It just needed some more oomph now and then.

Agree completely.
-
Marnie is excellent Hitchcock. It’s as good as most anything else he directed. Maybe just out of my top five. This may be heresy to some, but I am glad Grace Kelly didn’t make the movie. It’s hard to dislike Kelly. I couldn’t imagine Kelly, say, shooting her horse. And if you don’t dislike Marnie at times, then the character’s redemption is meaningless.

Has anyone here used a grounding mat? I got one this week. It works while I am on it. And I don't get why.
It's part of the "earthing" movement. The earth has its own electricity, and the theories are that our bodies are best when connected to the earth. A grounding mat supposedly gives us the same "earthing" indoors as we would get going barefoot out of doors.
This has been recommended to me by the doctor giving me my Stemwave treatments. Grounding mats are a way to accomplish this indoors. There are also grounding sheets one can buy.

I'm up, I'm up - a bit over ten hours of sleep. Got up at 12:40. Went and did the ATM run and was surprised to see that the social security check had already arrived - they'd originally told me third Wednesday, but I'm hoping it's like this, mid-month, which is much more helpful.
-
Went to the mail place, then put some gas in the motor car - finally it's under five bucks - 4.85 at my station. It still had half a tank, so only forty bucks to fill it.
-
Now I'm home and just ordered fried catfish from the nearby fish jernt I like - 30% off during what DoorDash calls Happy Hour from two to five.

Wow, 206 Guests are viewing this board!

Wow, we’re still on page 4.
-
Where is everyone?
-
Did all of HHW go to the last performance of Oklahoma!?
-
Onward!
-
Five!
-
Good evening.
-
Today we saw the tour of Peter Pan. John G., the understudy for Captain Hook was on today.
-
Peter Pan is always great fun. Even at Gammage Auditorium, which is notorious for lousy acoustics. I missed most of the dialogue.
-
They changed the story a lot, but kept a lot. The kids loved it.
-
Thanks for the repor, DR Laura.
-
In other news, I saw a coatimundi at the arboretum today.
-
Back from the wedding.
-
I think the relatives appreciated our being there to show our support.
-
There was a moment where I though the pastor was going to start condemning gays, but he veered away from this course at the last moment.
-
The music was pretty dreadful.
-
The female photographer, everpresent, wore a jumper that just barely covered her unmentionables.
-
So all in all, it was quite an adventure.
-
Which I don't need to repeat ever again.
-
:)
-
At this point in my life, I think skipping weddings and receptions sounds marvelous.
-
Tiger Lily is far out, man.
-
Good night, friends.
-
At this point in my life, I think skipping weddings and receptions sounds marvelous.
I agree. Too many funerals too.
-
Watching a lousy comedy called Hot Saturday with Cary Grant and Randolph Scott. It’s all about town gossip.
-
Thanks for the Peter Pan repor, Laura.
-
Good night, all.
-
Page five is a dive.
-
No George. A trend.
-
Ridic.
-
Must write some damn notes.

So cute...and so's the cat. ;)
-
So, this was one of the things I did today:
-
5?
-
Where the action?
-
Easy, Action!
-
6. That’s more actionable.
-
Or should I say, actionesque.
-
But before that, I did this:
-
I’m in downtown Vancouver BC Canada. The fam treated me to a nice dinner, and we stayed at the adjacent hotel.
-
Nice closet, G!
-
Previously, this closet held a broken plasma TV, which was finally removed a couple of days ago, and I put back the bar, and then put up both shelves. :)
-
Nice closet, G!
Thanks, R!
-
Nice TV installation too!
-
I still have some more to do, but tomorrow is my mom's birthday, so I won't be working on my house...well, at least, not too much. ;)
-
Nice TV installation too!
Thanks, again!
-
I also have the big TV in my bedroom that I eventually want to hang on the wall, but that'll be for another time. My bedroom is still much too cluttered. ::)
-
My sister's boyfriend helped with with these projects, but the he took ME to the local Meconi's Italian Subs (https://www.meconissubs.com/) for an early dinner. :)
-
Tomorrow, I'm expecting a couple of shipments...on an Sunday. Who'da thunk it??
-
Anyway, I'm getting three shelves from IKEA to put in my kitchen instead of the cabinets, and a freezer for my garage.
-
I got it on sale from Wally World. ;)
-
The normal price was $500, but the sale price is only $219.00...AND shipping was free!
-
Can't beat that!
-
For my mom's birthday, I ordered this Bronze Flower Solar Garden Stake (https://greatergood.com/products/315864-bronze-flower-solar-garden-stake), and it's half off!
-
Here's a picture:
-
She love gardening stuff, so I hope that she'll like this.
-
The problem is that when I ordered it, it wasn't going to be delivered until Tuesday.
-
Page six.
-
Nix on six.
-
I just checked and now it says that it won't be delivered until Friday! :o
-
I guess George hasn't eaten today.
-
And?
-
What?
-
Did someone say something?
-
Guess not.
-
Nothing was said.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
And yet.
-
George is busy installing things and not eating.
-
Clearly.
-
Very clearly.
-
He's gone.
-
I guess George hasn't eaten today.
I did, and I mentioned where I ate, but I now realize that I didn't specify what I ate...so I shall now: I had my usual Combo (Chicken, Turkey & Ham), Cosmo style (toasted).
-
Gone huntin'.
-
It was quite tasty as usual ;D
-
Or fishin'.
-
He's gone.
No, I'm not gone.
-
Tasty is good.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
I did.
-
They can't take that away from me.
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
200.
-
For my mom's birthday tomorrow, we're all going to my sister's. :)
-
Two-zero-zero.
-
I'm not going to my sister's.
-
I have no sister.
-
We're going to order food from Panda Express. :D
-
Oh, and happy father's day.
-
I am a father.
-
I am a father.
I no longer have a father. :(
-
Father Bruce.
-
Whew! Page Eight!!
