And the word of the day is: AMIABLE!
I've been watching a most curious DVD of Offenbach's La Vie Parisienne, which contains 2/3 of the traditional score as set after its 1873 revision and approximately a third of music that was cut before the original production opened. The editors of this version went back to the libretto and score submitted to the censor before rehearsals began to reconstruct the edition. Musically, it's very well done, and the unfamiliar numbers are a delight. The cast is good, but the direction, choreography and design are really pathetic, the nadir coming in a new Act Three quintet on the beauties of Parisian women where the male dancers in drag perform a fashion show of corsets and lingerie.
Kristi and I are driving in and we'll be parking in the garage right across the street from City Center.
Awful, not waffle.

When it comes to culture, we're the first hogs to the trough.
And a good morning from George’s old college town of Bellingham where I schlepped the fam to surprise the wife with a spa treatment so she just left for that, and the Little Rodzes are still asleep. We shall enjoy the indoor pool of this highway hotel while Mrs R gets some relaxation over in Fairhaven.
Saturday morning greetings! Our nasty summer weather continues and I’m hibernating to avoid the heat and humidity. I skipped 2 social events yesterday because they each had outdoor components that didn’t appeal to me.
Because waffles are never awful.
I slept straight through the night
Which I guess is good, it I’m tired of being tired

When she returns it will be a Costco run, which I hope doesn’t undo the relaxation!

Have you tried this?
NEXT Saturday is the reading of my play at the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Center in Indianapolis and I am very excited about it.....
Watching the rest of 2 Weeks in Another Town. Leslie Uggams singing Don’t Blame Me while Kirk Douglas has a nervous breakdown is probably the best scene in the movie. Cyd Charisse wears a negligee that matches her sheets. And there’s an Italian song about Dracula and the cha-cha.

That looks fantastic!

Watching the Olympic Diving Championships.
They are certainly cautious in the live coverage....we no longer see ANY butt cracks.
I want cookies.
I think I shared this once before....but a bit of self promotion never hurt anyone.

DR JOHN G did you notice that Leslie Uggams is wearing Dolores Gray's costume from IT'S ALWAYS FAIR WEATHER while she is singing her song?

Fascinating! This adds to what BK seemed to notice, about what surprising amounts of disposable cash the avid Sondheim fans seem to have!
Chicken paprikash, borscht and baked chocolate for dessert
In that vein of free spending for everything Sondheim,
Here's one in my Shameless Shilling for YouTube Views. :)
This was from Feb. 2020, with the perspective of sensing a "Premium Decade" coming for the 2020s:
"Another Hundred Millionaires Got Off of Their Phones"-

Wow...that looks fantastic!
Bellingham was good. Had a nice Thai lunch. Massage went well. Costco was efficiently handled. Got through the borders swiftly. Back home after that mini-cation. Success!
Starting to watch Querelle, the new Criterion release of the Fassbinder movie. It’s highly stylized. Not sure yet what to make of it. It’s very gay.
The movie is a bit much. I’ll save it for tomorrow.
